We got there at 11:15 PM after a 5 hour drive to find out that there were no more rooms with 2 beds despite booking a reservation over a month prior to our trip. Their solution was to switch us from a room with 2 beds, a couch and a full kitchen to a room with just one bed and nothing else, which would not have worked considering that we had 3 people. They made no effort to contact us in advance to tell us our reservation was gone due to a mold problem so bad they had to take rooms out of circulation. It was family weekend at UMD and every hotel was booked and had jacked up rates. We ended up switching to a different hotel further from the college and paid $100 more than their already inflated price.

The staff were all wonderful, helpful and pleasant. The hotel is falling apart, smells like bleach which ch is covering up the smell of mold. The floors have a slimy coating. The mattress is covered in plastic which makes crunching sounds every time you move. The blankets were thin and lightweight as if you had no blanket at all

Just 1 day into my stay, I was napping in my room on Friday afternoon when a pounding on my door startled me awake. I assumed it was housekeeping being aggressive to wake me, but when I opened the door, it was a man in knee pads with a shop vac. He may have told me who he was, but in my surprise to have a stranger at my door, I visually scanned him for a staff badge or any ID, but none was visible. I told the odd-looking gentlemen that I didn't want him in the room. He INSISTED and said "it" would only take 15 minutes. I am not comfortable letting anybody unannounced into my room. So I again told him NO. He didn't offer any identification or explanation of what exactly his business was in my room. After this stranger INSISTED to get into my room a second time (Yes, he actually told me twice, "I insist.") Red flags were going off, and I needed the locked door between him and me quickly for my safety. I told him, "I don't think so" and rapidly closed and locked both locks on the door. Saturday, I approached the front desk and asked if they had anyone scheduled to be working on Friday afternoon at 3pm. They told me no one should have been there. The front desk agent asked what happened. After I told him about the brief but disturbing incident, he informed me not to worry and that he would talk to the manager and review footage if necessary. Comforted, I also told him about a broken lock in the stairwell to the outside. The door is to be locked 24 hours a day. Small pull opens it
