Old Faithful Inn - Inside the Park

Excellent location. Tired cramped room noisy from above Unattractive outlook from room. No casual dining options . No WIFI. Good gift shop. Hepful staff . Bathroom was xramped and inadequate. Coffee machine had to be replaced twice. No USB charging facilities in room

Parking was poor. Food was poor and extremely expensive, Room was expected to be dated. But not with chipped paint and poor cleanliness, Room was not ready when we first checked in. Very expensive room for what we got. I won't do it again.

No wi-fi in this day and age is awful. To plan and organise and navigate it is essential. To access bookings and timings for things and to plan journeys it is needed. It is madness not to have it available. Having to share a bathroom is awful. Only 2 cubicles per section of the floor is not very helpful. The restroom stalls are appalling for privacy. The lower part of the door is so high it is almost at knee height. The top of the door is about 5 feet high and people can peer over the top of the stall doors. And there are gaps in the sides of the doors by the hinges and locks so dignity is not preserved. We arrived at night. The car park is in total darkness and difficult to navigate. And it is not clear that there’s a second car park. The food options are also terrible. No option to buy anything to eat or drink after 10pm. Have to walk across dark car parks to the Snow Lodge. Really not helpful at all. In the bedrooms - no bedside table or lamp. No curtains or blinds, only net curtains. So we were woken at dawn by the sun streaming in. Breakfast wasn’t a great experience either. Long waits for drinks. They fill your coffee cup and take away the container of coffee. You have to order fruit juice which is brought from the basement. Many sub-standard and easily remedied issues. The building no doubt has limitations, but it could be made more comfortable without many major changes with some better thought out facilities with the customer in mind.

It was very nice to be able to just walk down to Old Faithful. Although this was the most expensive hotel we have stayed at. The room was old and small. The radiator made noise during the night. It was very warm in the room ( we knew there was no AC) but all the other hotels in the park had fans in the room. Not this one. We had to park very far away and it was dark walking back to the hotel. No elevator so be prepared to lug suitcases up the stairs.

No restroom or shower in the room, no a/c, had to park down the road at the gas station in the dark and walk back, no coffee available in the morning, limited options for food, poor service at the bar snacks area, no wifi, small fan didn’t stir any air. Overall not a good experience. Expensive one night stay.

The bathroom and shower options need to be improved.

For the price you pay to stay here, the food options are horrible. The rooms are small, very loud, no air flow/fan or AC and no fridge or WiFi. The only dinning room is reservation only, which left the Bear Pit/Bar area. Their is only 5 food items on the menu, which was not a great selection. Very diappointed in the bang for your buck, will not stay here again.

This hotel was 200 yards from Old Faithful. It is an historic hotel that lacks modern features. No TV no radio no Internet and no A/C. Just loads of character and history. Dining was a real problem as you need to make dinner reservations days in advance. However breakfast was first come and it was delicious. We loved our stay. I highly recommend you book through Hotels.com for good rooms

This review is for the hotel only. Park was great but the Inn was awful. No parking. No room service. No Wi-Fi, no TV, no fridge, no microwave - they call this being sustainable. Radiators for heat produced knocking sound making it hard to sleep. Sound proofing between rooms - nonexistent which also affected our sleep. General store was closed - bottled water at gift shop was very expensive. All nice seating around the big fireplace and main lobby got filled quickly evening time so we couldn't enjoy it (we had 4 people). Signs around the park and the Inn were terrible. Composite walks around the geysers were dangerously slippery when wet - why not just keep using wood? We only ate dinner and lunch around the hotel - food was overpriced and low quality. Hard to make dinner reservation at the Inn for the time you want and 40-50 min wait at Snow Lodge. Bottom line - only good thing about the Inn was the location and the looks of the hotel. The management gets so many people each year that they don't really care about your experience. They know that most people would not come back - it's a classic tourist trap.

Very clean room.

I didn’t realize but there were no bathrooms in the rooms. We had to go down the hall to go to the bathroom and shower. There was only 1 functioning shower. The room was dusty and the bedding had a tired small. The entire lodge had a moldy smell. The lights were dim throughout and we had no wifi or telephones. There was a radiator in our room and we were told if it got too hot to regulate by opening the window. We asked for a room swap to upgrade where we were willing to pay extra but the front desk said no. The buffet was mediocre and over-priced. The fast food in the Snow Lodge was worse. There was no complementary coffee either. So we had to wait until 6:30 AM to get coffee from a small shop downstairs. They need to knock the lodge down and build an updated version. The staff was very sweet and apologetic. The hotel is close to old Faithful and was a good location. So we didn’t wash except for our face the whole time and went to our next lovely hotel in CodyWY where we could have a nice shower and clean linens. They had a lovely coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar. The staff made us delicious warm cookies. And the nightmare lodge from Yellowstone forgotten

Convenient location with great options for breakfast, snacks and dinner. However, the room we booked, despite looking clean, it had bed bugs. We were severely bitten in the one night we stayed over.

Staying here is mostly about the history of the Inn. Seeing Old Faithful from the balcony was really neat! Staff was great, but the room needed a good, deep vacuum and the coffee cups didn’t look clean. Bathroom was good.

Was really looking forward to revisiting this grand hotel, but found that the room was in pretty poor shape. I'll acknowledge that we visited at end of season and that may be part of the reason things were in disrepair, but simple cleaning was missing and most importantly, the room's condition (carpets, walls, etc...) were sorely in need of attention. Would recommend stopping to see this once great property, but it is not worth the high cost to stay there.

Not worth the cost! Our room was not very clean, grime in corners of bathroom. There was no toilet paper in our room. You are paying for the location, not the room quality. I would recommend staying somewhere else and just driving to see the geyser’s and other things here.

Front desk is helpful with Park questions. The view is amazing. You can get an alcoholic drink, coffee, or some ice cream and watch the amazing Old Faithful erupt. The rooms were nice and clean. There's lots of stores, places to eat, drink, or grab coffee. We were very happy we stayed here!

I had a live mouse in my room, and called front desk. They said they might be able to get me a different room but no guarantee that it would be mouse free. They had someone come an set a trap in my room. Very angry that I paid so much money and have to deal with mice.😡

Wife overheard cleaning crew saying they will run vacuum cleaners in halls outside rooms to intentionally wake guests. I realize the hotel is a national treasure and inside a park but for the price of the rooms I expected cleaner rooms.

Was close to the geyser. Mouse in our room. At checkout she was told about it and she said yes she knew it. Lacking in elevators. Would never stay there again nor recommend it.

Great location by Old Faithful. Main lodge is fantastic. The room we had in the west wing was very small and noisy. Other than the noise, it was what we were expecting.

Very beautiful old lodge. We had an East wing room which has an onsuite. The rooms are nothing over the top but when you can lay in bed and look at Old Faithful, it is pretty spectacular!

What a dump, especially for $423 per night (including fees/taxes). It is a complete rip-off for them to charge what they do for these rooms. I’ll start with the only good part - Location. And I will admit the main building - a historic log structure is cool. But, that’s where it ends. The room was SMALL, the bed uncomfortable (and old), the room smelled, it is SO outdated, it’s LOUD (walls/doors must be so thin because they are OLD), no TV and no WiFi - for $423! Ridiculous. Carpet was OLD and dingy. I wouldn’t walk around barefoot. Walking down the hallway was like I was in the hall of my college dorm building in the 90’s! It was no better than a Motel 6 about 40 years ago. Actually, a Motel 6 would have been better, because I would have known what to expect, and probably would have paid around $100 for the night. If you can’t tell already, we were beyond disappointed. Oh, and we are TIRED, cuz we couldn’t sleep in the uncomfortable bed, and because of the guest above us who took a shower at 4:30AM - we could hear EVERYTHING - him or her walking around, the shower turning on/off, and the doors closing. We are disgusted that the National Parks are ripping people off at this place.

We paid over 500 dollars to sleep in a ground floor small tiny room. I would recommend to visit in the hotel it is very unique. But do not stay there.

Very unique and excellent property to visit, but I do not recommend staying there. Rooms are very small. Had to share bathroom with others, with showers located one floor up. Room located, looking out over the parking lot with no security drapes. No TV or Internet and cell service very spotty. Food was mediocre other than the buffet breakfast, which was very good. Loved the location, the area around the hotel and the history, but not a place to spend the night at this point.

Restaurant was very nice with wonderful staff. The lobby was very old time charm. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Rooms could use some updating. No A/C

We stayed 1 night in this historic hotel and really enjoyed its atmosphere and to be able to see the geyser from our hotel room. But it is an old hotel so be aware it is quite noisy and we were awaken very early, so not the best option to rest but it was really great to be on site for the different hikes around.

Old Faithful Inn is awesome! They added door closers so that the doors do not slam. The whole place is so iconic and the staff are absolutely wonderful. They even called me about a ring that I had lost in my room and offered to send it to me. I appreciate all of their thoughtfulness. There were also sufficient dining options around the whole complex (beyond the Inn itself). I’d love to come back again soon!

It’s very rustic, nice place. Check in was very rough, we waited for 2.5 hours to get our room. It was 6:30pm before we could get our room. There were several people waiting for rooms.

I absolutely loved the fantastic location and the wonderful old-fashioned charm of this hotel. The service was also outstanding, with remarkable attention to detail evident everywhere, even in the restrooms. The breakfast was excellent and offered good value. My only minor disappointment was that the lovely lobby fireplace wasn't lit. While dinner was a little expensive, the overall experience was still very positive.

Very difficult to get around , facilities were excellent , parking = terrible,, Most of staff did not even care you were there

We checked-in early but room was not available and was told to come back at check-in time (4 PM). At 4 PM they were all confused as we had checked in early and could not find out keys. Were then told they were still cleaning the room and were told to wait further but we had our luggage and dinner reservations at 5 PM. We finally received keys after 2 hrs after dinner. We were not the only ones waiting a long time for a room.

Unfriendly staff

Horrendous experience. The rooms were not ready when we arrived at the 4 o'clock check-in time. There was no place to store luggage plus the reception area was full so we had to stand with our luggage and wait for 3 hours. The rooms were extremely expensive and in no way worth the money. The staff at the reception counter was not helpful and in fact, in some cases rude. I was so looking forward to staying at The Inn and so very, very disappointed.

The front desk told me that we couldn't check in until 4pm, at 4 pm we were told the computers were down and to return in an hour. This continued until 8:45 pm, when we were made to stand in a line for 45 minutes for manuel check in. We did not get into our room until 10pm, losing 6 hours of our stay. There was no recourse as we booked through Expedia.

Location wise it was excellent for our friends to experience Old Faithful and to rest a bit before pressing on with our trek. The rooms were in fair condition for the price paid. I know the staff was extremely busy and overwhelmed with tourists/customers, but that should not be an excuse for our rooms being over two hours late for our use.

Love the history and atmosphere on this hotel. You can't beat the location either right by Old Faithful Geyser. Enjoyed breakfast every morning. Dinner was a bit of a let down for the price. Not enough selection. We ate at Snow Lodge more.

Well worth staying in the park,great location

Location is the main reason to select the property. Public space is historic and nice, but living rooms are comfortable, small and there is no internet in the entire hotel.

Great location - could walk to food, gifts, attractions.

Unique place to stay in. The Inn is right next to the Old Faithful and visitor center. Very convenient to visit nearby geysers. It has an all you can eat restaurant for all meals.

Being geyser side was so much fun. Able to watch Old Faithful anytime of day and night. The history and grandeur of the Inn is spectacular. I don't recommend eating at the restaurant inside the inn. The other food options were much better.

Staying at the inn provides access to many geysers within walking distance. They should consider making the parking lot in the front of the inn for guests only.

While we enjoyed our overall stay at the charming Old Faithful Inn, we were unaware of the lack of food options in and around the hotel. This was our first visit to Yellowstone Park and we knew there may not be many locations to choose from, however we were surprised and caught off guard to learn that the only dining option at the hotel was a reservation only buffet. For the 2 nights of our stay, the earliest reservations left were for 9:45pm. Who wants to eat a buffet that late? We also were not able to find a place for breakfast the next morning, and ended up eating disgusting convenience store items from the general store. The experience in and around Old Faithful was wonderful, but dining and food options left much to be desired.

All the quaintness you would expect and more! Could sit on the second story porch drinking coffee and watch Old Faithful erupt. We got to sit around the big fireplace after dinner and enjoy the cello and piano being played on the second floor. The room was small (we were in the west wing) but adequate. The only downside was the dining room only offered the same buffet every night at $50/person. Menu service hadn't begun yet.

Very easy access to upper geyser basin and old faithful. No wifi in the inn, not a lot of choice food in the restaurant at the inn at the end of the season ( end of September) . However excellent options for food at snowlodge , so had to walk a distance to get a good meal Had excellent barista, bar, gift shop and great deck to watch old faithful errupt

Property and dining venues were understaffed. Waited for our table even though we had reservations. Weren’t told till we were seated that the dining room was buffet only. Price was posted as $39.99 and when our bill arrived $49.99 per person. Food was cold and not good. Left feeling scammed.

historic significance of this property is great. Beautiful lodge but very loud if you are a light sleeper. Food quality is terrible Staff is very nice. We had trouble finding parking as a guest. You should consider have geyser parking and Inn guest parking
