The owners are helpful and friendly, the place was quiet, and your vehicle is visible from your room window. Older but clean motel, grocery store in walking distance and a dive bar next door...exactly what we were looking for.

Good room, good air, heat and TV. Great shower. No real complaints. It’s a mom and pop place. Maybe a bit tired, but we could have easily spent a week here. We love the one story, park in front of your room type of place where we can sit outside our door in the evening. Only one long block from Chesters, the only grocery store in town. If they don’t have it you don’t need it!

Good room, good air, heat and TV. Great shower. No real complaints. It’s a mom and pop place. Maybe a bit tired, but we could have easily spent a week here. We love the one story, park in front of your room type of place where we can sit outside our door in the evening. Only one long block from Chesters, the only grocery store in town. Very nice and affordable motel with convenient parking. There’s a guest laundry. We didn’t use it but appreciate the convenience. The rooms are nice sized and the beds are clean and comfortable. The plumbing was a bit noisy but everything worked. The wifi was excellent. There’s a nice coffeemaker and I was given a hairdryer when I requested it. The manager was helpful and friendly. This motel is not the ritz but it’s a great value for the price. I would stay here again.

We were real happy with our stay. The only other vacancy in town had bumped their rates up to $299.!!!, that's not happening... The Budget 8 was clean, we were able to conveniently park right in front of our room, very reasonable rate, nice family run motel!

Reservations were for 3 adults, after getting to the room only 2 towels, went to front desk 8:30pm doors locked rang door bell with no luck, got back to the room and called front desk from hotel phone no answer. The ice machine broke or didn’t work. We also had a package shipped to the hotel with confirmation that it was delivered but they couldn’t find it.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom sink was slow to drain and the faucet was stiff and difficult to operate –– a minor issue. Overall the motel looked dated with the furnishing having a thrift store look but everything was clean and the stay was pleasant.

The giant room was actually with 2 seperate bedrooms..one of these had no heat, air, or fan. The tub was nasty..The matresss was grey. The tub had a black ring around the rim. This is an old row-style motel, not at all fancy from the outside. But don't let that deter you. The room, while plain, was roomy and exceptionally clean, as was the extra large bathroom. I was frankly impressed.

The giant room was actually with 2 seperate bedrooms..one of these had no heat, air, or fan. The tub was nasty..The matresss was grey. The tub had a black ring around the rim. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Microwave is outdated and did not work properly, their TV system just doesn't work right. Can't watch regular TV. Seems like you need to take your accounts with you to watch anything. Frustrating.

Blew my expectations out of the water. It’s aged, but don’t let that discourage you. It’s clean, quiet and comfortable. Biggest TV I’ve seen in a hotel room and all the channels. Everything functioned the way it was designed. I just can’t say enough good things about it.

This property is older but was still well maintained and clean. The location was easy to get to and was quiet. There is a bbq bar next door and some other restaurants a short drive/reasonable walk (about 1/2 mile) away. The property is managed by a family and was very attentive and friendly. I plan on staying here again next time I am in the area.

The people that works there are friendly and helpful, The place is very out dated and needs a lot of work… There’s a supermarket and gas station near the hotel which was very nice to have..Not many places to eat.. only saw a pizza place near the hotel..so got dinner at the supermarket..the room has a microwave &fridge which was a real plus.

If you are looking for a high dollar hotel, this is not it. That said, I have stayed at the other two.primary hotels in John Day which are about twice the price and they are not two times better. The owners are extremely nice people and kind and the linens and bedding were fresh. The beds are comfortable the shower works well, they have in room coffee, the air conditioning worked well. You will not regret staying here and you can use the extra money in your pocket for doing something fun or buying an extra tank of gas.

If you are looking for a high dollar hotel, this is not it. That said, I have stayed at the other two.primary hotels in John Day which are about twice the price and they are not two times better. The owners are extremely nice people and kind and the linens and bedding were fresh. The beds are comfortable the shower works well, they have in room coffee, the air conditioning worked well. You will not regret staying here and you can use the extra money in your pocket for doing something fun or buying an extra tank of gas.

Some of the furniture is a bit outdated (towels were a bit thin, and not very plentiful), but was clean. The staff were nice & welcoming, the mattresses were comfortable, and we had everything we needed! Its also in a pretty quiet location with a restaurant/bar and a bowling alley next door.
