How to get to Stalis: By boat: There are ports in Agios Nikolaos, Sitia and Heraklion, where ferries can be taken to and from the port of Piraeus (Athens), Rhodes, Kassos and Karpathos. There are also ferries to Santorini, Spinalonga and Chrissi all of which can be done in a day as day trips. By plane: There are two international airports on Crete, Heraklion in the east and Chania in the west, while Sitia airport is located in the far east. In the summer planes arrive from all over the world. Transport: Tour operated buses meet the flights at Heraklion airport and local buses can also picked up here for onward connections via taxi. There is a taxi rank and limo service outside the airport for all destinations on Crete. Several car hire companies have offices within the airport for either pre-booked or on the spot hire.
