Umbrella Hotel Brooklyn - Newly Renovated

Hotel was adequate for the price. No amenties but clean and quiet. Parking lot was challenging, it was a narrow alley.

Limited dining and parking sucks

This was terrible experience, we arrived late and they gave us last room with the toilet where was continuous noise and after 1 min i understood that there is no way to sleep there. By the was this room is on minus 1 st floor. They changed a room because i saw one that lady was cleaning but it was not easy. Bed is awful, every time you turn it make noise like it is breaking. There is parking only for 4 cars not like it is described in hotel amenities on the site. So really never again, very unpleasant experience.

There is only parking for 5 cars. The driveway to get to the parking is very narrow. Good luck finding parking in the area. The lobby area is a joke. The room was ok.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Smells so stongly of chemical cleaner it made mw gag and my eyes water upon entering the room. Within 2 minutes I had an awful headach and difficulty breathing. I left the room with my bags and told the clerk i was leaving due to the overpowering smell and i would be requesting a refuns via Hotels.com. The parki g lot behind the building wa so narrow my truck barely fit through with the mirrors pulled in. I spent 10 minutes trying to get into a parking spot and scrached my truck badly in 2 places. Upon leaving there was no turn radius for me to turn around and i had to back down the narrow alleyway. Thus cauemsed extensive scraping and damage to my truck as I only had my backup camera to use and 1 inch on each side to squeeze out. I am disappointed that this hotel is one that Hotels.com offers on its site. Upon contacting customer support, the hotel would not answer their phone, even as i watched the clerk sit at the front deak as I was in the call. I was also told the hotel had to approve my refund and it was not up to Hotels.com to refund. I will be following up with them until this is resolved.

Property was good for a short stay. The “available” parking was very small & inconvenient. Very, very small space & drive way. Barely could fit my suv.

Honestly so catfished. This is more like a motel. The room is so small. Not worth the price also. While I was there the parking lot collapsed in the back… literally insane. The rooms are so run down wall was falling off the furniture was broken. But the staff is so sweet.

Establishment was clean and quiet. The bed was specious and the sheets were so clean you could smell it. The bathroom was spotless. I will definitely go there again and refer my friends and family.

Don\'t waste your time/money staying here! It ruined our first trip to NYC. We had to find different accommodations because the property was extremely disappointing. We checked in and within seconds of opening the room door we seen 5 cockroaches. We immediately took our luggage to the lobby and requested another room. We were showed 4 other available rooms on a different floor but we were still finding roaches. Out of the five rooms only one "seemed" to not have any roaches but we were wrong. We had to clean out the fridge and found a dead cockroach and mold in the freezer. The shower floor was very dirty and we also cleaned it but still didn’t use it. It was very late when we checked in and the manager wasn\'t available to request a refund till the next morning. The very short one night stay was the most uncomfortable night ever and it was difficult to get rest thinking of the cockroaches. We didn\'t even want to unzip our luggage just because we didn\'t want any nymph or adult cockroaches to crawl into our luggage. With little to no sleep, I called Orbitz the moment I knew the manager of the hotel would be in that following morning. I requested that we check out and a refund for stay. The manager wanted to only refund the remaining nights but eventually agreed to refund the one night stay as well. I had explained that I had over 20 pictures of all the roaches we had seen. The worst was when I seen I had a nymph cockroach on the bedsheets were I had tried to sleep that night.

Hair on the pillow when we came in, the whole place smelled like cigarettes, there was no hot water (if there was water at all), the area around is noisy, the room is small. Only a place to sleep if you want lung cancer

The room we were in had stains all over the walls, some of which had questionable origins. There were roaches everywhere. The AC pumped out air that was at best 5 degrees cooler than the room temp on the hottest day of the year. The staff was mildly friendly. The whole building reeked of weed even though there are no dispensaries in Brooklyn anymore. Staff told me they offer weed smoking rooms. I probably would have canceled my stay and found other accommodations but I was told I could not get a refund from Expedia because it was a “deal”.

The staff it’s very nice ,the cleanliness of place amazing.

The room was so dirty that my shoes stuck to the floor. There were hair and stains on the bedding and had such a strong odor of chemicals. When opening the window the noise from the bar/club downstairs kept me up all night. I only needed the space to sleep because I was visiting a sick family member at the hospital a walk away but I would've left if I needed to stay any longer.

Clean room friendly staff

We ended up in a room in the basement. There was a club nearby that was blasting bass heavy music all night and the people in the next room over had very loud adult activities. Cheap room but not worth it.

Didn’t expect to stay at the basement level of the hotel! It was dark with no lights and it was noisy during the morning and at night. The bathroom water flush was broken and it was making noise all night long.

Personally I loved it for creating a fancy place around not such fancy houses etc. the rooms are beautiful not big but super cozy with all possible essentials plus complementary shampoo conditioner and body lotion. Everything had color from the lobby to the bathroom which was very nice to look at and feel comfortable in. Would recommend to anyone . And the prices are pretty much incredible compared to any other option around. 5 stars

Room lacked carpets, a desk, or much space to move around the bed. Windows covered with blackout paper.

Good location. Near train, stores and restaurants. Staff was nice and helpful. But there were small things in room that need repairs. The bedding was not in good enough conditions. The worst part was the noise level. The night club behind played loud music till early morning.

We got a room in the basement with no windows. Heating in the room was so noisy, we couldn’t sleep. We had just one chair and filing cabinet covered with a towel instead of a table. Just one bedside table and lamp for two people

The room was too small, we thought we were getting a king size bed. There was no place to put a suitcase, no luggage rack. No place to sit besides on the bed. The room smelled like a smoker was there before and they tried to cover up the smell.

Staff is very nice. Room & halls are clean. Very bad location, except for nearest to train station. Old property fixed up fairly nicely. Rooms are very small. Can’t look out of the window because there is decorative film over it. Heard a fair amount of noise during the night and early morning.

It was a cozy little hotel. There was parking in the back. Easy to locate. Staff was friendly and very helpful. We stayed 2 days to see 👀 my old stomping ground in nearby area. We also had easy access to subway that shoots you straight into Manhattan with ease. It was wonderful and just what we needed.

First off there’s a truck blocking the parking. Front desk said there was no parking and there actually was. Was very rude to me and my fiance. Room stunk like cigarette even though I ask for non smoking. Will not be staying here again!

ive never really had any problems staying here...but i left Monday morn at 7 to go to work...i requested for room to be turned ...i returned after 4 pm and riom wasnt cleaned. i was told they were short staffed, but i was never notified until i reurned to the riom

My stay at this hotel was an utter disaster. There was only one elderly person cleaning rooms, who moved at an excruciatingly slow pace. I arrived at 3 pm for check-in, only to be kept waiting until 2 am to get into my room. The staff offered no refund or compensation for the ordeal, and their customer service was shockingly unhelpful. This was an unacceptable experience, and I would strongly advise against staying here

It was one of the worst hotels I have ever seen. The pictures they used for advertising are false. The door to the outside wouldn’t close so it was freezing, the TV was broken, the furniture was burned and damaged and they tried to cover it with a towel, but the WORST was the service. The front desk staff were rude and patronizing. They refused an emergency package we needed and told us we should have read the website. We booked through Hotels.com where there is no mention of a refusal to accept packages. This was after checking with the initial front desk staff who said it would be no problem. The smoke smell is the final thing to note. The entire place smells like stale cigarettes. No one there seemed to care about a guest experience so I recommend choosing any other hotel over this one.

Honestly, I was worried , after reading some awful reviews. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. My room was clean and modern. The linens were fine. The small size is what I expect in NY. Each person at the front desk was friendly and helpful. It was a little noisy on Saturday night but it didn’t last too long.

This property charged my card for the full amount, and when i arrived they said they were fully booked, I should leave and come back in a couple of days to talk to the manager to see if I can get a refund. I got a room somehow in the end.the experience was horrible considering it was 2 Am when I arrived at the property.The place reek of smoke and and I didn’t get a single room service for all the time I was there. Won’t recommend this place for my worst enemy

After reading the reviews I was apprehensive and almost changed the reservation. However, I decided to give it a shot and I’m glad I did. Easy access to public transportation both bus and train. Walking distance to the best egg tarts Brooklyn chinatown has to offer. Overall I’m very pleased and will be returning in the near future for another stay.

It was a cozy little hotel. There was parking in the back. Easy to locate. Staff was friendly and very helpful. We stayed 2 days to see 👀 my old stomping ground in nearby area. We also had easy access to subway that shoots you straight into Manhattan with ease. It was wonderful and just what we needed.

This hotel serves its purpose for a bed for one night. Nothing more nothing less. The area around it is definitely sketchy, and feels unsafe. There is a gas station across the street which is convenient. The room was equipped with a microwave and mini fridge. Bathroom had little shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion. No bathtub in my particular room. There are rooms where people smoke, I was given a smoking room which I did not request nor could I sleep in due to health issues. They quickly switched my room to another. The bed was ok, there was 2 regular sized pillows and 2 toddler sized pillows which was weird for such a large bed. I always check the bed for bedbugs and although I did not find any, it was clear the mattress protector does not get cleaned because there was tiny black hairs all throughout- gross. I went looking for an ice machine but couldn’t find it. Parking is on the left side of the building if facing the hotel. Entrance is barely noticeable and a VERY tight fit. No breakfast, or coffee or water available. No amenities. Like I said, not the worst but also not great either.

Great comfy hotel for the price. Felt safe and was clean. I was a bit bummed out that the night club next door was a bit noisy, got curious and wanted to see what it looked like inside there and found it was strictly Chinese only. Which I think is illegal but, oh well. Overall good hotel.

I flew into NYC on a no frills airline and it was fitting that I stayed at a no frills motel. It's a basic room to sleep and shower in while you are in the city. Both the N train and D train are within walking distance which was a plus. The room was semi clean (it was the linoleum floor that gave me a start) , towels were white and plentiful so I have no complaints. Yes you hear city noises, yes you might smell smoke but the bottom line is you got what you paid for - no frills. Would I stay again, probably unless I found a better deal in manhattan.

Just skip this one. The room smelled like cigarette. Everything (towel, TV, Bed) was really run down. There are not many places around for food.

Excellent! It rained the weekend and we had a smoking room which was cool because I didn't have to go out! The room was very clean and the staff are exceptional with any requested we had! Close to the Ft Hamilton subway station..N train! And all types of Asian food and pastries!! Will stay again!

The shower 🚿 😍 🙌 😌 Amazing!!! The microwave and fridge both worked, both very clean. The King size bed was so comfy. The towels, soft, no stains, or rips. Smoking Rm avail. No burns on the covers or sheets. I totally hated the pillows 😑 but I loved the staff. Totally accommodating. I asked for extra towels and pillows, and yes, of couse, I got wat I needed. The down side overnight check in starts at 3pm ends at 11am. I totally was disappointed 😞 BUT the sushi spot 😋 👌 and the Taco truck on 11th ave made me forget all about it.

I was surprised there was no window (covered over with thick plastic that did not let sunlight through), sticky floors, non-working elevator, non-working tv (turned on but fuzzy picture) and no access to coffee/hot water. People at the reception were kind but there was nothing they could do to help
