Holiday Inn Express & Suites Carneys Point - Pennsville by IHG

Hotels currently under construction and very loud during the day, so if you are looking for a quiet place, you better wait until the remodel is done.

The property on the outside was worn down and not landscaped or cared for. There were dumpsters overflowing and tractors using up the parking spaces. Upon entry we realized the hotel was under renovation. There were tarps up, the floors were a mess with drywall dust, chipped paint etc. Check in was fast and simple. Although I was concerned l decided to check out the room first. It was very clean. I purchased a king suite and photos showed a kitchenette and separate room with a pullout & living area. We walked into one giant room and no kitchenette. It took until 1am to get sheets for the pullout. So when we discovered spiders the next night, it was late night and we were exhausted so I handled it the best I could so we could just sleep. My daughter woke up with bites, but we were in a hurry to get to her event so we had to pack up and leave. Upon exiting the side door to load our car, we walked through a huge web and a spider landed on my back that my daughter had to kill for me. We were so happy to leave at that point! I wish we were warned ahead of time that the renovations were happening.

The room was clean and updated. The hallways and lobby of the hotel are undergoing renovations but it did not impact our stay. We checked in at 10:15 pm and the staff at the front desk was helpful and efficient.

Door key didn't work three times before I was issued a new room Parking lot is far away from the entrance. Staff didn't care about my points or issuing me a receipt. Printer was broke.

Would have nice to know that the hotel was under construction

The hotel was upfront about being under renovation. But the beds were too soft, the hall carpeting was extensively paint stained, and the power went off for several hours in the middle of the night - and there was no indication that there was battery backup on the smoke detectors. Perhaps as a consequence, some cold items at breakfast were room temp, and so was the second person’s shower. No apologies were offered by the hotel staff in the morning.

This was my first time staying at this Holiday Inn Express and overall I enjoyed my one night stay. I did have a problem though, I booked a suite, which on hotels.com was advertised with a jetted tub, however when they renovated this property, they removed ALL of the jetted tubs. Staff did say they notified hotels.com but it is still listed. It was listed on the hotel website a couple of months ago but has since been updated. I paid extra for a suite, to get a jetted tub, so was upset to find there wasn't one, and I could have booked a regular king room for less. Besides that, check in was quick, staff was friendly, and the hotel looks great with the recent renovations. The parking is a bit strange as there is decent walk from car to elevator. I had room 302, the bed was comfortable, plenty of lighting, room was clean, spacious, fridge was very cold, and no road noise. The shower had excellent water pressure too! Breakfast was wonderful, staff kept it well stocked, lots of choices, and quite filling! I liked the omelettes and pancakes and different types of yogurt! I'd stay again if in the area and would recommend this hotel to others. Just beware there are no jetted tub rooms. It was a good value for a nice renovated Holiday Inn Express!

This was an overnight stay while traveling. Hotel was easy to get to from Interstate. They were remodeling so the common spaces were closed off or cluttered. The room had been redone and was great and spacious. Overall good experience.

The hotel is getting renovated so the bottom floor is nothing to look at and a little dirty, but the third floor was clean, but our bedroom lock was broken. One night stay will be okay, but I wouldn't stay any longer. The staff was very nice.

Very clean room. Breakfast was decent for a hotel breakfast. Staff were pleasant.

The staff was super rude, the hair dryer was broken in our room, there was a thick layer of dust on the lamp, and my husband found mouse poop in one of the beds. I told the woman at the desk and she said, “was there something else?” No apology, no attempt to rectify the situation, nothing. The drawers in the dresser and nightstand don’t close all the way, the ceiling is splitting in the bathroom, and metal in the bathroom was rusting, and the beds were super uncomfortable. I had never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express but had friends who had a great experience so I decided to give it a try. Never again…

Clean, comfortable rooms, great hot breakfast and coffee. Bed was comfortable and the shower was clean with endless hot water.

The hotel lobby and room were dirty. The AC didn’t work properly. The lock on the door was broken. The building was run down.

The hotel was infested with roaches and half dead flies. It smelled terribly of chemicals. The hotel was so dirty, made me feel gross

This property needs a lot of renovations, I have pictures of how nasty and all the fruit flies in the room. Also the smell

Quiet, clean, room was new and fresh. Everything felt clean and in great working order. Good nights sleep and friendly staff.

Clean big and comfortable rooms

Check in was great. Check in girl was a sweetheart. Upon entering room, only issue was a used dirty washcloth hanging above the shower..like why??? Other than that it was convenient.

They did not have any hot tub rooms like i had picked

Very convenient property right off of 1-95. It was clean. My only complaint is that the room was freezing cold- the heat didn’t work

Ad to rent room said jacuzzi tub suite. No jacuzzi tub , only shower.I paid for a jacuzzi tub suite and was extremely disappointed. I have MS and waslooking to soak my aching body after a 5 hr drive

Musty odor in room

Very noisy room and hotel. This is really a bad location and walls are very thin, avoid! Breakfast ok but not very fancy. People are very loud

Clean, modern and convenient!

The reception staff were very friendly & professional, and the lady who ran the breakfast service couldn't be nicer!

The woman at the front desk was amazing and extremely professional. I’m an active duty military member and didn’t even know about the discount. She made sure that she added the discount and was quick about checking me in and out. Definitely will stay there again in the future. Very military friendly and good people

Checking in & had service animal listed in our reservations special instructions. Was refused room because we had a service animal. Hotel requires UNLAWFUL service animal certification. That is against the law under ADA guidelines. I pulled up the ADA guidelines, the desk clerk, Cymia, rolled her eyes. After requesting a manager, she spoke to Manju who was offsite & reiterated no service animals without certification. The HIE guidelines posted throughout the lobby state the two legal questions you can ask someone with a service animal. Cymia could not answer me when I asked her if she knew what 2 questions she could ask pertaining to service animals. She then stated my disability was not a real disability. My wife was in the car with HER service animal when Cymia made that statement. She has no knowledge, nor is she allowed by law, to inquire about my wife’s disability. ADA GUIDELINES state: “1.Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? 2. What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Staff cannot ask about the persons disability, require medical documentation, REQUIRE SPECIAL IDENTIFICATION CARD, or training documentation for the dog or ask that the dog demonstrate its ability to perform the work or task” Have filed complaints with HIE corporate, ADA and BBB. Went to down road& my wife & service animal were welcomed no problem. HIE canceled my room at no charge against their own policy. Why would they not charge me if they were in the right?

Front desk staff at night too busy on her phone to want to help you. Would not stay here based on how bad of an experience I had. Hotel is clean, day staff are also friendly

The check in experience was horrible. The girl at the front desk was extremely rude and seemed purposefully unhelpful. Definitely not someone who should be working a front desk and representing an establishment. In fact multiple people staying at this hotel Mentioned how horrible their check in experience was and how rudely they were treated. She advised they overbooked and therefore I did not receive the double queens I had booked and needed for the family. I booked several weeks in advance and folk who booked day prior were able to get rooms which makes no sense. Girl advised only solution was to cancel my reservation or take room with 1 bed ( although I paid for 2) There was also construction going on and the room was pre- construction in poor- splattered paint and dust everywhere. Did not see this mentioned when booking. The room we received was not only short of a bed but also had a missing/ broken lock. Overall It was a horrible experience and made a note not to book this hotel again even though I travel to the area often.

Great staff

Arrived at 9:30 at night. Waited at the front desk for 15 minutes before anyone showed up to check us in. I even tried calling the front desk phone 3 times. I heard it ringing, but still no one showed up. When the lady finally appeared, she didn't even apologize. The hotel itself was great, but the start of the stay was rough.

New person at check in desk. Had to keep calling FD manager with every check in. With my background in hotel management, someone so inexperienced should not have been on shift alone even though FD manager was a ailable by phone and lived only 3 minutes away

Good on and off the main road close to the NJTP. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Road noise bothered us a bit.

Very clean and convenient to highway

Holiday Inn comea theough again. I love that the brand is reliable. Driving 12 hours and needed a stopping spot. This was perfect. Right off 95. There are limited, almost none, food around the place, but that wasnt my goal. Parking lot was well lit. Front staff was super nice. Bed was comfortable, AC kicking and shower clean. Breakfast options were great. Happily will continue to be a customer.

Great location, close to Tesla supercharger

The property was very clean the room was good size there weren’t very little choices for food close by and the area not sure felt a little sketchy.

I appreciate that you want to provide a breakfast (albeit at a very low cost) but I cannot understand why you do not offer some non-dairy options. There is never an alternative to butter. There is cereal but only cow’s milk. Wheat bread is almost identical to white. No wonder the U.S. has an obesity problem and you are adding to it. Not everyone eats eggs, meat of dairy. We bring our own food (through necessity) and use your toaster. We also have your coffee with our breakfast. Having coffee and using a toaster is hardly giving us good value when paying for the full breakfast.

Room was clean and staff was very friendly. Beds were comfortable. The breakfast buffet had a great selection. We especially loved the pancake conveyor belt!

The breakfast team was an hour and a half late getting the food out. Got us on the road later than we wanted. Otherwise, very nice.
