Perfect last minute find for a stopover visiting Forest of Dean - Puzzlewood just 4 mins in the car & Sculpture Park 7 mins. Free public car park was a short walk away, which was also where we found a lovely Italian restaurant 'Amici'. Very well organized breakfast menu list provided the night before so your table was all prepared and ready to go at your chosen time from 8am. My poached eggs were perfect! Check out is at 11am giving some time to quickly explore Coleford before leaving - with a kettle & drink sachets in the room, time for a tea before checking out. Staff we're very polite and helpful - I hope there's availability next time we come back to explore more of the Forest.

My shower was cold, the manager did change the shower head, but it remained cold. He did say I could change rooms if I continued to have issues, but as I was only staying a few nights I didn't bother. The parking was not great, and you had to use the local co-op and walk back to the hotel. Not great, returning late at night alone and in the rain. If you want to stay in Coleford, it is central. The manager had only just taken it over so was dealing with a lot of teathing issues, he was very pleasant and helpful.

Checking in was smooth and staff were polite, nice bar, was a shame we couldn’t have breakfast as it didn’t start until 8:45 which is a bit late. The restaurant was closed due to chef being ill which was disappointing but we found a great Italian Amici just up the road. Room was a little tired but I had a good nights sleep so that’s all I needed.

Parking is a short walk away. Not convenient. The room was very nice, clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was cooked beautifully and the lady was so nice and couldn’t do enough for you. Absolutely no where to eat

Room was comfortable and surprisingly quiet. Shower took a long time to drain, which inadvertently encouraged less water usage, and the bathroom door didn’t close properly, but these were minor inconveniences. Also, the car parking facilities are a bit misleading as there are none on site - there are disabled spaces across the road and a free car park around the corner, opposite the police station. Breakfast was good and, despite having to state our requirements the previous evening, staff were very accommodating of changes. There have been negative comments about the hotel on various sites, but these tend to relate to the bar and nightclub, neither of which we used, were physically separated from the hotel accommodation, and didn’t affect us at all.

The Angel hotel is an old pub (coaching inn?) The room decor was in keeping with the style of the building. The bed was comfortable and had tea/coffee in the room. Tv channels limited. The bathroom had a noisy extractor fan and wasnt very well lit. The mirror in the bathroom has a light i couldnt find the switch for and generally too low (unless you're 3ft?). Good water pressure in the shower. Built in 70s style hairdryer- enough said! We had to choose breakfast the night before and tell them what time - fair enough. We both had full English which was ok/average. There was vegetarian alternative and GF bread if needed. Overall an ok stay. No parking but public carpark 5min walk; free after 6pm. Eclectic mix of shops including Co-op and Lidl. Also has small cinema.

Lovely large room with a four poster bed, one comfy chair, a wardrobe and a desk. It was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom had a large shower, hot water arrived quickly and they included a couple of toiletries. Overall it was fine, typical three star accommodation with the bonus of a four poster bed. Breakfast was nice enough, they get you to fill out a form the night before so it was very efficient in the morning. Nice breakfast room.

The rooms was very dated. Marks on walls. Not very clean. Toilet was disgusting and had not been cleaned for a long time. Shower head leaking. Very difficulty to lift button for the shower. Clean linen fortunately. The rooms need a whole revamp. We had breakfast which was ok. Would not recommend.

Understandably for a building of its age it has a few quirks but an insecure ill fitting toilet seat should not be one of them. In addition a soap dish that is directly over the floor so drips onto it and a shower that constantly drips and won't maintain a constant temperature.

No car park. No WELCOME at all. It was as if we were bothering them to stay. Bedroom very clean and bed comfortable. Bathroom okay. Breakfast good. Value for money 7 out of 10. Won’t stay there again.

Room was big and clean, staff were all very friendly and attentive. They made the stay great by going the extra mile and being accommodating for us. Shower was noisy, but still worked fine and didn’t impact the stay. Room was great value and breakfast included, which was very well cooked and a good portion size. 5 stars would recommend.

Arrived at just after 8 on a Friday night after a long drive to be told the kitchen had already closed, so we resorted to eating takeaway on the bed from a nearby restaurant. Bathroom was built into the room and so ventilation wasn't great. Considering we paid £20 more than a superior room at a nearby Hilton was, it wasn't worth the extra money. Location-wise it's great, parking situation wasn't clear so we opted for a P&D car park at a nearby train station Coleford itself is lovely, five minutes drive to Puzzlewood and Monmouth was only a bit further.

Good water pressure in the shower. Built in 70s style hairdryer- enough said! We had to choose breakfast the night before and tell them what time - fair enough. We both had full English which was ok/average. There was vegetarian alternative and GF bread if needed. Overall an ok stay. No parking but public carpark 5min walk; free after 6pm. Eclectic mix of shops including Co-op and Lidl. Also has small cinema.

Nice building, but tired and needed a good, deep clean. Room was very good. Parking arrangements very unsatisfactory and hostess needed lessons in customer communication. The host was a little worse for ware drinkwise

Perfect last minute find for a stopover visiting Forest of Dean - Puzzlewood just 4 mins in the car & Sculpture Park 7 mins. Free public car park was a short walk away, which was also where we found a lovely Italian restaurant 'Amici'. Very well organized breakfast menu list provided the night before so your table was all prepared and ready to go at your chosen time from 8am. My poached eggs were perfect! Check out is at 11am giving some time to quickly explore Coleford before leaving - with a kettle & drink sachets in the room, time for a tea before checking out. My shower was cold, the manager did change the shower head, but it remained cold. He did say I could change rooms if I continued to have issues, but as I was only staying a few nights I didn't bother. Room was big and clean, staff were all very friendly and attentive. They made the stay great by going the extra mile and being accommodating for us. Shower was noisy, but still worked fine and didn’t impact the stay. Room was great value and breakfast included, which was very well cooked and a good portion size. 5 stars would recommend.

No car park. No WELCOME at all. It was as if we were bothering them to stay. Bedroom very clean and bed comfortable. Bathroom okay. Breakfast good. Value for money 7 out of 10. Won’t stay there again.

Arrived at just after 8 on a Friday night after a long drive to be told the kitchen had already closed, so we resorted to eating takeaway on the bed from a nearby restaurant. Bathroom was built into the room and so ventilation wasn't great. Considering we paid £20 more than a superior room at a nearby Hilton was, it wasn't worth the extra money. Location-wise it's great, parking situation wasn't clear so we opted for a P&D car park at a nearby train station Coleford itself is lovely, five minutes drive to Puzzlewood and Monmouth was only a bit further.

Room was comfortable and surprisingly quiet. Shower took a long time to drain, which inadvertently encouraged less water usage, and the bathroom door didn’t close properly, but these were minor inconveniences. Also, the car parking facilities are a bit misleading as there are none on site - there are disabled spaces across the road and a free car park around the corner, opposite the police station. Breakfast was good and, despite having to state our requirements the previous evening, staff were very accommodating of changes. There have been negative comments about the hotel on various sites, but these tend to relate to the bar and nightclub, neither of which we used, were physically separated from the hotel accommodation, and didn’t affect us at all.

The Angel hotel is an old pub (coaching inn?) The room decor was in keeping with the style of the building. The bed was comfortable and had tea/coffee in the room. Tv channels limited. Lovely large room with a four poster bed, one comfy chair, a wardrobe and a desk. It was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom had a large shower, hot water arrived quickly and they included a couple of toiletries. Overall it was fine, typical three star accommodation with the bonus of a four poster bed. Breakfast was nice enough, they get you to fill out a form the night before so it was very efficient in the morning. Nice breakfast room.

Checking in was smooth and staff were polite, nice bar, was a shame we couldn’t have breakfast as it didn’t start until 8:45 which is a bit late. The restaurant was closed due to chef being ill which was disappointing but we found a great Italian Amici just up the road. Room was a little tired but I had a good nights sleep so that’s all I needed.

The property was great value for money and we would happily stay there again. It would be nice for the breakfast to be available a little earlier than 8:30 because on-street parking ended at 9:00. A bath mat was available from reception, but I only knew I needed one when I was in the shower and found it slippery.

Well where do I start, recieved an email the day before stating the kitchen is closed, too late to cancel for free, deliberate ploy so you can't cancel for free, arrived no parking anywhere near hotel , upon entering room no toilet paper, no heating on, carpets that your feet stuck to. The bar area was OK apart from the duty manager who was extremely loud and constantly swore, I will never return.

I was very grateful to have found this hotel during my travels. It is located in the Forest of Dean, a place I had never heard of until I arrived. The beauty of the trees and nature surrounding the area (like many places in the world) resonates with the people. A good reminder for all of us that beauty and kindness is everywhere.

Très bien situé au centre de Coleford, très jolie petite ville hors du temps. Parking gratuit a proximité. Personnel très sympathique et pub traditionnel anglais, pas de restauration mais on peut amener son take away. Chambre familiale très grande avec même un très joli lit à baldaquin Gros bémol : le bar tapas a côté qui est très bruyant jusqu'à tard dans la nuit (musique et gens qui discutent dans la rue a l'arrêt de bus) préjudiciable pour les chambres donnant sur la rue. Car sinon on entend pas du tout le pub de l'hôtel, les propriétaires font en sorte de ne pas gêner les clients et il y a des portes de séparation.
