This was a well-known hotel around Montana in its day, the nicest in what was the very wealthy city of Butte. This is the only building we saw in downtown Butte that has been restored. Only two floors have guest rooms (there are additional rooms in the attached motor lodge). Our two-queen bed room actually consisted of two rooms (a bed in each) and an extra half bath. Secure parking (at no additional cost) is provided. This is my second stay at the Finlen in the past year. If you haven't been to Butte, it is easily the most interesting town in Montana. Once known as the "richest hill on Earth," it provides plenty of signs of its once incredible wealth, including many beautiful buildings in the downtown area. If you are after sights, be sure to see the Berkely Pit and the mine tour at the Mining Museum. Anyway, we can highly recommen the Finlen!

They have done a marvelous job of maintaining the historic integrity of ! Old hotel yet integrated modern services. Parking was goid. Checkin was great. We were on the third floor but the elevator was readily available and quick. We always haul more items than we need and they had readily available carts. The room was small but very clean and well kept. Air conditioning is orovide by a floor portabke unit vented rhrough the window which took up more room but was effective. The ceiling fan, which was a nice touch, along with the fan kept the room comfortable. Water pressure was goid and water hot. Although towels were adequate they were not large nor very fluffy. Bed, pillows and linen were asequate. I did appreciate the set up for clock and lightscwhichnorovided lots of plug in very electric devices. Now to the diwn side. There is no mini fridge or microwave in the room. Also there is no restaurant. No pool no fitness center. If you want a unique exoerience in a historic hotel this is a great place. If you want modern coveniences find a chain motel. In our travels we found motel prices higher in Butte. Also I was disappointed in the historic downtown. A lot if beutiful well maintain old building that are unoccupied.

Parking was convenient - right next to the building and free. The lady at the front desk was very nice. But we were disappointed to learn that even though Expedia said our room would have a fridge and microwave, it turned out not to. The lady at the front desk explained that since the hotel is over 100 years old, it's not set up for most rooms to have fridges and microwaves...only 4 of the rooms have it, and they were all occupied so she couldn't switch us to one of those rooms. So, if having a fridge and microwave is a must, I would not advise staying here. Otherwise, it's a fun place to stay if you are looking for a cool historic experience. Also, they do have fridges and microwaves in their sister property motel that is adjacent, but just not in the hotel rooms (other than the 4 rooms that do).

I visit Butte at least twice a year for business and have stayed at the Finlen many times. It is a great place to stay. Very clean and the staff are great. The cavalier lounge is convenient and good restaurants are within walking distance.

Wonderfully renovated 100 year old hotel. Rooms in these hotels are not the biggest, but are perfectly adequate. Good restaurant close by, Sparky's Gasplug. Comfortable bed, happy to have working elevator! Would stay here again, definitely.

I grew up in Butte, but since moved away. I've always wanted to stay at the Finlen; it's a historic Butte landmark! We stayed in the Motor Inn behind the main tower, but the room was very spacious and immaculate. It had a great little vanity desk, a mini fridge, coffee maker, microwave, desk, and lounge chair. My little boy was very excited about it. The man at the desk the morning that we checked out was very friendly, and allowed me to bring the little guy up on the mezzanine to see the hotel, which he was absolutely enamored by! Next time, I will try to book in the tower just for the sake of the view at night, but overall a great experience and stay.

The historic Finlen hotel in uptown Butte was the perfect place to stay on our “historical Butte” weekend. Room was so clean, staff friendly, hotel bar seemed to be a happening place! Really beautiful property overall!

Historic area. The hotel was historic, but old and in need of updating. Very small bathroom you could barely turn around in small room but comfortable bed and it was clean and quiet. We use the fitness room and it was nice to be able to walk through the historic old areas.

Really fun old hotel. We loved wandering around all the areas we could see. Room large, clean and comfortable. Only issue was the little portable a/c unit was under powered so the room couldn’t cool down enough for us on the hot summer night so it was too hot. There was also a loud high school reunion that was loud in our hotel room, but didn’t matter too much for us as we were up late anyway. Was a great experience… just needed better a/c for the room.

If you really enjoy staying in historic hotels, this one is ranks at the top. Hitel is walkable to several different dining & nightlife. Or you can go to the Cavalier Lounge located inside the hotel for a nightcap. Nora, the receptionist was very friendly & welcoming. I would definitely stay here for a much longer visit in the near future.

Initially the check in was very poor, receptionist was the most unwelcoming person we have ever met. Rude and downright obnoxious. After that things improved, the room was excellent, spotless and very comfortable. Other staff members were very polite and helpful. We would definitely stay there again as it’s a fantastic hotel with great history. Brilliant location in the old town. One person couldn’t spoil our trip to this beautiful place. We were disappointed that the bar restaurant was closed on Monday and Tuesday as we were told it’s well worth a visit.

The front desk staff is always very friendly. We had a late check in, with a last minute reservation made from our car on Expedia. We have stayed here before, and had a very pleasant stay then also. It's an old hotel, celebrating its 100th year, and the lobby is so Charming and beautiful. The rooms are kept up nicely and the linens are crisp and clean. It's fun to stay in Old downtown Butte and walk around

We adore the Finlen Hotel! We adore the Finlen Hotel. Sandra and her staff were very friendly and accommodating. Yes, the hotel is old, but that is its charm. (It is also clean.) You can squint and transport yourself back to an earlier time. If time travel is your thing, Butte is your town, and the Finlen is your place. Amazing!

We adore the Finlen Hotel! We adore the Finlen Hotel. Sandra and her staff were very friendly and accommodating. Yes, the hotel is old, but that is its charm. (It is also clean.) You can squint and transport yourself back to an earlier time. If time travel is your thing, Butte is your town, and the Finlen is your place. Amazing!

Staff was amazing. The hotel was beautiful and a great location. Many restaurants and bars close by. The bed was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have slept in. I would definitely stay here again!

Staff needs retraining on ADA policy. Per the ADA: In situations where it is not obvious that the dog is a service animal, staff may ask only two specific questions: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Staff are not allowed to request any documentation for the dog, require that the dog demonstrate its task, or inquire about the nature of the person’s disability. I was asked for paperwork, when I informed the person working the front desk that that’s not a thing, she assured me it was and that they had looked it up, I admittedly was curt (and apologized for that) as someone with a disability this is exhausting to deal with. I actually had planned to have a few drinks and dinner in the restaurant, but felt unwelcome enough I just went to my room. https://www.ada.gov/resources/service-animals-faqs/

Very nice place to stay. Close to downtown, shopping, restaurants, are all in walking distance. The old marble Architecture in the hotel and surrounding buildings make it the focal point of staying. As well as all the old 1800 brick buildings in the area. Great place to stay.

Loved the historic building! Inside and out. Had a bar but was too dark for my taste. No breakfast offered. AC was portable with exhaust through the window, very noisy. Shower and bed excellent. I’d stay again.

If you really enjoy staying in historic hotels, this one is ranks at the top. Hitel is walkable to several different dining & nightlife. Or you can go to the Cavalier Lounge located inside the hotel for a nightcap. Nora, the receptionist was very friendly & welcoming. I would definitely stay here for a much longer visit in the near future.

Initially the check in was very poor, receptionist was the most unwelcoming person we have ever met. Rude and downright obnoxious. After that things improved, the room was excellent, spotless and very comfortable. Other staff members were very polite and helpful. We would definitely stay there again as it’s a fantastic hotel with great history. Brilliant location in the old town. One person couldn’t spoil our trip to this beautiful place. We were disappointed that the bar restaurant was closed on Monday and Tuesday as we were told it’s well worth a visit.

I visit Butte at least twice a year for business and have stayed at the Finlen many times. It is a great place to stay. Very clean and the staff are great. The cavalier lounge is convenient and good restaurants are within walking distance.

Lobby is beautiful but it ends there. Room was dirty, used dirty wash rags left in the shower, black hair all of the walls of the shower. Tv did not work. No central a/c, portable unit was loud and couldn’t cool room. They put us in a room on the /nd floor that faced a wall instead of any room with a view when the hotel was empty. Would never recommend this place

I hope everyone remembers this is a 102 year old hotel and if you're looking for modern amenities and conveniences maybe stay somewhere else. I loved this hotel. The lobby was amazing and the staff friendly. If I'm in Butte, I will definitely be booking again.

Amenities were non-existent. I feel like since there are no convenience stores in the area, the hotel could have at least provided bottled water. There was a vending machine but it was out of water. The hotel bar was not even open during our stay which was disappointing.
