Hali Country Hotel

The hotel is on an old farm site, and the rooms are in various different buildings. My room was in the furthest building from the restaurant. There is no lighting on the paths between the buildings, which are gravel and have puddles in the hollows. If you're staying in winter, you will want a flashlight to make your way around. There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, they were in the lobby area of each building. The wet room style shower was great, with good water pressure. The staff were all lovely, and the restaurant food was great. There aren't many options for places to stay in the Glacier Lagoon area, and this hotel served its purpose well.

ヴァトナヨークトル氷河の観光の際に宿泊。部屋はレセプションやレストランとは別棟にある。駐車場もあるので車でのアクセスが良い。早朝にチェックアウトしなければならなかったが、前日に事前に伝えたら、朝食用に軽食を準備してくれた。柔軟な対応がありがたい。

Convenient for glacier and ice cave trips. Good restaurant on site with comparable prices and good breakfast. Quiet room with tea and coffee facilities in communal area. Fabulous views, particularly sunrise!

Basic, clean hotel with decent beds and surrounded by pretty countryside. Associated hotel, while pricey, serves lamb raised locally, which was very good. Breakfast was strictly continental, with a traditional European range of options. You go to the restaurant to check-in, which was a little confusing. The building with the red roof that shows in some of the pictures is a guest house not associated with the hotel

Breakfast was very good. The rooms are huge and clean but located far from the restaurant and breakfast room. Not walking distance.

The room was decent size, safe and quiet. There was a fridge in the common area that guests could use. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was included and it had a large selection. Like other hotels in Europe, they don’t supply washcloths. The surroundings were beautiful.

Convenient to Glacier Lagoon. Provided a continental breakfast. Located in a rural setting. Nice comfortable rooms. Large common area with sofas and chairs and a television for relaxing outside of the room. Located near pastures with sheep And A view of the coast. Very peaceful and serene.

Spent one night passing through the area. The location was peaceful and beautiful. The bedroom and bathroom had black material along the baseboards and ceiling - appeared to be mold, but not positive. Wouldn’t have felt comfortable staying for more than one night.

The little museum in the restaurant was remarkably interesting! It was a dark walk to the restaurant though! And the room was acceptable but not fabulous. The bathroom linoleum didn’t smell fresh.

I was quite disappointed with the cleanliness of the apartment. The kitchen utensils—including pots, pans, cutlery, plates, and cups—clearly had not been properly cleaned. Many of the items were put away wet, which was unhygienic and unpleasant. It appeared as though the property relies on guests to clean their own dishes, but for the price I paid, I expected a higher standard of housekeeping and a thorough clean between stays. The bathroom was also lacking in basic amenities. There were no toiletries provided, apart from a single bottle of hand wash. Additionally, there was no shower caddy or shelf to place our own products, which made things inconvenient. On a more positive note, the staff at both the reception and the onsite restaurants were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included in our stay and officially started at 7:30am. Since we had an early departure, the staff kindly offered to prepare packed breakfasts for us, which we really appreciated. Another major convenience is that if you're joining a tour with Glacier Adventure, their pickup point is located just outside the property—very handy for early starts. While the location and staff were excellent, the lack of cleanliness and basic amenities in the apartment really detracted from the overall experience.

One of our best stays in Iceland! Exceptionally clean room in a convenient, location for exploring the glaciers, Diamond Beach and south coast. Spacious with lots of room for our luggage.

The room was large, very clean, comfortable, with a large private bathroom. The breakfast was also excellent, with lots of options and delicious food. The location was beautiful, and the hotel was quiet.

Other than staff and the customer service, there was nothing pleasant about this property. These are the following issues i encountered: - Bugs on the comforter. Saw it crawling in the middle of the night - The comforters were smelly - Room was extremely hot in the middle of the night. The thermostat in the room doesn’t work. If there is no AC on the property, they should arrange for a fan in the room

Hali Country Hotel feels more like a budget motel than a traditional hotel, but it serves its purpose for a short stopover in the area. When you first arrive off the main road, you’ll see the museum, restaurant, and reception building. It’s best not to unload your bags right away when checking in, as the rooms are located about 400 meters further down the property, closer to the sea. The route to the rooms takes you past several residential-looking buildings and a commercial property. Check-in was very quick—no passport was needed. Room 13: The room was a decent size, featuring two chairs, side tables, a dresser with a chair, and a basic white cupboard. The decor was very simple: baby blue walls with white wooden furniture. It was quite warm inside, with a lovely view of the mountains. However, there were no in-room coffee or tea-making facilities—these are available in a communal building with a coffee station and shared seating area. The bed was not very comfortable—more of a limp twin setup than a proper double. There was no kettle, no shampoo, conditioner, or body lotion provided. However, a hairdryer was available. The blackout curtains were ineffective, letting in a significant amount of light at night. Bathroom: Surprisingly spacious, but there was a small window that looked directly toward a neighboring building, which raised some privacy concerns—though it did help with ventilation. Breakfast: Breakfast offered a basic selection: cold cuts (some good lamb slices

Very spacious room and bathroom with walk-in shower. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was excellent with a lot of variety and delicious homemade breads!

The staff is lovely. The rooms are like dormatories. Functional but no creature comforts. No TV, no way to control the heat (too hot to sleep) but it’s quiet.

Hotel with several buildings next to the main Iceland road. Check in at a museum was friendly and fast. Room was big but very basic without any decoration. Bathroom had mold at the ceiling and the light was horrible. Beds were okay. Luckily cover for window was available. Breakfast was very lovely, large selection and delicious. Unfortunately, the room was incredibly loud. The doors to the main floor at that thin and due to there design of the building every guest arriving late or just walking around at the public areas was audible like next to the bed.

Food was quite good and staff were lovely. Very clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that the room was very warm even with the window open, and no fan or anything available.

The location is beautiful and the staff was very professional. The room was clean and the breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately our room was terrible. The rooms are grouped into smaller buildings, with a main door and a lobby and hallway with doors. Our room was right by the front door and coffee machine in the lobby. The room door had no gasket or soundproofing and we might as well have been sleeping in the lobby, because we could hear every footstep. Even with earplugs it was terrible.

The Hali Country Hotel was perfect! The rooms were spacious and clean-our room had a great ocean view. The beds were so comfortable-we got great sleep after all of our outdoor hikes. The restaurant food was very delicious-we had dinner there every night. The included breakfast buffet was so plentiful-just was we needed to keep us strong for our activities. The hotel is conveniently located in the same spot at the Glacier Adventure Tours- we didn't have to go far for the meet-up. Above all, the staff was fantastic. Everyone was so kind and helpful. We had reserved a 2 night stay. The day we were supposed to leave, a huge snow and wind storm arose making the roads from Vik to Hofn impassable. We could not leave and there were many people without reservations who showed up at the hotel because they couldn't travel further. The hotel owner was so helpful and caring and did her best to accommodate everyone and make everyone feel safe. We stayed another night and very happy to be there. The kitchen even packed us a fantastically filling breakfast box for our very early morning departure the next day. We can't say enough good things about the staff. We would highly recommend the Hali Country Hotel and hope to be back in the summer!

The check in the man was rude pretended to not speak English. 5 min later we catch him in full English conversation. We were not given any details about breakfast, pool or spa. Had to wonder around and try to figure it all out. Couldn’t get in anywhere to use hot tub or pool. Breakfast was packed and limited food. So if you were not there 1st you basically got nothing.

Nice countryside location close to Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon. Lots of parking, peaceful. Only issue we had was with dinner at the restaurant on property. We realized later that they charged us extra $45 US for 3 desserts which was we hadn’t ordered. Missed checking our receipts immediately. Kind of spoiled our whole stay there.

It was all around just mediocre. The only real down side was that staff hadn’t shown up the day of check in. So in turn we had to wait about 45 minutes in the lobby for our room to be ready. Not a horrible place just don’t expect much.

Overall, the property was well suited to what we needed during our trip. The staff was friendly and responsive and the rooms were very clean. Hali was conveniently located to visit Diamond beach and our glacier tour the next day. The only negative was the menu was limited and probably catering to a more upscale crowd than the hotel would attract. Additionally, there were no kids menu options available. Aside from the dinner menu, I would highly recommend staying at the Hali Country Hotel to anyone in need of overnight accommodations in that region.

We stayed for one night at Hali Country Hotel and had a very pleasant experience. Although we arrived after the official check-in time, we received helpful and flexible assistance over the phone to locate our room key, everything went smoothly. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable for two people. The shower had a bit of low water pressure, but it didn’t significantly affect our stay. The highlight was definitely the beautiful view from our window, absolutely stunning! The breakfast in the morning was also very good, a perfect start to the day. Thank you for the warm hospitality!

It was a stopover for us. Wish we stayed another day. Staff were very nice, especially Jon who showed us courtesy after a long trip in really terrible weather.

We had accidentally left a charger cable for a medical device at a previous hotel, the staff loaned us one overnight to help us bridge a gap until we picked up a replacement the next day.

Beautiful location by the ocean. Friendly helpful staff. Good buffet breakfast and excellent restaurant for other meals. My towels were missing when I got to the room, but they delivered a set to me within minutes.

We enjoyed our stay at Hali country hotel. It was very close the Jokulsarlon and Diamond Beach. Our room was clean and comfortable. We ate dinner at the restaurant and the seafood soup and the artic char were both delicious. The included breakfast buffet was good as well. After dinner, we walked through the museum on the property, which we thought was interesting. Our only complaint was that the one communal fridge was very small and we couldn't put any of our food in it. (Just so you can prepare for that). Overall, great stay and would recommend.

The on-site restaurant was delicious. Both of our dinners were our favorite during our time in Iceland. The staff was fantastic and very accommodating. The location was nestled in a quaint town surrounded by farmland, mountains and water. It was a picturesque setting.

Very quiet area. The cottage was huge and very clean. It was also very quiet. However, if you are thinking about booking here, you should know that the hotel is in the middle of nowhere. There are no grocery stores or restaurants nearby. They have a restaurant, but the menu is limited and not kid friendly. Our room had a kitchenette so, if we had known about the limited options for dinner, we would have bought groceries in Vik.

Great location to explore the south region.

The rooms are comfortable and functional. Hali is rather remote (as are the few hotels in this area). Restaurant was fine. The outside grounds could use some straightening up and maybe parking some farm equipment in a garage or barn. But ... the new of the mountains and ocean from the hotel rooms is FANTASTIC!!!

Location is great for Diamond Beach and Northern Lights. Coffee is always available!

The room was by far the most expensive on my week long trip to Iceland. However, it was the most basic - I get it: location. The bed was too soft and springy and the coffee machine didn’t work in the morning (when you need it!). On a positive note, the restaurant served some great food and service was good and friendly. Overall a middle-of-road experience

This hotel was just “ok”. There was no soap in the shower, so had to bring the glass soap dispenser into the shower and there was no shelf to put anything on so had to put shampoo, razor on the floor. The breakfast was excellent with lots of options. The dinner was passable with very small portions and was very pricey. The four people o. Our party all left hungry.

The food at the restaurant was fantastic! So fresh and well-prepared and the property is absolutely beautiful! This was one of our favorite spots in all of Iceland.

The hotel was like a Holliday inn. I was clean and efficient. What really sets this place apart is the restaurant and staff. The Food is exceptional and the staff are SO nice. Our server came and made sure the whole restaurant knew that the northern lights were dancing. The whole place cleared out in 5 min. lol. It was the best!! The food is so great. Worth every cent!
