Sandcastles Ochi I Ocho Rios Jamaica

This place should not be listed on any booking site. Only as air b & b’s. I picked this place because of the location and amenities, Ocean front with a stove and close to bars and restaurants. Unfortunately I was not able to check in at the location. This place is not a resort! No computer and no way to contact or locate your reservation. This information should be listed and noted by Expedia prior to my arrival,So I was stranded in Jamaica on my birthday, out of the country, with no where to stay. An Expedia representative did assist me, in finding a new location. I was so anxious I agreed to the first location. Which meant I didn’t get the stove, beach front, and location to certain restaurants that I had planned my trip around. Did I mention it was my birthday. Ok. I did contact sandcastle the day before to let them know my flight arrives at 5pm, so I wanted to know how to check in. He said, “as long as you’re here by 10pm, you should be fine.”I arrived around 9:40pm. And yes, the young lady at the desk left at 10pm. Which meant I had to go find somewhere else to stay. I ended up staying at Sago Palm, which was a really nice hotel. To this day, 1/28/25, I still haven’t heard anything from sandcastle 6 days after my check in date. I am doing everything in my power to remove this place as a resort location. This should be illegal, it’s definitely scam likely! I’m not saying your experience will be the same, just make sure you get an exact address before you head to Jamaica.

The apartment was clean and neat and loved the proximity to the beach. Close to strip with lots of activities and nightclub!!! The locals were welcoming, I enjoyed interacting with them daily. I will be booking again in the near future.

Quiet, however, since there are no elevators, help with our suitcases would be nice

This property was lovely and within walking distance of supermarkets, shops, the jerk chicken stand, Ocho Rios Jerk, taxi stations - including route taxis were easy to get to (walk) and within a 15 minute drive from the Knutsford (Drax Hall). The cleaning person was easy to reach and personable (Shelly). The property was not waterview (it didn’t say it was) but access to the pool was so easy and access to the beach was easy as well - walk downstairs to the gate and enter. It was also very easy to work with the owner and we greatly enjoyed our stay.

When we arrived at Sandcastle Resort in the evening, we couldn’t see the property well as it was dark. However, in the morning when i opened the curtains, I realized we hadn’t gotten the ocean view room that we booked, instead, we had a view of the parking lot. I spoke with the young woman at the desk and was told she would have to contact the owner and let the owner know the situation and then call us back; she never called back and the owner never called. When we returned to the desk and asked again about our room (no one at the desk answered our calls), we were told the owner didn’t have any ocean view rooms available. I asked it another owner had an ocean view room and what could be done to remedy the situation; I was told there was nothing they could do. On the third day, we asked to have our room cleaned and the housekeeper (who was lovely) said she never received the message so the room wasn’t cleaned. The bottom line is: customer service was lacking, we didn’t get what we paid for and the cleanliness of the premises was less than desired so Expedia found another property for us. It was not the way we wanted to begin our stay in Jamaica. I would not stay at Sandcastle Resort in the future and I would not recommend It.

I have stayed at this location several times. The location is perfect beach access safe. Great for families or groups and couples.

We had a great stay! Shelly was friendly and helpful with anything we needed! The pool area was great to have but spent most of our time on the Beach! Love the area we were situated in! Would definitely recommend to friends and I am looking forward to another visit!!

First the check in process was easy. However, I had to wait to get wifi information which was a bit of an inconvenience as a foreigner trying to stay connected. Upon arrival, the apartment was covered with red ants crawling everywhere. They say it was from the recent rain and they would come to spray. My local boyfriend came to the room and pulled out all the furniture to sweep. He shook the dusty covers from the bed and more ants. We later found that dishes were put away dirty inside the cupboard. The pillows are not clean. The housekeeper said she puts them in the sun but does not wash the pillows. Only puts on clean pillow cases. They were gross with old drool from previous guests. Bring your own pillows! Also, only one set of towels per guest. Would be great to provide extra towels and sheets.

There was no hot water in the unit. No water coming out of the hot water spigot. Mildew on walls in the unit. I was unable to shower and no staff on site up to noon time to fix the problem.

They do not answer calls nor text messages. No housekeeping services at all. Mold on the bathroom ceiling and sink. Missing lightbulbs in every room. Front desk sends messages also withoutaresponse. I will never return.

The place was nice clean neat and the host along with her cleaning lady Shelly was on point! You are staying in the heart of Ochi which I love everyone from the staff on the property were very friendly and helpful. I will stay at this property again

My experience here was very poor we had no room service which I paid for stayed for 6nights and neither one of those days or place was clean I’m very disappointed the housekeeper did a poor job with the cleanliness of the place was not worth leaving any tip hope u guy’s will improve ur service to others

I stay at sandcastle in the pass and it was wonderful The property is too old and dirty, mold in bathroom ceiling and dirt by the window. I stayed in A6 , really needs upgrade and redo.

The property manager was very nice and accomodating. I loved the location in close proximity to the shopping are we walked to do what we wanted to do. We rented a 2 bedroom but received a loft with 1 bedroom. The sheets on the beds in the loft were not clean. When we walked in the space I could smell stale bleach water as if the place was hurried wiped. The stairs on the walk to get to the space were never swept in the 4 days we were there. The same garbage we saw when we arrived were the same garbage we passed when we were leaving, 4 days later. The bedroom air conditioner never worked the 4 days we were there. We never received any cleaning or offer for cleaning for our entire stay. Our food was overtaken by ants on the countertop on our second day. We were charge one price and now I saw an increase in the cost on my credit card. This could have been a great stay if simple accomadations were in place.

Sandcastles is in a great location and is a good property if you are looking for something outside of the typical marble resort. The security staff and gate staff were wonderful and personable. The unit we stayed in was awful (some are privately owned and rented, some are owned and rented by the resort. I don't know which one ours was). The kitchen was terrible, very little in the way of cookware and some of the dishes were cracked and broken. There were no glasses available , just plastic that had seen better days. Not even a sharp knife or pair of scissors available. The twin beds only had a sheet, I had to use one of our towels to cover my kids. This was extra annoying as we only got a couple of towels to begin with, which were never replaced because the room was never cleaned. We requested bath mats but they never came. This property has so much potential, it's too bad that our experience was in apartment D7.

I stayed at the property 11/24 - 27. I have not seen a housekeeper in those 4 days. I had to live with the garbage and dirty linnen. Thank G-d i was alone. The backdoor and windows were closed BUT NOT LOCKED! I didn't realize untill the next day that it was a sliding door. The apartment is on the ground floor. Anyone could have opened the door and window and enter the apartment while i was asleep on Friday night. That is unacceptable!

The rooms are like private apartments, convenient for a short stay. Very clean and friendly staff members. The professionalism was great.

The hotel was fantastic. The room was very small. The face basin pipe only trickled. There was no balcony and tge bathroom was too small.

The entire space needs a complete renovation. Old rusty stove was scared to turn it on.All appliances need upgrading. Bathroom had worn out tiles, rust stained toilet and sink. Living area had wires hanging out of wall. Soace is dark and hloomy. Insufficient lighting throughout. Unable to even apply makeup in bathroom. One light bulb out. No CNN, MSNBC, NO cable. Space should be advertised as ONE bedroom and LOFT .Should not be placed on VRBO UNTIL FULL RENO IS DPNE. THEN IT WILL HE A COZY PLACE TO STAY.

Alles in allem eine sehr schöne Anlage! Ein Wehrmutstropfen für uns war die nicht funktionierende Klimaanlage, die auch in unseren sechs Tagen des Aufenthaltes nicht repariert wurde. Insgesamt aber empfehlenswert!!

Room was comfortable. This was my second time staying here so I kinda knew what to expect. Location is on the ground floor which is nice. Keyless entry and also has housekeeping services. Shower is a little small but all in all room is a great stay for single or 2 people.

Everything was great, didn't like that my room didn't have a bigger couch or a sleeper couch

Over all the settings was average but shower not working properly can’t set a suitable temperature on the water

The apartment had issues: The stove only had 1 of 4 burners that worked call for maintenance and the guy had no clue as to how to fix it and he never came back. There was a leak from under the wall to the next unit. The balcony was rusty and the doors were very worn and hard to close. Front desk service needs work, training or a means of ingo that connects with the online reservation portal. Expedia did not give me the owners name or apartment number when I booked. The property had to research an available unit for me. The cleaning representative that I had was very friendly and made sure I got items of linen and help for the unfixable stove.

However, in the morning when i opened the curtains, I realized we hadn’t gotten the ocean view room that we booked, instead, we had a view of the parking lot. I spoke with the young woman at the desk and was told she would have to contact the owner and let the owner know the situation and then call us back; she never called back and the owner never called. When we returned to the desk and asked again about our room (no one at the desk answered our calls), we were told the owner didn’t have any ocean view rooms available. I asked it another owner had an ocean view room and what could be done to remedy the situation; I was told there was nothing they could do. On the third day, we asked to have our room cleaned and the housekeeper (who was lovely) said she never received the message so the room wasn’t cleaned. The bottom line is: customer service was lacking, we didn’t get what we paid for and the cleanliness of the premises was less than desired so Expedia found another property for us. It was not the way we wanted to begin our stay in Jamaica. I would not stay at Sandcastle Resort in the future and I would not recommend It.

Great location and host was very accomodating

Unable to get any assistance with any needs. Staff was not friendly Needed toilet paper and was told manager would send someone. No one ever came. We had to get t paper from our family member who was staying there. Unacceptable. They never removed dirty towels daily even though we were told they would. Staff not friendly

Staff didn’t have any records of my booking. Then had to contact the owner. Had issues getting the power on in the unit, and had to wait to get the Wi-Fi code some days after. The lock also posed somewhat of a challenge.

The location is great, the buildings are a little bit old and needs repair. The side I stayed on need cleaning attention. should be clean every day. The receptionist and the host needs to be on one accord. The Host is not really hosting and leaves the hosting up the housekeeper. The housekeeper may or maynot know the information of the renter. No one was there to meet or greet us..... the setup needs improvement and can be better.After making a call to the host, the housekeeper came (Shelly) she was pleasant and apologize for coming to settle us in after 8:00PM. If not for the call, she would not have showed up....Not Good......The front desk, PR needs a lot of improvement.

I did not get the room i paid for, i paid more for a 1 bedroom and got a studio. The shower didnt work properly, the toilet didnt work properly, the wifi didnt work and there was no microwave which i need with a toddler. The staff was friendly and helpful The outdoor property was nicely kept

Upon check in we had a few issues however, our property manager Shelly was on top of it! It didn’t seem like an issue at all due to her professionalism and how quickly she resolved the issues, she didn’t just resolve them but improved upon them, she treated us like family. As a Jamaican traveling to Jamaica as a guest it’s one of the few stays we’ve had where we were treated like a true guest by a Jamaican. So I would say if we could give ten stars that what you would have. Thank you Shelly for an excellent, memorable vacation.

Our apartment was clean and nice 👌 fully equipped. I would definitely stay there again. I also liked how everything outside are in close proximity to the property.

The place was centraly located, great value and clean. I didn't like that the room was ready but the owner will not let you access before 3:00pm. I was there with other and they were able to access their room but my wife and I had to sit outside for an hour for no reason.
