It clearly says nonsmoking but as soon as you walked in it smelled like pot. They don’t have an elevator and put us on the 3rd floor when I have a son with mobility issues.

Great value. Very clean (except for 2nd floor carpeting) and safe. few minutes ride to riverwalk and downtown wilmington. interior corridors. coffee in lobby.

Having a wedding in Wilmington at the height of BEACH SEASON, I tried to find a hotel within my budget and that was Coastal Suites came in. The positives of this no frills hotel: clean room, very comfortable bed /pillows and friendly/helpful staff. The negatives: dirty carpets in the common areas, no elevator to the 2nd and 3rd floors and no mirror in the room except for the bathroom.

Dave, the manager, was quite helpful and professional. The property was clean and well maintained. The parking lot was well lit and provided handicap parking. The room included a microwave and a small refrigerator. Coffee pot was broken and coffee was unavailable. For myself, the toilets were too low. Shower was awesome! We would definitely stay there again.

This was a real gem for the money. Hotel is being remodeled so there is some mess with that but otherwise clean and comfortable staff is friendly and the coffee was great!

We stayed 2 nights and didn’t have any problems other than really loud guests on our floor. Staff are all friendly and helpful. Everything in the room worked, refrigerator was a good decent size and kept food & drinks cold. Didn’t use the microwave. Tv was a good size and worked. A/C worked great and kept our room cool. Room & bathroom were clean. Lobby is always open as it’s one of the doors to go in and out of. They do have a vending machine with snacks & drinks which is nice. Only things I didn’t like was there are 3 floors and NO elevator. You have to walk up stairs to get to the 2nd & 3rd floors. They have carpet throughout except for the first floor hallway, the carpet is nasty and disgusting looking. The guy at the front desk did mention they are planning to take the carpet up in the future. If they put new floors down throughout the halls and rooms, I would probably stay there again for a night or two. It’s in a good location, close to lots of restaurants and shopping. They do have plenty of parking which is well lit at night. There are train tracks very close and apparently a train comes thru late every night because we heard it both nights around 11pm-12am (it’s pretty loud).

This property was OK. They don’t offer breakfast and they don’t have a swimming pool. You have to ask for a hair dryer, one doesn’t come in your room. There are no phones in your room. I will not be going back there. For the price they should at least offer more.

The room I was in has no smoke alarm, the windows are bolted shut. Both of these are fire hazard issues. The carpet was clearly not properly cleaned or maintained, there were huge black and brown stains . The bathroom had roaches living in the tub. So, this place needs some work!

The cleanliness of the rugs was horrible, I'm sure they were vacuum but they were so stained I didn't even want to take my shoes off. Everything else was clean but all the rugs need to be changed in this whole place, nothing but stains everywhere even on the stairs, other than that everything else was pretty clean but it just grossed me out

The room was a basic older super 8 room, mattresses were ok. Sheets smelled a bit musty. The carpet in the hallways and rooms is truly horrifying, looks like it has never been cleaned. Bathrooms are showing their age. The first room we checked into had a broken ac. Moved us to another room with no trouble. Staff was friendly. Would not walk on carpet in bare feet.

The room was much cleaner than we expected considering the worn disgusting carpet we saw as we walked up the stairs and down the hall to our room. There was a strong musty smell that hit us every time we walked in our room that I guess we adjusted to until the next time we left and came back. The AC was very loud and didn't work well unless it was running constantly. Again, besides the carpet, the room was very clean, as was the lobby area, but they would do well to rip out that carpet. The housekeeping staff was also helpful.

As others have stated, the carpet is absolutely disgusting!! I wouldn’t walk around barefoot in the room. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. Other than that, it was ok. For the price I wasn’t expecting much but that carpet needs to go!

The staff was very friendly. In so many places I go, they choose professionalism over friendliness. I appreciate that also, but it's different. The people here, especially David are not just helpful, but eager to help. It's very nice and I am thankful.

Terrible experience - 1st room we got the toilet was leaking. Got a new room in the 2nd floor - there is no elevator so it took us a few trips to bring our luggage up. Room had 2 double beds - very cramped. No safe in the room for valuables. Rugs very dirty. But the worst is the fact that there is not staff on property after 11pm. So around 3am all 3 nights of our stay there were people running up & down the hall, banging on doors, yelling, for over an hour plus. With no staff on property we felt very unsafe & didnt dare speak up. When coming back in the evenings, there were multiple instances of police presence at multiple locations around the hotel, lights flashing. During the day there were people hanging around the hotel having screaming fights. Did not feel lime a safe area at all. I know you get what you pay for, and for $110/night i shouldnt expect much, but safety & staff should be included at all price points. Will never stay at this property or any Coastal property ever again.

The Coastal Inn was a great place to stay for our short visit to UNCW. It was very close to the University, Downtown, and shopping. Plenty of places to eat close by as well. The staff was very courteous and attentive to our needs, always making sure everything was okay with our stay. We would definitely stay there again, and recommend The Coastal Inn to anyone wanting an economical, pleasant hotel to stay at in Wilmington.

The Coastal Inn was a great place to stay for our short visit to UNCW. It was very close to the University, Downtown, and shopping. Plenty of places to eat close by as well. For the price, this is a good bargain hotel. If you aren’t looking for the Taj Mahal or anything super fancy this is a decent hotel with very friendly management. We only stayed one night to drop our daughter off at UNCW. Property is old but redone and very clean. Clerk at desk was super nice and complimentary coffee in lobby very good. Appreciated the refrigerator in room although a hair dryer would’ve been nice. As for location, not an unsafe area but was adjacent to a drug treatment center. We didn’t encounter any issues but could see how it might be a problem.

Stayed here with my family for a small beach getaway. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Building could definitely use some upgrades. You can also tell that this used to be a smoking hotel as the rooms smelt like cigarettes. Saying that the rooms were clean, just a funky smell. The hotel is also next to an opioid clinic and there were some sketchy characters walking around outside at night. For the price we paid and how much time we actually spent in the room we had a pleasant stay.

My stay at Coastal Suites was great!! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, they had vending machines which was convenient late at night not have to drive to a gas station or somewhere else, and the staff were very friendly and always asked if we were doing good and how our stay was so far!! David at the front was amazing, super nice and made sure we had everything we needed the whole stay. 10/10 would definitely stay here again!!!!

This was a real gem for the money. Hotel is being remodeled so there is some mess with that but otherwise clean and comfortable staff is friendly and the coffee was great!

Yes this hotel does show some signs of its age; but, the rooms were clean and the beds extremely comfortable. With the feeling of being in a safe place and the quietness of the area and hotel we were able to get a good night's rest. There is a small patio out in front of the hotel that has a grill along with several tables and chairs that provided a nice opportunity to be outside after driving for hours and meet other travelers. There are plenty of places within walking distance or a short drive to get a bite to eat as well. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay again if in the area.

This property was OK. They don’t offer breakfast and they don’t have a swimming pool. You have to ask for a hair dryer, one doesn’t come in your room. There are no phones in your room. I will not be going back there. For the price they should at least offer more.

Room: Carpet? disgustingly stained and dirty-looking floor. Bed too hard and uncomfortable for wife to have a good night's sleep, causing numbness, tingling, and cramps in hips/legs. She, also, had to sleep on top sheet because bottom sheet was pilled-up and dirty-looking. Also, room not soundproof, big gap under room door and can hear in detail other residents coming and going from rooms down hallway, including a barking dog. Bathroom: tiled floor and countertop more sanitary than bedroom area; shower was adequate, but seniors beware of slanted and stained tub floor. Breakfast: minimal options-fruit and bagels; coffee not strong enough for me but okay for wife and son. Building: No elevator. Hallway flooring more sanitary than bedroom floor. Staff: Super-friendly

I would stay again. For the price, it was a bargain. There were just a few little things that I noticed on my stay. The space under the door is big enough to let sounds from the hallway sometimes. With the A/C running no big deal but at 2 am someone was in the hallway talking loud. The door also my not be a solid door. The place was very clean. The toilet in my room was low to the ground and I am 6 feet tall so I felt like I was sitting low like a child potty training. but no big deal. I do know that all the toilets are not this low. The fridge and microwave were a plus. The area felt safe. I have told a few friends about the place and would surely stay again. The cleaning staff seemed very thorough too. I went to breakfast and back and they were really taking they time on cleaning each room with care.

We booked a room here for two nights. The room smelled a little moldy, we thought maybe it was from the a/c window unit. It was clean, however the hallway carpets are SEVERELY stained up. We didn’t notice until late into the night that there were various cockroaches coming from the baseboards. We couldn’t leave in the middle of the night with a child so we just tied up all of our bags into trash bags and let the staff know promptly the next morning. They did reimburse us for the night we chose not to stay. Unless a dwelling is severely infested, the roaches do not come out until night. Definitely check this if you stay here. Staff was nice and explained that they do the best they can with exterminators.
