We were here to see the beauty of the Lake District. Loved taking the recommended walk about the village; so rich and green, lots of wild flowers, stone walls, and old and new homes. The room was perfect: a big bed, roomy shower, with tea, coffee, and water available in the room. The food in the restaurant was great! There’s a pub side too that’s very welcoming with a great selection!

We stayed at the Hare and Hounds following a long motorcycle ride from Aviemore. We stayed in the Barn Annex, which was superb, with separate bathroom, lounge /kitchen, and bedroom. It was a perfect space to relax in after a long ride. We had a fantastic evening meal in the attached pub/ restaurant, and there was a good selection of dishes, wines and local beers to enjoy. There was a great atmosphere and the staff we very friendly. The restaurant was very popular and was fully booked, so I would recommend booking a table at the same time as booking the accommodation. Breakfast was also high quality, and set us up nicely for our return journey to the south of England. From a bikers perspective the carpark, which opposite the pub is gravel and on a slope, so not the easiest to navigate, but the staff allowed us to park on some hatch markings by the bin store, which was flat and made manoeuvring a lot easier. I would definitely stay here again, and look forward to the next opportunity to return

A very friendly place which makes you feel immediately at home. The room was tasteful and so clean. Little touches like fresh milk and "proper" sized mugs in the room were appreciated. Good food and thoughtfully presented with a good choice of wine. Their array of local ales was impressive, sampled and enjoyed. I'd stay here again.

Wonderful two nights staying in the Barn Annexe as we had our dog with us. That Annexe was spotless, spacious and caters to all your needs. This was our forth time staying at the Hare and Hounds in both rooms within the inn and the Barn. The staff are friendly and welcoming and the food was excellent both the variety at breakfast and evening meals. Highly recommended. We’re going back for another visit end of November.
Wonderful two nights staying in the Barn Annexe as we had our dog with us. That Annexe was spotless, spacious and caters to all your needs. Amazing room (Apartment) much better than the photos show. Room was spotless with all amenieties you could possibly need. Super fast internet which was great to keep the children entertained via the provided smart TVwhilst we unpacked etc. Upon arrival we were imediatley greeted and shown to our room. Fantastic!! Excellent food also and staff were very attentive. I highly reccomend and will be booking again. Breakfeast is also huge.

Lovely pub, room was great, clean tidy and a little mini fridge with water and fresh milk. Bed was comfy. Cafetiere provided too. Food was very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We hadn't booked for dinner but they provided a little table for us which was great. I recommend booking a table as it gets very busy. We stayed on a Friday night. Good access to many of the lakes attractions and some good walks nearby. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

The food was delicious, both at dinner and breakfast time. The staff were very pleasant. The room was very comfortable, very clean. It would be useful to be able to choose a lower setting for the bathroom radiator, but every else was perfect. Thank you ☺️

Fabulous! A last minute decision to have a night in the Lake District, led us to find this gem. From the warm welcome on arrival, to the beautiful room, we were smitten! Lovely welcome tray in the room, including chocolate brownies, fresh milk and chilled cans of water in a small fridge. A very comfortable king sized bed, beautiful quality fixtures and fittings and a really lovely bathroom with complimentary bath products. We ate in the pub, excellent, burger a big hit! After a restful nights sleep we enjoyed a generous breakfast, full English! Great location and have already recommended to friends!

We have family in Levens and regularly visit but this was the first time we had stayed at the Hare and Hounds. Our room (Bennett) was lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and the staff friendly and helpful. We didn’t have dinner on this occasion but have eaten here many times before and can highly recommend dining here.

My wife and I stayed here, as it was halfway, en-route to our final destination, Aberdeen. It started very well - comfy room, quiet location and very friendly staff. Had dinner in the restaurant - my medium rare steak was incinerated and virtually inedible. The steak was replaced - much, much better, second time around - disappointing that the kitchen didn't do it right the first time - waste of a rib-eye steak/loss of profit for the pub. This next section is nothing to do with the Hare & Hounds directly. Our car was involved in an incident in the pub car park - some guys had been drinking at pub - they got in their car, smashed into our car and careered over the embankment. Police were involved etc but our car was left immobile - rear quarter smashed and a huge hole in the tyre. We finally crawled into bed, only to find our room was above the kitchen - the ma-hussive kitchen extraction system made sleep impossible until it was shut down at 2330hrs... We spoke with staff and they were most apologetic - mmm, an apology after the fact is useless for the lack of sleep. On a positive note, breakfast was excellent.

Heather the manager was very friendly and welcoming. We got our drinks at the bar and confirmed our stay and we had a lovely evening meal. The room was spacious and comfortable with a shower and bath.It was very quiet.Breakfast in the morning was great and heather made us feel so at home. Definitely would recommend a stay.

A fab stay at the hare and hounds. What a fabulous friendly pub with great helpful staff. Food was fantastic. Our room was spacious, clean and had beautiful views. We will definitely be back and couldn't recommend more to anyone wanting a base to stay for great walks and villages surrounding.

From a bikers perspective the carpark, which opposite the pub is gravel and on a slope, so not the easiest to navigate, but the staff allowed us to park on some hatch markings by the bin store, which was flat and made manoeuvring a lot easier. I would definitely stay here again, and look forward to the next opportunity to return
We stayed at the Hare and Hounds following a long motorcycle ride from Aviemore. We stayed in the Barn Annex, which was superb, with separate bathroom, lounge /kitchen, and bedroom. It was a perfect space to relax in after a long ride. We had a fantastic evening meal in the attached pub/ restaurant, and there was a good selection of dishes, wines and local beers to enjoy. There was a great atmosphere and the staff we very friendly. The restaurant was very popular and was fully booked, so I would recommend booking a table at the same time as booking the accommodation. 1 night stay on a business trip. Lovely country pub with rooms. Warm and friendly welcome from the team. Room was well designed, all the facilities needed, spotlessly clean. Team were flexible with the breakfast arrangements to fit around my timings. I will certainly return.

The staff were amazing as soon as we walked in, they will do their up most to ensure you are satisfied. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, both were really good. Bed was super comfy also. Would stay and and recommend. Thank you

Heather the manager was very friendly and welcoming. We got our drinks at the bar and confirmed our stay and we had a lovely evening meal. The room was spacious and comfortable with a shower and bath.It was very quiet.Breakfast in the morning was great and heather made us feel so at home. Definitely would recommend a stay.

Everything about our stay at the Hare and Hounds was 10/10. From the warm welcome,best welcome book and tray lovely clean bathroom and comfy bed to the excellent breakfast all was faultless. We can't wait to visit again.

A stopover on our way to Scotland - 4 or 5 miles from the M6. A warm welcome in the bar (and the beers) after battling the traffic on the M6 was just what I needed! We shared the fish platter which was great and finished off with a tasty pud. A good night’s sleep and an excellent cooked breakfast completed our night’s stay. All the staff were most helpful and friendly and the pub has lots of character. We shall call in again when travelling north!

Lovely pub, room was great, clean tidy and a little mini fridge with water and fresh milk. Bed was comfy. Cafetiere provided too. Food was very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We hadn't booked for dinner but they provided a little table for us which was great. I recommend booking a table as it gets very busy. We stayed on a Friday night. Good access to many of the lakes attractions and some good walks nearby. Would definitely stay again and recommend.

We love staying here, we have stayed at least four times now, lovely location, excellent rooms, lovely touches provided, fresh coffee, brownies, gorgeous bath house products in the bathroom. Excellent breakfast provided, great homely pub to have a drink and food.

The food was delicious, both at dinner and breakfast time. The staff were very pleasant. The room was very comfortable, very clean. It would be useful to be able to choose a lower setting for the bathroom radiator, but every else was perfect. Thank you ☺️

Excellent breakfast, good quality , well cooked and generous. Comfortable bedroom, soft bed and pillows. Generous bathroom. Generally very well run. Thin loo paper is my only niggle.

Lovely room at the "Local". Clean, comfortable, welcoming. Friendly hepful staff. Food at the restaurant is great... but make a reservation, word has gotten out! Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

The bedroom and bathroom were lovely, the breakfasts amazing, the staff always happy to help and the location just off the A590 was perfect for exploring the whole Lake District. My only rejoinder was that the stairs to the rooms are a little challenging for someone like me who is mobility impaired. Additional banisters and/or handles would greatly help but I managed overall and we were very happy with our stay. Evening meals were exceptional too. I would rank the Hare and Hounds in Levens as being in the top 1% of bed and breakfast inns I have stayed in out of maybe 150 visited in he past 5 years. Thoroughly recommended!

There are not enough stars nor points to give this hotel! It is perfectly placed near the Lakes, but not so close as to be crowded. Our room was lovely, with all the right touches and amenities: great shower, comfy bed, and REAL COFFEE! The included breakfast is fantastic, and do not miss the restaurant (we ate there 3 times in 2 days), as the food is superb! Every staff member we encountered was delightful. We would go out of our way to stay there again!

The hotel is a very short distance from the M6, which makes it an ideal stop over. The accommodation was really comfortable with lovely restaurant and bar facilities. We were made most welcome by all members of staff. Food was well prepared and nicely presented. Will definitely pass details of this place to family and friends.
