Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely room, bright and clean. Friendly lady at breakfast, lots of choice. Parking immediately opposite. My only comment would be that there’s only a light blind, so we were awake as soon as the sun rose, far earlier than I needed or wanted to be!

This hotel is small but welcoming, perfect for one or a few nights stay. Pleasant decoration, though bathroom could do with a little work as bath panel hanging off, but clean and functional. There is a log burner in the reception room which would be nice on a cold evening, and a garden with a fish pond which was convenient to take dog out to and had picnic tables to sit at. We only stayed one night and had dinner at a pub by the river which was nice and in waking distance. The hotel is opposite the castle which is lovely. Parking convenient across the road and reasonably priced. Breakfast was faultless and delicious with good few option as to suit all appetites, lovely coffee and fresh orange juice, served to order by lovely lady who I presumed either owns the place or has a close hand in running it. Was my fault, but when we arrived I hadn’t rung ahead to find the code for the front door, and the place was unattended at around 8pm. Was able to get the number from online enquiry however. Windows are single glazed so was some noise from passers by we could hear, and local pub, though road was quiet at night. This didn’t stop us sleeping well in the very comfy bed. Thank you

Car park and castle directly opposite, reastaurants, high street 5 minute walk, all very convenient for a short relaxing break. Simply arrive, park up and no need to use the car again until it's time to go home.

Beatiful b&b in the towm cente. Loved the secluded garden and was close to castle too. Friendly and kind staff made me feel at home. Would highly recommend

Very central and comfortable guest house with an interesting history. Car Park with electric charging was directly opposite and an excellent Italian restaurant was just up the road. Great freshly cooked breakfast.

I wanted to enjoy an English inn experience and got it with Woodfield House that had excellent service from the two ladies who saw to breakfast and the rooms. The Woodfield also has a wonderful and tranquil garden that has to be enjoyed after breakfast or to end your day! I was there for 12 days to attend my daughter's wedding, so it wasn't a holiday per se for me, but if I return to Chepstow for a future visit, I will book my stay at Woodfield.

We loved staying at Woodfield House. A lovely charming guest house, close to the train station and shops, and right next to the castle. The staff were very friendly, setting us up with a well cooked breakfast, in a very peacefull, beautiful dining area. I wish we could have stayed longer to explore the pretty courtyard and the quaint lounge area. We will definitely stay again given the opportunity in the future.

Chepstow is a lovely spot for a quick get-away and Woodfield House is ideally suited for visits to the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. The hotel itself is basic with self check-in and only modest amenities. I marked it down a little on cleanliness but it is an old building so getting the modern clean look is difficult. I guess the problem is that this listing photos are very very good and slightly mis-representative. Some maintenance to the carpets and bathrooms wouldn't hurt either. The staff (when you meet them) are friendly and helpful; the breakfast is limited in choice but actually very good. I think my conclusion is that this is a good value little place as long as you have reasonable expectations

Everything was amazing!! If only we had more days to stay!! Amazing stay, amazing breakfast, amazing people, extremely clean!! It was absolutely perfect!! Hope one day we visit again!! Thank you for everything!!

The property is a lovely old building. But you can see that it needs some investment. My room, the bathroom light has fallen off. In the bedroom the carpet was threadbare in parts. The skirting boards next to the bed and under the TV table were filthy. The paint was peeling off the windows. The bedding and towels, although they had been laundered had an awful musty smell. The bathroom was clean.

It was a lovely short stay the hotel was lovely, spotlessly clean, breakfast was realy good. The bed was to high for me there were two mattresses which i had to climb up to get into bed which was not comfortable. Apart from that i would return but not to that room I would request a lower floor if possible. The staff were very nice as well.

The bathroom was very poor with the bath held together with lots of tape. No separate shower. And not very clean. The bedroom was clean. The building was dated 1628(!) so expected it to hold unusual bits but felt unsafe using stairs.

Dreadful property, we booked a signature double room but were put in a standard room in an annexe building at end of the garden. There was thick dust in places, no handle on inside of patio door which is both a fire and security risk, bathroom door didn't shut properly, fire assembly point doesn't exist (thank god we didn't need it) stains on carpet and walls, shower Pol held up with hair bobbles, door and window frames on the outside are rotting, and there is someone living in the room upstairs who came in early hours of morning and woke us each night with his TV and then each morning with foul language from his friends. Rang hotelier on arrival about the room not being what we booked and found him to be rude and passing blame, he also hung up on me and then wouldn't answer again. Saving grace was he offered a refund of the difference in price of the two rooms. Unfortunately it was after this call that we discovered everything else wrong with the room but didn't have any faith he would answer phone. Plus points - breakfast was nice but lots of fruit flies around the continental items, lady who served us was lovely and properly itself is directly opposite Chepstow Castle so location is good

I visited Chepstow for a concert at the Castle and this hotel was the nearest hotel to the venue. It's old, homely and comfortable The contact free check in was a little worry with no text coming through in the morning, but this was sorted easily enough by phone call. The hotel is being renovated at the moment and TBH the rooms need a little love from the carpets to the bathroom. Everything is comfortable though and the location is perfect.

I loved my stay great location amazing view of the castle room 7 however if you don’t like some noise of the pub music and transports to and from the car park then maybe another room would be best but I like looking out the window and listening to people and the busyness! Very clean and comfy bed and all through the BnB is lovely and quirky . Tea /coffee facility in the room with a little kettle . Overall lovely stay will return and see more if the outstanding views of Chepstow/Monmouth .

The entry was not easy. My room #7 was on the top floor and the stairs were too steep. The floor was like a hilly walk. There was no shower. All in all a not very good experience. I cannot say I have stayed in worse places. This was terrible.

Room 4 could benefit from bathroom maintenance. Bath panel falling off and only one out of the 3 ceiling lights working. Other than that a lovely stay as always.

I cannot stress enough how noisy this place is. The floorboards in every single inch of the place creaks like you’ve never experienced before! It is so loud. What makes it worse is that the walls are paper thin and you can hear everyone’s movements throughout the whole hotel all the time, even down to their toilet flush! What’s more is that you can hear every single word people say outside all night because the walls and windows are paper thin. Needless to say neither of us slept a wink! The two good things are that the place is clean with tea/coffee in the the room etc and the breakfast was lovely. The lady serving the breakfast was super polite, helpful and friendly. Apart form that, there is no staff, contactless check in and check out, if you didn’t have any breakfast, you’d literally not see anyone the entire time which we thought was strange and not welcoming. Parking is in a small car park right opposite which is a good location, but it is not free!! It is also hard to find a space most of the time!! Convenient for us as we needed to walk to the train station. Can finish without stressing again how creaky these floorboards where, every single step you took. If you choose here, you’ll see I’m not exaggerating (room 4)!!

The good parts: I had an acceptable sleep and the location was good for where we wanted to visit in Chepstow and further abroad. Chepstow itself is a pleasant little place. Unfortunately, room 8 didn't have curtains or blinds so for light sleepers it wouldn't be the best. I wasn't happy with the bathroom as the toilet brush was clogged and the shower didn't work. When I called the staff in the morning I was told a plumber would be there in 20 mins. Well over an hour later we still had nothing, so we left.

Lovely spacious bedroom with teà/coffee making facilities . Clean bathroom. Excellent breakfast with a range of options. We booked it to stay close to a wedding venue . It was an ideal location.

The room was nice, but the staff weren’t very friendly. The location to the town centre and places to visit is great. I only had breakfast on my last day there, and while the variety was good, my poached eggs tasted a little weird. I would stay again though.

No code had been sent to us for the front door. Locks on front door are unreliable, as found by us & 2 other guests, & there is no reception. The room was damp, tested by meter in bedding, walls & floor, & the RH was very high. The bed was VV uncomfortable. However, breakfast, & the lady organising, were fab!

There was no actual contact from the owners/proprietors of the property. Everything was online and I could not get an answer to a query either on the phone or by email. It was a self-service check-in all very impersonal. The room was basic, in need of redecoration and was damp and cold. There were signs of previous water damage which I suspect made the room so cold and damp smelling and feeling. The breakfast was alright and the person serving was very nice.
There was no actual contact from the owners/proprietors of the property. Everything was online and I could not get an answer to a query either on the phone or by email. It was a self-service check-in all very impersonal. The room was basic, in need of redecoration and was damp and cold. The good parts: I had a decent sleep and the location was good for where we wanted to visit in Chepstow and further abroad. Chepstow itself is a pleasant little place. Unfortunately, room 8 was not up to scratch and wasn't ready to be used. During check-in I didn't receive all the codes I needed so they need to work on getting these out. The room didn't have curtains or blinds so for light sleepers it wouldn't be the best (see picture). The bog brush is an abject disgrace and grossly unhygienic (see picture). The shower didn't work, when I called the staff in the morning I was told a plumber would be there in 20 mins. Well over an hour later we still had nothing, so we left. Personally, I wouldn't put someone in there if I had a guest room like that. I would take responsibility for my establishment and make sure the facilities are fully working, and I would at least apologise for the inconvenience and offer a refund. There wasn't an apology or refund forthcoming. I work in sales so I spend my time trying to solve people's problems. I'm just here on holiday trying to enjoy myself but find I've been rinsed for a room that's not fit-for-purpose. Find another place.

The room was nice, but the staff weren’t very friendly. The location to the town centre and places to visit is great. I only had breakfast on my last day there, and while the variety was good, my poached eggs tasted a little weird. I would stay again though.

I wanted to enjoy an English inn experience and got it with Woodfield House that had excellent service from the two ladies who saw to breakfast and the rooms. The Woodfield also has a wonderful and tranquil garden that has to be enjoyed after breakfast or to end your day! I was there for 12 days to attend my daughter's wedding, so it wasn't a holiday per se for me, but if I return to Chepstow for a future visit, I will book my stay at Woodfield.

Chepstow is a lovely spot for a quick get-away and Woodfield House is ideally suited for visits to the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. The hotel itself is basic with self check-in and only modest amenities. I marked it down a little on cleanliness but it is an old building so getting the modern clean look is difficult. I guess the problem is that this listing photos are very very good and slightly mis-representative. Some maintenance to the carpets and bathrooms wouldn't hurt either. The staff (when you meet them) are friendly and helpful; the breakfast is limited in choice but actually very good. I think my conclusion is that this is a good value little place as long as you have reasonable expectations

Stayed here many times and always been excellent. Every room is unique and full of character but functional and clean. Breakfast included is superb and staff friendly. It is a shame the hotel is up for sale and not taking future bookings, I will miss staying there.

Dreadful property, we booked a signature double room but were put in a standard room in an annexe building at end of the garden. There was thick dust in places, no handle on inside of patio door which is both a fire and security risk, bathroom door didn't shut properly, fire assembly point doesn't exist (thank god we didn't need it) stains on carpet and walls, shower Pol held up with hair bobbles, door and window frames on the outside are rotting, and there is someone living in the room upstairs who came in early hours of morning and woke us each night with his TV and then each morning with foul language from his friends. Rang hotelier on arrival about the room not being what we booked and found him to be rude and passing blame, he also hung up on me and then wouldn't answer again. Saving grace was he offered a refund of the difference in price of the two rooms. Unfortunately it was after this call that we discovered everything else wrong with the room but didn't have any faith he would answer phone. Plus points - breakfast was nice but lots of fruit flies around the continental items, lady who served us was lovely and properly itself is directly opposite Chepstow Castle so location is good

This 1648 hotel has lots of character and having a four poster bed sets it apart from a chain hotel. Exceptional value with full breakfast included in reasonable price. Self-service check-in. Fabulous location looking across to castle.

I loved my stay great location amazing view of the castle room 7 however if you don’t like some noise of the pub music and transports to and from the car park then maybe another room would be best but I like looking out the window and listening to people and the busyness! Very clean and comfy bed and all through the BnB is lovely and quirky . Tea /coffee facility in the room with a little kettle . Overall lovely stay will return and see more if the outstanding views of Chepstow/Monmouth .

I only stayed one night as a stop over, the room was nice a clean, the only thing I didn’t like was all the 3 sets of doors up the stairs towards your room. I know they should be there as it’s an old building, but I do think you should be aware of this at the time of booking. Especially with 2 dogs it wasn’t made easy. My overall experience was good they served a lovely breakfast in the morning and it in a really nice location there plenty of places to walk and see. You are spoilt for places to have a evening meal. I would still recommend staying at this hotel.

Car park and castle directly opposite, reastaurants, high street 5 minute walk, all very convenient for a short relaxing break. Simply arrive, park up and no need to use the car again until it's time to go home.

What a lucky find, I just picked at random for an overnight stay In Chepstow for one of the concerts at The Castle. Couldn’t be better location, just a few seconds walk to the venue with a view of it from my window. Lovely quiet room at a great value price. The building is spectacular, friendly service and a superb breakfast. If ever I’m back in Chepstow I’ll stay here again

Very central and comfortable guest house with an interesting history. Car Park with electric charging was directly opposite and an excellent Italian restaurant was just up the road. Great freshly cooked breakfast.

Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely room, bright and clean. Friendly lady at breakfast, lots of choice. Parking immediately opposite. My only comment would be that there’s only a light blind, so we were awake as soon as the sun rose, far earlier than I needed or wanted to be!

Fantastic location. The Staff couldn't do enough to please. Excellent Breakfast. BUT the room we were in Number 12 was well lets say Poor. Very cold in the room only 1 radiater was working, Shower head was unusable to be honest kept falling down. The light in the bathroom above the mirror not working. Little thing like the toilet roll holder was broken. Generally needs a good make over. It was not worth £85 a night. This is a true review to my opinion.

A fantastic hotel opposite cheap public parking a short walk from Chepstow town centre. The hotel was clean, the room spacious, and the breakfast was superb served by an excellent staff member. Great value and highly recommended.

This property is accommodation only and you deal with no people. You are given a code etc. I would assume as the builders are still about that this is a work in progress if that is the case then the poor condition of the rooms can be forgiven. Apart from that it was in the perfect location for us.

The property is a lovely old building. But you can see that it needs some investment. My room, the bathroom light has fallen off. In the bedroom the carpet was threadbare in parts. The skirting boards next to the bed and under the TV table were filthy. The paint was peeling off the windows. The bedding and towels, although they had been laundered had an awful musty smell. The bathroom was clean.

I visited Chepstow for a concert at the Castle and this hotel was the nearest hotel to the venue. It's old, homely and comfortable The contact free check in was a little worry with no text coming through in the morning, but this was sorted easily enough by phone call. The hotel is being renovated at the moment and TBH the rooms need a little love from the carpets to the bathroom. Everything is comfortable though and the location is perfect.
