Lovely gardens and views. Popular wedding venue. I used Room 1 due to temporary incapacity perfected for disabled person. Spacious room and bathroom. Steps into Hall so wheelchair occupants may be challenged. Food good quality and tasty. WIne seemed to be 29.95 but can purchase by the glass. Well stocked bar. Good smart TV

We were really impressed with Springkell as soon as we approached it from the driveway and even more impressed with the interior of the hotel. This is a 1st class hotel and we really enjoyed our time at Springkell. In particular the common areas are stunning with magnificent plaster mouldings on the ceilings and a really special main staircase. If I would change anything at all I would install a bell push to call for assistance at the reception desk as it is not always manned. Although the driveway is very bumpy, it is well worth this minor inconvenience. I would definitely recommend Springkell and we will be returning next time we’re visiting this area of Scotland.

Our stay at Springkell was a highlight of our trip. The grounds are beautiful, the staff were amazing, and it was peaceful and quiet. The breakfast was also quite good. For people traveling from the US who are users of Google maps for directions, I suggest avoiding the Google maps directions to get to sprinkell. We were taken on a roundabout way that ended up with us on a very rudded gravel road as it was getting dark. We were there for only one day, and I wish that we could have stayed longer.

You shouldn't expect luxury but a piece of history and the country side life, The road to the hotel absolutely terrifying, no light and no asphalt with lots of holes and bumps, you definitely need a carwash after driving there which I believe that should be a thing to be notify before traveling there. They need a sign on entrance as the nice photo of the hotel is actually the rear of the building without any access.

Stayed overnight on our way back down south. Beautiful place to stay. Had a lovely walk in the grounds before a drink in the bar. Had a beautiful meal in the evening and was finished off with our Scottish breakfast in the morning. Highly recommended.

Lovely stay at Springkell. The best thing about this place is the staff. Everyone was friendly, welcoming and helpful they truly are a credit to the hotel. The hotel itself is set in beautiful well kept grounds, care needs taken on the driveway up to the house as the road has a lot of potholes. We stayed in room 6, it didn't have a view from the window but was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious with a large shower cubicle. The temperature in the shower was quite difficult to get right but we got there in the end. If we stay there again I would book a superior room for additional space/seating. We had dinner the first night of our stay and freshly cooked breakfast each morning was good. Nice to be able to have the dog with us and she enjoyed her walks in the grounds and surrounding area.

Great place to stopover (we had a long trip from southern England to northern Scotland). Very dog friendly with beautiful parks for the dogs to run. It just feels like you’re staying in a stately home.

They are kind, trying but not well organized. Missing hand towels, sort of clean a bit dusty. Kind staff again, seemed understaffed and very young. Totally sold out, I hate give them low marks.

Found by accident as we needed an overnight stop somewhere near the A74 to break the long journey south but ... ...what an amazing Hotel! It has been lovingly converted from a family home into a wonderful guest experience by keeping so much of the home in place. The entrance hall sets the tone, it has to be seen. The room with its forteen foot ceilings was comfortable and clean, the ensuite brilliant. As for the grounds, they are superb. The formal garden below the lounge and reached down sweeping stone steps is wonderful. The grass lands beyond a joy to walk through and the woods and drives around the hall worth an explore. We only spent the one night there but we will be back.

Pleasant location and surroundings. Cleanliness of bathroom and communal toilet areas was disappointing. Nice breakfast and comfortable 4 Poster bedroom. No water or biscuits in room was a surprise. Staff very friendly and helpful.

It was a tricky place to find as the lane with a ‘temporary’ looking sign for hotel looked like a rough track. Not much parking unless using muddy tracks at side of the house. The entrance was very grand and beautiful but after that everything looked as if it was in the middle of a renovation. Biggest disappointment was our room which did not look at all like the pictures on website. It was down a corridor, up and down stairs, past recently plastered areas and open storage areas. It was clean but very small so it was difficult to open suitcase except on bed. It had some furniture in keeping with an old ‘stately’ house and then a modern cheap wardrobe with scratches on. The room was small and needed cracks caulking/ filling around the ceiling, window frame and sill. It was not as nice /comfortable as a Premier inn! The bathroom though was large (especially compared with the bedroom!) and lovely. The view was good but there was a smell of burning wood all through our stay coming in through the window gap which we discovered in a walk around the building was coming from a big bio burner. The food at dinner was extremely good - we had salmon and steak both excellent. The cooked breakfast was far too large with double everything including carbs ( 2 hash browns and 2 potato scones) so food was wasted. A smaller version offered would have been appreciated. The few staff all seemed very young but the service was good when they were at their posts.

On arrival we were very impressed by the location, set literally up a track in its own amazing grounds. Booked in very quick and easy by Georgie, she was very polite and helpful. The room was clean

Många konstiga grusvägar över fälten in till hotellet, egentligen bara en ordentlig grusväg in. Så lite inte på Google Maps helt. Väldigt nedstrippat på tidstypiska möbler i allmänna utrymmen och inredning är mest från 70-talet vilket är tråkigt. Hade otur med ostädat rumbadrum när vi kom, men det såg personalen till att snabbt åtgärda genom att ge oss ett väldigt fint rum. Bra service.

The staff were wonderful - so nice and helpful. Always checking to make sure we had what we needed. We loved the old historic feel to the building yet our room was newly remodeled. The 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner we had were excellent and tasty. We would highly recommend and would certainly come back if we ever return to Scotland.

The room was small and needed cracks caulking/ filling around the ceiling, window frame and sill. It was not as nice /comfortable as a Premier inn! The bathroom though was large (especially compared with the bedroom!) and lovely. The view was good but there was a smell of burning wood all through our stay coming in through the window gap which we discovered in a walk around the building was coming from a big bio burner. The food at dinner was extremely good - we had salmon and steak both excellent. The cooked breakfast was far too large with double everything including carbs ( 2 hash browns and 2 potato scones) so food was wasted. A smaller version offered would have been appreciated. The few staff all seemed very young but the service was good when they were at their posts.

The entrance was very grand and beautiful but after that everything looked as if it was in the middle of a renovation. Biggest disappointment was our room which did not look at all like the pictures on website. It was down a corridor, up and down stairs, past recently plastered areas and open storage areas. It was clean but very small so it was difficult to open suitcase except on bed. It had some furniture in keeping with an old ‘stately’ house and then a modern cheap wardrobe with scratches on. Our double deluxe room was too small for the bed so it was up against one wall with no room for side tables so a bit awkward to navigate. The bed was very comfortable the bathroom was good and the television was a good size. The public rooms were very appealing, the gardens gorgeous and there was a lovely relaxed atmosphere.

We chose Springkell because it was a stately home and we had not stayed in one. The man who booked us in was excellent. He works at the hotel for a summer holiday job. He gave us lots of information about the hotel's history. We enjoyed our stay and breakfast was very good. The only disappointing aspects were our room was ridiculously small, the mattress was soft and you rolled into the middle of the bed. We were not very hungry and only had soup and entree type food and a cheese platter. What we ate apart from the soup, was very poor in quantity and flavour. The cheese platter was a disgrace. I did mention this on checking out and hope they improve this for future guests. Apart from our couple of disaapoint,ents with food and our room the ambience of the house is worth a stay.

A last minute stop on a long journey and we happened upon a gem. Lovely room that was a little noisy was changed without fuss to a superb alternative - wow. Bed was amazingly comfortable. Really made the journey one of the best parts of the holiday. Lovely breakfast in the morning set us up for the rest of the drive. Pleasant and helpful staff are a real credit to the management.

What a gem. Didnt know this place existed but so glad we found it. Jennifer and Paige were superstars, full of smiles and very welcoming. Just what weneeded after a drive from Weymouth. Food was very well presented and exceeded expectations. Tranquil and expansive grounds for dogs to run around. No traffic. Good for them. We would recommend and will definitely go back.

We were really impressed with Springkell as soon as we approached it from the driveway and even more impressed with the interior of the hotel. This is a 1st class hotel and we really enjoyed our time at Springkell. In particular the common areas are stunning with magnificent plaster mouldings on the ceilings and a really special main staircase. If I would change anything at all I would install a bell push to call for assistance at the reception desk as it is not always manned. Although the driveway is very bumpy, it is well worth this minor inconvenience. I would definitely recommend Springkell and we will be returning next time we’re visiting this area of Scotland.

What a gem. Staying at a manor like Springkell was a highlight of our trip. My wife thought about Pemberly from Pride and Prejudice when we stayed there. It was a wonderful place to stay en route from Scotland to the Lake District.

Our stay at Springkell was a highlight of our trip. The grounds are beautiful, the staff were amazing, and it was peaceful and quiet. The breakfast was also quite good. For people traveling from the US who are users of Google maps for directions, I suggest avoiding the Google maps directions to get to sprinkell. We were taken on a roundabout way that ended up with us on a very rudded gravel road as it was getting dark. We were there for only one day, and I wish that we could have stayed longer.

Great place to stopover (we had a long trip from southern England to northern Scotland). Very dog friendly with beautiful parks for the dogs to run. It just feels like you’re staying in a stately home.

The hotel is beautiful but old Had a lovely stay and an excellent nights sleep. My only negatives would be the separate bathroom and the service at breakfast was not great. No one to greet us or take our order. Had to flag down a waitress to get a pot of tea and no toast offered with breakfast. We would stay again though especially if the evening menus were to change.

Good points: fabulous building steeped in History. Excellent evening meal - despite the cost it was worth it as it was really 5*. Big comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Slight negatives: I didn't realise I was in room 5 - the only room with a private bathroom across the hall. Next time I would book one with an en suite. Getting dressed to walk across the hallway was irritating and in the middle of the night, inconvenient. No proper shower but I did enjoy having a bath. Would have liked some herbal teas as I don't drink coffee or black tea. Strangely the breakfast was not very good - the cooked part. It's obviously prepared beforehand as I asked for well cooked bacon and it wasn't. The sausage was not great. Strange as the meal the night before was fabulous. Only other point to mention is that it's off the beaten track but there are a lot of pubs within short driving distance if you prefer to eat in one. I would stay here again, it's a fabulous building and the bed was excellent.

Stayed overnight on our way back down south. Beautiful place to stay. Had a lovely walk in the grounds before a drink in the bar. Had a beautiful meal in the evening and was finished off with our Scottish breakfast in the morning. Highly recommended.

Liked the house itself with the public rooms. We booked a deluxe room but it was okay. No outlook from window, just looked at a wall. Although the staff were friendly, the system they followed was not up to par. On check in we were not advised where anything was ie restaurant or bar. It was later when we spoke to another member we were shown where things were. Breakfast, the food was lovely but you had to go and get your own milk for your tea or coffee, sauce etc had to tell the staff one day there was no orange juice and another day no glasses to put it in. When supplied we were not advised or brought over to us, we had to go up again and get it. Booked dinner and when we went to restaurant after pre ordering the food we were left for 25 minutes with no one asking if we wanted a drink. In fact it wasn’t until we got our food we had to ask for a drink. The salt and pepper were in dishes left on the tables, so hopefully everyone using these would use something other than fingers to use it as no one had spoons or anything to take it out and looks liked they are out all day with no cover. This hotel could be great but need to train staff more and perhaps get more staff, although with only 21 rooms the weren’t very busy.
Liked the house itself with the public rooms. We booked a deluxe room but it was okay. No outlook from window, just looked at a wall. Although the staff were friendly, the system they followed was not up to par. On check in we were not advised where anything was ie restaurant or bar. It was later when we spoke to another member we were shown where things were. Breakfast, the food was lovely but you had to go and get your own milk for your tea or coffee, sauce etc had to tell the staff one day there was no orange juice and another day no glasses to put it in. When supplied we were not advised or brought over to us, we had to go up again and get it. Booked dinner and when we went to restaurant after pre ordering the food we were left for 25 minutes with no one asking if we wanted a drink. In fact it wasn’t until we got our food we had to ask for a drink. The salt and pepper were in dishes left on the tables, so hopefully everyone using these would use something other than fingers to use it as no one had spoons or anything to take it out and looks liked they are out all day with no cover. The staff seemed to lack training and expertise in each area including in the bar and at the reception. We were placed in a room that was clearly used as an example for showing it to potential wedding bookings. A loud wedding sales person showed a number of potential clients around throughout our stay. On two occasions he would stand outside the door with the clients discussing the room and even attempting to open the door when we were inside. This showed poor communication between staff and departments. There was lipstick on a glass given to us at the bar. Reception staff did not know how to check us out and were very loud and unprofessional during the day. The room was cosy. Nice shower and large bathroom. Tv had many channels. No shampoo despite the guest book saying that normally they have them for guests. Hairs in toilet and on walls on arrival. Good value for money. Nice walks around the gardens.

Really enjoyed my brief stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable, the food was pleasant with an excellent breakfast. The setting is very attractive too

Beautiful place. Lovely gardens , long walks, so much to take in. quiet, good breakfast , lovely staff,polite, helpful. Would strongly encourage you to book a night of two stay.
