The Monterey Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

Clean room if somewhat tired looking for a supposedly superior room. Our stay coincided with the heatwave, the hotel website had air conditioning as a facility which was why we had chosen it, that and the fact that there was parking, but there was no air conditioning. We were given a small desk fan which was replaced the next day by one more suitable but staff less than gracious. The bedroom window opened on to a flat roof with kitchen vents, both noisy and emitting more hot air. I would not say this was a superior room.

No aircon whole hotel was boiling

Checked out after 1 night and got nonrefundable for the nights I paid for (£200 per night and hotel bare). Noisy road and windows not soundproofed enough.

Room was dated, but very tidy and clean, pool facilities were okay, but in need of refurbishment. The sauna was out of order and the mini gym lacked a treadmill. We stayed in a family room, it could have done with more towel rails in the bathroom and a drying rack for when the weather is less agreeable. Otherwise, the staff were amazing and made our stay memorable and fantastic. The plentiful parking was a massive bonus, as was the included breakfast.
