Though generally nice, this house has some significant plumbing issues.Firstly, the boiler does not hold enough hot water for one person to have a meaningful shower, let alone two. If you like cold showers, this may not be a downside, but we do not.Secondly, the main bathroom toilet leaks, as my wet socks attest. 'Fortunately', it is cistern water rather than sewage, but let us consider that the purpose of the cistern is to hold water, not to leak it out at a rapid rate if you are making use of the facilities.I was forced to arrange a stack of glasses to hold the stream of water, which should not be a necessary holiday activity. Any weight on the seat causes the seals on the cistern bolts to fail and contribute further to the significant stains behind the bowl, so this is a known and unaddressed issue...Thirdly, the bath, even if the boiler could support it, seems to be somewhat non functional; it takes significant pressure to hold the plug down. My friends managed to get this working temporarily but it did pop up again, so who can tell? There is a questionable smell in the bathroom which suggests the bath hasn't been working for some time, or that there is a u bend which has gone dry.Separately, the house seems to be lose heat rapidly; make sure to bring more blankets if you're not a cool sleeper. This is all a terrible shame because it is decorated rather well and would be pleasanter if foundational issues were addressed. Two out of five; not uninhabitable.

The cozy cottage was very cute! Everything was spotless. The beds were comfortable, though we were there in the middle of winter and the two bedrooms on the far side of the house were very cold!! The second night, we built a fire in the fireplace, which made us very comfortable as we visited in the evening, however, when we went up to bed the upstairs was quite chilly because the thermostat is on the fireplace mantle. The heater in one bedroom never turned on. Also, there are lots of stairs, so it may be difficult for people with mobility issues, such as my elderly mother. The location is very near Bath with a grocery store close enough to walk to and a place to park the car. We had everything we needed during our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hatfield Cottage. The home was comfortable and the outdoor courtyard perfect for hanging out on summer evenings.

We had a wonderful 4 nights in Bath in this adorable cottage. The beds were extremely comfortable and kitchen was well equipped. We drove into downtown Bath a few times, it was a bit of a walk with kids, and used it as a home base to explore the area (Stonehenge, Wookey Caves). As Americans we found the front door opening directly onto the road a bit nerve wracking so families with small children just be sure an adult exits first. There was a strong musty smell but we assume that was just the nature of an old building and it didn’t bother us after a while. Just note there is no dryer. It doesn’t list one on the amenities but I missed it. Overall this was a wonderful spot and I would heartedly recommend.
