Cheerful and Modern

This stay is a little confusing because you'll end up sharing a room with someone, I thought it was a suite with private washroom and kitchen, but they were shared with another renter which made me leave the place and book a hotel. For the landlord, please make it obvious that you share the amenities with other people.

Property was good and clear . But no access when there's no one to open ,and less parking. Only that

Fantastic experience. Very friendly and accommodating host. We stayed in the 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment. Fully equipped. Super clean. Beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. Clean and bright kitchen. parking available. Perfect for a family or group of friends. I would definitely return and I recommend this to anyone looking for a comfortable stay.

From the posted pictures I had a preconceived idea of the space (thought there was use of a kitchen and living area space). There was a bedroom with desk and comfy chair, tv, microwave, and espresso coffee maker (they provided coffee pods). My own bathroom with shower sink and toilet. Friendly hosts. Responded to messages quickly. Some confusion over what I thought was a parking spot in driveway…sometimes I parked on the road. Overall it was a good spot to stay short term.

I booked one of the basement rooms that attaches to a common area. Quiet, clean, parking was easy and available. It’s a nice newer place. Great place for a quick sleep on a visit to Ottawa or road trip through. It was exactly what was advertised and would come back.

Beautiful suites in a lovely family's home. We had the deluxe with our own bathroom and shared kitchen/living room area but the room has its own TV so if you wanted complete privacy it's just like a standard hotel room. Parking was limited but there was street parking on the adjacent streets and was less than a minutes walk. The neighborhood was also very quiet and safe feeling. Relatively close to everything but Ottawa is a bigger city than I expected so there still was some driving. This was a great place and for the price I think it went way above and beyond expectations. Thank you to the family for hosting.

This place should be removed from Hotels.com, it's a house with a bedroom. This was the worst "hotel" Ive ever stayed in. I did not get an email with the code for the door, had to find the contact number to get ahold of them to say I was there, so I could get inside. Only street parking. Grass pathway, well no pathway to the side of the house. The deluxe room is in a horrible spot. Next to the kitchen, only thing that seperates the hallway to the bedroom and the kitchen is a curtain you can see through. The door has 2 centimeters of space at the bottom, so I could hear them talking in the kitchen and snoring on the couch. Worst stay in years.

Overall, the property was very nice and clean, with a fully equipped kitchenette, bathroom, and living room. Additionally, the owner was quick to respond. There are a few downsides, though. A major one is that the listing on Expedia does not tell you that you share the living space and kitchenette with others. Luckily for me, nobody else was in the room across from mine. Outside the building was very icy due to a rain drain running directly over the walkway. I was in the basement portion of the property, which was quite cold, especially at night.

Lovely basement space with a separate entrance and a large private suite (note that the living space and kitchen are shared with other guests). The suite itself was lovely. The kitchen was a bit tricky to use, as almost all of the dishes were dirty/loaded in the dishwasher. It would be helpful to leave future visitors with instructions about washing their dishes before they leave, as well as instructions for how to use the stovetop (I couldn't figure this out -- fortunately there was a microwave).

Reserved the “Comfort Apartment.” It is the basement of the home. Nowhere in the listing is it identified as a basement. In addition to below grade living, the guests renting the upstairs units woke us up at 5:30 in the morning with foot noise, constantly walking and moving around for almost 3 hours. The remote lock to the back door did not work. Had to park on the street around the corner, as other guests parked in the driveway. Deceptive advertising and overly priced.

I booked a last minute stay with Cheerful and Modern, due to a cancelled flight, and I was pleasantly surprised with the property. Super clean and TONS of space, the host was friendly and very helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

The room is quite dirty and the kitchen. Not even have paper towel, and the lock door is not working.

Very clean beautiful home and room. Quiet suburb and home. I arrived late, they welcomed me and helped me get settled with a hot drink. Great TV and programs.

Enjoyed a very quiet weekend in a beautiful space. Well maintained, clean and met our very nice hosts. We will definitely look at staying again in future if opportunity arises. Highly recommend.

Very nice room, however i wasn’t expecting it to be like an Airbnb with the host living in the home while we were there! The room definitely wasn’t clean, everything was dusty, there were stains/marks all over the wall and on the curtain. The shower could definitely use a good cleaning as well. The host was kind though and it was okay for our short trip down!

Nice and clean. Nicely decorated. I liked the living room and the full kitchen. It felt like being at home.

The place is very clean, tidy and quiet

First of all, this is not a hotel the advertisement is a bit deceiving and it is not a guest house. It was a one bedroom upstairs. The family lived downstairs in an area that was off-limits by a sheet, not even a door. The room itself as you walked in the room I noticed that the smoke alarm was missing the wires were hanging out of the ceiling mount for the detector, the detector was nowhere to be found. The walls definitely need a repaint, scuff marks and dirt all over the place the plug by the door on the right hand side showed evidence of shorting out with a burn marks and some melting on the outlet. The bathroom was clean however it is a jack and Jill bathroom connecting to another room, by the toilet. That Door will not lock and there is no way to lock your door from the bedroom side, so anybody wanting access to your room can just open the door and they are in. The bed was made with one Fitted sheet one top sheet and a very thin Blanket. When I pulled back the blanket, I found long black hairs on the bed for a total of three in the area that I pulled the sheet back in. The room does have a small desk, a decent TV no cable however it does have streaming services. Common areas their kids were running around using that area. I stayed up in the room the whole time kind of felt like a prisoner, but there is a common area with a kitchen television that the kids were using, and they were having dinner in the kitchen.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The hosts were kind and accommodating. It was also very clean and cozy.

We didn't know this place offered these rooms in the basement. It was so noisy at night and early morning. We heard people walk upstairs and make lots of noise before 6 AM. Will not come back here. Such a bad experience.

Very nice bed, the room needs more heat also a place to get hot water and tea bags for those that don’t drink coffe will be nice . Would definitely recommend it’s a nice place in general.

Checkin was seamless and host was responsive. Bathroom was nice.

Do not use this service if you are looking for a last minute place to stay. We booked this place late in the evening needing a place to sleep after driving all day. .I should have read the fine print more clearly. But I also was not contacted by or able to contact the property owners to be able to access the establishment before last checking times. After trying them for quite some time and having to contact the Expedia support. I had to find another place to sleep and they were not willing to reimburse the funds for it. So if you are planning on staying here, just be very weary of a last minute booking.

After payment of CAD130, he insisted that i must make an additional depost of CAD250 right on the premises with a credit card and not even a debit card. Of course i refused since it is an MB&B and not a hotel! I only got CAD52 back after wasting my time and driving almost an hour to the location. I feel robbed...such an action is criminal.

Very responsive and friendly host, will definitely stay again. I was greeted in a very friendly manner when I arrived. The host recommended a couple places to eat and explore during my stay in Ottawa and I was very grateful for that. Very modern furnishing in the house and my room was clean and very well kept. The bathroom was very clean and spacious as well. 10/10 recommend this place.

Host canceled the stay as I got into Ottawa. Could not find anywhere until the next day. Ended up having to roam the streets until I could find a hotel in the rain

Malgré ma réservation, c’est un RBNB… quand je suis arrivé le soir après un long trajet en voiture personne était là… le propriétaire avait un numéro 514 donc probablement de Montréal! Après un très bref appel, ou j’avais de la misère à comprendre on m’a dit qu’il avait une belle chambre pour moi et que quelqu’un viendrais m’ouvrir la porte… après avoir attendu 15-20 minutes dehors et voyant le temps avance, je suis partie ailleurs pour me trouver un hôte… après avoir fait 6(sic) hôtels j’ai finalement pu trouver une chambre à plein prix et tout à à 1 h30 du matin! Franchement Expédia vous devriez faire des vérifications …

I was looking for an area that's had accessibility to places to dine and shops. I don't know how I ended up in a residential zone. I saw pictures of hotel when I booked that place

Received a call from property owner stating that room was unavailable however website states that it was available. Property owner offered to book hotel, but due to the circumstances everything was confirmed. The property owner and myself had resolved the situation as they honoured it. Lovely place, especially for a short layover, close to airport, 30 min drive from city centre.

It was South of Ottawa airport and real quiet. Important to have a mobile phone with enough charge for navigation (to find the place) and for communication with the owner (to let you in). I didn’t realize he lived there, as his phone number had a Montreal regional code. In the end it all worked great.

I had a delightful stay at this Airbnb. The host was warm and welcoming, and the place was impeccably clean, modern, and cozy. The location was perfect, just mins away from great restaurants and local attractions. I highly recommend this property for anyone visiting the area.

Pleasant room in a home to suit my needs. Good workspace, own bathroom, couple of accent lights and bedside table would rate it a little higher. Nothing to walk to, but I wasn't expecting that, everything is about 5-10min drive.

I had the perfect Staycation. And will highly recommend this property. What stood out for me was the cleanliness and quiet safe neighborhood.

Super nice people. Stayed up for my late arrival. Room was cleaner than a hotel. Hand soap was finished tho. Would recommend again. The owner is an amazing chef. The food smelled really good.

This has been a favourite of my partner and Inot; but the service is amazing, breakfast is appreciiatedand we love the cabins. You can close the door and have a fully private, quiet room feeling like you're away from the city.
