BLU-Tique, Akron, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

A quick walk to historic Civic Theater and our favorite restaurant Crave. The Akron Art Museum is steps away. Hotel is chic, contemporary decor. Large rooms with large bathrooms. Great bar and restaurant in lobby. Would come back again. Staff friendly and very attentive.

I loved the hotel decor, the historic look and feel of the hotel. I did not like having to walk from the garage to the hotel. After you park your car, you have to walk through a connecting hallway to enter the hotel courtyard. This hallway was filthy and odorous. Seeing this area as your first exposure to the hotel gave me a very negative impression of it. This garage area needs extensive renovation to improve the overall impression of the hotel. One elevator was not working and once on it, you had to go up then go down to reach your destination. The room was beautiful, comfortable and expansive. The hotel is centrally located to restaurants, shopping and entertainment in the downtown area. There was confusion about my reservation through Expedia saying I could not stay at the hotel, but the hotel saying there was no issue with my reservation. I was very concerned and confused about the hotel booking and it felt like a scam to me. I did not contact Expedia for this reason. You may want to investigate because it creates a bad impression and reputation for your outstanding hotel.

Super loud hotel, doors opening closing all night long. I am not a light sleeper, could totally hear traffic all night long. My car was broken into in “their parking garage” beware there are no cameras. Didn’t feel safe at all. Never again.

The staff is great, very hospitable and easy going. There’s a lovely courtyard and the bar stayed open til 12 for us even though we were the only ones there… they aim to please their guests and it shows. Highly recommend.

The hotel itself was beautiful, but that was the only saving grace. I booked this property due to the restaurant in the building, then come to find out the entire restaurant was closed for a wedding. The noise was unbearable- between doors slamming in the hallway, the noise of the traffic outside, and the non-stop honking because of the wedding party taking photos outside, there was no sleep to be had. The refrigerator in the room was unusable- the freezer was completely frozen so the fridge wasn't working. The bed was so uncomfortable, I've never slept on a hotel mattress that hard. It was just a huge disappointment over all.

Only problem was lap. The elevator broke down, had to carry my luggage down when I left, and the restaurant was not available.

Probably the nicest Hotel we have booked in the last few years. Extremely clean. Attached, free parking. Walked to Akron Civic Theater for Dylan. Area was clean, new and safe. Best part: the restaurant is incredible!!! We had a full dinner and breakfast and the food and service were absolutely amazing. We will be coming back.

The staff was wonderful and the bar was great. We were given an ADA room, I assume because we booked the day before. The bathroom door was a challenge to close and very creaky. The shower was less than clean. I would stay there again but not in that room.

Sometimes the elevator down button didn’t work on the 6th floor which prevented me from getting dinner. The sheets had black spots on them and the bathroom floor was sticky and grout is dirty. Floors need a good scrub. The hallways are dirty and carpet in the elevator needs replaced as was filthy, too. For the price of the room, I hope to see cleaner conditions.

Lovely boutique hotel. New furniture. Nice rooms. Unfortunately, the toilet in my room was inadequately cleaned.

The hotel was just ok. The staff was interesting, the tv didn’t work due to there being no signal and they weren’t able to fix it and the shower curtain was dirty. Overall it wasn’t horrible but I have no desire to stay there again.

Reserved a room with 2 double beds months ago; when I checked in and went to the room, it was just a king bed (and a pullout couch). Went back to front desk and she apologized and said they didn’t have any more double rooms as they were completely full (but didn’t mention the room change upon check-in).

When my son and I arrived at the property, the temperature in the room was 77° in mid June and the room was extremely hot and humid. Under the Americans With Disabilities Act, by law, all public facilities must provide reasonable accommodations. I am disabled and I use supplemental oxygen. Enclosed hot rooms further adversely impact my ability to breathe. So I require a room with air conditioning. I immediately notified the front desk and also stated that there were no sheets, blankets or pillows on the sofa bed. When I returned to the room six hours later, the temperature had increased to 78°. A member of the staff told me that several rooms on the property were having air-conditioning problems. This should’ve been disclosed to me upon check-in. When I asked if she could send someone to my room to correct the issue, she alleged that the hotel did not have access to a mechanic and refused to move me to another room nor did she offer to contact another hotel to see if other hotels had a room available with air-conditioning. Around midnight, she brought an ineffective fan, one sheet and a blanket but no pillows. Upon checkout, I asked for a refund. I was told that I would receive reward points as well as a telephone call from the manager, Frank Nigaglioni on Monday to discuss. Meanwhile, staff also failed to call me back to retrieve an Arizona State Sweatshirt, shorts and shoes so I sent an email with all my concerns. I’ve received neither a refund nor returned phone calls.

Staff was kind but our room was very warm and we weren’t allowed to adjust the temp. We were told by staff that it will cool down when the sun goes down. It made for an uncomfortable evening.

We booked a room with two double beds. We got one king bed. That was a disappointment- and we were not offered a new room. Parking garage is inconvenient. Everything else was terrific.

The staff was amazing!!! Im not familiar with Akron but the night receptionist helped me figure out where to park to check in, and where to park overnight. When i got lost i called and she. explained the parking situation . She even found a room bettet suited for us than the one we registered for. Coming back from the marathon i was going to pack my and my daughter's stuff up while waiting for other runners,and she offered me late check out with no additional cost. I found the room to be clean and comfortable and the shower nice and hot. I will definitely be a repeat customer!!!

A great experience and professional staff!

Not only were the hotel staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable and friendly, but the next morning when we went to the Hotel restaurant our waitress, Latoya, and the gentleman that Cooked our food, Chris, we're not only friendly and informative and just super fun but the two of them made our next morning brunch really amazing. The chicken and waffles that Chris made weren't just delicious they were one of the best brunches I've ever had and that is mind-boggling for a hotel restaurant & I left Latoya a tip that was as much as our breakfast because she earned it. Fantastic service fantastic food and a really cool hotel. We will definitely be back for all of the above reasons. Five star stay five star room five star shower, five star service and five star food. Without a doubt highly recommended.

Clean & updated but the hotel charged me $250 for a “smoking fee” when my mom was not smoking inside the hotel room. She smoked outside the hotel and then brought a cup with some water in it outside with her to put her cigarette in it and throw it out in our hotel trash can. So they automatically charged me $250 since they found cigarette butts in the trash can. I tried to call them 3 times and they said they would have a manager call me back and they never did. Horrible service, won’t be going back.

Wonderful check-in! Attendant was so nice and informative! great location and parking was really easy! The room had a mini fridge but was not functioning. We put a few things in there and it actually made them warm. Check-out was not as friendly. I don’t think he usually worked at front desk. I had to repeat my name and room number 4 times. I told him about the fridge and he didn’t acknowledge it, just asked me my room number again.

Beautiful revamp of old office building. Kept the character of the old and brought in modern touches. Staff friendly, bartender very personable and friendly. Would highly recommend and will stay there again.

It was good. With my booking it advised breakfast was included, however it was not. If a breakfast for this location is included a coupon should be provided for the restaurant. Or a discount to the booking if the hotel can’t include breakfast, since when I booked that was stated. Hotel was fun & employees very nice. Just not happy with our booking details. Restaurant onsite was nice as well.

Amazing boutique hotel! Room was well appointed and super comfortable bed. Libby level restaurant was amazing for dinner and breakfast too! Akron has a Gem with Blu hotel!

Clean and well cared for restaurants near by the hotel restaurant was not open on a Sunday night just the bar.
