The spa was out of this world , the service, facilities a d treatments were fantastic. I would 100% visit the spa again . Nothing was too much trouble , exceptional worth every penny. The hotel its self is tired , the room was drab. The restaurant was pleasant, the service was slow.

We had to pay an additional £20 each for use of the spa. This was not made clear at time of booking through hotels.com. Had we booked via the hotel our spa use would have been included. Not happy with hotel.com

Hotel was exceptional, however to use the Spa was £20 per hour. This hotel was advertised on Hotels as having a spa and i paid considerably more for this hotel compared to others nearby as a result. If i book direct with the hotel then the spa is included, this devalues the Hotels.com price. All other hotels i stay at include the Spa when it is advertised.

Whilst room was very clean, it was quite basic, far from the 'luxury' that the listing would suggest. It was a standard room but I would have at least expected a modern bathroom. Spa facilities were very poor, the general concept of the layout was ok and it was in an average state of repair, but considering we were charged a fairly hefty £20 surcharge per person, to then find it absolutely packed with people (we counted 23 in total) was really unpleasant. We ended up just leaving after a few minutes. Reception were kind enough to refund our surcharge without any hassle. The value for money is reasonable but considering that the place we have decided to stay for the next couple of nights is broadly the same price with the surcharge, and has beautiful facilities all included, it wasn't great. I came away not necessarily feeling misled, but certainly oversold.

Nice place but tbe gym and spa were additional prices. The receptionist wasn’t very supportive when I arrived asking to use the gym so needed this to be escalated to management. The spa facilities then only allowed you to use th outdoor jacuzzi if you had a treatment. I don’t think I’ll visit again based on the additional costs for the gym and spa

Really did enjoy my night away food was excellent my only slight complaint is getting charged £20 per person to use the spa facility as I have been here before and it was free for guests

First night in room at front of hotel close to very busy road, difficulty sleeping. Service by some staff in restaurant very slow but food choice ok. On first evening small flies seen on restaurant window and following morning flies seen on fresh fruit. However, this was addressed promptly when hotel staff notified. A £20 hourly fee charged to each person booking on Hotel.com to access spa facilities. This was only explained on our arrival. This was most disappointing. Fabulous deserted beach within walking distance of hotel.

Ok accommodation for a 1 night stay, mattress needs replacing. Bedding needs updating as quite rough. Room looks tired and dull. Bathroom requires upgrading, very dark and dingy, service panel for water pipes stuck on with blu-tak, not professional. Breakfast was awful, cheap ingredients and cooked to a poor quality. Staff were lovely, professional and approachable. For a 4 star hotel, I was very disappointed.

The hotel was lovely, the girls on reception were very nice and couldn't do enough for you. We were on the ground floor and in the mornings it was very noisy outside so couldn't sleep as long as we wanted. The rooms were lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable but the shower was not great, there wasn't good pressure of water and the water was only slightly warm so that was a big disappointment. Apart from that everything else was good.

Receptionist was super friendly & helpful 5* Lovely room overlooking the grounds Hotel is in a great location & well equipped super clean Whilst the food was lovely my meal arrived 45minutes after ordering & was wrong. No apology - very poor service.

Hotel is in a lovely location, we were lucky to get a view of the gardens (not the car park). Room was comfortable and clean, we were disappointed with the bathroom, there is mould on the ceiling and the shower mixer tap had the central section missing which would have shown how it worked (room 8 on group floor. Service in the bar was good, bar area was comfortable. Food was OK at dinner, disappointed with my breakfast order of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs as the eggs were dry and over cooked and not very hot. We were not impressed with the morning check out process, the bill was not itemised, I was not given an actual value of the bill until I asked just advised there was enough credit on my account to cover all charges. When I requested itemisation I was advised they could only give me a photo copy of the till receipt from the bar.

The write-up by Hotels.com , and the price of the rooms suggested/promissed something better—— for us , it was a basic hotel, with basic facilities—- pub-bar type “restaurant”, -crowded and noisy and cramped—dood was pub-grub really — nothing special —- room basic with low budget furnishings , bathroom the same— almost travelLodge or premier inn quality—- a place to speel - but not worth what they charge

Customer service terrible. Rooms were dated and facilities were two star. Was asked to pay £40 for a swim. That was after paying £200 for a basic room. No Smart TV - unbelievable. Hotel overpriced and over rated.

First night in room at front of hotel close to very busy road, difficulty sleeping. Service by some staff in restaurant very slow but food choice ok. On first evening small flies seen on restaurant window and following morning flies seen on fresh fruit. However, this was addressed promptly when hotel staff notified. A £20 hourly fee charged to each person booking on Hotel.com to access spa facilities. This was only explained on our arrival. This was most disappointing. AMAZING!!! The restaurant team were simply the best. We had our 7 year old grandson with us who has autism, and the staff went well over and above for us. George spoke to him, Keiran the chef came out of the kitchen to see him. Truly exceptional and in his words “the best night ever”. Service goes a long way and this whole team nailed it, even with our annoyingly awkward requests with our meals. We love a night away and I have not experienced service like this for a long time. The management team should be proud of a truly exceptional front of house team, and of course a special mention to Keiran for making it a night to remember.

Nice place but tbe gym and spa were additional prices. The receptionist wasn’t very supportive when I arrived asking to use the gym so needed this to be escalated to management. The spa facilities then only allowed you to use th outdoor jacuzzi if you had a treatment. I don’t think I’ll visit again based on the additional costs for the gym and spa

From the moment we walked into the Gailes Hotel, we were welcomed and there wasn’t anything that was too much trouble or effort for the wonderful staff throughout the Hotel. We will be back.

The hotel was lovely, the girls on reception were very nice and couldn't do enough for you. We were on the ground floor and in the mornings it was very noisy outside so couldn't sleep as long as we wanted. The rooms were lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable but the shower was not great, there wasn't good pressure of water and the water was only slightly warm so that was a big disappointment. Apart from that everything else was good.

Hotel is in a lovely location, we were lucky to get a view of the gardens (not the car park). Room was comfortable and clean, we were disappointed with the bathroom, there is mould on the ceiling and the shower mixer tap had the central section missing which would have shown how it worked (room 8 on group floor. Service in the bar was good, bar area was comfortable. Food was OK at dinner, disappointed with my breakfast order of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs as the eggs were dry and over cooked and not very hot. We were not impressed with the morning check out process, the bill was not itemised, I was not given an actual value of the bill until I asked just advised there was enough credit on my account to cover all charges. When I requested itemisation I was advised they could only give me a photo copy of the till receipt from the bar.

Room was clean, beds comfortable but not a fan of mood lighting. With no light above mirror, room was quite dismal. Apart from small bedside lights covered by long shades thereby blocking light there was standard lamp with same style shades and overhead lights at door same as others. Room needs proper overhead light at mirror. Staff and food excellent as always but £5.15 for a bottle of plain water in room is extortionate.

Nice 2 day birthday break for my partner, hotel was spotlessly clean, rooms were well equipped, although a smart tv would have gave it 5 stars instead of 4, bed was exceptionally comfortable & massive, food was great but slightly overpriced we thought, the SPA suite wasn't the best but relaxing, SPA treatments were way overpriced for what was on offer, but we enjoyed our stay

My stay was very poor for the money I paid. I was told I had to pay another £20 any time I wanted to use the leisure facilities. I had already paid almost £140 a night so for me this complete greed. The breakfast was not a pleasant experience. Limited choice and ran out of yoghurts on my first day and still had not replenished on day 5 of my stay. Room cleaning still wasn’t done at 3 PM one day when I came back from work so had to do without cleaning that day. And finally the staff were not friendly so I would never stay, nor recommend, this hotel to anyone.

The place seems to have had the bedrooms upgraded recently. Nice, roomy and comfortable. However, some “smaller details” niggled a bit… The rooms are not very noise proof - snoring on one side, conversations on the other, banging doors, very distracting and sleep preventing. Phone chargers inbuilt into head board did not work. Water pressure poor, affecting wash basin, shower and toilet needing re-flushed. Cooked breakfast not of best quality, and at 9am was not hot on being self-served from hot food holders. Staff really helpful and friendly. We usually use the sister hotel “The Waterside”, decided to try “The Gailes”, but would not return and will go back to The Waterside. Not terrible, pleasant, but the little things were niggly and mounted up - especially as it was a wedding anniversary night away.
