A wonderful and comfortable accommodation that marked the pinnacle of a trip to Rwanda. A place where you can relax and enjoy recreation in well-maintained facilities in the serene forest of the staff. A place where you can take a leisurely kayak on Lake Muhazi in front of the inn and relax in yoga on the pool deck. And even a wonderful meal prepared with great care.

Amazing stay at UMVA! Quiet, gorgeous architecture, yummy food, and lovely community vibes at dinner. I really enjoyed kayaking on the lake!! And throughout, felt very safe as a solo female traveller. Definitely recommend!

We just spent 3 nights at UMVA Muhazi and what a delight it is. UMVA (Kinyarwanda for 'listen' or 'experience') is not the run of the mill resort on a lake. It is a small (9 units) facility that is big on creating experiences that build community (and wonderful memories). All 9 units are separate, and each has a small patio on the front to overlook the lake. Although it is built on a hill, there are beautiful stone pathways and stairs that make getting around very easy. The buildings themselves are beautiful. They are works of art! The staff are friendly and helpful and engaging. Breakfast offers a cold buffet and cooked to order (full English breakfast available). Lunch can be chosen from 3 options given each day. Breakfast and lunch are served as you arrive. Dinner is a different approach. It is a community meal that begins promptly at 7pm. Dinner includes an amuse bouche, soup, salad, palate cleanser, main and dessert. This is not a tasting menu. The servings are generous and tasty. If you're a bird lover, you will be delighted. Both the natural flora and the planted landscaping provides a veritable feast for the birds.
