the property is located on the hillside and has a real good , carefully designed crafted Japanese garden-like surroundings. it has wooden and stone steps , handles, very artistic. They have a stone decorated stream with mini waterfalls and koi goldfish pond. the property sauna is also working well and is a nice feature. the main building interior has a real homey atmosphere and interior of mid 1940 - 1950 s they have an independenly running very good a la carte three course lunch meal restaurante on the property. breakfast is included, dinner is moderately expensive (based on one's wine preference) these features combined are a rare find in NC. in Summer 2026 property is a bit difficult to find if one drives using google maps, but it is very close to city so it is a one time puzzle one to solve

This is a WONDERFUL resort! It's in a wonderful setting, near a fun town, and the staff is great. Newman's restaurant, part of the resort, is the best restaurant I've had the privilege of enjoying in several years. A bit pricey, but worth the price. My standard for 5 stars is generally Four Seasons hotels and resorts. If Four Seasons operated a very small boutique inn, this would be it.
