Great value for money! Towels, soap and shower gel provided, free breakfast every morning, and comfortable beds. Kitchen was being repaired while I was there, otherwise the facilities were great.

I loved the space! It’s not only well located, but also very solo-traveller-friendly because they have great security. The shared bathroom didn’t even feel like a shared one — I never bumped into anyone. There’s no elevator, but I didn’t mind! Breakfast was okay, enough for the price of the stay, and they even keep your luggage for free after you check out! The common room is also very well equipped with books, tables, and games. My only issue was a group of homeless or addicted people right outside. They never did anything besides yelling sometimes (not at me, though), but it was still a bit scary when I came back late. This is a downside for me because it wasn’t mentioned — a little heads-up would have been appreciated! That said, their presence is understandable since it’s a very young and active neighborhood, with lots of restaurants and Kensington Market just around the corner. The first night, there was a party at one of the nearby places — the music was super loud and people were screaming. It wasn’t a problem for me because I’m a heavy sleeper, but it’s something to keep in mind if you're sensitive to noise. Again, I think it comes with the territory given the super convenient location. Overall, a great place to stay if you want to explore the core of the city using public transportation — or even just walking!

Quick getaway to Toronto for a couple of days. Check in was a breeze (I did it online to speed things up). I stayed in an all female, 4 bed (2 bunks), room. Absolutely loved the fact that each bunk had our own light, power outlet and a curtain to minimize light pollution for late sleepers/early risers. Showers were clean, (the shampoos, conditioner and soap that were provided were great) and separate from the toilet area. Strong water pressure and always hot water. The only thing I thought was strange was the shower room could be completely accessible by males, I'm not sure if there was a separate shower for them on my floor. But the hostel felt safe to me. Card access required to enter the hostel and the room areas and of course your room. Lockers in the room as well. My bed creaked a bit when shifting around in bed, enough to disturb my bunk mate but I suspect she didn't use ear plugs. Blanket was warm, bed and pillow were comfy. I never got to partake in breakfast so I can't comment on that. Location is wonderful. Close to enough to Downtown you could walk and streets cars are very close and frequent. Tons of restaurants nearby and convenience stores and pharmacies. Hostel was clean and the staff were friendly! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Bad points: I booked a female room and they put me on a mix room with 3 guys and I didn’t feel comfortable. The lockers are too small and my luggage didn’t fit inside. Good points: The breakfast was very good, also the location. There is a common space to turn on the computer and work.

The place is clean and safe. The staff are helpful, polite and knowledgeable of the public transportation and surrounding facilities be it banking, currency exchange, grocery store, 24x7 available convenience stores. There's free breakfast, daily activities within SameSun and outdoor tour or food/beer crawl.

It was such good value for money. There was a streetcar and bus stop right outside the hostel and was only a 10-15min walk to the metro. There was an abundance of affordable food options within a 5min walk, as well as a 24 hour convenience store. The staff were really friendly. Showers weren't always very clean, but it was never bad enough to bother us. The street was also quite loud at night, but it never bothered me and earplugs were provided.

Das Hostel war für unseren Zweck völlig ok. Nur der angepriesene Balkon ist von Tauben bewohnt und völlig verkotet. Toll war die Ausstattung der Küche, so konnte abends gekocht werden- super. Ausserdem ein Kühlschrank und Sckrankdepot für eigene Lebensmittel. So eine grosse Vielfalt an jungen Leuten lennen gelernt. Eine positive Erfahrung.

Samesun ran good activities daily for guests and had catered well for gluten and dairy free options for continental breakfast. Well equipped kitchen, however, kitchen can't be used during breakfast hours. Showers were small and beds squeaky, but I would still stay here again.

I had my doubts about the property. As it is mentioned as 2-star. And even private rooms have to use a shared bathroom . There wouldn’t be a attached bathroom. But damn was i wrong . The property is well maintained . Few highlights: 1. No one can enter the hostel without a key card 2.They have a common kitchen with everything required to cook . 3. They have a coffee/lounge area to work and relax 4. The bathroom are a little off not very clean but the shower rooms are very clean and well maintained. 5. We checked in late at night around 12 am we requested additional time on checkout as checkout is at 11 am . But it was not allowed. But the staff is so helpful. They have a luggage room they will hold on to the luggage till we finish our trip which was very helpful for us. 6. Free breakfast they had bagels , donuts, waffles,cereal . I would say gooood. For a price of 110$ usd for a private room . It was a good experience and stay.

No Laundry facilities . Otherwise good .

They are really using picture modification to their advantage. On picture, room looks way bigger than what it is. Also, I get that it was written but adding pictures of the shared bathroom in the private bedroom description is misleading and can make you think you have your own private one. Staff seem to be nice but tough to judge since I stayed there for less than 20 minutes. The whole space is super cramped, smells like bleach but for some reasons, bathrooms were really dirty and unclean. I was able to rent my own suite for 60$ more, downtown, so definitely not worth it.

Lovely welcome and staight forward check in after a long flight. All areas of the hostel were incredibly clean with the private double bedroom and associated washrooms etc spotless! Thoughtfully, ear plugs were in the bedroom for us to use (room facing the busy street) but didnt need them.

The rooms were clean, the buildings were cleaned often, the air conditioning in my room was effective.c and the staff are all sweethearts and were very helpful. The breakfast was cute, i like how kind the other guests i interacted with were.

The location is excellent. I like the kitchen that you could cook your own food. The common room is good to have some work done too. In downtown Toronto, the price is fine conaidering saving time and transportation fees. When we arrived in the morning, it's clean and tidy but in the evening it gets so dirty in the shared shower that you don't want to step into. The supervisor at the front desk is super impatient as if you live there for free. Overall it's fine to stay for a few nights as a backpack traveler.

Overall was great. Location is convenient. Friendly and helpful staff. But just like other reviews, the room is a bit cold.

Room was very hot and couldn’t change it, long wait to use bathroom, staff not very friendly and welcoming on arrival compared to previous experience at the other hostel round the corner. Breakfast and kitchen facilities were good and overall everything was clean. Large room and bed with good storage space.

Clean but cold at times. Lots of space and the bathrooms were separated by gender which was a big plus.

Generally a slight walk most to transit stops requiring 1-2 connections to central tourist spots. The bunk beds are quite screechy and wobbly, the walls quite thin - so you won’t have the best sleep, definitely bring earplugs. Located next to a community housing/support centre - there are a lot of houseless folks nearby but they kept to themselves, don’t stay here if you have any problems with that. The hostel has many scan card access points for security.

Welcoming staff. I stayed in an 8 person room. The room was okay, the curtain left something to be desired. It offered privacy but peeking eyes could see. Bed was okay for comfort. Lockers were suitable for a backpack and a few personal items. Each bed had a plug socket and light. Location is good for walking places, local homeless were not a problem

Rooms are congested.

This hostel is in a very cool area that gives off 3rd world market vibes, with tons of great food stalls and cafes. The room itself was nice enough, but it was far too hot and the A/C didn't seem to work, so it was difficult to get a comfortable sleep.

The matras was about 10 cm and the beds are to small. the milk was off and only 1shower for all the ladies. lought street noices and

Expedia did not make it clear this was not for Ontarians - we travelled a long way in a snowstorm to check in and were refused our booked and paid for room because we live at the edge of the GTA. Looked nice though.

It was the worst stay I could ever imagine. As I finalized 24h on the road from Europe to Toronto and had a business call to attend I kindly asked them if we could to the parents and the check in later since I was so late already in my meeting. They asked me for my passport and I gave it to them and also my card which I thought they wanted an other id but turns out they wanted the credit card. They just mentioned the card wasn’t passing and it most be a fake card and they won’t let me check in. I than stated impossible it’s not working since I’ve done many countries with the same card without ever having an issue. They got offended since I was answering to them and acted as if I had been the worse customer. They refused me saying I would cause issue since I couldn’t properly understand what they wanted from me and handed me an all ready paper with the hostels around to go take a night. As if all this is a recurrent activity of theirs to refuse people and tell them to go see elsewhere. Worse customer service, attitude I’ve seen in my life.

First time staying at a hostel. Did not know what to expect , the Hostel is downtown Toronto . The staff was very friendly and informative. I arrived at 11 a.m and check-in is at 3 pm . The front desk reception gave me a temporary entrance key card to enjoy amenities while i waited for check-in. The lounge is very clean, airy, well decorated. Whole thru the hostel showed how well taken care . With world Travellers Walking around we were al respectful. The bedroom is very clean and fresh. 8 people to a room. The kitchen is very up to date and airy. I give this Hostel 100%. Exciting thing is where it is located. Right in downtown Food Market . Will for sure book it again. Happy travels everyone

Wonderful staff who were very helpful throughout our stay.

As my partner and I returned to our PRIVATE room from the shower/washroom area we found an abundance of tools, tool boxes, and a shop vacuum in front of the door to our room. We attempted to use our key cards to enter the room and neither of our cards worked. Hearing voices from inside the room we decided to knock. Two maintenance men were inside our room! Both men were wearing filthy construction boots covered in mud and plaster. One of the men was completely shocked we were there and began to explain that he was there to fix something but was honestly not making any sense. He asked if we had requested maintenance to which I answered we did not. He even had our room written down on a piece of paper. I assured him I had no idea why they were in our room and they both left. We paid over 300$ for this “private room” and this invasion of privacy as well as having our floor completely walked on with these construction boots was completely unexpected and uncalled for. Clearly the level of maintenance needed would require displacement of guests and if this was the case we should of been notified in advance and offered alternative arrangements so as we would be able to utilize our room that was absolutely over priced. The fact that we had to knock on our door to be let in our own room as we stood outside returning from showering in completely embarrassing and appalling. I have stayed in many hostels (mainly in Europe) this hostel was not only the worst but also the most expensive.

I had the worst experience due to a fight that broke out in room 315. At approximately 4am last night I had phoned the front desk staff asking someone to check in on the room (no one did). As a young female staying in a mixed dorm I was incredibly frightened. Attached are 2 videos I quickly took as he (I didn’t get a face) began throwing things in the room and yelling for almost 45 mins.

Really cool place to stay un Toronto. Near many attractions, groceries, restaurants. Breakfast incluse. You can use refrigerator, cooking place, pan, everything you need to cool if you wish to. Really affordable.

Good location for downtown Toronto. Private room was clean, shared showers could have been cleaner but overall okay! Free breakfast was a good, they also had oat milk for coffee/cereal which was appreciated! Hairdryers were available from reception. The hostel is opposite a homeless shelter so lots of people hanging around all day/night, we didn’t necessarily feel unsafe though due to this but did take extra care especially at night. The street itself was very lively during the day and there were bars etc. busy at night.

Might be a bit unsafe for people alone late at night. I (single female traveller) was harassed by a few people sitting outside/ on the street but not threatened or anything. Otherwise, really cool and central location and nice and clean, good operation systems in place and I would stay there again.

Great location in Kensington area on transportation line

Très bon emplacement/quartier. Chambre propre, sanitaires propres. Il est appréciable que les niveaux soient accessibles par numero de chambres/dortoirs pour éviter trop de passage. Communs agréables. C'est la première auberge de jeunesse où je suis agréablement surprise. Seule bémol : rue très fêtarde donc musique forte dans la rue jusqu'à tard. Et notre chambre privée donnée côté rue.

First time properly staying at a hostel and the bed we’re comfortable, showers and bathrooms clean. A lot of options for breakfast although it can get really busy in the kitchen during this time. I found it overwhelming on the first morning so grabbed fruit to walk but the 2nd morning I sat and had a cream cheese bagel and an apple. I had breakfast after 9.30 when it was quieter. The plugs by the bed work but not the usb ports. Realistically a strong 7 out of 10. Scored lower as there are a lot of homeless people along this road and outside the hostel to the side which can be off putting unfortunately but the staff were so helpful and friendly. I was also worried about not being able to check in after 2am as they hadn’t responded to an email or the chat I sent. When I got there, there was 2 receptionist working and check in was smooth.

Excellent bagels for breakfast, and I love the bedside lamp! Very clean, good public connection. People in the surroundings at night were a little bit scary sometimes.
