Lovely well equipped room with a very comfortable bed, pillows etc. This is a park at your room door motel which I prefer. No long hallways. Excellent shower, air conditioning, nice large freezer refrigerator, excellent TV. Also a rear door to a lovely patio with grill available. Quiet location.

remodeled, up-to-date rooms, very nice! deck off the back of the room for relaxing, morning coffee, evening wine. free bicycles to use(and really nice bikes) free passes to the Zoo(close by), if that's your thing.

Great place for the price! Clean, appreciated the mini fridge/freezer, cute back patio with fire pits and grill area. Right next to trails and the old railcar came by. Not far from Duluth canal park at all! We were getting in late so we checked in over the phone. We checked out early so just dropped the key in after hours box. Did not utilize staff or breakfast so can't comment on that.

great big room with a lot of space. loved being next to hiking trails. outdoor area with grills and firepits was great. My daughter said the mattress in the bedroom was very uncomfortable.

Great stay! Hidden little gem. It’s a 5-10 drive from the busier parts of town. There’s a porch and fire pits in the back to relax after a days of adventures. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. The property owner was great too. Will definitely stay here again.

This room was booked almost 30 days in advance with the trip insurance via hotels.com. That being said, upon arrival, the hotel did not have our reservation on file. The gentleman could sense our distress and was very accommodating. Thankfully he had a room available (for 2 nights over MEA weekend). The room was very clean and cozy with soft bedding and coordinating thick bathroom towels. Larger fridge. The shower is a bit on the small side but it had 2 celing heaters. The images do not depict the motel style of the hotel. No popl or hot tub on site. Would recommend as it is a nice cozy place, reasonable with friendly staff.

The owner is the grandson of the original owner that built the property. Free passes to the zoo. Free bike rentals with the trail conveniently located close to the property. When I wanted bottled water the property didn't not have any but the owner gave me two bottles form his personal supply. Recommend staying in one of the upper units.

We stayed three nights. The rooms are quiet and very clean. They offer free firewood if you would like to have a bonfire out back. They offer free charcoal for the grills they have outback under a grill cover. If you would like to go to the zoo they also offer free passes for that. I would recommend this place, unless you are someone who needs a pool and the fancy hotel name. We will stay here again when we are back in Duluth. We also enjoyed the deck off our room. It was great for sitting outside in the evening and for letting our dogs out for their bathroom breaks.

I was pleasantly surprised of the overall condition of the Hotel, for the price. I think we paid just over $100.00 per night. It was more than I expected. The bathroom window was so clean more than once I thought it was open. The bed was very comfortable and the wood deck outside was a good touch.

Excellent value, nice little motel. Full size fridge, microwave, coffee pot in the room. Only minor issue was that previous guest’s dirty clothes had been left behind, squeezed behind the bathroom door. Towels were ten times nicer than the fancy chain hotel we were in the night before. Clean carpets, spotless bathroom, huge TV, even a space heater and small lunch table included. Top notch for an older motel.

Stayed two nights exploring the Duluth area. Room was extremely spacious and clean. Courtyard area was beautiful and relaxing. Jeff was very friendly and helpful! Location is very convenient to local attractions while still being away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas. Would definitely stay again. Just for informational purposes, currently there is no breakfast. Free Zoo passes were offered and bikes are available for loan/rent depending on the type.

The rooms at this property were clean and reasonably spacious for the price. They are a little bit older. They have older traditional keys not electronic keys. The shower was as small as I have ever seen in a hotel room. I did appreciate that there was an apartment size fridge and freezer a bed and a futon in the room.

Staff was welcoming when we checked in. I reported the first day that the air conditioner was broken and it was 77°F and miserable. It was over 89°F outside. When we returned from our day activities it was still hot. We did not sleep the first night due to it being so hot. I called the next day to complain. The owner was gone but the front desk guy came to look at the air conditioner. He was very nice and said he would call the owner to see what they could do about it. I didn’t hear back from either one of them. I waited the last day outside the office for 40 minutes. The office hours stated they opened at 8am. No one showed up until 8:45pm. We were just pulling out because we couldn’t wait any longer. The air conditioner started to work the day we left. It was two hot and restless nights for myself, my mom and 9 year old son. The property was unique. But it was unfortunate that we were so miserable during our stay.

When we returned from our day activities it was still hot. We did not sleep the first night due to it being so hot. I called the next day to complain. The owner was gone but the front desk guy came to look at the air conditioner. He was very nice and said he would call the owner to see what they could do about it. I didn’t hear back from either one of them. I waited the last day outside the office for 40 minutes. The office hours stated they opened at 8am. No one showed up until 8:45pm. We were just pulling out because we couldn’t wait any longer. The air conditioner started to work the day we left. It was two hot and restless nights for myself, my mom and 9 year old son. The property was unique. But it was unfortunate that we were so miserable during our stay.

Staff was welcoming when we checked in. I reported the first day that the air conditioner was broken and it was 77°F and miserable. It was over 89°F outside. This room was booked almost 30 days in advance with the trip insurance via hotels.com. That being said, upon arrival, the hotel did not have our reservation on file. The gentleman could sense our distress and was very accommodating. Thankfully he had a room available (for 2 nights over MEA weekend). The room was very clean and cozy with soft bedding and coordinating thick bathroom towels. Larger fridge. The shower is a bit on the small side but it had 2 celing heaters. The images do not depict the motel style of the hotel. No popl or hot tub on site. Would recommend as it is a nice cozy place, reasonable with friendly staff.

I had a few last minute changes to make regarding my payment method and the staff was very helpful. The room wasn’t fancy and for a multi-night stay I would have upgraded the room. That being said as I was only staying one night it was a clean and comfortable place to sleep.

Stayed two nights exploring the Duluth area. Room was extremely spacious and clean. Courtyard area was beautiful and relaxing. Jeff was very friendly and helpful! Location is very convenient to local attractions while still being away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas. Would definitely stay again. Just for informational purposes, currently there is no breakfast. Free Zoo passes were offered and bikes are available for loan/rent depending on the type.

The Willard Munger Inn was a wonderful place to stay. It had a trail right behind the Inn to walk and see wildlife. The Zoo is across the street. During our stay, a black bear came into the parking lot, tried to cross the street and then disappeared back into the woods. It was amazing! We will definitely be back.

Friendly staff, comfortable stay, right on the trail. it was a treat to meet a member of the Munger family. Willard Munger did great things for conservation and the environment!. He helped lay the groundwork for modern Minnesota environmental policy, emphasizing sustainability and stewardship.

Great place for the price! Clean, appreciated the mini fridge/freezer, cute back patio with fire pits and grill area. Right next to trails and the old railcar came by. Not far from Duluth canal park at all! We were getting in late so we checked in over the phone. We checked out early so just dropped the key in after hours box. Did not utilize staff or breakfast so can't comment on that.

Great stay! Hidden little gem. It’s a 5-10 drive from the busier parts of town. There’s a porch and fire pits in the back to relax after a days of adventures. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. The property owner was great too. Will definitely stay here again.

Loved the nostalgic setting with sufficient updates for modern convenience and comfort. Having the nature trail just outside the door was also wonderful. I was even able to easily extend my stay on short notice.

My husband and i have been staying at William Munger Inn when we are in duluth. We truly enjoy staying here became its a warm welcoming feel plus our pups have stayed here with us too. We love that our fur babies can vacation with us too. The rooms are clean, tidy , comfy, and priced well. Conveniently close to attraction and restaurants. We love supporting small business and William Munger is a great place to stay. Definitely recommended 👌

This property really lived up to its website and reviews. Yes, it is an older motel but Jeff has done a great job of refreshing everything. We LOVED the sparkling clean full size frig, the clean grills with all tools and the fire pits. The charcoal is free as is the firewood. If you are exploring the Duluth area, stay here. Clean, clean, clean and quiet!Also, the Tappa Keg was great! Food so so but prices cheaper than fast food and the staff are wonderful. Easy walk from the motel and $3 Coors Light drafts!

It’s not near anything, small bed and area. No real TV channels, no breakfast as the website said we were told no breakfast because of Covid. Not worth the price.

The rooms are always so clean and they smell clean, the dogs are so fun to hang out with. The place is family owned so there’s pretty almost always someone there to help you, we wished we got to stay there until check out but we had to check our greyhound early and we were able to drop off our key in the key drop and it was so convenient and they dogs are so sweet, I can’t get enough of them. The location of this hotel is perfect, it’s quiet around the area except traffic but eh whatever it’s traffic but you don’t have to deal with any upstairs neighbors and with some rooms you get a little deck it’s so cute I love it, I don’t need a lot to make me happy. This place is affordable for me and it’s close to everywhere I need to get to. Like I said I don’t need a lot to be happy. This place is my home away from home.

Great location for our family, and the outdoor fit pits with wood made for a much better way to spend out evening than inside watching TV. A few minor things could be updated, but the property is being actively maintained and we got everything we asked for. Very pleased how quiet and comfortable our room was. Next time I am in the area, I will happily choose this Inn again!

Our 3 important criteria for a hotel are bed comfort, shower, and cleanliness. The Willard Munger was in a good location and although there was no one at the office, he showed up quickly and was helpful. the hotel was older, but it was clean, the bed was comfortable and the shower was great. Not by any means fancy, but adequate for sure.
