Black Marlin Motel

Great location but showing its age bit expensive for the quality of the accommodation. But very limited motels in Innisfail. Does the job for short stays

Overnight stay small hotel with 10 rooms. The rooms have a double bed however plenty of room for a queen or king bed. Shower press was good but the bathroom needs refreshing and the door wouldn’t close. Fly screen on bathroom window was broken and unable to close window. No hairdryer. The benches and side table are new and look good. Not many places to select from in this location. The lady was very friendly at reception.

Reception was shut on our arrival. No instructions visible as to what to do. No phone number visible. Used hotels.com app to find number to contact owner. Costly phone call as my phone and I are from the UK and obviously having to phone an Australian number. Given a code to open key safe. Motel looks down at heel. Photos show the view from our room and looking into the room. Evidence of damp on ceiling tiles of room. The whole place needs some TLC. When the owner knows reception will not be manned why not message the person coming to stay via the hotels.com app and send the safe code and room number. The room was clean but uninspiring. It was not value for money. I was very close to giving up on the booking and finding somewhere else to stay. Two things going for it: walking distance to the town centre and excellent internet

Was made to wait 40 minutes,after checkin time,, had a look around while waiting ,around pool looked like garbage tip with rubbish old clothes,empty drink and food pavkaging everuwhere,when manager finally turned up said didnt like my attitude and refudef me accomodation said id get a tefund,whicj i have not received

Happy with the accommodation. Great location. Easy walk to the Crown Hotel for dinner. Easy parking in front of the room. Stayed there 2 years ago and I can see the renovations done. Great job. Love how there are signs saying no smoking in side the room or outside the seat area.👍 Value for money.

Not quite sure how this place managed to be listed with hotels.com - what a horrible place. From the moment you drive up to the place with it's delapidated signs and potholed drive, disinterested check-in staff and dated rooms it doesn't inspire confidence. The only plus was that it was clean inside the room - but the bed was old with worn sheets, useless pillows and the whole place left you feeling tacky. Definitely not worth the money to stay here.

I’ll start with the positives. It’s a short list. The fridge was better than I expected. The cooling system worked. The shower was good. Now for the negatives. Check in was from 2pm. No one arrived until 2.10. The line was “someone at our other motel locked herself out of her room “. Having re-read the reviews, this seems to be the standard excuse…I unpacked a little and realised there were no towels in the room. Back to Reception, no one there. I rang the number provided, left a message, no response, waited another ten minutes with a guy trying to check in. I was told “this is the third week in a row they’ve forgotten to put towels in”. The very nice (but overworked or disorganised) manager said she’d deliver them. Meanwhile, I couldn’t log on to the wifi. Back to Reception. It seems it’s a common problem. I was given the management password and it worked okay… An hour later, she came with 2 bath towels, no hand towels. But nowhere to hang them apart from one hook. The bathroom door wouldn’t close. One power point was broken, meaning you could watch tv or boil hot water. And the advertised toaster wasn’t there. I realised at around 9pm, when I was wondering how much I’d paid for this place, that in fact I’d booked a triple room and was given a double. And a double made for one occupant. One bedside lamp. One chair. One serving of sugar. And one dead cockroach on the floor which had probably died of disappointment. Innisfail is nice, but don’t stay there. Stay in Tully.

Could do with a good general clean all around

Vriendelijk personeel kon mijn boeking niet vinden en gelukkig was er nog een kamer beschikbaar. Kamer was klein, bed was smal, maar we konden ons douchen en alles was redelijk schoon.

Property is very old. Bathroom is tiny and dark. Bed is very old and uncomfortable.

There was large gap below our door to the outside where we needed to shove a pillow to feel safe from the critters of Australia. We had no where else to stay as we were exhausted from driving. Would absolutely not recommend unless desperate, as we were.

It was simple & convenient & close for our overstay needs , the owners were helpful and it was quiet and felt safe. Still would be good to have better locks on the door . I suggest a dead lock or chain lock as only had the door knob style handles.

Our room was more of a compartment. Definitely wouldn't sleep 3 comfortably. Gap under the door. A/C takes ages to kick in. Bathroom barely big enough to turn around in. Bed very firm and small. No extra pillows. Items like tissues, bathroom bin, more than one small soap and some bench space would be appreciated. Reception was friendly enough.

Considering I arrived after closing staff were very accommodating. Bit noisy but that stopped around 9pm. Clean but showing signs of age. Smokers directly outside of the room I stayed in.

The lady that was there was so helpful. Our car had broken down and she did everything she could do for us.

From the moment getting out of the cab, the lady and i, just felt more than welcome. Mary-Lou the owner is such a bubbly lovely person, nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend this motel and will definitely stay here in the future.

No reception - delays checking in because no one present. Manager expressed she was there to help but was openly hostile when approached for shampoo & conditioner. Never responded to an enquiry about whether there was an iron available (we were in town for a funeral) probably the most run-down place I’ve ever stayed. Expedia should be ashamed they list their properties
