The Cavendish Motel

The photos of the motel did not match the room we reserved for our stay. they say it’s a heated pool which was not true, it was freezing.

Its needs some upkeep. The decking all around seems soft. The pool was dirty. The linens needed replacing. The guy running the breakfast was awesome, so cheerful first thing in the morning. Food was ok, nice to get free breakfast. It was supposed to have laundry facilities but it didn't.

The website said ALL of the rooms in the main building were recently renovated, which was not true. Our room was very old and so was the bed and furniture in it. Also, we were hoping to swim in the pool but it was so cloudy that you couldn't even see to the bottom, so we didn't swim. As well, almost all of the lawn chairs at the pool were ripped and old. It could be a nice motel but needs an upgrade.

Good value in great location. Clean rooms, nice pool, full breakfast included. Only negative would be not very soundproof.

The Cavendish Motel is great for being centrally located and convenient. The staff are very friendly and there is a lovely pool. It’s right next to a gift shop, shaved ice, and a restaurant. There is a Tim’s, gas station, and visitor centre nearby. The only issue was the deck leading to the rooms looked is need of renovation as it had dips.

It is just very outdated. The upstairs balcony was very spongy and didn’t feel safe. Breakfast was very good and the staff is very friendly.

Good location, friendly staff. Great hot breakfast included. Ac worked good. Parking was very cramped. Good for a small car, but not a full size pickup. Pool on site but didn't try it.

I would give it a 6 if I could. The place is spotless and updated. Bed very comfortable. The AC works great. I loved the pool after a long day on the motorcycle. I walked down to the look off (15 minutes) after dinner at the pub next door and took in the sunset. The breakfast staff is highly professional and friendly. In a world of very few good deals left, The Cavendish Motel is exactly that.

This is the only review I've had to make. I booked a 5 day stay in a single occupancy with queen size bed. What I got was a double size bed which I didn't mind since I was traveling alone. I was aware that this was an older facility but was not expecting the odour as I walked into my room. It smelled very musty. Had to air out my room almost every day.The airconditioning unit had a moldy smell coming from it when I turn it on and let it run only too cool down my room before going to bed about 30 min. The bathroom though clean had a wet dirty rag smell every time I took a shower. I can say the breakfast they served was good and breakfast area was clean along with a friendly staff. The pool area was also clean and well maintained This review is not meant to bash on the motel but more to help them make some changes or adjustments to better their facility. Thank you

Cute old motel. However the room seemed like it was cleaned in a rush, and the air conditioner couldn’t be used due to the odd smell it produced.

The motel was very clean, excellent location, pool was very nice and the grounds were well maintained. Breakfast included was good with a variety of choices served by what I believe was the owners.

I don’t think the bed sheets have been washed or replaced. They are so dirty. And the towels are the same, dirty.

We were checked in quickly and efficiently. The walkway on the upper floor was rickety and it doesn’t feel like it would pass any structural integrity inspections. Every towel had a mysterious stain, the beds had hair in them. Not our hair. The pool was warm but the ladder was crooked and didn’t inspire confidence. The kitchen staff were smiley and friendly despite the breakfast being unappetizing. I wish I hadn’t spent over $200/night to sleep here for two nights. But maybe that’s just what it costs to stay in a touristy PEI town in August. Location can’t be beat for activities and beach. I would come back to cavendish in a heartbeat. I would not stay here again.

The check in staff was very friendly, however upon entering the room, it appeared like the bedding had not been changed, due to hair and sand we found in the sheets. We requested a clean sheet set, which they did promptly. However throughout our 8 day stay, there was no housekeeping of the room, only new towels and emptying the trash can. They did not wipe the bathroom sink, no clean the toilet or tub, no sweeping, they did not make the beds, they did not dust/wipe down any surfaces (table/chair). I understand for environmental reasons, one may choose to have this service less often, but given we were there for 7 nights, I think this should have been taken care of. Or if not, then supply us with a broom in the room so we can do it ourselves. This is a hotel next to the beach, expect sand to accumulate over 7 days. Additionally, it was incredibly noisy --the walls are very thin--we were disturbed late into the night (up to 2am) by other guests in the room above us banging and partying and the hotel did nothing about it. Kids were running/pounding their feet back and forth on the veranda by our window early every morning--I understand it's summer family holiday time, but again, the walls are so thin, you can hear everything. The hotel decor is extremely outdated and that itself made us feel icky. The bedspread was likely over 30 years old--and given their lack of cleaning, it left us wondering how gross that bedspread is. Tub was old and yuck.

The rooms look like they were recently renovated, very clean. The breakfast was really good and the chef was very friendly. I would recommend this Motel.

Long outdoor walkway seemed a bit "spongy". Bathroom was very very tight. Lamp did not work. Sheets on one bed were very wrinkled - either not made right or previously used (hope not)

Although conveniently located, room 38 windows didn’t open, and the air conditioning unit filter was filled with dust and mould so didn’t turn it on. Made for an exceedingly hot room.

Was ok. Lots of choice at breakfast. Room was ok - we were in the motel side on 2nd floor. Bathroom was extremely small.

Staff was great. Pullout couch was lumpy

It is a nice motel, in the middle of everything. The only problem is the bad frame is bowed a little so when you're lying down you tends to be drawn into the middle.

The bed was pretty comfortable but the window air conditioner was very loud and the outside light shone in the door window that had shear curtains so those two things combined made for a bad nights sleep.

Facilities were very limited. Bit old type of hotel. Heati g and /A/C was not working properly.

Outdated but clean. Good breakfast. Ok for overnight stay. Except a lot of noise from upper floor if you’re on main. Poor insulation!

There were many small things wrong with this hotel but the limited access to the internet was the most frustrating.

The highlight of our three night stay was our morning greeting at breakfast. His cheer was infectious. Our check-in was great.

Front desk lady was terribly rude, breakfast was basically slop and the room was so terrible.

We were surprised upon arrival that the parking lot was congested. We were told to park at our room 8 but there was a car there. So were told to park in 9 or 10 or even the wheel chair space!? The office staff were not overly friendly or helpful. The two kitchen servers were friendly and lively. It was great to have the included breakfast served to you. Lovely to have Tim’s across the road though! The pool was new and inviting. Our beds were comfy but the room was tired. We didn’t have our beds made up as we are accustomed to as they only roughly pulled up the covers - not freshly washed over the 3 nights we were there. Same with the towels - not neatly folded. For the expensive price of this hotel, I would not recommend it.

This was such a cute and friendly place to stay. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was great and its located central in PEI which makes it a great starting point.

On check-in, office staff informed us all restaurants in Cavendish were closed for the season (it was Oct 6). We were told the nearest places with open restaurants were Charlottetown or Summerside, both about 40 minutes away. However, with a bit of research and talking to the right people, we learned a very good restaurant was open just 10 min away in North Rustico. We had specifically asked about North Rustico, but were told there were no open restaurants there.

Stay was perfect. Comfortable and quiet. Make sure to say hello and tip Leo in the Breakfast Room! He is absolutely amazing. He made our day.

Great place to stay for our time on PEI! Great location for driving to all the sights. Room was comfortable and clean. The gentleman who greets you every morning for breakfast just made our day each morning!! All the staff was friendly, would definitely stay again.

Very convenient location to many activities, very friendly and helpful front desk. Cavendish has a lot to offer and is center of this beautiful island.

Close to everything in the Cavendish area. Then again nothing is that far away in PEI. No complaints good value.

Hot breakfast included. Gas station and Tim Horton's across street. Easy access to sightseeing places. Well located

Super close to green gables which was perfect for us. The staff helped me with my laundry which was so great. Great trails around. Building is a bit older and the highway was a bit loud at night.

It was the best rate that I could find, and the location is excellent. E-scooter rentals were right beside the property, there are a few restaurants very close, and Tim’s right across the road. It’s only a short drive to cavendish beach and all the attractions are just a few minutes away. I recommend it if you haven’t booked ahead and need a place to stay. North Rustico is close by, and worth visiting as well.

The location of this property is convenient for visiting most of the Anne of Green Gables sites.

Great location with access to biking trails and in walking distance to Green Gables site. Most businesses and restaurants in area were closed for the season. Very good breakfast choices.

The breakfast was delicious - eggs, pan fries, sausage, bacon, hot and cold cereal and many choices of hot and cold beverages. The cook/server was phenomenal - pleasant and cheerful.

The AC did not work like it should. I asked someone to look and not sure they did as nothing changed. If weather really hot the room would not be bearable. The room smells musty. Breakfast offered was just okay. Food not very warm but had cold options which were good

The property could definitely use an update. Things are starting to look very run down. Breakfast was not good, food was cold and didn't look very appetizing.

Excellent breakfast.

The property was nice, our room very comfortable, close to The Lost Anchor where we enjoyed a great dinner. Breakfast would have been good if it was hot. We ate close to 8 am and although it appeared the food was over warming trays, none of it was hot. Disappointing.

location is perfect but beds are very high my spouse broke her wrist bed are not made for a person of 5 feet or shorter.for the breakfast it was cold every day

Breakfast was just OK. Potatoes weren't fully cooked and bacon could have been cooked more (for my taste). The man running the breakfast was absolutely delightful with a frindly hello to everyone

I stayed in the motel section. The room was clean enough. Beds were sufficient. The condition of the building was so so. Floors in the room were not in great shape. The exterior walkways for the second floor were not level, they tilted back and forth and went up and down. The free breakfast... terrible. The juice was so watered down it was colored water, and the food was hard to eat. We ended up going out to eat at the Tim Hortons across the street.
