They had major construction 🚧 going in the middle of summer. Be advied. Noise since 7 am to 4 pm. Check ahead. The gardes are lovely.

Paradise! Lovely pool, great food, nice spa. Perfect for solo travel - great service and so relaxing. Walking distance to Aix city centre where many day tours go from.

Le Pigonnet is a dream! Beautiful hotel and surrounding land, as well as fantastic staff and service. The hotel is perfectly situated for both quiet from street/city noise and walkability to Aix. The spa is wonderful with rejuvenating treatments and a fantastic wellness area. I’d never been to a hammam before this visit, and it was the most relaxing space where my travel weariness and tight muscles finally relaxed (especially during my stop at the dry sauna afterward where there are tools to stretch different parts of the body). This is the BEST experience I have had in my 12+ years of solo travel. I will absolutely be returning as soon as I can to both Aix and le Pigonnet! 10/10 recommend!

The hotel is just outside the main area of Aix-en-Provence making it very peaceful. It is also walled from the road. You feel like you are on a country estate. The grounds are tranquil, beautiful gardens, many fountains, several pools, all but one heated. A large, beautiful dining room and several small rooms for reading and relaxing inside the hotel. .Amazing spa, I had the best facial of my life there with Carla.

How can give this place a negative star. It was under major construction, nothing open, restaurant, gym, they were extremely rude! The only people who were nice were the 2 that gave us the approval for us to check k out. It was the worst experience ever!! It had glue fumes, smelled, cutting tile all over the grounds with a tile saw outside our window Plants all over in pots, weeds. We talked to the management we got the ok to checkout without penalty. Got an email to prove the conversation. But now after, they are not refunding our money.

Hotel staff and the gardens are really great. The hotel is in the middle of a renovation and we definitely noticed. Based on the amount we paid, if they were undergoing Renos the next time we were in the area we would book somewhere else. When the Renos are complete we would for sure stay there again!

Our family stayed in the family suite. It is spacious and provided our family with room to spread out in. The only negative is the hotel is older so there isn’t sufficient lightening in the bedroom. Other than that, it’s great! The property is beautiful with a large garden. There are two swimming pools. There is a lovely restaurant we had dinner in one night and breakfast every morning. There is also a separate bar that serves food and drinks. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Fails to meet the standard you would expect of a 5 star, mainly due to poor service and a few other issues. Often when trying to order a drink for the pool, you had to actively seek out staff who would be clustered together on their phones and not attending to guests. There was also a dirty McDonalds bag left on our floor for over 24 hrs without being removed by cleaners. We got turn down service only 1 out of 3 evenings, giving an inconsistent experience and often the pool area was left covered in used towels, glassware and plates. Also they advertise a free drink and music/ reading at 4pm each day, but this never happened on any day that we were there. Overall a pretty hotel that needs to improve its service to achieve value for the price - this seems to be a consistent topic on other reviews too.

Hotel s very nice with a beautiful grounds, but pretty far away from old town, basically 25-30 min walk through residential neighborhood with nothing to see around. Our check in was excellent, but room had plugged sink, poor working toilet and not working charge outlet. We called for service, and same person who valley pur car tried to fix our sink. He really tried, but it didn’t work. Breakfast was ok with very mediocre service, no one knew what are they doing and who is serving who. We had to wait for a long time for coffee and our eggs. But food was very nice even with pretty limited options for 5 stars hotel.

Would summarise as very disappointing. Aside from the construction which we knew of beforehand, this is definitely not a 5 star hotel or 5 star service. Our room was aged, the towel dryer didn’t work hence we used soggy towels for 2 days. There were also holes in our bed linen / no shower gel. When we notified the head of the hotel in the morning, there was no apology, just an acknowledgment. When we came back to the hotel 7 hours later, the room was uncleaned and none of the issues we stated were addressed. We had to then ask reception again and again there was no apology. The younger staff were helpful and friendly. One man gave up a great restaurant recommendation and was quick to send us some fresh towels. However the hotel is let down by the management (head of reception). Even when we were leaving, she did not utter a word. The positives are the bed was comfortable and the garden is very beautiful.

The property is a charming ancient structure, nicely surrounded by a luxuriant garden that during the springtime must be amazing . Distant a twenty minutes walk from the city center. The room was clean and pleasant .

We loved our stay at Le Pigonnet. The property is over 100 year old mansion! There were different parts of the hotel that you can stay at each having their own pool. The gardens were out of a story book. It was pure serenity! However our room had some plumbing issues and the view not that great. They accommodated and handled the situation with such grace. We absolutely will come back to stay there!

Staff are very professional. Service was very friendly. Room was well presented but I found the bed and pillows a little hard for my taste. Restaurant food was ok but could be better.

All staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Excellent and comfortable room which was an upgrade. Fabulous dinner in the restaurant and the sommelier who also ran the bar and restaurant was fun and helpful. Secure on-site parking which was included. Great position 1km off autoroute and 10 minutes walk into town centre. Good value for money at this time of year.

Spent a couple of nights here after a Rhône cruise. We were unlucky with the weather which was over C 40 and had to spend 11am to 6pm in the air conditioning. However breakfast and dinner on the glorious shady terrace with view of the garden and Mt St Victoire was heaven. Staff charming, beautiful buffet breakfast (with freshly squeezed orange juice), eggs cooked order, fruit etc. Dinner is more of a fine dining experience but with relaxed friendly service and the best sea bass I’ve ever had. Prices aren’t cheap but not silly either and worth every penny. We will be back but in a different season so we can fully enjoy the garden, our enormous private terrace and swimming pool.

We loved our stay at Le Pigonnet. The property is over 100 year old mansion! There were different parts of the hotel that you can stay at each having their own pool. The gardens were out of a story book. It was pure serenity! However our room had some plumbing issues and the view not that great. They accommodated and handled the situation with such grace. We absolutely will come back to stay there!

Our family stayed in the family suite. It is spacious and provided our family with room to spread out in. The only negative is the hotel is older so there isn’t sufficient lightening in the bedroom. Other than that, it’s great! The property is beautiful with a large garden. There are two swimming pools. There is a lovely restaurant we had dinner in one night and breakfast every morning. There is also a separate bar that serves food and drinks. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Ugliest rooms I have ever seen. No character at all. Bathroom only had a tub and hand shower. I wanted a room with a walk-in shower but they said they were full. They were totally inflexible. When I said I wouldn’t stay there they were going to charge me for the entire stay. I was able to negotiate for half which was crazy.

Le Pigonnet is a dream! Beautiful hotel and surrounding land, as well as fantastic staff and service. The hotel is perfectly situated for both quiet from street/city noise and walkability to Aix. The spa is wonderful with rejuvenating treatments and a fantastic wellness area. I’d never been to a hammam before this visit, and it was the most relaxing space where my travel weariness and tight muscles finally relaxed (especially during my stop at the dry sauna afterward where there are tools to stretch different parts of the body). This is the BEST experience I have had in my 12+ years of solo travel. I will absolutely be returning as soon as I can to both Aix and le Pigonnet! 10/10 recommend!

Hotel s very nice with a beautiful grounds, but pretty far away from old town, basically 25-30 min walk through residential neighborhood with nothing to see around. Our check in was excellent, but room had plugged sink, poor working toilet and not working charge outlet. We called for service, and same person who valley pur car tried to fix our sink. He really tried, but it didn’t work. Breakfast was ok with very mediocre service, no one knew what are they doing and who is serving who. We had to wait for a long time for coffee and our eggs. But food was very nice even with pretty limited options for 5 stars hotel.

Would summarise as very disappointing. Aside from the construction which we knew of beforehand, this is definitely not a 5 star hotel or 5 star service. Our room was aged, the towel dryer didn’t work hence we used soggy towels for 2 days. There were also holes in our bed linen / no shower gel. When we notified the head of the hotel in the morning, there was no apology, just an acknowledgment. When we came back to the hotel 7 hours later, the room was uncleaned and none of the issues we stated were addressed. We had to then ask reception again and again there was no apology. The younger staff were helpful and friendly. One man gave up a great restaurant recommendation and was quick to send us some fresh towels. However the hotel is let down by the management (head of reception). Even when we were leaving, she did not utter a word. The positives are the bed was comfortable and the garden is very beautiful.

I had pre-paid a 3 nights stay and had to leave a day before, as there was a cab strike in Marseille which prevented us from getting our train. I explained the manager that we had to leave one day earlier, as we would have to drive from Aix to Paris to get our plane. He refused to give us a refund from our last day, although acknowledging that we were unable to take the train in Marseilles as planned. Lots of other tourists were left on their own as unlike us they didn’t have a car. I feel the hotel staff should be prepared to deal with such situations and to give refunds to customers like me, who are trapped during these disruptive strikes, which unfortunately are pretty common in France.

The property gardens were beautiful and the food delicious. However, the room price was expensive for overall quality. Also, when booking a taxi for us, the hotel booked one at over twice the correct price!!

Overall nice property with beautiful gardens and in a tranquil setting out of the main town. Fails to meet the standard you would expect of a 5 star, mainly due to poor service and a few other issues. Often when trying to order a drink for the pool, you had to actively seek out staff who would be clustered together on their phones and not attending to guests. There was also a dirty McDonalds bag left on our floor for over 24 hrs without being removed by cleaners. We got turn down service only 1 out of 3 evenings, giving an inconsistent experience and often the pool area was left covered in used towels, glassware and plates. Also they advertise a free drink and music/ reading at 4pm each day, but this never happened on any day that we were there. Overall a pretty hotel that needs to improve its service to achieve value for the price - this seems to be a consistent topic on other reviews too.

The hotel is just outside the main area of Aix-en-Provence making it very peaceful. It is also walled from the road. You feel like you are on a country estate. The grounds are tranquil, beautiful gardens, many fountains, several pools, all but one heated. A large, beautiful dining room and several small rooms for reading and relaxing inside the hotel. .Amazing spa, I had the best facial of my life there with Carla.

If you’re visiting in Aix, this is the place to stay! While a bit out of the town center so a small hassle to get to, the property itself makes it worth while. A little garden oasis brings you to paradise in Provence. Wonderfully attentive and personable staff going the extra mile to make sure everything is comfortable and a gorgeous property makes you never want to leave.

All staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Excellent and comfortable room which was an upgrade. Fabulous dinner in the restaurant and the sommelier who also ran the bar and restaurant was fun and helpful. Secure on-site parking which was included. Great position 1km off autoroute and 10 minutes walk into town centre. Good value for money at this time of year.

Luxury from start to finish! The hotel, location and FOOD was divine! We loved our stay here and will be back. We would have liked a little bench or stool to put our clothes on in the room and a steamer, but everything else was perfect.

I loved my stay at Le Pigonnet. The staff was very welcoming. The gardens were beautiful and you felt like you were outside of the city while being conveniently located by the heart of Aix which was within walking distance. The restaurant was also amazing. A true French culinary treat. I will be definitely stay there again in the future!

My room was next to the staircase and it was quite noisy. I could hear people going up and down the stairs and people talking late into the evening in the hallways. It was an 18 minute into the city Center which wasn’t ideal. Bathroom was really small and compact. It took some manuvering to get in and out of the shower. Plus was the gorgeous gardens and charm of the hotel. Hôtel wanted to charge me 50 euro cork fee for a bottle of wine I brought into the bar. I thought 50 euros was exorbitant.

The property is amazing but they have a huge issue with mosquitoes. Unless it is resolved we will not be able to stay long term, which is a shame. I know hotels in Aix that solved that problem. Le Pigonnet should really find a way. Then it will be again the best hotel in Aix.
The property is amazing but they have a huge issue with mosquitoes. Unless it is resolved we will not be able to stay long term, which is a shame. I know hotels in Aix that solved that problem. Le Pigonnet should really find a way. Then it will be again the best hotel in Aix.

This is a wonderful hotel. The gardens and grounds and pool are so Provence, so peaceful, and so beautiful. The staff is excellent.
