We stayed in a studio cottage for one night. The cottage itself was well-kept but felt like lodging you would have at camp. The only option for ventilation was to open the door, and the beds/pillows were of low quality (but still clean). Furthermore, the bathroom is very small with the water heater suspended above the toilet. Showers had to be short, and it was hard to not spill water into the rest of the bathroom. Also, the wi-fi was not functional in our unit. Again, the lodging was well-kept, safe, and in a beautiful area, so I think our dissatisfaction with it comes down to personal preferences. The campsite looked really nice for anyone travelling in campers or spending the night in tents!

We received an email with our door code, but it didn’t work. We went to the reception and got a physical key, but they implied that is what we needed all along. So that was a bit confusing since we received a door code in the email. There was no soap or even a hand towel in the bathroom. Which was pretty inconvenient, that seems like those would be essential items to have. And the dish soap was pretty much water, it’s like it was pretty much empty so someone just filled it from the tap to make it look full again. It was just fine, but I would not stay here again.

My wife Sheri and I, traveled on vacation together in Sept. from Miami, FL. to Iceland to take a break away from the heat and humidity in Miami to explore Iceland country during Autumn/Winter season. We enjoyed our short stay at the Hellisholar Cottages. My wife really enjoyed the cold weather. We got Free parking included in our stay, Free wifi, hot and cold water, clean room, in a very quiet and peaceful area too.

We enjoyed our short stay at the Hellisholar Cottages. My wife really enjoyed the cold weather. We got Free parking included in our stay, Free wifi, hot and cold water, clean room, in a very quiet and peaceful area too.

The cottage we had was dated on the inside and gorgeous on the outside. But at the same time had everything we needed so we can still recommend this location. The shower is nice and warm and a lot of windows can open to easily air out the cottage. There is a water cooker, cooking stove, fridge, anything you may need to comfortably spend the night. The location is stunning as the view is amazing and you're in a field where we saw a group of sheep gently walking around. Parking is not a problem for cottages as they each have their own driveway. The communication regarding the self check-in was done very well so we had no problems getting into the cottage after a long day. We had to knock off a star due to the dated interior, our cottage door did not have blinds on the window and several windows were missing a block at the end of the rail when you only want to partially open a window. Please don't let any of this discourage you as you're still in a beautiful place in Iceland and the location is amazing

This was a great overnight stop for us! The cabins were very cute and cozy! We got two of them so that the kids could have their own space - it worked out great! Located in a gorgeous area. Everything was very clean and comfortable! We had a great night sleep here! Breakfast was also very good!

I didn’t expect much staying in our rustic cabin the countryside. But for what they charge – the cabin really was not in great shape. There was broken furniture, the kitchenette barely had any silverware. Views are amazing, Location is great, the people are nice. But at least a nice well maintained cabin would be nice.

Lovely cottage in a rural area, sheep in front of house. Kitchen is exaggerated, two hot plates with a pot and pan. Utensils very old, a microwave would help. Plates, glasses and cups are fine, so you have to work around when you really want to cook. There is no amenities, no coffee, tea or shower gel in the cottage. Fridge is very old, freezer door broken. The water heater lights up the room at night, had to pull the plug. Otherwise comfy bed, it was ok. We enjoyed ourselves nevertheless.

Did not enjoy it here. Traveled with family of five with young children and cottages have no tvs. Made it very challenging after a hectic travel day. The kitchen amenities is very sparse compared to most cottages we stayed in. It is close to shopping and fuel and hwy 1.

Stayed here a few years ago and loved it. This time there we were placed in a cottage on the end no views surrounded by trees, there were multiple teenagers staying on site who were loud playing music and consrantly knocking on others doors. Room was old and dated, shower ran out of water very quickly so you then had to wait an hour for it to fill up, they provided coffee cups but no spoons or anything to use. Very very basic cottage wouldnt stay again you can get much more for your money staying elsewhere

Very nice little cabin, with everything you need to use it as base for exploring the area. Hosts where polite and.check in was very fast. The place has a nice view and surroundings are nice. Far from town, but not a problem if you are driving.

This was our first night in Iceland. We checked in late, however the front desk lady was super friendly and accommodating. We drove up to our cabin and it was a perfect start to our trip. Very rustic and quant. The three of us comfortably slept in a bed each. Would recommend!

We received an email with our door code, but it didn’t work. We went to the reception and got a physical key, but they implied that is what we needed all along. So that was a bit confusing since we received a door code in the email. There was no soap or even a hand towel in the bathroom. Which was pretty inconvenient, that seems like those would be essential items to have. And the dish soap was pretty much water, it’s like it was pretty much empty so someone just filled it from the tap to make it look full again. It was just fine, but I would not stay here again.

The cottage we had was dated on the inside and gorgeous on the outside. But at the same time had everything we needed so we can still recommend this location. The shower is nice and warm and a lot of windows can open to easily air out the cottage. There is a water cooker, cooking stove, fridge, anything you may need to comfortably spend the night. The location is stunning as the view is amazing and you're in a field where we saw a group of sheep gently walking around. Parking is not a problem for cottages as they each have their own driveway. The communication regarding the self check-in was done very well so we had no problems getting into the cottage after a long day. We had to knock off a star due to the dated interior, our cottage door did not have blinds on the window and several windows were missing a block at the end of the rail when you only want to partially open a window. Please don't let any of this discourage you as you're still in a beautiful place in Iceland and the location is amazing

My wife Sheri and I, traveled on vacation together in Sept. from Miami, FL. to Iceland to take a break away from the heat and humidity in Miami to explore Iceland country during Autumn/Winter season. We enjoyed our short stay at the Hellisholar Cottages. My wife really enjoyed the cold weather. We got Free parking included in our stay, Free wifi, hot and cold water, clean room, in a very quiet and peaceful area too.

This was a great overnight stop for us! The cabins were very cute and cozy! We got two of them so that the kids could have their own space - it worked out great! Located in a gorgeous area. Everything was very clean and comfortable! We had a great night sleep here! Breakfast was also very good!

Did not enjoy it here. Traveled with family of five with young children and cottages have no tvs. Made it very challenging after a hectic travel day. The kitchen amenities is very sparse compared to most cottages we stayed in. It is close to shopping and fuel and hwy 1.

Great and cozy cottages in the middle of nowhere! Perfect for a relaxing vacation! Breakfast (costs extra) was very good, with quite a few things to pick from. Very friendly staff and a great experience.

I’d call it a step up from camping. Everything everywhere was sold out by the time we booked so we knew it wouldn’t be great. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was very good.

We arrived very late at night to a cottage that smelled so bad inside that we had to try to air it out for about an hour before we could even go to sleep. The smell was coming from the bathroom and smelled like sewer gases were backing up into the cabin. It was too late to contact the office so we just made the best of the situation. The cottages were cute but the showers were old and small. The grounds were lovely and the countryside was beautiful. We didn’t eat at the restaurant, but the food looked and smelled great at breakfast.

Our stay at the Hellisholar Cottages was short but wonderful. The area around the cottages was so peaceful and a wonderful way to start our Icelanic adventure. The cottages were located a short distance to the famous Seljalandafoss and Skogafoss, which made for the perfect late night adventure to see the waterfalls during the midnight sun when there was hardly anyone there. And just down from Seljalandafoss was the waterfall Nauthusagil, and fun adventurous hike through a narrow canyon that leads to a large open top cave with the waterfall. Check in/out process was smooth with great communication from the property. Great place to get awy from the crowds and enjoy some peace and quite.
