We appreciate the unique and ornate shared areas and were surprised by the modern updated room. It was large, clean, and quiet. The age of the building comes with a bit of a smell that we were able to mask when in our room. The amenities are few, but the premise behind Erik’s Retreat makes the lack of extras easy to overlook. We only needed the room as a landing place and was perfectly comfortable for our needs! We’d stay again!

I like the donation thing that was nice to see, but i also saw that on Google review. They serve breakfast but I did not see any breakfast. I was kind of disappointed on that. And the instructions, it didn't come with a parking map. I had to ask for 1 thankfully, the lady was very accommodating on that. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.

Erik's retreat is an elegant, quiet studio apartment with spacious rooms. We will stay again whenever we visit our relatives in Minneapolis. Beautiful place. The parking lot is shared with the building next door. The helpful concierge told us where to park. There is a side door that is more convenient to get there.

The room was nice. The bathroom was spacious and there were handmade complimentary treats. There was no lobby or any person to check us in. It was fine, they sent us a very detailed letter explaining how to get in, where to park, and how to access our room. The only minor crtique i could make was there was not an ice machine. We were told there would be ice in the mini-fridge, but there was not. I received an email asking if we got checked in ok, i mentioned the no ice thing, bit never heard back. Truly not a game changer, but it would have been nice to get some type of response. We would absolutely stay there again. Thank you Erik's Retreat.

Nice, clean, and easy entry. Parking is very inconvenient. It would have been nice to be informed of the road construction. The AC did not work, our room was close to 80 degrees. Never got a response to my email, even though the property said we could contact them by email. All that being said, I would consider staying again.

This is not a hotel; it’s an air b&b that has hotel-like rooms in an apartment building. There is no staff on site, at least outside of office hours. The air conditioning was not working in the building so after two 80 degree days everywhere in the building was hot and stuffy. The windows do open but the building is next to the freeway so noisy. Know that the property refunded me for my stay and here’s why: parking is available but a block away and during our stay, road construction had taken out the sidewalks so I had to walk through mud and uneven ground. They are not in control of roadwork but they did not warn us of this problem. Navigating to the building before 6 pm and after 9 am was not possible by car due to road closure. Luckily after 6, the construction folks left and opened the road so I could get to the building to drop off so my handicapped husband. I asked about accessibility and was told there were grab bars in the shower but there are not. Additionally when I called to get help navigating and knowing where to park, there was only voicemail. I was able to get someone via text fairly quickly.

Carpets, couch, cabinets, remote controls were all dirty… no TVs or clocks in the bedrooms, showers didn’t work well, only a sheet and a thin blanket on the twin beds and no extra blankets

Absolutely not one of employe present, despite us arriving and departing during regular operating hours. Took a while to figure out how to open the door to the building. No one present to assist or answer the phone. Lobby is eerie and smells really musty -well we found a huge water bubble in the ceiling on day 1 that began leaking on day 2 everywhere-just found a bucket under it. No repairs being done. Elevator smelled like urine very strongly. Room was all white and beige felt like being in a sanitarium no pictures, no colors. White carpet! It was stained. Tiles in shower coming off, toilet leaked. No working AC-thankfully windows opened to air out the musty stale smell-it smelt like stale cigarettes from years past like great aunt betsy’s old apartment. Parking 1/2 block away -just weird and inconvenient. Would never stay again.

The person at the front desk was so friendly and helpful! The room was great - spacious, beautifully redone. The homemade treats were great touch. The temp of the room was WARM. The air was on but even at the lowest setting it was well over 70 degrees. The bathroom floor wasn’t very clean, so I just wore slippers.

We liked this property for its good price and convenient location for us while we were in the cities. That being said the lobby although beautiful, smells like stale cigarette smoke. Our room smelled much better than that and it was clean. It did have peeling wallpaper and the AC could not keep up with the summer heat so we ended up buying a fan at a nearby Target. Oddly enough the hallways were cooler than our room. Communication with the hosts was good. Instructions about the property beforehand was good. It’s just an old building that could use a good updating. It is in a quiet neighborhood.

Erik’s Retreat was close to our family so we went for it. We were pleased with the mission of the hotel and pleasantly surprised by the impeccable marble bathroom and the meticulous order of our room. The staff were helpful and personable. We’ll stay here again without a doubt!!

Very quiet, staff (which you will not see too often) are very friendly and eager to help in any way. Rooms are very nice and clean. The only downside that I would mention is that there is no cable TV, only broadcast. That being said I will definitely be staying at Erik's Retreat again. Wonderful experience.

The room was AMAZING!! All of the artwork inside was beautiful. The buildings around it were lovely and older. Very quiet neighborhood with plenty of walking paths. So welcoming and inviting. I stayed here with my 3 kids. They absolutely loved it as well!

The property was very convenient and roomy. The unfortunate thing is the mattress was terrible, drooping to the middle. We were so tired that we fell asleep anyway, but with all the positives this has... a bad mattress is a deal-breaker consideration for future bookings.

We stayed 1 night at Erik's. We didn't meet any staff since they have contactless check-in. The emailed welcoming document was a good guide to our stay, including pin#s for the doors, amenities, where to park, etc. Our room was much larger than a typical hotel room and the bed and bathroom were both lovely. I don't think the tv had cable, but in the age of Netflix, etc, it wasn't missed. The carpeting was clean and soft, not the industrial rough carpet of most hotel rooms. The furniture in our room and in the lobby was all antique and added a luxurious feel to an otherwise very simple place to sleep. The location was great for us since we were splitting our time between Eden Prairie and Minneapolis for our little weekend getaway. We'll stay here again when we need a place in the metro

Large suite, good bed, quiet. TV small. A microwave would be nice. Couldn't find any stir sticks. Loved the shower. Sink stopper leaked a bit. Would have tried the snacks but for the presence of nuts. Enjoyed our stay. Ideal location for us as it is near our daughter's home.

Very quiet, staff (which you will not see too often) are very friendly and eager to help in any way. Rooms are very nice and clean. The only downside that I would mention is that there is no cable TV, only broadcast. That being said I will definitely be staying at Erik's Retreat again. Wonderful experience.

We visited our son who is working in Edina. We chose Erik’s because I have a heart for their mission. We loved our stay! I think I had the best sleep in months, I was really tired though, we came from Georgia. Dominic was so professional and helpful. We will definitely stay again. No frills but I liked that.

Absolutely not one of employe present, despite us arriving and departing during regular operating hours. Took a while to figure out how to open the door to the building. No one present to assist or answer the phone. Lobby is eerie and smells really musty -well we found a huge water bubble in the ceiling on day 1 that began leaking on day 2 everywhere-just found a bucket under it. No repairs being done. Elevator smelled like urine very strongly. Room was all white and beige felt like being in a sanitarium no pictures, no colors. White carpet! It was stained. Tiles in shower coming off, toilet leaked. No working AC-thankfully windows opened to air out the musty stale smell-it smelt like stale cigarettes from years past like great aunt betsy’s old apartment. Parking 1/2 block away -just weird and inconvenient. Would never stay again.

We stayed 1 night at Erik's. We didn't meet any staff since they have contactless check-in. The emailed welcoming document was a good guide to our stay, including pin#s for the doors, amenities, where to park, etc. Our room was much larger than a typical hotel room and the bed and bathroom were both lovely. I don't think the tv had cable, but in the age of Netflix, etc, it wasn't missed. The carpeting was clean and soft, not the industrial rough carpet of most hotel rooms. The furniture in our room and in the lobby was all antique and added a luxurious feel to an otherwise very simple place to sleep. The location was great for us since we were splitting our time between Eden Prairie and Minneapolis for our little weekend getaway. We'll stay here again when we need a place in the metro

We appreciated the manner in which Erik's Retreat was run. When we arrived on Friday, 8/8 we were greeted by Dominic (sp.). He gave us a very thorough tour of the facilities. From that point on we felt right at home. When we visit Minneapolis again, we will stay at Erik's Retreat if there is room for us.

I had some difficulty with the contactless check-in, which was upsetting. Once I got into the hotel and the room, it was a lovely facility. The room in particular was beautiful, very large, and extremely well-kept.

We were in town for a concert and went to the Mall of America. The hotel was close to everything, which was great. Everything was super clean, safe and quiet! Excellent stay!

Was disappointed in parking. I was alone at nite & walking from car to room. Felt a bit uncomfortable due to unfamiliarity with area/neighbirhood.

It was nice and quiet. The room and the lobby are beautiful. I liked being able to get in with a code instead of a card. No breakfast but that was advertised accordingly.

This was our third stay at Eriks Retreat and it keeps on getting better. We finally arrived early enough to meet a few staff members who greeted us, shared some good information and escorted us to our room. We noticed that there is now music in the lobby which makes it feel a little less eerie when the staff is not present. Also, there were more treats in the room baked by Maggie, one of the workers who is also autistic. Since last year, the hotel offers a breakfast for guests Friday through Sunday. We did not take advantage of this but will keep it in mind for the future. One of the reasons we choose to come here is that it is run by adults with autism. The suites are updated, clean and well supplied. You can also make donations to this wonderful organization if in the small dropbox in your room if you have enjoyed your stay

I like the donation thing that was nice to see, but i also saw that on Google review. They serve breakfast but I did not see any breakfast. I was kind of disappointed on that. And the instructions, it didn't come with a parking map. I had to ask for 1 thankfully, the lady was very accommodating on that. The rooms were spacious and comfortable.

The room was nice. The bathroom was spacious and there were handmade complimentary treats. There was no lobby or any person to check us in. It was fine, they sent us a very detailed letter explaining how to get in, where to park, and how to access our room. The only minor crtique i could make was there was not an ice machine. We were told there would be ice in the mini-fridge, but there was not. I received an email asking if we got checked in ok, i mentioned the no ice thing, bit never heard back. Truly not a game changer, but it would have been nice to get some type of response. We would absolutely stay there again. Thank you Erik's Retreat.

The person at the front desk was so friendly and helpful! The room was great - spacious, beautifully redone. The homemade treats were great touch. The temp of the room was WARM. The air was on but even at the lowest setting it was well over 70 degrees. The bathroom floor wasn’t very clean, so I just wore slippers.

This was our second visit to Erik's Retreat. The check in process is seamless as it is all done virtually. Room was spacious, clean and well organized. Plenty of bath toiletries available. Keurig coffee in the morning with brownies and cookies for a donation if you wish. We love the concept of this property and will return again!

Erik’s Retreat is not a party spot - very quiet. It is clean and the bed was comfortable. A surprise bonus was being able to walk to Patrick's French Cafe for quiche and pastries

They offer a mini fridge, Keurig with plenty of pods, the beds were decently comfortable, the linens nice, and I felt safe and comfortable. There are only 8 rooms that are included in the 'hotel' the other part of the building is a home for Autistic adults, the 'non-profit Erik's Retreat' offers a unique opportunity for independent living and working. As a matter of fact, I met Erik himself while he was vacuuming the lobby one morning. I loved my experience at Erik's-oh and it is very conveniently located.
