BEACHFRONT COTTAGE LOWER UNIT

The location is awesome. The unit is old and not kept up to what I would consider a VRBO standard. Portable A/C units did not work and first night was terribly hot. Eventually they came to replace a/c units but then had power issue's. Ended up with extension cords running through out to get A/C and keep power on. I messaged owner over a week prior to arrival to ensure Hot Tub was operational. I was assured it was. Well, it was not and never worked for entire stay. Owner had someone try to fix, but was unsuccessful. The units are a bit out dated and needs some serious TLC, which would involve an investment. The cost for the rental is not in line with others in the same area. This unit should rent for half of what owner has listed. I will say, owner was responsive to all issues encountered, but i felt it was just constant band-aid fixes. Eventually owner agreed to provide a 10% refund for the inconveniences we encountered. Nice gesture, but I feel 25-50% would have been more in line, based on the issues and condition of the units. I feel the listing on Venmo for this rental, does not truly represent what you actually get. Again. Amazing location.

The location is amazing, it is right across the road from the ocean. The outdoor seating and hot tub were perfect.

Really great spot! The rocks right outside the property overlooking the ocean are beautiful and an incredible place to watch the sunset- or watch a seal playing around. Its about a 10 min walk (with a 3 yr old) to the beach. It's not the sandiest beach, but its fun and perfect for kids to explore and play! The hot tub is great to warm up in after a cool day at the beach (we went in March). The owner, Ray, is one of the nicest property owners i've come across on VRBO. Truly helpful and fast to reply. If you forgot snacks- or need a bottle of wine- head up to Wisconsin Market- it is FULL of fun snacks/treats for all ages! Be sure to text Jenny (the host) if you need fresh towels or kids games- or really anything, she's very helpful! Would come here again.

Overall it was a great weekend. However, the hot tub did not function and was not fixed before we left. That was the main reason we chose this property. The owner did communicate and said he placed a maintenance request. There was also a door that did not lock and having children was a concern. The inside looked as if it was unfinished in spots. The price was to high for the issues we noticed.

We had a great stay. The property is perfect for a family or couple on a beach stay. It has a comfortable seating area near the strand with a fire pit to enjoy sunsets. Perfect for beach days!

The photos of the property are an accurate representation of the property in person and were exactly what we were looking for. It is close enough to the pier and main street to walk to places to eat, etc. There is a lot of people watching at the street in front of the property bustles with activity on the weekend. The hot tub was not functioning properly when we were there. The property manager had a service person come to attempt to repair it but they couldn't. After some back and forth about it, we agreed on a partial refund for the lack of a useable hot tub. Aside from that, everything else was in order. We very much enjoyed the sitting area that was near the street to watch the people, waves, and sunset.

Unit was clean and big enough for 4 of us to enjoy time together or quiet if we wanted. Furniture has seen a bit of wear and was mix and match in style which is typical if a rental. But all was comfortable and all linens new and clean. Limited kitchen ware if you are planning on cooking. Asked for a propane tank and it was brought right away. Hot tubs were both working and on - a nice spot on the cool mornings.Great value for location. We would come back again.

Great location! The place is more worn than the pictures provided. If you are a person who needs continuity then this place is not for you…multiple flooring options that can really distract you, but again this is just an aesthetic that can be easily looked over. The major issue was the upstairs unit, handled by management but still the people were extremely disruptive which affected our stay. Parking was tricky. There are 2 clearly marked spots for upper and lower units. When we checked in the people occupying the upper unit were in the lower unit spot. When they left we were able to park in our designated spot, but the next guest parked in front of our car so we couldn’t leave. We had to go upstairs and ask them to move their truck….not a huge deal but maybe if the hosts removed 1/2 hot tubs it could accomodate better parking options as I assume neither of the guests wanted to park right in front of the lower unit. Also, downstairs unit needs better privacy. The curtains downstairs main room don’t cover the door and in the primary bedroom there are some broken blinds that don’t give full privacy. The place is perfectly located and equipped with everything. Mixed reviews were really because of the disruptive guests and parking. Otherwise the place is completely adequate for a beach weekend.

Dirty and rundown, owner had his friend using the upstairs unit for having a birthday party with 30 plus people so we were robbed of using the outdoor space and enjoying the beach. in looking at prior reviews. he has done the same thing to other renters several times

New towels were a plus and at least Bellagio standard room hotel quality—very soft. It felt like home for a few days. The host was friendly and quick to respond to our only call. We’d definitely start here if coming back to Oceanside. The only downers were a dirty hot tub (could have been the dirty guests in the lower unit) and a horde of ants on the deck after a piece of food fell under the table.

Love the location. The unit is a sweet little apartment with beach vibes. It is clean and Ray responded to any needs I had promptly. Have stayed her before and will definitely stay again during my next trip to Oceanside.

We absolutely loved our stay in Oceanside! The place was clean and had everything we needed for a 4 night stay. Our favorite part was hanging out by the fire pit and watching all the action on the Strand and watching the sunset behind the pier. The location for us was perfect. We walked pretty much the entire time we were there. Ray was an amazing host and made sure we had everything we needed and was super responsive getting back to me if I had a question. We loved our stay and will definitely stay again the next time we are in Oceanside!

I usually stay at a nearby timeshare that gets rented out by the owners, but chose this place instead. Very glad I did. Communication was excellent with the owner/management. Waking up and propping myself up in bed and watching the ocean through the front siding glass door was incredible. Plus it has a front porch that we ate several breakfasts and meals. I was happy we stayed here and hope to go back soon. The only issue is that the water heater went out on Sunday afternoon, but it was turned back on early Monday morning. Still a great place.

Loved outside near the water. Needed improved basics inside. Better plate wear, cooking pans, knives, more silverware etc. needed. Main chair broken, coffee maker broken, kitchen faucet loose, etc. Beds and bedding excellent. Shower fun. Not a lot of money just improve the basics.

Great little house on the beach to stay in. Nice to have a great view and nobody to block you. The house floorplan is a little quirky, but very comfortable. Terrific. beds in both rooms. Ray is a terrific host. He actually drove us to a restaurant he thought we would love and we did. We plan on rebooking again.

Overall this was great and we would come back! I do wish there was a little bit more in the kitchen, in way of supplies to cook for my kids.. One sheet pan, some tin foil, etc. I went to the little bodega around the corner and had to buy some foil. The 2 hottubs were open 24-7 which felt a little weird to me.. I closed them for energy efficiency but then they were re-opened by the property owners, so clearly that's how they wanted it. We didn't know if one hottub was for a specific unit (there are two units and two hottubs), so my kids went back and forth between the 2. They loved it, so that's what mattered most. I did try to reach out when we got there because the wifi router/password that was posted was different in two different spots in the house, and then neither worked. I never heard back from the property owners about it, but luckily figured it out on my own. Overall it was great location, and we'd totally stay there again. It felt safe and was exactly what we needed for this trip.

We were scheduled to stay 7 nights in this shared unit. Upon arrival after 3 pm as requested the owner was onsite doing some landscaping, he promptly left but also left behind his mess. The unit overall was clean but left a lot to be desired considering the price point. New guests arrived for the upper unit nearly 40 minutes early, the cleaning lady let them know the unit was not available until 3 pm. They continued to take over the property 45 minutes early, they had 9 people show up and half of them using the hot tub prior to check in time. We were later informed by one of the guests that their buddy owned the property. In reality only 4 of the 9 people had actually rented the unit. The non-guests stayed until dark and were back again at 8 am the following morning. It was completely rude and disrespectful of the owners' friends to be so disruptive of other guests as well as check in times. The upper unit checked out and no cleaning crew arrived that afternoon, giving us the impression there were no new guests checking into the upper unit that day, however the owner did arrive and just appeared to be hanging out while he had the lower unit still occupied. later unknown people were sent by the owner to close the doors he had left open and take out the trash, those people arrived at 8 pm and jumped in the hot tub we had just finished using. then a cleaning crew arrived at 5 am on day 3 of our stay, we checked out on day 3 of 7 of random people being on property at all hours.

The host, Ray, is absolutely amazing. So friendly, communicative and just wanted us to have a relaxing time with our family. The place was perfect for our family. Right on the strand with easy beach access for my whole family. Boogie boards were a huge hit for my 2 teenage sons and our 9 year old. The hot tub was so amazing to jump into after spending the day at the beach. Watching the waves, surfers, and sailboats pass by was so relaxing to watch on our giant patio. We grilled on the outdoor grill with our family and just had an amazing time. Portable a/c kept the place nice and cool during the warm part of the day in July and we slept so well on the comfy beds. Thank you, Ray, for an amazing trip filled with many family memories. We will be back next year for sure!

Was a lovely week at Ray's Bungalow! Enjoyed the ocean view, people watching, sun bathing, bike riding andj long walks. The hot tubs were a special treat along with the shower! Ray was quick to respond when we asked for a couple things. Definitely plan on coming back!

This location was perfect for enjoying the ocean every second. We ate our meals on the balcony and just soaked it all in. It rained during our stay but with the door open and the views from the large windows we didn’t miss out on ocean time. The unit is older but has been well kept. It is a short walk to shops, restaurants and a little store. I will definitely stay in this unit in the future. Ray and Jennifer were extremely helpful and quick to answer any questions.
