This 16th century pub has it all! Clean, spacious rooms, popular British ales and delicious, reasonably priced food. We spent two nights here before walking the Cotswold way and the location was perfect, right in the center of town, yet cozy and quiet. Our room was quaint, and historic but had all the modern conveniences, and the bathroom was the size of a dance hall! The staff were warm and friendly. From check-in to the final good bye, they couldn’t do enough for us!

We only stayed for one night to visit relations very nearby. The guy who checked us in was lovely. We didn't use the pub or restaurant so couldn't comment on them. Our room, bed and bathroom were very big and comfortable on the ground floor with our own entrance from the street. There was no space in the hotel car park as it is very small with only about 4 spaces. We would definitely stay here again.
We only stayed for one night to visit relations very nearby. The guy who checked us in was lovely. We didn't use the pub or restaurant so couldn't comment on them. Our room, bed and bathroom were very big and comfortable on the ground floor with our own entrance from the street. There was no space in the hotel car park as it is very small with only about 4 spaces. We would definitely stay here again.

While waiting for my room to be ready I was disturbed by the foul language between some of the staff members. It really lived up to the whole “Tavern” experience. (Not all staff-some where very nice). The outdoor seating are had dirty ashtrays, butts stubbed out on the raised flower beds and the picnic beach I sat on was VERY unstable. Room was clean. No hair dryer on the entire property. No one answered or returned calls. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Lovely area in the Cotswolds, quirky pub with so much potential, short staffed, wood burner no attempt to create an atmosphere to light it, room bed made up with no linen, no duvet cover, no bed sheets, no pillow cases, no shower floor mat, no hand towels, no amenities, no milk. Lovely quirky room just lacking care and attention. Very disappointed overall such potential for this place

They really don’t have a breakfast service. You order something the night before and pub opens @ 9:00.2nd morning the manager didn’t open up so chef served us out the back door & we ate on patio @ 43 degrees with no coffee because he couldn’t get in the bat. Not one chair in room. No WiFi except in pub. Staff was friendly & helpful.

We stay in the Jethro room. Which was lovely. Would say due to the size of the room and also the bathroom ( with separate shower and claw footed tub !) could almost be classed as an apartment. We are in the red lion on the evening and the food was cooked perfectly. The pub itself is lovely with little nooks, and the garden area is great too. Only thing I would say is the pub did have a chill in the evening and could have benefited from having the fireplaces lite ( which would have also added to the atmosphere) Breakfast in the morning again was done very well very attentive staff. We would definitely stay again

Regrettably, we didn't feel The Red Lion was either good value or a pleasant place to stay. We booked and stayed two nights B&B. The accommodation is what we'd call basic. The breakfast was very poor. The team seemed extremely inexperienced. We felt that The Red Lion is really a drinking pub with accommodation and food as a slightly irritating afterthought. There are plenty of other places to stay in CC for not much more money. Our advice would be to try those first.

The light and shaver socket above the sink didn’t work, the extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work, there was no plug for the sink, the room wasn’t serviced (so no clean cups/bed not remade/ We were disappointed because the bathroom electrical faults were not new and all of these issues outlined were easy to have avoided.

Have stayed here a few years ago, which was lovely, but this time was terrible, the pub itself was dirty and unwelcoming, bins outside were filthy and rubbish in the car park, .Staff tried their best but had no idea what was going on, we did not get in the room until 4.30pm, after looking for the keys, the room was not the one we had booked, but was clean enough,

Went to check in was given a double room not Deluxe Double Room, we paid for the deluxe double room for the use of a bath as unable to use a shower due to disabilities. We also found out in our double room the toilet wasnt working and reported it to reception. The reception told me a plumber would be out to fix between . 4.pm and 5.30 however this was not fixed at all and i had to keep asking . They informed me that it was ok for the night but it wasnt working at all i had to manually fill the cistern up with the shower head . Totally unacceptable.

Room was clean and comfortable, However, the radiator was broken and stuck on max, meaning the room was like a sauna and due to the storm, we couldn’t open the window. We weren’t told breakfast was accessed via the back door and a member of the public had to explain it to us! When we did get in, we were told the kitchen staff hadn’t arrived, even though breakfast was supposed to have stayed 30 minutes before! When we can to check out (our room was outside the main building) all doors were locked. All a bit chaotic.

Room was lovely apart from couldnt turn radiator down as thermostat valve broken. Also breakfast was a disapointment no cereal or fresh food u asked what wanted. I had scrambled egg hardly anything on plate.

We were expecting breakfast at 09.00. No one was to be seen. We tried all doors. Phoned to the number we had . “Someone will come” we were informed. At 09.20 a lady appeared.” We overslept” We needed to leave to meet friends, so no breakfast!!

A pleasant overnight stay, basic accommodation, friendly staff, good breakfast,private function spoilt the stay,music too loud into early hours,Manager Kia was very enthusiastic.

Regrettably, we didn't feel The Red Lion was either good value or a pleasant place to stay. We booked and stayed two nights B&B. The accommodation is what we'd call basic. The breakfast was very poor. The team seemed extremely inexperienced. We felt that The Red Lion is really a drinking pub with accommodation and food as a slightly irritating afterthought. There are plenty of other places to stay in CC for not much more money. Our advice would be to try those first.

This 16th century pub has it all! Clean, spacious rooms, popular British ales and delicious, reasonably priced food. We spent two nights here before walking the Cotswold way and the location was perfect, right in the center of town, yet cozy and quiet. Our room was quaint, and historic but had all the modern conveniences, and the bathroom was the size of a dance hall! The staff were warm and friendly. From check-in to the final good bye, they couldn’t do enough for us!

We only stayed for one night to visit relations very nearby. The guy who checked us in was lovely. We didn't use the pub or restaurant so couldn't comment on them. Our room, bed and bathroom were very big and comfortable on the ground floor with our own entrance from the street. There was no space in the hotel car park as it is very small with only about 4 spaces. We would definitely stay here again.

Ideal start to Cotswolds Way. Nice clean and comfortable room which.despite being on a road junction, was quiet enough to facilitate a good nughts sleep, helped by the secondary double glazing. An earlier breakfast option might have been helpful to facilitate a fuller day of walking

The Expedia App clearly said a full English Breakfast was included with the room, but the staff at the Red Lion said Breakfast was not included. They required that we order the night before, which was fine, but charged me & my friend £15.00 each for a hot breakfast that was minimal at best. Coffee and tea was served at the end of the meal. They ran out of orange juice and water and there were no preserves for the toast. I showed 2 of the staff the statement on the booking page of Expedia for this B& B and they insisted I had to show a receipt with the breakfast itemized. Then after breakfast we found out that the only other couple there for breakfast was not charged for breakfast when the male customer explained that The Expedia App said the Breakfast was included in the booking. He wasn’t charged and we were. This really made me angry, so I did not order breakfast for the 2nd morning that we were there, because we should not have been charged. At the very least we should be refunded the £30. Pounds we paid for the 1st breakfast and given some kind of compensation off the hotel rate for not getting the 2 breakfasts that were suppose to be included with the 2 night hotel stay. Thank You Please do not sell our information for marketing purposes.

This accommodation is very basic. The bathroom, especially the shower, is too small, and the sanitary facilities were malfunctioning. The breakfast was not ready at the agreed time, and we had to knock to be let in. The quality of the food was insufficient and the service was distant. I do not recommend this.

They really don’t have a breakfast service. You order something the night before and pub opens @ 9:00.2nd morning the manager didn’t open up so chef served us out the back door & we ate on patio @ 43 degrees with no coffee because he couldn’t get in the bat. Not one chair in room. No WiFi except in pub. Staff was friendly & helpful.

Room was lovely apart from couldnt turn radiator down as thermostat valve broken. Also breakfast was a disapointment no cereal or fresh food u asked what wanted. I had scrambled egg hardly anything on plate.

We booked this accommodation back in 2025, so to arrive and be given a room in the attic with sloping ceilings, and not being able to stand up straight wasn't good. The bathroom was a make shift cupboard, nice enough, but very dark and cramped with low ceiling. This room is not designed for people to share, it has no head room, no space around the bed and all the sockets are under the eves, so you have to access via your hands and knees - terrible. Bath towels were damp on arrival and the room smelt musty Trying to use the camping kettle was hard and dangerous We did not use the hotel or restaurant

Room was nice and clean and bed comfortable. Handle on the shower door broken! Now the breakfast....I suggest anyone considering it go elsewhere. Avocado on toast was supposed to come with poacheded eggs, Did query with the staff member on duty, was told it didn't come with eggs, but then came with the two missing paoched eggs and an apology stating it did in fact come with eggs aftrrall, but this was only after the toast and avocado which they were supposed to accompany, had already been consumed! Full English was really greasy, barely warm, eggs appeared to have be deep fried, bizarre!! Needless to say, discarded that oddity! Bit of a Fawlty Towers experience on the whole!

Staff very helpful and polite room was very comfortable and clean fire place in our room was huge i will be back winter time around Christmas would be very cozy as we visited in July with temperatures in the 30s but our room was quite 😎 cool
