The only issue was the layout - it’s an OLD building and each ‘floor’ actually has several levels. We never did find the elevator again to go back down - we had to take the stairs…

Very good location and easy to get to. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Roof top is great for sunset. Could use a bit more storage like cabinets and the bathroom was very tight (although shower was huge and jetted tub was perfect size). Also we can hear footsteps above us but those are just small things and definitely not a deal breaker. Tall ceilings, and had a mix of modern and vintage feel. Breakfast was simple but delicious. Would definitely come back again. Thank you.

Great location near many shops and restaurants. The restaurant on the roof is delicious and has great views of the city. The rooms are reasonably sized but do be aware of the stair climbing in case you need accommodation. There is an elevator but it’s not ideal for more than one person.

Lovely hotel. Staff were excellent. Great location. Easy to walk to all the attractions but a bit of a bumpy walk to/from the station with a wheels case (cobbles everywhere) so maybe consider the bus or taxi. Quirky layout of hotel so maybe not for people with mobility issues. Plenty of places to eat nearby. Would definitely stay there again.

Great property and location. Beware of many stairs up to rooms and restaurant. Ask for main floor room if you have mobility issues. Front desk staff was very helpful for directions and taxis.

Wonderful location! The room was quiet, cold (in a good way) and large. The only downside was there was a very musty, mildewy stench that seemed to get worse throughout our stay. Not bad enough until the last night to say something and then we were leaving the next morning. The staff were lovely.

A unique property with a deep history. This is a boutique hotel with a personality. We thoroughly enjoyed the room, amenities, breakfast, and views from the panoramic lounge. Walkable to all the key sites in Florence. Highly recommend.

We arrived at the facility at 2pm and they offered for us to store our luggage which was very kind as our room wouldn’t be ready until 3pm. When we returned, it was very apparent that the room was nothing like any of the photos of the room I paid for. We navigated, with much difficulty the maze of stairs, doors and hallways back to the front desk and kindly asked them if there was a mix up, they said no, this was the Superior Double Bed with a garden view and that there was nothing they could do because they were completely booked. Upon returning to the listing on Expedia I found it was obvious that the room they gave me was the Economy Double Room with a Garden View, a room half the cost of what I paid. The hallways smelled like sewer every time we walked back to our room and the room itself was so empty and dark, it felt ominous. The staff was always kind and helpful, so I feel bad giving them a bad review, but the room was so awful, if I had known there was a possibility of getting a room like that, I never would have stayed there. It was by far the worst place we stayed in Italy. I’m sure the other rooms are nicer. In fact the one next to us was bright and airy and had a window 3 times the size of ours, and the ones in the listing that I paid for were very nice as well, but you do run the risk of getting stuck with a room like we had at this hotel.

We moved from a disappointing room to a very beautiful and well appointed suite. Everything is spotlessly clean! Staff everywhere in the hotel are professional and friendly. Laura at the registration desk has been outstandingly helpful to us.

The hotel is in an excellent location near. Lot of museums and the gardens. Our room was in the same tower as the restaurant. The room was spacious however it smelled like mildew which was a shame. The shower leaked onto the bathroom floor requiring two towels to keep it dry. The room just felt unfinished. The service was amazing and the view from the bar up top/restaurant is breathtaking. We had Manuel as our server and he was very friendly and made an effort to get to know us.

The room could have been cleaner as there were pieces of old chips from previous guests in the cupboard where the mini fridge is located. More than anything though the noise was too much. Rm549 there was always people coming and going, doors slamming/banging. There also seemed to have been some construction going on. The location was a good one.

Great location for a hotel in Florence, however that’s just about it. The air conditioning was terrible especially given the heat in the summer and we were given the excuse that it was due to the humidity however the air conditioning in the reception seemed to be working just fine. No free amenities, not even bottle of water (can’t take 75 cents out of the hotel cost to provide this?) which I would understand at a cheap hotel but this was not cheap. Rooms are pretty dated and simple with stained walls (a lick of paint isn’t very expensive) and very basic furniture. The rooftop bar seemed to be completely un attended whenever we checked. Not a good layout either with a maze of a stair system. If you’re looking for a great location this works but don’t expect much more.

We stayed in the Royal suite which is located on the ground floor. it was huge, clean and well equipped with a big double bath, a big separate shower and even a sauna. The Hotel is super well located. 20 min walk from the train station and a few steps from Ponte Vecchio. Plenty of shopping and food all around. I would go back.

Stayed for 2-nights in Deluxe King-Bed room and was treated to a great room over looking the street. Sounds Noisy, but was actually quiet. There is an additonal sound proof window installed that muted most street noise. The suite was quite large with a massive bathroom with jetted tub and shower!! Great location close to Tourist areas. Only frowning was trying to park a rental car which was known in advance. Will stay again

Great location. Unfortunately no AC which meant window needed to be open, very busy street making it difficult to sleep. WiFi was very poor signal. Overall most people would like enjoy significantly but wasn’t the right fit for me since I needed internet access and need temp control. Staff was nice.

Everything was good the room size, location, the cleanliness and cleaning staff. HOWEVER a young Italian man (unfortunately I did not get his name) who works in the front desk was very rude both during check in and check out. He spoke and treated me as If I did something wrong to him or as if he had a personal problem with me. Very unprofessional not welcoming at all.The lady at the front was very polite welcoming but that young man needs to be retrained on how to give customer service and treat paying customers with respect. Example: during check out he didnt great me or smile barely made any eye contact with me and asked for the local tax payment. As I pulled out my credit card he very rudely said "you where told the payment had to be in cash...the payment has to be in cash"..he repeated himself three times as if insiuating I didn't have it. I pulled out the money and gave it to him he didn't say thank you it was very insulting. He needs to be retrained or put on the cleaning staff if he hates dealing with happy tourist who come spend money and unwind.

A terrible experience! We were booked originally through Expedia but then began dealing with the hotel directly when we required additional nights at the end of our trip. We received confirmation in February for 3 separate reservations at this hotel. When we arrived back for the 3rd reservation, the last 2 night of our stay in Italy we were informed that they did not have a room for us for the last night and they were fully booked. After refusing to honour their booking they had no choice but to find us alternative accommodations and it meant moving hotels. They informed us we would have had to checkout at 11 am and not move into the new hotel until 3 pm, leaving us 4 hours to wander the streets! After fighting with them for 30 minutes they agreed to allow us to stay until 1 pm and stated that they could not guarantee that we could get into the other hotel before 3 pm. When we arrived for our second reservation, we were informed that our bags were in our room, which they were not. There was no information on how to call the front desk in our room so my husband had to go down and ask about our bags. They were brought up and dropped on the second floor and expected that he should bring them the rest of the way to the room. This hotel is a maze of corridors and stairways and not easily maneuvered. He had to call after the porter to have the bags brought up to our room. NOTE: They insisted the city tax had to be paid in cash unlike the other hotels that we stayed at.

The staff, room, lobby and location were exceptionally fabulous. Near everything and even had a roof top dining area with excellent food and gorgeous views of the city. The staff were friendly, super helpful, knowledgeable and went the extra mile for us. We couldn’t have been happier!

The hotel is in a great location. They charged us a cash only 7 euro per person per night tourist fee. When we went to our 2nd hotel we were told the tourist fee is only 6 euro per person per night and is payable by cash or charge. The room had an "odd odor" almost like cat urine and while the ground floor was nice due to the stairs and the heat, the cleaning staff did not seem to care about guests who were staying close to their cleaning closet as they were slamming doors and supplies around at 0700. The room was extremely comfortable and the washrooms were well kept. Overall an average experience for a great location.

Easy to walk to all the attractions but a bit of a bumpy walk to/from the station with a wheels case (cobbles everywhere) so maybe consider the bus or taxi. Quirky layout of hotel so maybe not for people with mobility issues. Plenty of places to eat nearby. Would definitely stay there again.

The Hotel La Scaletta is the ideal base for a visit to Florence. Only 2 minutes to the Ponte Vecchio in one direction and two minutes to the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens in the other. All the main attractions such as the Uffizi Gallery, Duomo and Baptistry are just a few walk minutes away. Florence is crazy busy but once you step in through the ancient archway to the hotel reception it is an oasis of calm. For our first few night we had a Garden Double Room set in a quiet courtyard and lovely garden. It was so peaceful and yet the hustle and bustle of the Ponte Vecchio was only a few metres away. We returned a few days later after a wedding and found we had been upgraded to a Superior Room on one of the upper floors. The room was delightful with a huge bed and lovely bathroom. Breakfast was good. Buffet-style with the option to eat on the rooftop terrace with amazing panoramic views of Florence. Florence is a really walkable city and there are loads of places to eat, grab a panini or a gelato within a few steps of the hotel. Taxis from Santa Maria Novella Station are plentiful but ranged in price from15 to 30 euros. **Word of warning!** If you use the tram to travel into the city from Florence Airport be on your guard for pickpockets! They target people stressing with suitcases getting onto the trams. They nearly got my husband's wallet! We loved our stay at the Hotel La Scaletta and highly recommend for perfect Florence holiday.

Being "across" the river from Florence worked out wonderfully. Short walk across the Ponte Vecchio was a delightful walk back in time and relaxing in nature. The location of this property was perfectly situated in the Old Town Florence so close to the Pont Vecchio. We were able to walk easily to the Duomo and Uffizi Gallery. We found incredible restaurants around every corner. The hotel is a former private residence and has so much charm. The breakfast was excellent. We visited the rooftop bar only once, the view was so-so. I would love to return some day, Florence has captured my heart.

Superb accomadation. Some rooms have 16 th ce they frescoes as it’s a converted palace. It’s within walking distance of the sights and is walking distance from many good restaurants in the Oltrano! Its own resturaunt on its terrace offers unrivalled views of Florence. It is an excellent location and staff are most helpful

Hade förväntat mig få uppleva lite mer av det historiska palatset. The hotel is centrally located on Via Guicciardini, perfectly situated between the Ponte Vecchio and Pitti Palace, making it very easy to explore the city on foot. Because the hotel is located within a historic 16th-century building, finding our room and navigating the split staircases and different floor levels took a little getting used to. Our room was small, but it was clean and comfortable, and perfectly manageable for two people as long as we stayed organized with our unpacked belongings. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Manuel was especially helpful, giving us advice on navigating Florence as well as excellent bar and restaurant recommendations. One of the highlights was the lovely rooftop bar, with beautiful views over the city and the Boboli Gardens near Pitti Palace. The morning breakfast was also excellent, with a substantial selection and a very pleasant atmosphere. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily choose Hotel La Scaletta again when we return to Florence.
