3/2025. Property currently under renovation. No elevator must take service stairs to reach rooms. Room itself was comfy and quiet. Staff were friendly. Can't wait to see what the new renovations hold. Room did have a fireplace and some wood was provided. Have to come up with your own way of lighting it...... Lobby does offer a pool table, fireplace and vending. No alcohol or gaming at this time. Dinner service by Nick was amazing. As well as the food.

I liked the bar option w food and pool table. You advertise a spa, which there is none or pool or hot tub or fireplace options to maximize property! Lots to improve and maximize…. Definitely would come back, though….

CHECKING IN: Surrounding asphalt was nothing but potholes. I was able to check in early (although 4pm is awfully late for a check-in time). There is no elevator. They were able to move me to a ground floor room. Most likely because there were only a few other guests in the hotel. FOOD: No beverage options other than the alcohol at the bar or sodas at the restaurant. There was a cafe (a very generous distinction) that carried children’s box drinks. It boasted being open 24 hours, but it was consistently unmanned. I ordered food to-go at the restaurant. At the time there were only 3 patrons in the entire place and 2 servers. Both servers gave me the impression that I was bothering them. My food took 40 minutes and they messed up my order. If you're staying here, stock up on snacks before heading up the mountain. ROOM: The door to my room was very heavy and difficult to prop open while carrying things. The wifi was very poor. No desk/chair or clock in the room. The entire place had a run down and poorly maintained feel about it. POSITIVES: The view is great. It was pretty quiet. The shower had good water pressure and the water got hot right away. There was plenty of parking. This place has a lot of potential. My impression is that it doesn’t generate enough business to fund major upgrades. Which is a shame. If you are the only major hotel in a remote tourist area, you are at a major advantage. I would love to see this place become something more.

Be aware there is no elevator at this property. Staff was very courteous and more than happy to assist with carrying luggage if needed. There was a wedding reception the evening we arrived and the parking lot which is tiered with stairs leading down to the entrance was nearly full. The lobby is welcoming with a bar and restaurant and we enjoyed a nice dinner the night we arrived and a breakfast the following morning. The wait staff were very attentive and food very good with a nice selection to choose from. The room is adequate but very outdated. The facility itself seems neglected and in need of maintenance. Weatherstripping was hanging from the doors at the front entrance, door handles were loose in stairwells and windows in the restaurant were very dirty making views of the outside less enjoyable.

This property is beautiful. The room was clean. The water pressure was great for the shower. There is no elevator to get to higher floors. We tried the restaurant and the server was really helpful and friendly. We had breakfast and it was a lot of food. Overall ggod experience, just no elevator can be an issue if you have an issue with stairs.

Bathroom was filthy. We got a lysol wipe bottle to clean in/around surfaces and ended up scrubbing the floor with these wipes in the bathroom because of how dirty and sticky it was. I wiped the floors by hand, with these wipes. Dont take off your shoes.. seriously bring slippers & never hop out of bed without them. Lobby has trash & dust bunnies everywhere, not kept up. We woke up super stuffy in our rooms due to how dirty it was probably. Wont be coming back here… also the road leading here is unlit & you will lose service on your way out there. The housekeepers were right next door and around 8am they would begin talking so loud & noisy yelling back and forth to each other in the hallway meanwhile my daughter was trying to sleep. Very inconsiderate & annoying to hear at 8.On our second night heading back to the hotel, we were driving back around 10pm and suddenly I had to swerve randomly into the other lane because some smart person decided to pull an ENTIRE semi truck trailer (on its wheels) with a literal tractor… yes you read that right… I cannot make this up. Unlit road, no emergency lights, could NOT see this trailer in pitch black dark! Luckily my truck lights are bright, but let me tell you! That was SCARY & I had my 4.5 month old in the backseat. Absolutely ridiculous that people are out there doing such dangerous things like this meanwhile there are still cars going up and down this road. I hope no one got hurt, but keep an eye out for idiots doing s*** like that.

At check-in, the receptionist was on a personal video call, which she made more important, leaving me waiting until she hung up. The room was dirty, dusty everywhere. The toilet had stains from improper cleaning. None of the vending machines worked. There's no elevator, and the stairs had been repaired with duct tape.

Don't be fooled by the pretty photos, this place needs to be shut down. The room was on third floor, no elevator just stairs that were duct taped together, literally. Bathroom was so nasty we didnt want to take showers, moldy grout, super dirty tub, cracked sink. Flys came in under the door to the miniscule patio that smelled of fried foods, molding on floor coming apart with exposed nails. Bed was super old and bouncy, carpet disgusting and dirty. Top it off with a power outage, no lights in halls or stairwells, very dangerous. Didnt even offer free coffee in the morning to go with the clogged toilets and no running water. The restaurant was super expensive, must be their big money maker. Tried getting a different room but they said they were full up. Seriously run the other way!!!

There was no wifi available in the property. We cannot even get signals through out phone. Bathroom was really old and filthy. Bathroom was stained and dirty. The place needs alot of upgrades. The beds and pillows were soft and comfortable.

Nice scenery of the mountains and enjoyed buying the crystal jewelry from the lady outside the property. Our room had lots of pet hair on the floor and chairs in the room, we didn’t take a pet with us. The bed was very uncomfortable, lumpy & hard. The room a/c would blow warm after a while of being on. Decor is a bit out dated and holes in the couches in the lobby. The lobby women’s restroom was not clean.

The lobby and view from the rooms were beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant fantastic and we enjoyed the entertainment and view. But the cleanliness of the room left much to be desired. There was mold in the bathrooms, filth and dust under the beds, and beer cans and other items left from previous guests. One of the rooms the heater was non-operable. The roll away bed was in no condition to be slept in... having holes and cuts across the mattress. The main beds were on wheels, which would have been fine if they locked, but we couldn't get them to lock so the beds moved when we sat against the headboards to watch tv.

It’s a tranquil retreat among the mountains. However, what marred the visit was the fact that their hotel WiFi is down. And being in such a remote location, our phone mobile data is almost zero and makes it almost impossible to stay connected and do anything in the evening being in a remote location.

I booked the Retreat because it was my first time taking the little kids skiing and coming from Los Angeles, we wanted something nearby to Lee Canyon with the amount of stuff and time to take little kids ready. First impression lobby and restaurant look nostalgic/cute. I booked the King Suite, which was perfect for a family with kids and ton of stuff. Rooms are outdated but didn’t bother us, but it had dusty corners, slow shower likely from mineral deposits in the shower head and the sofa mattress had a stain. We did show the front desk lady quickly the sofa mattress stain and they replaced it quickly. We were tired with kids, didn’t make a big deal. Restaurant was great comfort food! Lobby bathrooms needed more attention and cleanliness.

No elevator. Locked out of room three times. Sluggish wifi. AC that didn't cool. Gaps in the balcony door that were very visible. Warped floor panels. Bathroom tile grout that I'm sure didn't used to be brown. Craters in the parking lot/driveway that they tried to block with cones. This is a place that doesn't have many upgrades and problems in a lot of areas.

It’s just in dire need of a revamp. Even as simple as replacing lamps and remodeling bathrooms would do the place wonders. Staff was really nice. I loved the pet friendly atmosphere. The balconies of the room had great views, fresh air, and a comfortable place to decompress. The food at the restaurant was great. Outside was cool. It’s just a really old hotel that hasn’t had an upgrade for probably 20 years in certain aspects, and in other aspects, probably closer to 50 years.

Pros: Great views, low price, restaurant was nice being how there appears to be very few places to eat at mt Charleston area. Ambience was nice, small store open 24 for food and drink. CONS: Room 301 and other rooms on 3rd floor are not level, and not level by quite a bit. When walked in room you felt the angle of the floor right away. You can tell how bad the room is by looking at the outside door frame at the bottom. Our room could use some care and attention. Overall we were happy with our stay and would probably stay there again but will look for other places before selecting The retreat at mt chalestion

There were a lot of things which were disappointing about it. 1. Ate in the restaurant for breakfast. The omelet was "dry" and the potatoes were "dry." It's like I was eating old food that was lukewarm. And it took longer than it should have even if they made it from scratch. 2. Door key cards took multiple attempts to work and then stopped working entirely. Staff seemed confused by this. 3. Snack store was never staffed, always had to wait around for someone to go find the worker, who then would ask me to wait while they messed around with the cash register for several minutes. 4. There was no info at the front desk about the surrounding area. 5. Poor sound insulation. I was in room 103 and I basically had to stay up until all activity stopped in the lobby. 6. Cranky, tantrumprone baby and its loudmouth yelling mother constantly running back in forth in the hallway on Saturday night, and poor sound insulation doesn't help. 7. Person roped off the exit to the parking lot while three cars were already trying to exit in that direction. Why? Why not wait until we left the parking lot? What purpose did that serve? 8. No room service, shampoo and body wash were in tiny bottles which weren't enough for the two days I was there (and I have short hair and not much of it)> 9. Loud air conditioning shuts on automatically constantly. 10. TV didn't work. Rest assured I won't be back.

First off I want to give 5 stars for the two porters that had to come to our room a few times. They were very friendly and helpful. The front desk however just didn't seem to even want to crack a smile. We were there on New Years Day and I will admit the place was overcrowded and I assume that the workers were exhausted. Bathroom basically needs a deep cleaning. Lots of filth in every crack and crevice that took years to accumulate. We stayed two nights and never got maid service after the first night. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable but the TV was a challenge. Very pet friendly establishment. Overall we were up on the mountain to ski and have fun, and we did. If we come back to Mt Charleston we may look at other options for lodging but wouldn't completely rule out staying at the hotel. We would kind of know what to expect at least.

Checked in online as the hotel suggested. It said all I needed to do was go get my room keys. When I went to the desk to get my keys, the lady asked for a deposit. I had 121 dollars total left in my account, and they charged 100. It said approved on the swipe machine but the lady said it had failed on her end and she needed me to do it again. It was then declined. (This all occurred while she was having a conversation with the manager and crying while the manager kept telling her she would try to get her a raise because she is such a good worker- Their gossip about the hotel being unfair to employees and the girl needing compensation was more important than focusing on an actual customer. They ignored me until I finally said something.) Their internet wasnt working and they wouldn't do anything but continue to say i need to pay the deposit or leave, so I took my daughter up to the top of the parking lot and checked my bank. It showed they had withdrawn the money and it was pending. I went back and showed it to them but they said I would need to pay the fee as it didnt show processed on their end and mine was pending so it didnt count. Clearly they are not educated on how basic banking processes work. I had no more money in my account and became angry they wouldnt let me have my room. They were baffled why i was rude and said they were denying me services. Expedia had to help. I would suggest the cabins on charleston instead. Much nicer than this twilight zone.

Staff was incredibly rude, service was terrible, the property itself is fine but our room was definitely a lot more worn in than we expected from the photos. The hotel restaurant is the only one within like 20 miles and we waited at least 20 minutes for a seat when the restaurant was almost completely empty. The door to our room had a lock that didn’t work correctly and in the middle of the night the hotel staff gave a key to our room to another set of guests who came into our room while we were sleeping. Luckily they were normal and polite people who apologized and left respectfully, but when I called the front desk someone who claimed to be the supervisor and did not provide their name was very rude, did not even apologize for what happened and simply said, we’re working on it and did nothing else. We left shortly after that because we felt unsafe. Easily the worst hotel experience I have ever had.

I went to check in and they said that the reservation was canceled. I had a paid receipt from Expedia that I showed him and they said too bad. I showed him that Expedia had just texted me this email asking how was your check-in. There were people behind me wanting to check in and I said how can somebody check in because you’re full You do have a room for them but you don’t have one for me and she said yes your reservation was canceled. There wasn’t. I calmly asked for the manager. The manager came down found me a room that they have that needed to be cleaned. I will get a room, but it’s been at least a half an hour

Disappointed by Hot Water Issue and Staff Response We have stayed at this lodge twice before with no issues and have always enjoyed the serene mountain setting and cozy accommodations. The Retreat has potential and is clearly in the process of updating its rooms and amenities, which is great to see. However, there are still some issues that need attention. The hallways on the 2nd and 3rd floors have uneven flooring and gaps in the laminate, creating dips and trip hazards that could be unsafe. Beautiful area if you want peace and quiet. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The furniture in the room is a little outdated, but we loved the lobby and being g able to eat at the outside tables with beautiful mountain views. Wild horses outside the property. Will stay here again. By the way be prepared that the temp here is about 30 degrees colder than in downtown las vegas.

Place is charming, but in need of an upgrade. The place does have a restaurant, but if you are looking to dine elsewhere that is about 18 miles away. Bring snack. Plan your trip accordingly, Lee Canyon is about a 30 minute drive.

It is a nice hotel in pure nature with lots of hiking trails away from the Las Vegas strip. I was lucky enough to book here and not in the Westgate hotel. Just went to the Barry Manilow concert at the Westgate, when I came into reception I felt lost and stressed. It takes you 40 minutes from Vegas to the Retreat and it's worth the time. Yes, it's an old hotel but when you look at the mountains, you forget about it. I recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to escape the hustle and bustle of Vegas.

It is a nice hotel in pure nature with lots of hiking trails away from the Las Vegas strip. I was lucky enough to book here and not in the Westgate hotel. Staff was very courteous, helpful, and accommodating. The hotel itself needs work, big pot holes in driveway and parking lot, lobby was dusty , doors in room need repainting , bathroom sink had cracks and no stopper . Electrical outlet in room had no cover, Beds were not that comfortable. Hotel needs landscape maintenance. With some TLC could be a great place , nice escape ,good location to get out of town.

The lodge is attractive and with a bit more concentration on upkeep, it could be stunning. The desk person was very helpful when our room had to be transferred from the third floor to the first. The restaurant area was spacious, atmospheric and aesthetically pleasing. The menu was just varied enough to accommodate different dietary needs, from gluten free to vegetarian. My grilled salmon-$28 was prepared perfectly, not overcooked, with a very tasty vegetable laced sauce that compensated for the lack of a carb (rice, potato, grain) My husband’s burger and onion rings-$22.00, were prepared to his liking as well, but next time we’re ordering the fish and chips that was served at a neighboring table and looked scrumptious. The Old Fashioneds were excellent, a very generous pour, and well balanced, with a luxardo cherry as an added perk, so though they were $16 each they were worth every cent. Our server was very helpful and welcoming which is almost as important as the fare, imo. The room was not overly spacious, but it was comfortable for the two of us, and though the furnishings showed years of wear, everything was clean. We would suggest a couple small improvements, a nightlight or some dimmable light, a cover for the ice bucket, and a microwave. The only real downside was a breakdown in communication in the online service. It sends messages and requests are not shared which made for unnecessary confusion.

The location is great! The property has a lot of deferred maintenance and the restaurant food was very disappointing (breakfast and dinner). Staff are nice and courteous. Rooms are clean.

I had a third floor balcony room in the back of the hotel and the view was beautiful! I slept with my door wide open for the fresh air! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean. It was a fantastic experience that I can’t wait to repeat!

Although an older and more rustic property, it is well maintained. We stay at this property at least once a year and the most recent room we were in had new flooring. The staff is always nice and helpful. There's a restaurant on site that's usually open during limited hours, but they were closed when we checked out during our last visit. When booking, be mindful that there isn't an elevator for general use, but this is a great place to stay if you want to be close to, but out of, the city.

Very clean rooms! That outweighs the dated furniture. Friendly helpful staff. On site restaurant has delicious food and generous portions. The in room refrigerator stores leftovers. Being a 45 min drive from the west metro area is a bonus to get a reprieve from the Valley heat.
