Econo Lodge Whitehall near Michigan's Adventure

I rented a room at this hotel because it was near Michigan's Adventure, next door to a walmart, not far from any restaurants, and the price wasn't terrible. As soon as you walk in, you are hit with an overwhelming chemical smell that you can tell is being used in an attempt to cover up the musty/mold smell. The further in you get, the worse off it gets! This place has not not been kept up on. The walls and floors are filthy in the hallways and stairways. I didn't feel any better when I walked into my room. Everything was covered in dust, the toilet wasn't clean, mold in the shower walls, ripped/stained furniture, broken blinds, disgusting curtains that havent been washed in years, and super uncomfortable beds. No breakfast is served here and the coffee is so horrible. The steps leading to the outdoor pool are broken along every edge being very sharp and dangerous. One of our family members cut his leg going down them. The outdoor pool was so gross I wouldnt even dunk a toe! The 3 staff members that I met were friendly and that is about the only thing this place has going for it. I can't imagine they are proud or happy to be working there. There is clearly a lack of management here, if any at all. Needs to be reported.

This was the most disgusting place with the smell of smoke and marijuana and it was so dirty! There was a dead baby cockroach in the drawer, dirty q-tip on the steps going up to our room and the walls were so dirty they were sticky! No one was at the front desk when we arrived for like 5 minutes we had no idea what to do. Don’t ever stay here ! The room was gross the tub was gross and our room said 2 queen beds and it was a full not a queen at all! Just disappointed! Not worth 250 dollars and the pool was not usable at all!

The property had no elevator. Stairwells were filthy. Rooms were not cleaned well. Curtains only hung halfway across window as they were missing most hooks. Bathroom door handle hanging and not working. No continental breakfast though there is a huge breakfast area. Vending machines not working.

We really like the location to Michigan park! and next to a Walmart if you forgot something. Restaurants were close. Was disappointed that pool was not open and the there was NO breakfast. We were not happy about this. Other than this it was not bad.

Ac worked fine, pool was closed. Had a little trouble working the television cable, toilet seat was loose.

Stayed in room 217. Hotel looks nothing like the pictures. Extremely dirty, our room smelled terrible, floor was sticky, the stairwell smelled like urine going from the first floor to the second floor. Horrible stains on side of mattress closest to the wall. Sign said pool was closed temporarily for maintenance, but it looks like it was closed for years. The woman that checked us in this very sweet and very helpful, but literally every other time we went down to the front desk if we needed something or to check out, the guy was outside smoking. I would not stay here again, I would not recommend staying here, unless you have no other choice.

NO ELEVATOR AND PUT ME AND MY GRANDDAUGHTER ON THE 2ND FLOOR. NOT 1 OTHER CAR WAS IN THE PARKING LOT SO ITS NOT LIKE IT WAS THE ONLY ONE AVAILABLE! U GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. WILL NOT BE STAYING THERE AGAIN

We had a great time the pool was really nice.

Parking lot is very dark. Not much lighting. Pool was closed due to construction. I was told that our rooms were going to be 206 and 209, but when we checked in, they were on the opposite ends of the hallway. The fan in bathroom didn't work. The shower sprayed everywhere and tub didn't drain fast, so we were ankle deep in water when we showered. The wall trim under the sink was busted off and bare. I will not return here. Only thing nice was the new carpet.

Bathroom was well-maintained. Bedroom could have used a more thorough cleaning.

the lock was broken in my room floors and bathrooms were dirty

Bathroom not clean Pillows didn't tempt them.

Hallways/staircases need to be vacuumed. There was an old sock and dirty fork left in the room from the time before.

Staff was outstanding, overall cleancless was in the "Just gross" catagoey

Staff was very nice, and for the price and limited options in the area, this hotel his above average. But the air conditioner rattled all night long and my partner had to wear earplugs just to fall asleep. When I brought this up, I was told that pretty much all the units were like this and if they fixed one, they'd have to replace them all. Which sounds like something they ought to do.

Didnt care for the lack of breakfest options and the smell of weed in the hallways. Room was very clean bed was very comfortable and very quiet

Check in was quick and easy. Front desk staff was very friendly. The room was clean. Bed was really comfy. Convenient location. Walmart right next-door. The room was a bit musty and the bathroom could use a little touch up. Less than 30 minutes to the beach and super close to Michigan Adventure. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would book here again.

Room was clean and comfortable, lounge chair had a tear or split in the seat, AC unit had a flapping sound, and tub drain was nearly clogged

Checked in for the night, and had to extend my trip the next morning, through the weekend. Great customer service for checking in, re-booking another room, saved on price because the rep suggested going back through Hotels.com. Switched rooms easily and setup for a comfortable weekend.

Greeted at check-in, wonderful customer service, both days. Needed to extend my stay and the Rep was courteous, suggested booking online to save, and promptly helped me to switch rooms and settle in for the weekend. Quiet and comfortable, enjoyed the stay and appreciated the service and support.

If possible stay away from this hotel. If you want a dog friendly one stay at the comfort inn across the street. The staff is rude, not helpful, and unfriendly.

The front desk clerk at check-in was unpleasant and not helpful. When asked about an early checkin, he replied "that's not gonna happen." The air conditioner in the room didn't work properly, and was eventually unplugged. The sink in the bathroom would not drain. The fan in the bathroom did not work properly. During checkout I asked for a receipt but was denied, saying that it came on the email I received when the room was booked.

Checking in was a very unpleasant experience.

We arrived early to see if we can check in but our room wasn't available which is fine. We went to Michigan Adventures. We came back around 9pm and our room was available. Unfortunately it was on the 2nd floor and the walk to the end of the hall woth luggage and 2 kids was not ideal but it is what it is. Lets not forget the RUDE lady who wasn't at the desk. I had to call up there and wait for her to come and check us into the room they had all day to prepare and clean but did not. It looked like literal blood on the walls when you walk in. I'm not kidding! I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel but at least a place where it was clean. I took pictures just in case they decide to charge me for incidentals that we did not do. And had my family look around as well in case they caught something i didn't.

Our room was quiet and comfortable, and the motel was in a park-like setting not far from the highway. The woman who checked us in gave good suggestions for restaurants, and it was easy to get to downtown Whitehall. I wish they still served breakfast, but the room did have a refrigerator and coffee maker, so we were able to make our own. I would definitely stay there again when visiting Whitehall.

We used this hotel for an overnight because it is close to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. NO BREAKFAST IS PROVIDED. However, there are lots of amenities near by. The area is beautiful with a trail around the lake. The hotel has friendly personal, clean rooms, updated linens, but is dated. Overall I would definitely stay here again.

When I arrived at the hotel in the evening and checked in I was given the room number #126 written on the key card envelope. When I walked to room 126 and tried to open it the door wouldn't unlock. I asked the manager who checked me in to unlock the door. She tried and could not unlock it so she used her general access card to unlock the bedroom and we suddenly noticed that it was occupied. She closed it quickly and said your room is #124 and not #126. When I finally entered my room, I noticed it was old looking and not like the other rooms I had stayed in the last few times. I noticed that the door did not close very tightly and that there was a gap and you can see the light in the hallway. When I tried to take a shower in the morning there was no way to turn the shower on. There was supposed to be a button on the faucet, but there wasn’t one on my faucet. When I wanted to eat some breakfast there was no breakfast available only unlimited coffee said a man at the front desk. He said they were going to phasing out breakfast at this hotel. I left quickly for work. I didn't want to be late for work so I got out of the hotel quick. I was very disappointed about this stay because I had decent rooms and had breakfast the last few stays.

Disappointed that there was nothing for breakfast and I thought there was supposed to be some type of continental.

This place was a good bit cheaper than other places in the area, but worked out well. It was not far from Michigan's Adventure theme park and White Lake. Bed was comfortable. I would have liked more light in the room. HVAC worked well. A working plug in the tub would have been helpful. There is no breakfast although it looked like there used to be.
