Hyatt Place Columbia/Downtown/The Vista

Arrived at 3:45pm to check in, but were told our room wasn't ready. Front desk indicated they were short-staffed and so had no idea when our room would be ready. We missed our dinner reservations. Finally, at 5:02pm we were given our room key. Thr room was cool and clean. The staff did the best they could with so many upset guests.

The location is great and the rooms were fine for the most part. We were in town for a concert and booked 2 rooms for our group of 6. When we checked in at 4pm, only 1 room was ready and the other one wasn't ready until almost 6pm! Luckily we had the other room to get ready in or we'd have been late and very upset. Also, neither bathroom door would lock properly and the doors are opaque and don't block out any sound. If you're not super comfortable with everyone in your party, just be aware! Finally, the worst part was that after a late night, the room's alarm clock started blaring at 6am and kept going off at odd intervals. When we met up with our other party, they said their alarm also went off at 6am! We were talking about it in the lobby for breakfast later and 2 more rooms of people overheard and said the same happened to them. No way was that just a coincidence. That coupled with the fact they couldn't get rooms ready for checking time makes me wonder if they're trying to get people up and out the door. Definitely fishy, and extremely rude.

Shampoo and Soap were empty in the shower and the lotion on the countertop was already used. Pretty gross. Breakfast was subpar compared to most but overall wasn’t bad for a quick pit stop on a road trip. Wouldn’t return if staying more than 1 night.
