Nothing negative about The Buckingham itself, but a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT was that the pool was for only ages 18 and up. We came to Chicago for spring break with our 8yo daughter and promised her a pool. Pool is listed in the amenities with ZERO MENTION of age restriction. It's only when you check into your room that there's a small sign that says the pool is 18 and up. That really, really sucked. PLEASE help other families know this up front.

Property was very clean. It was in a nice area. The property itself was amazing. The only thing for me was that their club is closed on weekends so no pool access if you are staying the weekend.

First off, we spent 30 minutes in the lobby because the hotel employee was not picking up the phone to allow security to send us up. We had just left the festival and wanted to go upstairs, check in quickly, but instead almost fell asleep in the lobby. Next day, we decided to get the continental breakfast. VERY LIMITED options. Worst of all, the milk was SPOILED! The coffee was not even hot and it did not meet basic coffee standards. If this does not come included, just walk to Dunkin’ Donuts which is a 45 second walk away from the hotel. Not only that, the hotel charges you for any little thing. Just take your own snacks, the hotel was not cheap, but they made our experience not want to go back even with that view. Overall, it’s in a great area; just a 5-10 min walk from grant park. You have the metro nearby with easy access to the 290 expressway. There are many food options also a walk away. The view is great! Besides that, do not expect high amenities from the hotel. Additionally, if you’re staying the weekend, there is no gym available.

Suite is more spacious than shown in photos. Can’t say enough about the views. Super quiet and safe. Cool to get access to the athletic club. Did I mention the view? As others have mentioned, this is a hidden gem.

The hotel is very nice and quiet. It is very secure. The only downside is how difficult it is to actually get to the hotel. Once you get the hang of it, it does become much easier. There are multiple elevators involved and getting down to the parking garage is a bit of a hassle as well. The breakfast was a little disappointing. Just cold cereals and such. The bed was extremely comfortable, especially the pillows. Great toiletry products. The view was absolutely amazing. The only issue really was getting into the hotel for the very first time.

Checked in 2pm because that’s what the email said. But when we checked in we were told we could have checked in at 11am. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time because we were exhausted from traveling and had to kill time. Bed was comfortable, tub was large. Baseboards should be cleaned more frequently. Would stay again next time we’re in Chicago.

My stay at the Buckingham Hotel was truly lovely. While locating the hotel can be a bit tricky (it’s tucked inside a business building and requires taking two elevators to reach the entrance) - it’s worth the effort. The entrance resembles a medical office more than a traditional hotel, but they’ve made an effort to add warmth with seasonal decorations. The staff were exceptionally friendly and even upgraded my room to a lake view, which was a wonderful surprise. The room itself was impressively spacious, spotless, and quiet, with stunning views. I especially appreciated the sense of privacy it offered right in the heart of the city. The location is fantastic- just a pleasant 20-minute walk to Millennium Park and the lakefront. There are plenty of nearby options for a quick bite or morning coffee, and the hotel also provides a convenient grab-and-go breakfast. I did not have a use for parking facilities during my stay, so I am unable to speak to parking.

From the time we arrived through checking out, both the building security staff and the hotel staff were amazing in every way! Always positive, polite, attentive, welcoming, and courteous. The building, hotel, and the room itself were immaculate. The amenities were wonderful. The view was breathtaking both day and night!!! This property and all of the staff are an absolute hidden gem!

Not the best stay I have had there. Stay was for two nights but room was not refreshed during stay. Lake view room had issues with TV, blinds and internet connectivity. Willing to give it another try because if location for me, but if not improved next tome, I’ll opt for other nearby options.

Views were stunning, it’s hard to find like everyone has noted, it’s slightly out dated but not tacky. The thing no one talks about is that water pressure. Your skin will be extra clean, power washer clean. It was a great stay!

A very spacious room with beautiful view of the Chicago skyline. Entrance can be tricky to find first time, inside 425 financial building and an elevator to the 39th floor then different elevator up to 40. Lovely little help yourself continental breakfast and easy location to get public transport or just walk around the downtown area.

Great stay! Great views, really! The train makes a lot of noise and we can hear from the room, but that’s not the hotel fault, but, in the future I’ll prefer some option without this disturbing recurring from every 15min 24/7 noise

Room was clean and bed was very nice. Parking was on the expensive side but we did have in and out access. Staff was rarely at the front desk so it was hard to get ahold of them. Our TV didn’t work the 3 days we stayed, we did mention it twice but no one fixed it. Shower also didn’t have a lot of warm water.

The shower would be a problem for anyone who is shorter than 5’8”. It was a very large step up and over to get into the shower. Not recommended if you have any mobility issues or short legs.

The rooms are amazing high ceilings huge windows ton of space. I will go back here. The only downside is the amenities are very limited. You need to bring your own stuff food, drinks coffee etc.

Hot water took over 20 mins to turn Luke warm even. Tv would not connect to any channels. Room was very basic only thing going for it was the view and location.

This hotel was so amazing! The building security went above and beyond and the front desk staff for both overnight and morning were friendly and very knowledgeable. Such amazing service and such a beautiful hotel. The view from the room was perfect of the city line!

Our TV didn’t work the 3 days we stayed, we did mention it twice but no one fixed it. Shower also didn’t have a lot of warm water.

From the time we arrived through checking out, both the building security staff and the hotel staff were amazing in every way! Always positive, polite, attentive, welcoming, and courteous. The building, hotel, and the room itself were immaculate. The amenities were wonderful. The view was breathtaking both day and night!!! This property and all of the staff are an absolute hidden gem!

Good accommodation. Quiet, clean and spacious. Close to almost anything in downtown Chicago. Only qualm is the somewhat odd entry thru an office building which requires a badge, take the elevator to the 39th floor, and then another elevator to the 40th floor. But it's worth the effort.

A very spacious room with beautiful view of the Chicago skyline. Entrance can be tricky to find first time, inside 425 financial building and an elevator to the 39th floor then different elevator up to 40. Lovely little help yourself continental breakfast and easy location to get public transport or just walk around the downtown area.

My stay at the Buckingham Hotel was truly lovely. While locating the hotel can be a bit tricky (it’s tucked inside a business building and requires taking two elevators to reach the entrance) - it’s worth the effort. The entrance resembles a medical office more than a traditional hotel, but they’ve made an effort to add warmth with seasonal decorations. The staff were exceptionally friendly and even upgraded my room to a lake view, which was a wonderful surprise. The room itself was impressively spacious, spotless, and quiet, with stunning views. I especially appreciated the sense of privacy it offered right in the heart of the city. The location is fantastic- just a pleasant 20-minute walk to Millennium Park and the lakefront. There are plenty of nearby options for a quick bite or morning coffee, and the hotel also provides a convenient grab-and-go breakfast. I did not have a use for parking facilities during my stay, so I am unable to speak to parking.

We had a great stay. Our view was fantastic and the suite was huge and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Staying at this hotel is complicated slightly by the number of elevator transfers and key card swipes you need to make to access the hotel floor or reach the garage, but it's all worth it. The location is great, the rooms are secure, parking was plentiful and we would stay there again.

First off, we spent 30 minutes in the lobby because the hotel employee was not picking up the phone to allow security to send us up. We had just left the festival and wanted to go upstairs, check in quickly, but instead almost fell asleep in the lobby. Next day, we decided to get the continental breakfast. VERY LIMITED options. Worst of all, the milk was SPOILED! The coffee was not even hot and it did not meet basic coffee standards. If this does not come included, just walk to Dunkin’ Donuts which is a 45 second walk away from the hotel. Not only that, the hotel charges you for any little thing. Just take your own snacks, the hotel was not cheap, but they made our experience not want to go back even with that view. Overall, it’s in a great area; just a 5-10 min walk from grant park. You have the metro nearby with easy access to the 290 expressway. There are many food options also a walk away. The view is great! Besides that, do not expect high amenities from the hotel. Additionally, if you’re staying the weekend, there is no gym available.

Hard to locate. Unaware the hotel was actually located on the 40th floor. The hotel room was ok, the continental breakfast was k-pod coffee, which was in the room.

Beautiful, aesthetic rooms with a classic wood design. Very comfortable. Nice touches like actual marble sink top and porcelain faucets. Large tub. Impressive view of city from room and in breakfast area. Breakfast area has a multitude of options and is kept very clean. We will be returning to this gem again.
