Alpine Gables

Alpine Gables is in a great location in beautiful Jindabyne. Our rooms were huge with everything we needed. The loft suite was a bit hot in summer due to the skylight but would be cosy in winter. The staff were really helpful and friendly. We enjoyed using the gym and also the swimming pool across the road.

We stayed at Alpine Gables as a gateway to Thredbo for mountain biking. The accommodation was comfortable and parking very easy and felt safe leaving our bikes on the back of the car in the carpark. Having easy access to Woolworths for groceries, and directly across from the lake for a quick dip was great.

Very nice spacious, quiet and clean place. Matt was well prepared for our late check-in which made things very easy. Place and facilities are very well maintained. Ample free parking right in front of the place. Will definitely go again next time

The property was well situated in Jindabyne, close to everything. The room was large, had a kitchenette and a balcony. It had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The owner helped bring our luggage up and down the many stairs and was an admirable host. Only difficulty for older travelers is the absence of a lift.

Property was well located, heaps of parking and quiet.

This was a well placed stay, but the room was poorly designed, with the couch side on to the tv and not functional. Cupboard space was limited. Good laundry but access to outside bins to place excess rubbish was not possible as they seemed to be locked. We loved the Jindabyne area.

The hotel is very close to the shopping area of the town with woolworth, skiii rental, shops, eateries. The Messa bar is next door, which can be quite noisy at times to 1 am, but may be quite convenient for others who can hang around there I guess. I enjoyed the sauna which is close to a mini gym. We used it a few times and it was empty, so we can be alone with my wife. The tap water is drinkable and I could make it very warm to take a hot shower. The room was clear, nice and warm with two heaters available which did the job done. The kitchen was pretty basic with single electric fry pan, but was sufficient for our needs. There is a bit of wear and tear. with just little things, like a loose railing on the staircase. Overall, we liked our room. The staff is nice and friendly and still works in the covid mode: they don't clean the room, just empty trash and replace towels.

Heating can be improved No lift so it is difficult to carry heavy items on stairs

First of all our bathroom was absolutely filthy, there was splatters all over the mirror, tap, counter and sink. There were yellow drips down the cabinet front and hairs hanging off. The toilet seat was filthy and the bath tub full of hair. We had to clean it ourselves before we could use it. Next we were apprehended rudely and in a very threatening manner because we had not included our children in the booking. This was an honest mistake, we had not meant this to happen (the booking process has a default of 2 adults, we had initially got a quote for 2 adults & 2 children when shopping around for various places to stay &when going back to book this location, it changed to the default setting which we didn't know had happened). I apologized for this & was willing to pay but the way I was aggressively approached and accused was what was most shocking. This manager was obviously on some substance, he got more & more twitchy & aggressive each time he apprehended us & we felt so unsafe. He threatened my innocent children because my 2 year old touched his inflatable Christmas decorations a couple of times. We had our hands full bringing in luggage & couldn't restrain him every time but we were stopping him each time. This manager could see this yet he still kept yelling out & telling him off. My older children were traumatized & too scared to come out of their room. There was no Christmas spirit whatsoever in the place, and it was clear children weren' welcome. Never

Apartment was around the back of the building, sketchy, felt like an old staff accommodation. Absolutely stunk of cigarettes and dampness. Filthy bathroom with hair all over the floor and dirty toilet and sink. Very low ceilings, felt like a basement, has one window in the bedroom that was blocked off by panels so very dark no light. Dirty cutlery, stove top and tables. We walked in and walked right back out due to conditions. Did not ever get a refund back because we booked through Expedia. Would not book again and would not use Expedia again.

Excellent location. Close to Woolworths, dining and ski hire, and the bus to get up to the mountain. We did not even drive anywhere while in Jindabyne. The property was not cleaned that well and the rubbish from the previous people was not taken away. However, the owner was very nice, which made up for it. We will definitely be staying there again.

We often travel to Thredbo for mountain biking and staying here in Jindabyne is so much better than staying in Thredbo itself - much quieter and easier, the parking is so much more spacious and a lot more user friendly when you have a larger vehicle with mountain bikes on racks, etc.. Check in was super easy and Matt is a very friendly and helpful manager.. The room we stayed in was nice and clean, the shower was great and we loved the extra bedroom space upstairs and also the balcony was nice to have.. The one and only thing we would have liked was if the room had air conditioning - it did have a ceiling fan and a portable fan, but it was still a bit warm.. But that’s it, everything else was amazing.. We will definitely be staying here again for sure! Thanks again!

The room was spotless & the staff was excellent

Good central location. Lovely renovated kitchen and bathroom. Room was extremely dirty. Some sort of tomato sauce on carpet. Property manager offered additional cleaning while we were out and some of it was cleaned but not all. Dirty table, bench, chairs, skirting boards. No aircon and room way too hot when 28 outside. Windows didn’t fully open. Ceiling fan dangling. Don’t mind older properties and often stay in older cheaper properties but cleanliness is non negotiable. Very disappointed.

Check in and check out was quick and easy. Disappointed that there was staining on the bed sheets on the top bunk and dishwasher scraps from previous users were still present.

We were only at the Gables overnight. It’s a convenient location, the property is getting tired but it’s comfortable and clean. The manager Matt does a great job and is incredibly accomodating. If we’re back that way we’ll stay again.

We were thrilled when we arrived, our room was gorgeous, fresh, and clean.

Room was amazing. Very large. Modern finish & excellent kitchen & bathroom.

Second time staying at this property, because of the great location. Do not be confused by the photos of the kitchen. There is a kettle & microwave only for heating ready meals & snacks - despite having good fridge & freezer, there is no oven or cooktop & signs up regarding charges if the alarms are triggered. If you are planning to cook for your family or group, this is not the place for you.

One of the rooms did not have aircondition. And one of the rooms toilets was not clean.

The foyer and common areas are beautiful but be warned there is no lift so be prepared to take your luggage up the stairs if your room is on the first floor. The room had no air conditioning and became incredibly warm and uncomfortable overnight, even with the overhead fan going and balcony door open. The kitchenette didn't have an exhaust fan so using the electric frypan provided filled the room with smoke which took ages to clear (even with the overhead fan going and balcony door open as mentioned above). Might be more pleasant in the winter but couldn't recommend for an extended summer stay.

The property doesn't have air conditioning which was very uncomfortable during the summer visit.

If booking with little kids bear in mind at least some bunks don’t have a safety rail at the top (e.g. ours), which even at an economy price isn’t really acceptable.

Arrived around 3.30 to find front door locked and reception closed. Called an offsite call centre and was put on hold while they found someone that could let us in. The fellow who eventually arrived was gruff and didn’t make us feel very welcome at all. The rooms were cold and the windows left open. No central heating but only a little space heater that didn’t work. Bed was fine and TV had streaming services but they were the only positives.

My husband and I travelled through on a motorbike and stayed at the Alpine Gables Resort. We were greeted very friendly and received an unexpected upgrade to a river view room which was just beautiful. We had dinner at the Brumby and enjoyed the entertainment of open mic friday night. Thanks for a great stay

Man at the front desk was extremly rude. He went from being decent to very disrespectful and accused my co-traveller that they had 4 extra kids with them when they didn’t and demanded an extra payment of $160. He threatened to kick us out because of their toddler touching the christmas display and disregarded the complaint that the bathroom was not clean (hairs streaks on mirror, shower glass and bench) Appalling customer service, do NOT bother staying here. Room was stifling hot too.

Arrived at 1:50pm to find a sign on the front desk that said reception is closed until 2 pm. Waited until 2 pm before approaching the desk and asking the man behind the desk if we can check in to which he replied he doesn’t work there and would call the manager. He called the manager on loudspeaker and we were able to overhear the conversation where the manager responded and said he is closed for lunch and if we don’t like it, we can go somewhere else. We waited another five minutes and the manager appeared abruptly and rudely and when we asked him if he wanted us to go elsewhere he said he would not give us a refund and that we shouldn’t be eavesdropping on his conversation. We explained the conversation was on loudspeaker in a quiet reception area and it was very rude of him to speak. this way to guests that were there to check in at the required time. This man continued to be intimidating with a loud voice and no apology for his behaviour. This made us feel very uncomfortable as guests at this accommodation. As a business owner who frequents this area I can confirm I will never stay in this property again and hope the business owners consider who they have representing their company and perhaps offer him customer service training if they wish to stay in business. We did request a refund through the company we booked through and they attempted to obtain this for us however management refused to refund. Would not recommend this accommodation.

Check in process was super easy and the people there were amazing!! Matty is such a great person to be around! Will be booking here again when the family come and visit. Very safe, clean and quiet. Loved it

Alpine Gables is a perfect hotel to have everything for travellers, very handy and comfortable. The hotel is so conveniently located in the central of Jindabyne NSW with a short distance to Mount Kosciuszko easily.

Visited during late spring so the town was quiet. Woolworths across the road. Heater provided and was handy. Public EV chargers just up the road (NRMA), plus BP petrol station across the road. Value for money off skiing season.

Alpine Gables provides affordable accomodation in a location within walking distance of restaurants and the shopping centre. It was a perfect base for our stay in Jindabyne.

It functional, tailored really for skiing overflow from nearby resorts. Local Mexican restaurant was excellent.
