Such a lovely hotel , amazing view of the river , was given a upgrade wow it was a 2 bedroom apartment floor to ceiling window in lounge to relax and watch the boats sail by what more could we ask for . The food was all delicious, we had breakfast , lunch and dinner , staff were all very friendly . The hydropool in spa was relaxing everywhere was clean . There were a couple of niggles in the room , the bed was making creaking noises every movement which was a bit annoying so maybe the bedstead was loose ? But other than that it was very comfortable to sleep in , the rooms were incredibly warm so had to open windows couldn’t see any heating on anywhere , one bedside lamp wasn’t working , one of the bathroom sink plunger plugs was very hard to let water out when sink was full it worked eventually , and after a day everytime we opened the room door it started to stick and had to pull door towards us first in order for it to release to get in , all these are easily fixable so we didn’t complain as we were only there for 2 days and we had a lovely stay and would defiantly stay there again

Had a really good one night stay, food was lovely and a nice friendly atmosphere throughout. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful going out of their way when the spa shut earlier than we were told allowing us to use it

Hotel was clean tidy and welcoming. The "spa" is a very small pool and sauna. It was warm and quiet when we went so we were happy but its not a Spa. The breakfast was amazing - worth the wait as it seems every breakfast is cooked fresh to order. It certainly tasted like that. Lovely river side room.

Had a lovely stay here with my Granddaughter, we enjoyed massages and the spa pool and sauna, all very relaxing. Delicious and very filling breakfast. Lovely large room with views over the river. Would have given 5 stars but the requested twin was not made up and there was an event whose Disco was loud and went on until midnight.

The hotel experience was mediocre. The telephone in the room was out of order, leaving no way to contact reception or room service without physically going to the front desk. There was also no mobile signal, so using a mobile phone wasn’t an option either. The spa was fine but lacked atmosphere; as the only guest there, no refreshments were offered to help me relax. The room carpet had a visible stain, despite attempts to conceal it. Although the website claimed to offer 24-hour room service, this was not the case. When I returned to the hotel at 2 a.m., I was met by the night porter, who was also cleaning. Upon asking about room service, the only option offered was a chicken sandwich, which he would prepare, so I ended up going to bed hungry. However, I can’t fault the staff, as they were all friendly and polite.

Als Gast >10 Jahre fällt mir auf dass Manches schon stark in die Jahre gekommen ist. Siehe Fotos. Und in der Bar ist das Personal noch langsamer geworden. Wo ich beim nächsten Aufenthalt logieren werde? Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passt nicht mehr. Schade.

Really lovely stay for one night in a recently refurbished roomy double with lovely shower room and view across the river. Comfortable bed and well sound proofed. Didn’t have dinner but had beautifully made cocktails in the bar as a nightcap. Can recommend!! Breakfast was served efficiently by friendly staff, my only small complaint was that my breakfast was served lukewarm on cold plates. Will definitely return soon!!

Wonderful hotel, fabulous situation great location. Perfect for a stay in Christchurch. Staff were very hospitable. Lauren Jane and Sam were incredible. The only thing we need to watch is keeping the public toilet clean it lets them down. Also miss having the touches like tablecloth's at dinner in a separate restaurant that used to be. Also, the fish knife is having fish and the steak knife they're having steak. Also missed seeing the Porter at the door to be able to help in with luggage. Just those little fine touches are missed. Again making sure a glass of white wine is chilled enough is imperative. All these things are minor and the majority of the things they have right They also had a new lady on the podium as you went to the restaurant with the dark hair. We arrived on a Saturday and she was incredible. Totally engaging on top of her game, incredibly good maître D. She's so outstanding any hotel would be headhunting her. She makes a great benchmark for training new staff she will go a long way for sure! We look forward to our next stay at The Captains Club very much... well done !!

First impression, on arrival was pleasant location and staff fairly hospitable. Room a good size, clean and lovely view of river, however some niggles overshadowed this by inadequate instructions on some of the room facilities eg. room safe. It was noisy at times, as outside seating area below window. I am also disappointed there was no small chiller/fridge in room especially in an expensive hotel as this. . Restaurant staff very helpful and restaurant was pleasant. Overall unsure if I would return to this establishment.

The hotel experience was mediocre. The telephone in the room was out of order, leaving no way to contact reception or room service without physically going to the front desk. There was also no mobile signal, so using a mobile phone wasn’t an option either. The spa was fine but lacked atmosphere; as the only guest there, no refreshments were offered to help me relax. The room carpet had a visible stain, despite attempts to conceal it. Although the website claimed to offer 24-hour room service, this was not the case. When I returned to the hotel at 2 a.m., I was met by the night porter, who was also cleaning. Upon asking about room service, the only option offered was a chicken sandwich, which he would prepare, so I ended up going to bed hungry. However, I can’t fault the staff, as they were all friendly and polite.

Really lovely stay for one night in a recently refurbished roomy double with lovely shower room and view across the river. Comfortable bed and well sound proofed. Didn’t have dinner but had beautifully made cocktails in the bar as a nightcap. Can recommend!! Breakfast was served efficiently by friendly staff, my only small complaint was that my breakfast was served lukewarm on cold plates. Will definitely return soon!!

Also, the fish knife is having fish and the steak knife they're having steak. Also missed seeing the Porter at the door to be able to help in with luggage. Just those little fine touches are missed. Again making sure a glass of white wine is chilled enough is imperative. All these things are minor and the majority of the things they have right They also had a new lady on the podium as you went to the restaurant with the dark hair. We arrived on a Saturday and she was incredible. Totally engaging on top of her game, incredibly good maître D. She's so outstanding any hotel would be headhunting her. She makes a great benchmark for training new staff she will go a long way for sure! We look forward to our next stay at The Captains Club very much... well done !!

Had a lovely stay here with my Granddaughter, we enjoyed massages and the spa pool and sauna, all very relaxing. Delicious and very filling breakfast. Lovely large room with views over the river. Would have given 5 stars but the requested twin was not made up and there was an event whose Disco was loud and went on until midnight.

Such a lovely hotel , amazing view of the river , was given a upgrade wow it was a 2 bedroom apartment floor to ceiling window in lounge to relax and watch the boats sail by what more could we ask for . The food was all delicious, we had breakfast , lunch and dinner , staff were all very friendly . The hydropool in spa was relaxing everywhere was clean . There were a couple of niggles in the room , the bed was making creaking noises every movement which was a bit annoying so maybe the bedstead was loose ? But other than that it was very comfortable to sleep in , the rooms were incredibly warm so had to open windows couldn’t see any heating on anywhere , one bedside lamp wasn’t working , one of the bathroom sink plunger plugs was very hard to let water out when sink was full it worked eventually , and after a day everytime we opened the room door it started to stick and had to pull door towards us first in order for it to release to get in , all these are easily fixable so we didn’t complain as we were only there for 2 days and we had a lovely stay and would defiantly stay there again

Hotel was clean tidy and welcoming. The "spa" is a very small pool and sauna. It was warm and quiet when we went so we were happy but its not a Spa. The breakfast was amazing - worth the wait as it seems every breakfast is cooked fresh to order. It certainly tasted like that. Lovely river side room.

The location is fantastic, within walking distance of the town centre where there was plenty to see and eating places for a reasonable price. The marina was also within walking distance and very beautiful. The hotel is very good but the rooms could do with a spruce up. Excellent wheelchair access and the staff are very well trained in all aspects of service. The food in the restaurant is also superb. The full english breakfast appeared to be cooked to order and was beautifully fresh when served. For a relaxing break with nice walks and easy to other restaurants you couldn’t go wrong. Would definitely consider going back.

The room we booked was a two bedroom apartment with a cinema room and a kitchen. It was spacious as it had two bathrooms and a huge lounge - perfect for a family. The slight downside was the tv and sound system wasn’t working in the cinema room but overall the staff were helpful by allowing us to check out a little later than normal. I have to give special mentions for Jane and Katie (at the reception desk) and Harry (restaurant and bar). All of whom were excellent with the way they interacted with us. A couple of areas of feedback. The breakfast buffet should be expanded as it was minimal. I booked a two spa treatments for my wife as it was her birthday but the massage was average at best. Given the prices we believe it should have been better. Overall a great weekend getaway.
