Checked in to find that our room was ADA, without a bathtub. We asked for a different room but were told none were available. It would have been nice to know when we reserved the room. We were also disappointed in the so-called ‘continental breakfast’. There were two types of cereal, several bagels, juice, and coffee. I guess we’d gotten spoiled by all the other hotel breakfasts during our trip. That said, the hotel was very comfortable, very clean, had a great bed, and close parking. The staff was very nice, and friendly

The Sandhills Guest House was very clean and the rooms for spacious. The beds were comfortable. The front desk was helpful when we checked in and helped us find a local park for the kids to play. Our only downfall is the room did not have enough towels for 4 people (there were only 2) and when we went to the desk in the morning nobody was working.

This was my first visit to this property. It was the only decent looking hotel in Atkinson. I asked about getting my triple AAA discount upon check-in and was promptly scolded for booking through a third-party agency with that being the reason they would not adjust my rate. They told me I could’ve saved money if I booked directly. I love to bundle my travels on Orbitz so I can track them and am disappointed with properties treat me poorly because they have to pay a commission. The room was extremely clean, even though this is nowhere near a new property. The room they put me in, felt like it had been refreshed and it presented very well. There was an overall mildew smell in the property that many places seem to have when they have been around for decades, but it was not overpowering. The breakfast was disappointing. A true continental experience. The only offerings were various breads to toast or a cold cereal. The peanut butter that I scraped out of a small package, had separated to oil and dried product for the only game in town. When I checked out, the person that came up to help me appeared to be a housekeeper. She struggled with the computer for several minutes and was unable to print a receipt and apologized for not knowing the system very well. I would stay at this property again, simply because the price was reasonable, and it was extremely clean.

We ha ve no complaints. Service and checkin were quick and friendly. Room was clean, staff was very helpful when we had a change in plans and had to alter our time of stay. Will certainly stay here again. Very reasonable rates!

We have stayed at the Sandhills Guest House before and enjoyed our stays both times. The location is perfect for a halfway break on a long trip from Colorado to Minnesota. The motel people are very friendly and helpful.

Although I had business in O’Neill it was worth the drive to Atkinson. My room was very spacious and the recliner was completely relaxing. Added bonus, the coffee shop in Atkinson is open on Sunday.

Although I had business in O’Neill it was worth the drive to Atkinson. My room was very spacious and the recliner was completely relaxing. Added bonus, the coffee shop in Atkinson is open on Sunday.

Very nice place.. just 2 suggestion; 1. The entrance to enter in and out at front doors is very clumsy with a baggage cart…and doors don’t stay open.. can’t you put an automatic opener to press that keeps the door open?? 2. There are 2 pots of coffee sitting out… perhaps you don’t get much call for DECAF coffee, but it sure would have been nice! The person at the desk very nicely said.. you can make decaf in your room… at 6:30 am I really didn’t want to walk back to my room , make coffee, and bring it to breakfast because by then the other member of my party would have been DONE with their breakfast & ready to GO!! It also might help out your local business if you referred people to the great coffee shop just down the street a block that has a wonderful variety of breakfast sandwiches AND DECAF! The breakfast at hotel was pretty meager…. On another note, Sarah was very helpful to tell us about the hiking trails in the area… if you ever have requests, it sure would be helpful to have a map of the town with the Bluebird trail and Cowboy Trails on it!!
