KEF Guesthouse by Keflavík airport

this guesthouse is in a convenient and good location for the airport with an airport shuttle also! lovely man who took us to the airport. the facilities such as shower and kitchen were good. beds where comfy and rooms big enough. the only downfall was the leather headboards were coming apart and the pillows and bed become covered in leather from this which is uncomfortable and itchy.

Property is clean and room just fine. Only 1 of the three shared bathrooms had a working shower and this wasn’t a new issue by the looks of things. Breakfast was fine for this kind of place and everything was clean. I was literally never able to find a host when arriving or leaving. Also, they would not refund or allow a date change when I realized 10 minutes after booking that I had booked the wrong week. Literally 10 minutes- nope. Boo.

Not enough share bathrooms and toilets for all the guests in the guest house; end up waiting a while when all bathrooms are used. Also shower rooms had no door or curtain that made the whole bathroom floor wet and toilet is next to shower

The property is basic but good. Beds good. Kitchen good. Shared bathrooms. Close to airport. 5 min drive to airport car rental drop off.

Sehr netter, zuvorkommender Inhaber. Zimmer sauber und mit Handtüchern bestückt. Haken, zum Aufhängen der Handtücher, in den drei Bädern und auch im eigenen Zimmer wären wünschenswert. Morgentlicher Shuttleservice optional zubuchbar für ca 25 € für zwei Personen (Frühstück ist dann inklusive). Die Türen knallen sehr laut ins Schloss, wenn man nicht aufpasst. Gemeinschaftsraum sehr nett gestaltet.

The room is adequate and it's nice that you get an in-room sink, but there are not toilets in all rooms. All toilets and showers are together, and there are only 3 of them. It is very likely that they will all be in use at the same time, which is frustrating. It would be nice if there was even just one toilet separately to avoid this issue. They are also wet bathrooms, meaning the shower isn't fully enclosed and water gets everywhere. I found it difficult to figure out how to keep my clothes dry and also not track water everywhere after I got out. They provide a large squeegee for the floor, but it was still a challenge. You have to pay for breakfast separately and quite frankly it's not worth the extra cost. They keep refrigerated things (such as cream cheese, juice, hard boiled eggs, etc) in a cooler, which (at least when I was there) doesn't work, so they sit unrefrigerated for hours. I decided that was too risky and went for the shelf stable breakfast items, but again it wasn't really worth the extra cost. There is a large fridge in the kitchen which I used to keep a couple small items cold while I was there. The rooms themselves are adequate but basic; usually there is a TV in most places, but that was not the case here. It wasn't the end of the world, but worth mentioning. Also, it snowed quite heavily right as I was arriving and just outside the entrance door turned to ice. That was not cleared or salted by the time I left, so it was very slick. Stay in Reykjavik.

Close to the airport (5 min) was nice. But $350+ for a very soft twin bed and a shared bathroom was excessive. And $37 for a shuttle to the airport is also very pricey given it’s only a 5 min drive

Exterior property is a airport parking lot and could use some work, but the rooms are clean and good enough for a short stay. Great airport access.

Hallo, die Küche und der Auftenhaltsraum waren eine große Baustelle. Wir wurden hierüber leider auch nicht im Vorfeld informiert . Beides war leider für uns damit nicht nutzbar. Wir konnten uns deshalb nichts zu essen warm machen. Hatten wir jedoch fest eingeplant. Dies ist aus meiner Sicht eine klare Reduzierung gewenüber dem vereinbarten leistungsumfang. Aus diesem Grund erwarten wir eine Rückerstattung in der Größenordnung von 30 Prozent! Darüberhinaus hatte unser Zimmer auch noch einen reparaturbedürftigen unterschrank. Nicht sehr ansehnlich. The only pro about the Kef guesthouse is the location in proximity to the airport. The parking lot is also an airport car park, so it is hard to find parking. Our room was dirty - hairs all in the sheets and pillows, dirt/dust all over the floor and night stand. The other guests were very noisy through all hours of the night . The curtains are not blackout, so during the summer it was light in the room all night long. Would not recommend it.

Not a very clean place to stay .

Nice guesthouse, close to airport, friendly staff, easy to find, right off main road, breakfast, tidy appearance. Only issue was the smell. The bathrooms smelled like urine, we could smell it in the corridor to the rooms and if bathroom door was left open in room, the smell was overwhelming. The ceiling had mold so the combined odor gave us a sore throat and headache. They were kind enough to offer a late checkout due to afternoon flight but we left early due to the odor, mold and headaches. Maybe a little bleach around the toilets and ceiling would be beneficial. Otherwise, nice staff and room/facilities as expected.

Facility is close to airport , so convenient especially if you have an early morning flight. and family room we stayed in was reasonable good. Otherwise everything else was very average. Bathrooms were very unclean. Parking was cramped and crowded. We did not use kitchen. Fridge was unkept. And rare was not cheap either.

Best part was that it was very close to the airport. Our beds were clean and convenient. We booked room with private bathroom and the bathroom did have an odour, also lacked soap and shampoo which the housekeeping provided on request.

Nice rooms, what you would expect, clean and comfortable. Nice breakfast, plenty of parking, easy access to rooms with a code. Only issue was a strong trine odor and mold. The smell of the bathroom in our room was overwhelming, particularly if the door was open or ajar. Otherwise, nice people and good hotel/guesthouse.

Convent place to stay the day we arrived in Iceland. At first I thought the heated bathroom floor was a really nice amenity . . . Until we tried to sleep. the room was small enough that that heated floor kept the whole room too hot even with the windows open. Closing the bathroom door helped a little, but it would have been better if we could just turn down the heat.

Situé près de l'aéroport, la majorité des clients quittent l'hôtel tôt, durant la nuit, et malheureusement très bruyamment... Si le manque de savoir-vivre des clients n'est pas de la responsabilité des propriétaires, un point d'amélioration serait d'améliorer l'isolation sonore des chambres.

잠만 자고가자는 목적으로 선택한 숙소. 주차장은 장기주차된 차량들로 가득차있고, 방은 너무나 추웠다. 신기하게도 방에 있는 라디에이터는 뜨겁게 돌아가고 있는데 방은 엄청 춥기만 했음. 옷 다 껴입고 잤는데도 추웠음.

The location is very convenient to the KEF international airport. It is about 3 km from the airport. We had a room for four, with a queen bed and two bunk beds for the kids. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean and comfortable, but a little small. We were just there to sleep before our morning flight. The shared bathrooms were clean. It is a car park so there were lots of cars around the building. We did not opt for the breakfast.

We stayed in Family Room #12. When we arrived the blinds were up for all 4 windows with the sun shining in. Normally this would be great, but the room was stifling and only 1 of the windows opened...a measly 6 inches, to let some air in. My entire family felt like they were suffocating all night as we could never cool the room down. To make matters worse there was an awful stench of urine in our private bathroom. I'm going to assume it's from the septic tank but the public bathroom in the hallway next to our room had no such smell. Lastly, this hotel also runs a long-term car parking business. So cars were EVERYWHERE....good luck to the people that were actually staying there to find a spot close to a door to unload their car. The photo of an expansive lot around this hotel that you see on this site is not at all what we encountered.

The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and they had plenty of bathrooms (3) for the number of rooms at the guesthouse. It is a great location if you need a place before an early flight out in the morning.

There isn't a front desk, it's designed as a self check-in property. However, I didn't receive check-in instructions via email so I ended up having to call to find out which room was mine and to get the key code. It is also a busy car park for the nearby airport. So when I arrived there was no where to park. Very noisy in the hallway late at night.

There are better options around. The place is noisy with thin walls and doors. Service was poor...they were supposed to send self check in directions and did not. They didn't provide them when I emailed them directly. I finally got it when I called them on the phone.

Staff was super friendly to talk to throughout Expedia’s messenger/chat. Had an issue with a flight cancellation and ended up not needing to stay here but wanted to leave a review from my interaction nonetheless. Staff had quickly responded and reserved early morning transportation for me to the Airport, with clear instructions. After learning about the cancellation issue, I informed the staff and while I booked a non-refundable room for the night they were very sympathetic to my situation and also were able to quickly confirm the cancellation of the airport transport. I’m certain this would have been a very budget friendly and convenient place to stay for a few hours overnight while awaiting my next travel. Thank you Staff for your patience, professionalism, kindness and quick responses.

We reserved two family rooms to accommodate our large group. When we arrived, one of the rooms was occupied. The staff on hand seemed really confused how that would happen. We were only there one night and they found a couple beds for those that didn’t fit in our one room. However, they refused to accommodate any price changes based on an incorrect narrative that was told by the staff that helped us out in order for the staff to not get in trouble.

The room was small but had the essentials. Bathrooms are communal. Showers are nice. It's everything you would expect from a place that is not super expensive yet has most everything essential. Check in is super convenient. You are sent a room number and lock code. Walk in and find your room. Easy peezy

Our room was switched last minute and we weren't notified so it was a little bit stressful when we couldn't access our room late at night. Luckily the online support was quick and we were able to get the correct check-in information and find our room.

Una persona que estaba afuera porque le pregunté me dio un número para llamar el cual llame y no contestó nadie ese señor entró al lobby y me ayudó. Además cuando compré añadí el desayuno por 37 dólares y no hay desayuno bufete no hay nada! La única y peor experiencia que pasé en mi visita a Iceland

I was only here for an overnight layover, but I was very impressed with the room and property. I arrived into Iceland way too early to check in to the room so I decided to take a taxi from the airport and wait around until I was able to use the emailed code that the hotel sent me to access my room. While I was waiting, the cleaner asked if there was anything she could do for me and when I said I was just waiting to access my room, she immediately got the assigned room ready and let me enter early. I was extremely tired from an international flight and her kindness was extremely appreciated. Just because of the shared bathroom situation, I don't know if this is a place that I would stay in for more than just a couple of days, but for my long overnight layover, it was perfect. They were also able to call me a taxi in the morning which was very helpful. Overall, a good place for a long layover

A fuir, vraiment horrible. Lorsque nous sommes arrivées il n'y avait personne à la réception, nous avons du appeler un centre d'appel pour pouvoir accéder à notre chambre. L'eau de la douche était froide et parfois ne voulait presque pas, on sentant tous les ressorts de la literie, la navette pour l'aéroport est arrivée avec un quart de retard. De plus ça a été la galère pour arriver à la réserver. Le frigo n'était pas accessible à notre horaire de depart

Compact hotel close to airport with sufficient dining area. Its possible to walk to the hotel or take a bus if 20 euros for 5 min taxi drive sounds expensice. Theres good bakery selling donutses nearby. Donuts were the only thing cheaper than in Finland...

I could walk to the nearby Baptist church, but a guesthouse location closer to the airport would have been nice too.

Gut für die letzte Nacht vor dem Abflug. Leider etwas laut durch Straße und Flugzeuge. Vor dem Fenster parken sehr viele Autos.

Nähe zum Flughafen. Gut ausgestattete Küche. Im Bad funktionierte der Entlüfter nicht, wahrscheinlich hat es dadurch im Zimmer geschimmelt (an der Decke und an der Wand, im Familienzimmer). Fenster kann man nur einen Spalt öffnen. Check-in unproblematisch. Genügend Parkplätze vorhanden.

Guesthouse provides a stopover for the airport but little else. Reception isn't necessary as the code to the room is emailed in advance. Location is in a carpark on the edge of town with no local facilities. However, the guesthouse is clean and functional and the beds were comfortable.

The hotel had emailed me the check in code for my rooms the day before since there isn't a front desk attendant. Check in went smoothly. In that email sent they said there was a charge for breakfast. I almost paid that charge but good thing I waited because the breakfast was barely anything. The hot water for the tea was cold. There was only sliced bread that you can toast and some fruit. Definitely not worth paying for. My advise is being good with you because they do have a microwave. The cleaning lady doesn't speak any English but we were able to communicate enough for her to provide a European plug adapter. The one I had did not fit their plugs. But it was quiet. Only 2 other guests I saw but pretty much empty. Room did get warm enough and shower was hot.

The room it self was warm and spacious. Bathroom had underfloor heating and a good shower. Kids loved the bunk bed. However, the kitchen was under refurbishment and as such there was no breakfast service. Our booking had breakfast included and it was a disappointment that we couldn't have one. There was a table with some food in the hallwa, but no dishes other than a couple of teacups and the same milk cartons we noticed the night before. So we didn't risk it.

Close to the airport, main road and Blue Lagoon. It was self check-in and they e-mailed me a code for the door (not key). We used the kitchen for evening meal and there was drone free food in there, left by others. Breakfast was plentiful and included fruit, spreads, cereal and a waffle maker. The room was smart and clean with a sink in it. 3 bathrooms to about 14 rooms and we had no issues. Free off-street parking.

El desayuno fue pésimo. No había de nada. Y estábamos dentro del horario del servicio. Conversamos con los dueños para explicarles la situación y nos ignoraron teniendo que pagar 5.900 ISK a pesar del fatal servicio. Muy poco recomendable.

Upon arrival when entering our room it smelled so disgusting that I had to call to see if the staff had any spray to make the room smell better( someone had just gone to the bathroom) after 29 minutes someone showed up with spray which was nice. There was no communication with the front desk no one to talk to regarding our breakfast we paid $17 per person. There was a sign that breakfast would be served between 5-10. For what we paid for we were disappointed. Their assortment looked as if they had left it overnight as it was very stale and old looking. I have had many continental breakfast but this was so horrible. This place even had a jail cell, no kidding!!! I should’ve taken a picture. This was a disappointing end to our last night in Iceland. I would highly advise anyone who is looking for a room near the airport to look somewhere else. They even had limited parking as they shared the parking with airport parking. Unbelievable!!!!! Stay away from this one!!!
