Quinta De Casaldronho Wine Hotel

The hotel was in a remote area but had beautiful views and was worth the effort. The swimming pool was a welcome addition as it was very hot when we arrived. The dinner and breakfast were good. There seemed to be a problem with the doors to the rooms which people kept banging to get them to close. Added to that someone managed to open our door when we were almost asleep and the hotel dog ran into our room. Very disconcerting and not condusive to a good nights sleep.

This was an excellent place to stay. Although the menu choices were limited (2 each of starter, main and dessert) we thought that was wholly understandable given the hotel was catering for around 20 - 25 people per day. The food was beautifully cooked. The rooftop pool was a great place to unwind (with the happy hour drinks between 5 and 7pm) before heading to the restaurant. We found the room to be comfortable and clean (and kept that way during our 5 nights there. Initially, we found the access a little challenging (down a small cobbled track for about 500 - 600 metres) and perhaps more precision about getting there would be beneficial.

Fomos final de outubro, clima bem agradável, porém impossível de utilizar qualquer área externa. O hotel fica muito alto, venta bastante, a piscina é apenas decorativa. O hotel é muito aconchegante. O acesso uma parte da estrada é tensa, só passa um carro, da medo de encontrar um vindo em sentido contrário, quem dá ré? complicado.

Fint hotel, smukt beliggende. Men som mange andre skriver er der mange højspændingsledninger i området. Der er dog ingen summen eller larm fra dem. Fint lille pool som ikke er overrendt af mennesker. Alt i alt udmærket.

Hôtel moderne et propre au milieu de vignes. Bon déjeuner inclus. Service professionnel, généreux et personnalisé. Piscine froide et malpropre. Route étroite, sinueuse, en petites pierres et en montagne. Alors, impressionnante pour ceux non habitué à ce genre de routes.

God mad, vin og betjening. Dejligt poolområde.

Quinta muito linda e quarto confortável; atendimento perfeito; ótima área externa com piscina; excelente pequeno-almoço. Recomendo e voltarei.

The majority of staff were friendly, courteous and happy, which makes a real difference to the stay. The room, including bathroom were small, but clean. One of the reasons we booked this hotel, was the description on the hotel's website 'of privileged views of the Douro River and valley'. There is no view of the Douro River and the view of the valley is completely spoilt by the numerous electricity pylons and high voltage cables. The hotel is surrounded by them! The swimming pool, while nice, is really a large plunge pool. Access to the hotel is not great, as it is single track, requiring someone to reverse and find a place where you can pass if meeting another vehicle. We had two evening meals in the restaurant which we really enjoyed. Breakfasts were also good. It is not a bad hotel, but should be more honest about its surroundings and facilities, so guests are not disappointed.

Friendly staff, nice but small pool on roof terrace. Rooms and bed was OK, though our friends found lots of small ants in their room (probably due to a spillage in the waste basket). The staff handled this promtly, and the problem didn't occure for the rest of the stay. We were two couples and stayed for two nights. Food was OK, but nothing more. Breakfast was lovely and included in the price. We enjoyed our stay here.

Hotel, precisa de um gestor. Propriedade com pouca atenção ao detalhe. 1) Mal chegamos notamos falta de cuidado nas áreas comuns, relva por cortar entre outros 2) ficamos sem agua quenta (deve ser normal acontecer) 3) meias de outro hospede debaixo da nossa cama 4) bichos no quarto 5) Berço da criança com enerme uso. Tem de ir para o lixo 6) restaurante e pequeno ao almoço limitado. Quer vinho branco ? Não pense que pode escolher o vinho so ha 1

O frigobar não estava funcionando, mas trocaram prontamente por outro. Tivemos problemas com a limpeza do quarto, e e nos acomodaram em um quarto superior.

Prachtig gelegen hotel, heerlijk ontbijt, schitterend uitzicht, moderne uitstraling, makkelijk parkeren. Maar ontzettend kleine kamer, niet eens ruimte om fatsoenlijk een koffer neer te zetten. de kamer / het hotel moet wel onderhouden worden. Op diverse plekken is onderhoud nodig zoals loszittend behang in de kamer, flinke beschadigingen aan het schilderwerk etc. Verder vonden wij het teleurstellend ondanks dat dit een "wineHotel" is dat er geen wijn gerelateerde activiteiten waren (zoals wijnproeverij of rondleiding door wijngaard en wijnmakerij). Tot slot matige/slechte wifi verbinding in de kamer. Om een beetje fatsoenlijk signaal te krijgen moest je beneden bij de receptie gaan zitten

Bel Hôtel calme, isolé dans les vignes. Belle vue sur les vignes et la vallée du douro. Route pavée et difficile accès un peu pentue par endroit. Route certainement difficile à pratiquer de nuit. Très bon accueil à hôtel, chambre propre. Très bon restaurant pour le soir et petit déjeuner copieux.

Route d’accès très difficile. On nous a donné une chambre qui sentait très mauvais. Après qu’ils soient venus constater ils nous ont donné raison et nous ont changé de chambre. 2e chose, on nous a dit qu’on ne pouvait nous servir le repas du soir avant 20h30, il a fallu insister beaucoup pour souper à 19h30, avec choix de 2 mets principaux à 26 euros chacun. Décevant.

Very good stay over all, with two litlr problems, very small tv and no real shower

Nous avons apprécié notre séjour dans cet hôtel. Les points à améliorer, selon nous : Confort des lits, air climatisé fonctionne pas/peu dans les aires communes (nous étions en sueur lors du souper au restaurant), arrivée non flexible (nous n’avons pas pu chek-in 40 minutes en avance), emplacement très difficile à trouver (nous avons cherché très longtemps). La nourriture au restaurant de l’hôtel est bonne, mais les coûts sont très élevés et comme l’emplacement est reculé, c’est la seule option qui s’offre. Les points positifs : Bel hôtel, propre et intime, belle localisation. Les employés en général sont sympathiques. Belle terrasse. Notre chambre était très grande, nous n’avons pas manqué de place.

Excelente opção em Peso da Régua , hotel charmoso no alto da mão tá há . Quarto limpo , não muito grande mas confortável . Banheiro espaçoso embora Blindex pequeno e molha quando estava no chuveiro. Café da manhã excelente , split funcionando bem . Excelente atendimento . Estava chovendo por isso não usamos a piscina . Mas era muito bonita . Voltaria com certeza

Los precios del restaurante son caros (en relación a los precios habituales en esa zona de Portugal), lo que no fue una sorpresa, porque se puede comprobar en la carta del restaurante. Lo que sí fue una sorpresa fue la calidad y la cantidad de la comida. En nuestro caso, carrilleras de cerdo, correctas de sabor y en cantidad escasa, escasísima según lo habitual en Portugal. Y mero, insípido y mal de textura, y una ración servida ridículamente pequeña según cualquier estándar. Me quejé esa misma tarde a la encargada del hotel, que me dijo que se informaría con el chef y me respondería la mañana siguiente. Eso fue hace más de una semana, y no hemos recibido ninguna explicación. Resumiendo, el hotel bien, el restaurante horrible. In our experience, the quality of the food was from average quality and size scarce (pork cheeks), to bad quality and size ridiculously small (grouper), specially for Portuguese standards. I complained to the person in charge who promised me an answer the next morning. No answer after a week.

This hotel was the highlight of our stay in Portugal. Amazing views and great bed. The room was small but comfortable and the breakfast was good. One thing to note is that the ventilation system is noisy and always on - they said they can’t turn it off. They did manage to make it a bit quieter in our room but that meant we couldn’t use the aircon so we just had a fan heater (which was fine, the room is very well insulated). They could improve signage to the property but if you arrive in the daytime it’s not too bad

The food in the restaurant was very good especially the dessert. Not suitable if you have limited mobility . Good people working such as Henrique , Rita .. really nice and made us as comfortable as possible.

It’s obvious after our stay why this property is much cheaper than some of its peers-you definitely get what you pay for. Some noteworthy info: 1. Check in front desk person was quite rude and uninviting when we checked in 2. Room was fine with the exception of a large crack in the bathroom wall and the light on the porch didn’t turn off which required us to shut curtains fully and not enjoy sunrise 3. Dining experience was pretty atrocious for dinner-it’s clear they are going for “fine dining” with the pricing and style but several elements made it fall below this. The (inside) restaurant was covered in flies and bugs-at the end of the night there were 10 bugs in my wine and no server acknowledged the diners aggressively swatting or covering their food and drink to prevent this. The veal was hammered-extremely over cooked. As others have mentioned the vegetables (though artfully arranged) were clearly canned and disgusting at a time when fresh vegetables were very much in season. The worst and most expensive meal on our trip. 4. The views as others have mentioned were marred by power lines but as we are not a couple that enjoys an off the grid experience and does enjoy the modern convenience of electricity we cannot fault the hotel for this. I would recommend this property strip it back to basics and improve staff training and attitude, address the huge bug/pest problem, and focus on improving the quality of food and less on the artfulness of it.

Lovely underrated Quinta. A little out of the way without a car but well worth travelling to. Accommodating and helpful staff make it feel like you are staying with family.

Mooi hotel boven in de bergen, midden in het Dauro wijngebied. Hotelier is tevens wijnproducent van hele mooie Portugese wijnen, deze kun je ook in hotel proeven en uiteraard kopen. Wij hadden een gratis upgrade naar een zeer mooie suite. Mooie badkamer, loungeruimte en goed bed en balkon. Restaurant met goede dinermogelijkheden. Uitermate vriendelijk personeel die je het zoveel mogelijk naar je zin willen maken. Alles ziet er supernetjes en schoon uit. Absolute aanrader in een mooi en rustig wijngebied. 15 minuten rijden van Lamego en 30 min. Van Pinhao.

La route pour se rendre est très étroite. Hôtel magnifique mais au milieu de nulle part et personnel froid.

The hotel itself was very nice and comfortable. The only minor issue is its location. It is located in the middle of vineyards with stunning views. However, the road to the hotel is very narrow and winding, with only enough space for one car. We had problems on several occasions finding the access road. Once we were familiar with the surroundings it was no problem. There are also limited dining options nearby (the hotel provides dinner, though, but no lunch) so a car is an absolute necessity. Still, I would recommend this hotel for the friendly staff, the great wines on offer, and the amazing views.

The staff were very nice and we enjoyed our room and the grounds. The guests would greatly benefit from better signage at the turn-off on the road as well as along the long drive to the Quinta. Dinner was nice and the breakfast was more than sufficient.

Diese Quinta lohnt jeden Umweg. Die Ausstattung, die Zimmer, der Pool, der Ausblick, der Wein, das Restaurant und die Freundlichkeit des Personals: alles perfekt! Kann man nur empfehlen. Ein Auto ist allesdings unabdingbar.

Die Lage oben auf dem Berg war wunderbar, leider wird das Bild massiv durch die vielen Strommasten gestört. Ohne wäre es der perfekte Ort zum Ausspannen, aber man ist komplett „ umzingelt“ von Elektrizität. Fast schon bedrohlich.

Outstanding wines and great dining Great breakfast which is included

The building is beautiful and it’s set in the most stunning surroundings. You can really relax here. It is out of town but taxis are easy if you don’t have a car and you get the incredible views. Also thought the breakfast was the best and loved our dinners in the restaurant.

This property has the most lovely views of the Douro Valley wine country; superb. The rooms and dining facility are very comfortable, as is the lounge and outdoor pool, on top of the building. Unfortunately, the food was not so great, very bland and a limited menu for dinner (only two choices, neither our favorite) and poorly prepared. That is the main reason for our lower rating for this facility.

face à notre chambre, un pilonne électrique, quelle vue! bravo, sur toutes leurs photos, ils se sont bien foutus de nous. le personnel de table le soir? Comment peut on servir dans une telle tenue? inadmissible, jean, tennis, survêtement, tee shirt, accoudés au comptoir, on boit à la bouteille devant les clients, on utilise le portable . si vous prenez du vin, on ne vous sert pas la même quantité , ni dans la même quantité, suivant le prix: le plus cher le verre est le plus grand et bien garni, le prix inférieur, le verre est plus petit et la quantité inférieure, de ce fait 8.50€ ou, 5 €, c'est pareil, 5 € revient au même tarif que 8.50€. le poulpe servi était ignoble, trop cuit. tout était cher, tout est fait pour vous taxer encore plus tout a été fait à contre sens. la chambre est très bien, mais cette vue, une horreur, vous ne voyez même pas le Douro. La piscine est bien le restaurant est nul, très cher, pas bon, mauvais personnel (surement en école encore) le bâtiment aurait du être placé dans un autre sens pour que les chambre donnent sur la vigne, et non sur les pilonnes. bref évitez de venir je remercie la personne à l'accueil, qui a lui compris les problèmes et nous a fait un geste commercial. mais, vous l'avez compris, ça n'atténue pas ma colère

The whole property was stunning. The hotel rooms were very nice and the views were incredible. The food at the restaurant was delicious. The staff was very nice and helpful.

If you’re looking for a place to escape the crowds of Porto and enjoy the beautiful vineyards, then this is your spot. Spacious rooms, small, but nice bar area and rooftop pool. Their wines are great, and food was very good for dinner (especially the octopus). Breakfast buffet was good, plus they made eggs to order along with fantastic bacon.

The food at the restaurant was good but the dinners were overpriced.
