Polynesian Cabins by Kon Tiki

The Cabins are great for backpackers just needing an affordable please to sleep and shower, way better than a hostel or guest house. The beds are really confortable and A/C works. They also have a cafe and rooftop bar! Parking cost $20 extra and I wish they had something to lock my pacsafe bag to while I was out, but really enjoyed my stay.

Kon Tiki is so cute! The "Reeftop" Bar (roof top) and restaurant one floor below are stunning. Rooms and facilities are super clean, modern, and perfect for our needs. Great coffee and breakfast in the lobby area!

Great hotel near the cruise port, 6 minute walk. Very small rooms but the place was clean and they have a cafe on the ground floor and a restaurant and a panoramic bar on the 8th floor. For one night, I highly recommend. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful.

The place is nice and has an amazing rooftop bar and restaurant. We stayed one night after coming back from bora bora. Most people go to the airport hotels but I wanted a small night life.

We needed a place to stay on our way to Moorea and this fit the bill. Right next to the ferry terminal. It was ultra basic. The room had just enough room to stand and turn around. Our two backpacks and small duffel were pretty cramped….but it was clean and quiet…no windows and a bunk in the opposite room on top of us. Very space saving. No private bathrooms but it was fine. Very nice terrace “lounge” for making coffee and chilling. No frills for sure but cheap and basic. Parking is difficult but for a fee they will give you access to a lot down the street.

Perfectly adequate room for one night before an early exit to the airport. Staff were happy to look afer our bags until check-in time and arranged our taxi to the airport. Shared areas were clean and well appointed. We had a lovely dinner at the Surf House on the 7th floor with lovely views.

The shared bathrooms were clean and modern with amenities like a rain shower head and nice shamooo, conditioner and body wash. There is a nice common area to rest and dine. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is a very convenient location near the airport and ferries

The cabins are part of the bigger hotel. The hotel is lovely with a popular rooftop bar. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The cabins are on floor 1. The rooms ar tiny with a comfortable bed. The shared bathrooms were modern and clean. There is also an lovely communal area.

The place was very clean, small rooms, TV Internet, morning coffee, tee free, worked fine for us. On the first floor there are no toilets inside private rooms, all shared, 24 rooms six showers /toilets plus 2 toilets only for potentially 50 people if there are 2 pers/room. That is crowed. During our stay max we had is 50 % occupancy ,so it was no problem. Good location.

The bed was comfortable, and the room was fairly clean, but the shared bathrooms/showers were not clean, half had no hand soap, or toilet paper. Stay in a regular room not a cabin!

My boyfriend and I had a great stay here! Our room and the entire hotel were extremely clean. The staff was very friendly and we were able to store our bags at the hotel for several hours before check-in. The shared bathrooms were great and included shampoo, body wash, and conditioner. The front desk kindly reserved a taxi for us to the airport when our stay was over. Would highly recommend and would happily stay here again!

Exceptionally clean, modern, and private facilities, including bathrooms which were shared but cleaned regularly.

The common bathrooms were often dirty with unflushed toilets, empty or unworkable soap dispensers, and wet floors. No provisions anywhere for your things - take a shower, leave your clothes on the floor in a break. Staff was rude and unhelpful. Access from a traffic standpoint is a nightmare.

Great location, about a 10-minute drive from the airport and right behind the ferry terminal. The reception staff were friendly, and the showers and toilets were kept clean. The Polynesian Cabin double room has a bit of an odd layout since you have to climb a ladder to get into the bed. Overall, it’s fine for a one-night layover in Papeete.

We were very happily surprised at the cleanliness and the quality of the room and common area for the guest. We used it for a transition spot and extremely pleased for the affordable price.

We did not enjoy our stay here. The room was even tinier than expected for the cost. People from other rooms sat all evening in the common room within feet from our door so there was little privacy. The shared bathroom facilities were alway busy, out of toilet paper, and not cleaned. The front desk staff were moderately friendly. Because it’s in a busy part of the city parking was an additional cost. But it’s in close proximity to the ferry and offered many places nearby to eat.

The cabins are VERY small, but the loft bed was very comfortable. Shared bathrooms were clean, but very hot. Was grateful for a/c in our cabin. It was fine for one night, but wouldn’t do it again.

TINY room! We had to leave 2 of our bags in the shared hallway. The bunk bed had a straight metal ladder that was not easy to climb. Thin walls! I could hear everything in the hallways. I compare it to a jail cell (that I've only seen on TV of course). The shared bathrooms/shower were HOT with no fans. The wash basin area had no place to put a toiletry bag even.

We stayed on the 1st floor. The 8th floor has a rooftop bar. We could hear the deep bass sounds from the music the ENTIRE night and into the morning when we left at 5:30am. Having said this, the upside was that the hotel staff were extremely friendly, professional and helpful. It was also prefect for a one night stay as the price was right. The room was very small but it was perfectly appointed with super comfortable bunk beds, TV’s, outlets and extremely clean.

dod not realize what type of room we were assigned from the expedia site description. Communal bathroom and living area and a bed with a ladder up to the ceiling with only a slither of floor space.

Noisy until the nightclub next door closes at 5am. Don't feel like the sweat if areas. Fine for a one night stop if you're heading to the ferry terminal early in the morning.

Eine schlecht bzw. nicht belüftete Kabine ohne Fenster. Wirklich nur in dringenden Nitfällen für eine Übernachtung zu empfehlen. Ansonsten stimmt der Beschrieb: Gemeinschaftsbäder, keine Fenster, Klimaanlage und Gemeinschaftsraum verfügbar.

The Cabins are extremely tiny and claustrophobic, so i upgraded to a standard room which was double the price, but backed onto the fire station and was very noisy, also the smoking area was right beneath my widow

The a/c unit works well. Bed was very comfortable. The big surprise was we had to use a ladder (4 rungs) to climb to the bed. Pics did not show set up like the one we had. I would reserve it again for what we needed but the bed would have to be ladder less.

Overall, our stay at the Kon Tiki Hotel was pleasant — the location is excellent, right across from the ferry terminal, and the facilities are modern and comfortable. However, as returning guests, we were quite disappointed to be charged an additional fee for storing our luggage during our trip to other islands, even though we were coming back to stay at the hotel again. This policy feels very unreasonable and is something we have never experienced at other hotels. It’s a point the hotel should really reconsider, especially for repeat guests.

I stayed 2 nights in the Kon Tiki Hotel's first floor small cabins: one night on arrival to French Polynesia from the USA, and the other the night before I left. Excellent stays both times. Clean comfortable rooms, convenient location for access to all that's in Papeete and to all the ferry services right across the street that go to many other islands. On both stays, the front desk staff was very friendly, efficient, and helpful - especially in allowing me to store luggage before my check-in time, and making my room available to me just as soon as a clean room was available. There's an excellent coffee shop on ground level where the service is equally good, and it's open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. There's also a lively rooftop open-air bar with a wonderful view over Papeete harbor looking toward Moorea that stays open late and is quite popular. A special shout-out to the young ladies at the front desk who can provide comprehensive information about tours, and work miracles to book any such tours and events. They helped me get an incredible last-minute tour of the Papeno'o Valley on Tahiti Nui, which turned out to be the best day of a totally wonderful trip to French Polynesia. They were also able to identify available options for me to see a Tahitian Dance Show with buffet, and once I had selected the show at the Intercontinental they booked my reservation there as well. The Kon Tiki charges a fair price, and I highly recommend them for a convenient & comfortable stay in Papeete!

Polynesian Cabins by Kon Tiki provided everything I was looking for in an accommodation on Tahiti Island: luggage storage pending my check-in; a small, safe place to sleep & store my luggage during my stay; a location convenient to town, the ferries, & the roulottes; dining & bar facilities; assistance with arranging any excursions; English speaking staff; and all at a reasonable price. Kon Tiki came through for me in every way! A special shout-out to the ladies who staff the tour/excursions desk in the lobby: they took time to understand what I was looking for in tours, they were highly competent, well informed and connected with the available tour companies, eager to assist, pleasant, thorough, accurate, and helpful in every way - in short, THE BEST of the best! If I'm ever in Papeete again, this is where I'll stay. I highly recommend the Polynesian Cabins by Kon Tiki - a very comfortable, welcoming place to call home while visiting Tahiti. Look no further!

Quick and easy checkin. Clean facilities. Great location across from the ferry terminal + walking distance to Papeete market. Gentleman at the front desk was amazingly helpful with recommendations on places to visit and drive to around the island.

This was our third stay at the Kon Tiki Hotel, but unfortunately it was the least satisfying. The room we were given this time was very small and felt quite cramped, with barely enough space to place our luggage. On top of that, despite the fact that we were returning guests and stayed for several nights in total, the hotel still charged us an additional fee for storing our luggage while we were away. This was disappointing and felt unreasonable, especially considering our repeated stays.

Staff was excellent when booking tours. The bathrooms/showers where cleaned up almost every hour. The A/C in the room where great.

Horrible service. Had to pay if we wanted to check in early, even though the room was empty and ready. The receptionist told us we could chill after the check out and leave our luggage there until our evening flight. Apparently another receptionist later didn't agree with that and came and kicked us out from the common area as we were no longer their guests, despite of having just stayed there 2 nights.

Property was ok for what it is. Some of the staff are not helpful, but others are amazing.

Property is great. Right across the street from the ferry. There’s 5-6 restaurants around within walking distance. The Main Street is fine. Be careful walking at night. Odd there’s no real easy accessible way of renting bicycles. Not the hotels fault. Hotel itself is great! Restaurant and a rooftop bar offer pristine views!

Stayed here for one night to take a flight to a different island the next day. The hotel is close to the airport (19-20 usd taxi ride from the airport). Pretty close to everything within walking distance if you need to do some shopping before continuing your journey. If you’re staying in one of the upper floors the noise might be an issue due to the rooftop (which was a lot of fun) I was on the first floor and had no trouble at all. Check in process was fast and efficient.

After a stay in Moorea, very convenient in front of the ferry and walking distance to downtown Papeete. New place, very well done !

What a great find! The bed was very comfortable and the hotel is in the perfect spot across from the ferry terminal! We were so happy with this hotel.

Stayed in the dorm style bunks, rooms were super clean and bathrooms and common spaces also. We were extremely surprised at the 2 restaurants/ 2 bars being quite high end and needing reservations for both. We were expecting more on a backpacker vibe from the room choices, although we saw later that there were much more expensive rooms available. We were not prepared to dine at higher places during our stay and did have to find other food options. Staff awesome, and location great!

Friendly, helpful staff at Reception. Comfortable bunk bed, near bathroom facilities. Good breakfast, no hassle, would definitely recommend to other travellers - good central location almost opposite the inter-island ferry terminal too.
