Hyatt Place Bloomington Indiana

Hotel is under major renovations and th workers are living in th hotel and using the Dining amaemties and elevators, playing loud music at all hours. Loud and dirty construction the entire time. Only 1 elevator in use for guests, workers, housekeeping etc. TVs were not hooks up in rooms and the fire alarm went off one morning and th entire hotel had to evacuate due to dust from the construction. The gym isn’t open. A total mess and being charged outrageous prices. The only positive thing I can say is that staff was extremely nice and tried to do everything to make th guests comfortable but it was out of their control. The hotel should not be open until the renovations are completed.

This is a pretty standard Hyatt, clean, with comfortable beds, nice staff, and well located in the downtown -- walkable to campus though not super close. I wish they didn't charge extra for parking, but I especially wish the pool had been operative since I chose the hotel for the pool. The manager promised a refund of part of the price through Expedia but I haven't seen anything of that yet.

We had an excellent stay at the Hyatt. The only down side was the construction that was going on on the floor above. The fitness center was also closed because of this. Staff were friendly and helpful and this location was very convenient.

Great place to stay. Parking was a challenge with larger vehicles. Would recommend familiarizing yourself with the local parking garages near the facility.

Two issues…..the parking issue is ridiculous. Anything bigger than a mid size suv is extremely difficult to maneuver. Second, this wasn’t exactly a cheap hotel and the only parking available is the garage for an extra 16 a night. My last complaint…it’s summer and we were here for a ball tournament. However when complementary breakfast doesn’t start till 7 and you have to be on the field at 7 and you’re planning on doing that before the game it sucks. In the past we’ve had other hotels accommodate the players with packed breakfasts for the team. Instead we had to get up even earlier to go by breakfast.

The people who work there were so nice, Kaylah at the front desk as well as another gentleman and I forget his name and the housekeeping people were so friendly and accommodating. We didn't use it but they have a very nice pool and the workout area was more than I would have expected at a hotel. The people at the front desk also gave us recommendations for dining.

Other than a very hard to navigate parking garage, this hotel was perfect for our visit to Indiana University

Convenient. Entrance to parking garage is not very convenient.

The service was superb, the property is clean, well designed, and the continental breakfast is good. The rooms are not particularly quiet, you can hear guest above as well as outside in the hallways. And the parking, specifically the entrance to the parking garage is extremely Dash extremely difficult to maneuver, a small compact SUV into it. Although there is ample parking and at $16 per night, well worth the cost.

Room was filthy; bathtub especially. Few amenities in room.

Staff at front desk was extremely friendly. Gym very nice. Unfortunately the room had a few things that stood out - sheets put on haphazardly and inside out; hair dryer doesn't work well (not at all powerful); and there were multiple stray hairs in the shower.

Very nice staff. The rooms were not updated (no alarm clock, smart TV, or USB plugs). There was sticky-looking substances on dresser and end table. There was an unpleasant smell in hallways.

We only stayed one night, thank goodness. We were supposed to have a King room, but several King rooms weren’t available because the air conditioning wasn’t working in them. We got to our double Queen room and it was quite dirty. It appeared as though it had not been thoroughly swept. The dust that had been swept was in the corners behind the room door and under the vanity in the bathroom. The bed was not very comfortable. Needless to say we will not stay there again.

The bed was very unforgiving. The pillows I believe were once down. It felt like they had been washed and the feathers turned into bricks inside the pillow. Large hard brick like objects in all the pillows. The smoke alarm had a bright white light that flashed the room every minute or so making sleep difficult. The staff was super friendly and the facility was clean and convenient. However, due to the terrible sleep we all got I would not return.

The staff at this property were wonderful. The hotel was very average. The room we stayed in had a problem with the AC. It cycled on and off every few minutes. The room never held a comfortable temperature and the noise was annoying. The morning breakfast was very good and the common area comfortable and inviting. The best part about this hotel was its excellent location in the downtown area. Very close to everything.

I was disappointed with my stay. The room was quite noisy, making it hard to relax or sleep well. Cleanliness was below expectations — the room didn’t feel properly cleaned. On top of that, the internet connection stopped working yesterday and was never restored, which was really inconvenient. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend staying here based on this experience.

This hotel is in a great area! It’s a newer place so the bathrooms, sofa area, hotel amenities are all great! The water pressure and temperature are to die for. It’s legit spa quality. However, parking is kind of a dumpster fire, and that alone almost brought this down to a 3/5. There’s an adjacent public lot next to the hotel that sure seems connected to the hotel but isn’t. You learn about this after you park there, pay your $7 and go inside where the concierge will tell you about the hotel garage which is accessible via the alleyway on the other side of the hotel at $16/per day. The rate is reasonable enough, and safer. But it was a bit of a bummer to pay for the other lot only to learn it doesn’t accommodate hotel guests beyond 4am or so. This should be blazoned across the hotel exterior so road-weary travelers don’t waste their time (or potentially get a ticket/towing when they go out to their vehicle). Another concern was the bed. It sounded as if a dozen, hyper children had decided to jump on it at once. I couldn’t shift in the night without startling myself awake. I thought the darn thing would fall apart when I first laid down on it. That said, location, amenities, proximity to downtown Bloomington earned it a 4/5. Just don’t let yourself get bamboozled by the parking - and maybe bring a pair of ear plugs for the bed. 4/5.

The room was very nice. The location was great, it was close to downtown and IU. We were able to walk to dinner, and walk around the area easily. The one slight problem we had was we came during a heat wave. The air conditioning in the room was having a hard time keeping up. I really like to sleep in a cool room and it was able to get our room to about 70 consistently overnight. Other than that, the beds were very comfortable. It was big with two queen beds and a sofa. We shared a room with our son, so it was big enough to share with all of us.

All terrific save one thing: the room door stick and the only way to close them is loudly. One of our pet peeves during hotel stays. If anyone gets up at 4 am, everybody gets up at 4 am.

It was convenient, but very noisy and the room doors take a major pull or push to open. Floors are noisy as well. Refrigerator didn’t keep anything cold. Decent breakfast.

Great location, large rooms, comfortable beds and good air conditioning!

I am very particular about the AC available in hotels where I stay when I travel. It is one of my top priorities when selecting a hotel is the quality and reliability of the air conditioning. It’s a nonnegotiable factor for me. If the AC isn’t up to standard, I simply won’t return. I’m pleased to say that this hotel exceeded my expectations in this regard. The in-room AC units consistently delivered strong, cold airflow and were capable of maintaining a comfortably cool temperature of at least 65°F throughout my stay. This level of performance is rare and truly appreciated. Thanks to the dependable climate control, along with the overall quality of the stay, I will absolutely be returning. This hotel has earned my continued business.

The one issue we had water pressure in shower was god aweful

Staff was not very interactive when I checked in or when I was in the lobby. Not that it is a must but a few hi's and smiles can make people's stay feel better.

Everything was excellent. All of the staff were excellent-friendly, professional and helpful. In particular, the woman working Saturday night, I think I was told her name was Sarah, was great. She took care of the front desk as well as the bar area. She also tolerated, with complete professionalism, a rude woman complaining about the parking situation. Sarah was very calm and accommodating. She is an excellent employee.

My child was having a medical issue at 1am , my family called trying to awake me. After notifying the front desk. They call my room and came to our room door to check on us. People were so nice and caring. Going beyond their job description. I will be telling everyone to stay here when in town.

Do NOT give your business to this property. If possible, avoid it at all costs. We reserved and pre-paid for two nights during move-in week at IU. When we attempted to check in after a very long day of travel and getting our daughter settled in her dorm, they advised they did not have a room for us. Because it was move-in week at IU, there were no other properties available in the area. We ended up having to drive back to the airport that night to one of the only properties that had availability within an hour of the school. Despite several phone calls to the Hyatt, the manager refuses to return our messages and we still haven’t received a refund (two weeks later). Their excuse every time we call? “Our ‘systems’ are down.” Look - mistakes happen, but the least they could do is return our phone calls and refund our money. It’s criminal, at this point.

Every employee I talked to at the front desk was extremely helpful and friendly. They are a top notch crew!

Great location for visiting IU

Great downtown location

Great location for walking to campus and downtown Bloomington. Safe area, easy parking. Lots of choices at breakfast buffet. Rooms large enough for 4 adults.

It's hard to beat this location if you want to be in and around downtown. The room was updated, comfortable, super clean, quiet, and had great views. Easy parking, friendly front desk staff. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Excellent. Right off the Square

We were in Bloomington for a visit of Indiana University. We arrived early to explore the city and the location of Hyatt Place Bloomington was perfect.

Convenient for visiting IU campus. Clean, plenty of restaurants around. Nice walkable area.

Hotel's breakfast looked like it not been restocked at all and there was almost no food left at 8:30 am. My partner reported that the skim milk was spoiled, but I managed to get some cereal and 2% milk that was fine. I also got an old, beat up banana. There wasn't much else to eat. My guess is that the person that works the breakfast didn't show up that morning. The rest of the hotel was quite nice, and I didn't need a big breakfast anyway, so we had a good stay there.

Property was in a great location. It is right off the main square and easy walking distance to restaurants and campus. The pool was a bit smaller than expected and while i appreciate the included breakfast, i can only eat so much sausages and bacon every morning. Recommend adding more variety.

Excellent property, location and friendly staff. Parking should have been included, instead of charging $15/day. The breakfast included was ended by 9am on a Good Friday holiday. Bit surprised to see that the items were not replenished by 8:35am. The selections were not that many. Something the management should think about. If breakfast were not included, we would have planned accordingly.

The staff was friendly and accommodating. The area is nice with plenty of dining options and little shops. There is a hotel parking fee which I must’ve missed on the website. I prefer the hotel include such fees with the room cost (but that’s just me). Anyway, the free breakfast made up for the parking fee so overall, I highly recommend this hotel. There is some renovations currently occurring in the hotel but I didn’t hear anything just met a few of the highly respectful and considerate construction crew members.

Great hotel, pleasant staff though they seem understaffed (bartender also has to do check-in so creates an unnecessary wait for the guest. The breakfast is free but is quite awful...stayed here 6 times and the breakfast is always dismal
