Loved it! I like that you don't need a keycard and can use your phone. Convenient parking. Coffee, ice and filtered water. Pool very clean. One block from beach. Noisy if roim is in front of property but they have ear plugs and a noise machine in room. Coffee and fridge in room. Very clean. Very safe! Would stay again!!

Was a quick stay & was wonderful . Loved how close we were to the beach. The heated pool is small but good enough for some laps. Loved your lounge area.

This property is on the main road there pack really good ear plugs for the road noise but also if you have a floor above you. Units 101-104 are basically on/below the sidewalk next to the main road. It’s basement feeling. No room cleaning unless you pay $35. Parking is very tight on property but they have extra space on the other side of the street. This costs you $16 per day. Pool heater did not work. Checkin was delayed for 1.5-2hrs as the key pads to the “2” units they had available did not work and the calling Center did not have the authority to open the room remotely. They compensated me with free parking. There are no dibs on site to help in these situations which is absurd. So for a whole week with 2 people we had the stress on one fob and NO working key pad and a staff that had no other options for us if we lose that fob or left it in the room by mistake. This is like a huge Airbnb with owners putting up their units in the rental pool.

Good value but the $20 per day parking fee added to the cost. No housekeeping services, so I had to budget my towel usage over 5 days. Coffee maker was crap, and the did replace it for me on the last day. Overall, it was fine, and the location was the best perk.

The room was adequate. The location of the room was facing the main street, so it was very loud through the night. the pool was clean but not inviting.

Overall this is a wonderful beach hotel. It’s small which I like and the common lounge area was a nice place to chat with some of the other guests staying in the hotel. I like that there was beach sand on the stairs as it reminds me that we’re near the beach. The room was comfy although the carpet in my room was a little worn looking and there were hairs on the bathroom counter and sticking to the shower stall. It might not be a bad idea to have a supervisor check each room prior to having a customer use the room. I really loved the convenience of checking in and out! Pretty much everything is done via the app: you receive your building and entry code via your email, you can request towels and cleaning via the app, you can request and pay for an earlier check in via the app… Other then the bathroom being overlooked I had no complaints (the night time security guard was sleeping in the lounge when I had an early morning check out. Not good for building security).

Overall for the price this place was good. The location is good as there are plenty of places nearby to eat breakfast and dinner. You will be steps from the beach. The app to open doors was a bit of a pain because well you have to dig your phone out and open the app and hold it by the lock for what seemed like a long time to unlock doors in the building. I prefer a key card. If you're looking for a dark quiet room don't get a balcony. The light on the balcony stays on all night and it's right on a very busy road PCH so you will hear traffic noise. It was too cold and gloomy to use the pool so I have no review on that area. The pillows were too big and bulky for my taste. I prefer a pillow that my head can sink into so that it's not propped up all high when I sleep. Next time I'll bring a pillow from home. Parking was fine I just parked on a back local street a block away.

Checking in is ridiculous and impersonal. I spent close to an hour jumping through all the hoops. Also wasn’t told upfront that you have to pay $20 a day plus tax just to park. In the room they don’t provide a table or desk and chairs. They give you a balcony but no way to sit out on it. The staff was pleasant and the coffee was good. The pool wasn’t heated and so was not usable.

Gross gross and are you kidding me! This place was dirty and no cleaning was done before I got there. Pubic hair all over the toilet, facial hair all over the sink, and to top it off some used tissue in the sheets with a cork to a wine bottle. The solution is a $50 credit for next time!! Are you kidding me!!!! Then add drunk domestic violence issue above us and the staff did nothing. I had to change the sheets myself and they sent a cleaning person the next day that literally cleaned nothing

The fridge was dirty, had open drinks left in, there were no wash cloths, you have to help yourself from the closet which is on first floor however, there were none left. The cabinet under the sink was dirty and the sink was clogged. Parking is mostly for small compact cars, if you have a bigger vehicle you might have to find parking on the street because is difficult to fit in the spots. It is an avarage hotel , convenient location, ok if you keep expectation on the low side.

Super clean rooms. Clean comfy beds. Air conditioning was great. So nice to have a mini fridge in the room and quick to run down to the lounge and use microwaves when needed. Pool was so nice and clean. Literally across the street from the beach. All good things to say about our stay!

The unit was immaculately clean. I had an eye out for that after reading some negative reviews. The location is great for the beach. Other places around it would have to go further to a road that cut through to the beach. There is some traffic noise on the front of the building, but I didn’t find it bothersome. The best part was the staff. They were helpful and even loaned us sand toys and other things for the beach. Don’t forget to ask.

I loved the location of the property. Unfortunately, the property itself fell short of my expectations. Upon check in, we toured our room and found dirty USED towels in the bathroom and shower. Also, some of the towels hanging were so stained that I was questioning if they were even washed too. And the sink looked dirty. Seems like they “renovated” an old, run down hotel and just slapped some paint on it and put in new furniture. Would not suggest this property to anyone.

I didn’t read the reviews before booking. There was hair in my shower. But I just removed it. The tub has mold all around it. And when I misplaced a bottle of hair gel, I looked under the bed and grabbed a half used bottle of something really gross that can’t be named here from the previous occupant. Under the bed was disgusting on another level. The hotel needs to fire the cleaning staff and start over. The photos are super misleading. Would not stay here again, there are better places for the price.

Love that it’s two blocks to the beach. Room is clean, nothing special, would have like microwave in room. Noisy due to hotel close to pacific highway but I’d stay again just cuz I love how close of a walk to beach.

Easy check in , clean, location was tough due to being right at the traffic light and people could just stare right into room, so hard to keep the drapes closed at all times which made it very dark and gloomy to not be able to open the drapes also very noisy walls very thin

Convenient location to beach and super staff. Good WiFi for remote work. Property is a touch older and has related problems (water was shut off for a daytime repair, but back on by evening). Rooms are modern. Good choice overall.

Was a little unpleasantly surprised when I first saw the room not a lot lighting no water and the balcony was tiny and obviously because the hotel is by the highway or the freeway, it was somewhat noisy but in the end, it was fine.

Overall for the price this place was good. The location is good as there are plenty of places nearby to eat breakfast and dinner. You will be steps from the beach. The app to open doors was a bit of a pain because well you have to dig your phone out and open the app and hold it by the lock for what seemed like a long time to unlock doors in the building. I prefer a key card. If you're looking for a dark quiet room don't get a balcony. The light on the balcony stays on all night and it's right on a very busy road PCH so you will hear traffic noise. It was too cold and gloomy to use the pool so I have no review on that area. The pillows were too big and bulky for my taste. I prefer a pillow that my head can sink into so that it's not propped up all high when I sleep. Next time I'll bring a pillow from home. Parking was fine I just parked on a back local street a block away.

I liked the property overall. I found my room to not have adequate lighting, 3 IKEA looking lamps and one did not work. The bed was comfortable and the room space was nice. I was on the front street side so I did hear some road noise but they leave ear plugs in the room for guests. I did hear the person above me allowing their child to stomp around. The lights were out in the elevator and the temporary light went off while in the elevator so it was dark but not a big deal, just something to note. I like the door combo checkin, no room key needed just a combo code so that was nice. I would start there again.

Overall, my stay was acceptable. However, the excessive smell of bleach upon entry of room was captivating, and the musty smells in the bathroom weren’t something I would have expected from a hotel like Sonder. The noise level is a bit high but to be expected given the location. Balconies looked a bit unsafe to relax on, and the lights being required to be on for all patios is a bit excessive. You can’t sleep with the curtains open unless you enjoy bright light in your face.

This location is great! Staff was friendly and informative. Walking distance from the beach. Room was comfortable and clean. Microwave available in the lounge. Only one parking space per room available. Definitely will be back.

My son was there and lost his ID but had paperwork so they were so gracious to give him a room and he lost his phone and the staff members were so wonderful to let him use his phone to try to contact me to get him another phone. He had a great time and had nothing but wonderful things to say about the staff. Thanks guys keep it up.

The unit was immaculately clean. I had an eye out for that after reading some negative reviews. The location is great for the beach. Other places around it would have to go further to a road that cut through to the beach. There is some traffic noise on the front of the building, but I didn’t find it bothersome. The best part was the staff. They were helpful and even loaned us sand toys and other things for the beach. Don’t forget to ask.

No basic cable or at least we couldn't figure it out. The receptionist was a joke. Didn't even look up when I asked a question. Answers were one word answer. Not helpful at all. Although the room was clean enough, the duvet had huge lumps all over it. I originally thought maybe somebody was under the covers or they left all their laundry under the sheets. I tried calling the front desk to see if we could get a different room but there was no way to get in touch with the front desk. My call was rerouted to a call center somewhere outside the USA. They told me I could move to another room for an additional fee. I politely told her no thank you but that we would not ge staying here again (which is a bummer because we stayed there before it changed hands and it was amazing). I really think it's an Airbnb now instead of a hotel because they don't even have a key to let you into your room. They send you a code for the keypad only. I would not recommend.

This property is on the main road there pack really good ear plugs for the road noise but also if you have a floor above you. Units 101-104 are basically on/below the sidewalk next to the main road. It’s basement feeling. No room cleaning unless you pay $35. Parking is very tight on property but they have extra space on the other side of the street. This costs you $16 per day. Pool heater did not work. Checkin was delayed for 1.5-2hrs as the key pads to the “2” units they had available did not work and the calling Center did not have the authority to open the room remotely. They compensated me with free parking. There are no dibs on site to help in these situations which is absurd. So for a whole week with 2 people we had the stress on one fob and NO working key pad and a staff that had no other options for us if we lose that fob or left it in the room by mistake. This is like a huge Airbnb with owners putting up their units in the rental pool.

We have been coming to this location for 20 years (even when it was called something else) bcz if it’s location to the balboa peninsula. It’s one of our favorite beaches. We loving riding our bikes from the hotel to the beaches, or shops, or to just get some tacos. It’s being renovated and is really nice and clean. Kind of echos due to the lack of carpet. Had some loud and rowdy neighbors one night. There was the lack of a room telephone and staff to report this to at 2 am. Otherwise, it’s a great stay if you want to stay right on PCH and have direct access to the beaches.

This is a small hotel. Clean and organized. Rooms are small. However, you have everything you need to get by. Parking like any where at the beach is small. I gotta say my family and I were happy because is conveniently located a block from the beach.

Hotel is in a good location, on PCH, just a few miles from Balboa Island. Clean and a decent rate for the area. Restaurants nearby - from coffee to Italian to deli to Mediterranean. Casablanca Restaurant is top notch.

This hotel was convenient for us having an event on Balboa. I loved the walking to the beach and the Vacancy Coffee shop nearby was incredible. Good dining options close by- but on weekend things open late. The front desk people were great- and helpful. We had a room on the backside and it was quiet.

Family of four stayed three nights. Loved the location to the beach and dining within steps. We ate at spaghetti benders next door for dinner and it was so delicious. For breakfast and lunch we ate at tide pools. Literally the best breakfast burritos. Parking at the hotel was never an issue and it is a safe neighborhood. We would definitely stay again.

This is a an overall great stay. Super convenient close to the beach, dining options and neighborhood feels safe and quiet. Overall will definitely stay here again. Improvement suggestions: black out curtains and more towels in bathroom.

This was the perfect beach hotel. We were able to easily walk to a very nice family friendly beach. There were a handful of restaurants close by. Breakfast could have been easier if they had some basics in the hotel lounge.

Stayed for a long weekend. Enjoyed the beach and nearby restaurants. It was a short walk. Easy parking so we could take the car to Huntington Beach too. Great property and real friendly staff.

Elevators did not work and we were on 3rd floor, no AC in staircase or hallways. Carpet dirty, AC was barely functioning in room, pillows were Lumpy, dirty windows and drapes, coffee machine didn’t work and no creamer or sugar, tea Or decaf.

Great location. Friendly staff. Our room was clean when we arrived, but overnight the sink backfilled with sewer water, and we woke to a fowl smelling black residue and sediment in our sink. The woman at the front desk was un-phased and asked that I send the photo to maintenance so they could address it. The bathroom light flickered nonstop, making it very annoying to get ready. The remote for our TV was missing a battery and the back cover. Don’t feel that we got our money’s worth for the circumstances. Very disappointed, as this place had potential to be great.

A lot better compare to June stay. Building was well maintained. Room was cleaner Staff was great. Still dust on the headboards and on the lamps. But bedding is terrible. Sheets are so old it’s like sleeping on the sand. Comforter has no cover. They just used 2 flat small sheets one under and one on top. It didn’t even cover comforter. We had to sleep with our cloth in order not to touch the comforter that’s being used by so many people.
