We selected and reserved a room with a river view and were assigned 105. The actual river was not visible from our windows or balcony. That was a little disappointing. The room itself was very nice and well maintained. The food in the 506 Bistro was excellent, both the daily breakfasts and the two dinners we had there. The wings with maple were especially tasty. The staff we engaged were nice. We probably will not visit Woodstock again now that we spent a few days there, but if we did I would stay there again but not pay a premium price for a river view.

The inn is a little run down. The carpet in the first level hallway is in desperate need of replacement, and the downstairs hallway has a very off putting sewer smell. Lastly, the back of the inn, viewed from the expansive lawn in the back, is dirty and the railings need to be painted. On a bright note, some of the staff members were friendly, and the guys that run the restaurant do a really good job. That being said, we would definitely not stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at On the River. The room was large, clean, and very quiet. It's a short, quick drive into town. The staff was pleasant and helpful. A good choice when staying near Woodstock.

I had high hopes for this hotel and was disappointed. The staff was not friendly or helpful, and the beds were hard and the pillows were terrible. My pillow was like trying to sleep on a hard, thick, rubber block. I tried several different pillows, and they were all the same. I resorted to sleeping on my rolled up fleece. I didn't get much sleep and woke up sore. Also, we could not see the river from our "river view."
