Beck's Motor Lodge

This motel is super cute. The outdoor deck with chairs to sit in overlooking the street was an added bonus. The bathroom is very nicely remodeled. The free parking lot was great! Theres a lot of restaurants and shops close by. I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent parking. I was surprised to return to my room and find the rooms are cleaned daily and new towels. The area is great for dining and very safe to walk around. Staff was very helpful. The trip was to support my granddaughter having surgery at UCSF Benioff. Driving to the hospital on 16th or 17th was recommended -it was a straight shot. Thanks for the excellent recommendation.

Loved staying at Beck’s! A retro motel feel with modern finishes. Free parking is first come first serve but I was able to get it with my stay and never had issues. Will definitely stay here again!

Great hidden gem. Loved the history and the retro style as well as the parking. Super convenient and well maintained. Only recommendation would be to upgrade the windows for a little more sound dampening but on the good side, they do provide earplugs. Would recommend and will stay again

This is a wonderful experience for a hotel/motel stay in San Francisco. Off the beaten path in a nice safe neighborhood, yet close enough to everything else. Renovated older motel, yes doors do open to the outside, but it is gated with secure room card only. Very nicely decorated, clean as a whistle, and comfortable beds. Everything was immaculate. Only issue of course is parking. It is free, but first come first served. I left in the evening to go pick up people and when I came back, there was no parking available. There is street parking, but it is unclear (and desk clerk was not helpful) about if street parking was okay overnight. I would definitely recommend this little gem. Our go-to place in the future.

The motel is conveniently located with security monitored off street parking, close to the Castro area and transport into the city.

It's located in a great, little neighborhood. The rooms are basic, but cute and clean. There is a nice deck with comfortable seating. Helpful and friendly staff.

Second stay at Becks. The first stay was significantly better because we had a room on the back side of the properrty overlooking 15th St. This stay was in a room on the first floor facing the motel's parking and Market Street. Very noisy with the traffic and guests returning from Castro partying through 3am. We were also not very impressed with the room during our second stay. Our double queen room had a musty odor. The comfortable beds and the large bathroom and shower were the only highlights. That said, Becks is in a great location near the Castro amd Duboce Triangle. Many restaurants and shopping are within a short walk and having free on-site parking is great. The Wooden Spoon a few blocks east of the motel in Market St. is awesime for breakfast. Great food, coffee, and friendly staff. We would stay here again only if we could secure a room on the 15th St side of the property.

Decent room for the price, but not the cleanest or most updated room.

This is the cleanest hotel room I have ever seen. Very nice and upscale bathroom. They even have Peet's coffee pods in the room with a Keurig coffee maker, which is an excellent choice. Plus they have a parking lot on site and the parking fee is included. That is very rare in San Francisco. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room was huge and nicely situated for privacy between the bathroom and bedroom. We were located in the rear (R) sect, which is very quiet, with a pleasant outlook onto the Victorians of tree-lined 15th Street. Shower, as always at Beck’s, was terrific. Room was promptly cleaned each day.

The rooms to the back of the hotel on the “R” floors are bland but spacious and quiet. The room I stayed in last time, directly overlooking Market Street, was horribly noisy and the shutters did not allow to black out the street light. It was pretty bright in there at night—annoyingly so. Neighborhood is good.

What a pity. This hotel is excellently placed in the middle of the Castro and would offer an ideal location for a family visiting the city because of the proximity with public transportation and the liveliness of the Castro neighborhood. It is however very poorly cared. We opened the room to face unbreathable air, stuffy, stinky and awfully humid. AC are kept off when guests are not in the room, and cannot be set below a certain temperature which means that one needs hours to get some relief and get the room habitable enough to stay in. The HVAC broke a few days later and the only option they offered was to leave the doors of the room open to recirculate air! Really? At a motor lodge? Bed sheets had stains and the beds were only approximately done. They showed us an alternative room that smelled of smoke and had the toilet flush not working. Front desk personnel was kind but totally oblivious regarding preparedness and care of each room. A missed opportunity for a place that otherwise has no competitors in the Castro. It would take such a little effort to make of this place a jewel, and instead it is ran as a hostel.

Beck’s is a very well-run, old school motel and I mean that as a compliment. Yes, your view will likely be of the parking lot and the walls are a little thin, but it is beautifully maintained, the rooms are configured for maximum functionality, the staff are welcoming and helpful, and the shower is spectacular. The location is central and very convenient to so much of what San Francisco has to offer, and the rates are reasonable. Plus, the recently opened Epicurean Trader right next store is a great source for espresso drinks, pastries, drinks and snacks. I will definitely be staying ant Beck’s again.

Only complaint is outside of the control of the hotel. You hear the trolley go by as if you were sleeping right next to it. Otherwise, highly recommend.

Excellent stay at this property, very conveniently located near LGBT centre, Castro. Served by multiple bus, streetcar and train lines within walking distance. Air conditioning was welcome though perhaps not working the best. Area felt safer than other parts of SF. You will have to dodge the homeless but this is symptomatic of all of SF unfortunately. Room 332 was great for its accessibility features such as handrails, large shower, in shower disability seat, large bathroom area (ideal for wheelchairs).

Rooms are stuffy, stinky and awfully humid with inefficient . AC that did not work when we were there. The hotel needs love and help desperately.

We loved the location of this property. Close to everything we wanted to do. Our only complaint is the room was very warm and took a long time to cool off. The AC was not very strong, could not lower temp (locked out), and windows are secured to only open a few inches. Would consider staying here in the cooler months.

The good: 1. The neighborhood is very nice with good food/drink options and a lot to do! 2. The front desk and staff are very friendly and helpful. 3. The rooms are cleaned very well. 4. The rooms (basically) look like they do in the pictures. But looks can be deceiving….. The bad: 1. The mattresses are the most uncomfortable I have ever slept in. Ever. You gently run your hand along the top of them and you feel the springs(?) bulging out. And they are very close to the floor. I’m 6’ and sitting down on to the mattress was awkward. You could say that the mattress was a fluke and maybe I got the one room with a bad mattress, but I had a room with two queens and both were the same. 2. You can hear EVERYTHING outside of your room and in the rooms next to you. I heard the guests in both neighboring rooms and people outside the room on the balcony all night long. At 2:00 in the morning, it was still going on! The hotel does provide ear plugs though. Unfortunately, between the horrible mattresses and the noise, I did not get one minute of sleep: literally!!! I didn’t sleep at all! I was awake the entire night, tossing and turning, and watching the clock. I used to travel for work and have slept in more hotels than I could ever count, and have never experienced mattresses like these or an entire night of sleeplessness. It’s unfortunate because the hotel has potential!

We were here for surgery at UCSF hospital. It was only a mile away. Staff found a room on the first floor so patient wouldn’t have to climb stairs or ride elevator. They were very accommodating and friendly and full of information regarding where we could eat or shop for snacks. Room was big enough for 3 people and clean. Would definitely stay here again.

This place is a gem and I cannot wait to come back! We had a lovely king room that was nestled in the back, so very private and quiet. Walkable to the best of the Castro dining and nightlife. I had so much fun that I lost my phone in an Uber and the front desk employee was SO helpful when I called the desk and explained my situation. He actually got me in touch with Uber customer service as well as Samsung to help me locate my device. I was blown away by that! Thank you for the excellent hospitality!

This is a fun entry point to the neighborhood around it, including the Castro. The check-in was easy and the owners who we met on checkout were friendly and helpful.

Just returned from a two-night stay at Beck's Motor Lodge. Good location, friendly and helpful staff, good value for the money. Would definitely recommend Beck's!

Nice location close to restaurant, retail, and bars. The check in gal was fantastic. She was super friendly and knowledgeable about the neighborhood. Keep her around Beck’s.

The advertisement says "free parking" but it doesn't clarify that there is limited parking and if all the spots are taken, you are out of luck. The front desk was unable to give reasonable advice as to where to park if the lot was full. Front desk was surly and ill-informed and used the line "I just work here." Then there was no one at that front desk the following morning at 7am for check-out.

Check in was super fast and easy and SueEllen was a great introduction to Becks motor lodge. They upgraded us to a room with a view and I had just been recently refurbished. Everything was in excellent order. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it for others.

We stayed for 10 days. The staff was always very friendly and accommodating. Was in a very good area for tourists; very accessible to transit and good variety of shops in the neighbourhood. I recommend The Wooden Spoon for breakfast or brunch, just a block down Market st. Would come back again.

What a charming hotel in the heart of Castro. I really enjoyed the location and the hotel itself had everything I needed. Many great restaurants and sights within walking distance or a short transit ride. I will recommend this gem to my friends and family.
