Always a great stay in Grand Marais MN! But this particular time the hot tub was out of order (no biggie), and the older guy behind the desk complained both times when I asked him for more pool towels and the day after for one extra bath towel for our 3-night stay.

Property doesn’t have an elevator,they don’t provide housekeeping unless requested. Breakfast was dismal, just breads, cereal or oatmeal in a box. Location was good for my visit, the view from my window overlooking the lake was good.

The front desk person was smiling and helpful and the beds were firm and comfortable. The hot tub was not working and we were looking forward to using it. The facility was in dire need of an upgrade of carpet, doors and trim. The TV did not have any channels, and we didn't bring our Netflx password with us. The shower was the worse and it barely trickled out the water. This Lodge was not worth the $183 price we paid for. It was well past peak leaf viewing season on top of it.

The room was comfortable and the lodge is conveniently located in the heart of Grand Marais. The guest laundry was free to use, although it could have been cleaner and the machines weren't in great shape. Continental breakfast is included.

Clean, spacious room with a nice view. NO ELEVATOR!!! Room needs some repairs…ceiling is falling apart, the a/c is very loud and can’t be run all day per their request. Had 2 blinking lights in our room from detectors, towel rack fell apart, wall outlet covers falling off. Unwelcoming person at check in and check out

The pool and hot tub were nice. But they didn’t have any clean pool towels. We had to turn on the sauna and wait awhile for it to get hot. Our toilet would keep running until we jiggled the handle enough for it to stop. The beds were very hard. It’s a decent hotel and we’ve been staying here for years since I grew up in Grand Marais. It just needs to be updated.

The location is great. Walking distance to the beach, Artists point and several restaurants. Staff was friendly. The hotel itself could use a good cleaning, paint and new carpet. The carpet in our room was very stained. Beds were clean but looked like the sheets and pillowcases were put on haphazardly. Plenty of towels and washcloths and a decent fridge in the room. No screen on a 2 nd story window. Also the exterior doors were generally unlocked. Pool, sauna and hot tub were decent. But again the room, including shower room could use some fresh paint. Made it appear dirty. Overall, it was a bit pricey considering the condition of the facility.

I really wish I could attach pictures. Bay window facing lake superior had black mold and almost all the caulking was gone. Big stains on carpet, micorowave dodnt work. Crowning around base of bathroom door crumbling. I tiny TV 29 inch. Continental breakfast was a joke. For almost $200 a night is a complete Rip off!!

Hotel is old but comfortable. Room was spacious with 2 queen beds, frig, desk, table, dresser, closet. The bed was good. The bathroom was not 100% clean. There was a piece of hair on the floor. Shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, bar soap was provided. Breakfast was bagels, bread, toaster, muffins, oatmeal, cereal, peanut butter, applesauce, orange juice, apple juice. No fruit. There are not a lot of places to stay in this little town, but I would stay here again. The hotel was very quiet and I didn’t see a lot of people. The parking lot was always full, but the people were quiet. Front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance employees were nice. The town and surrounding area is beautiful and wonderful. I did not see a water dispenser anywhere and I don’t drink out of the tap so I had to get bottled water from the store.

Please get rid of the internet-based smart TV, and return to real cable or satellite TV. I realize it's cheaper, but there is nothing worth watching, it buffers constantly, and I'm sure it saps the strength of the hotel wi-fi. Which brings me to the problem of weak wi-fi. I was in room 113, and I'm sure it was worse for me, being at the end of the hotel. But I had to move to the lobby to find stronger wi-fi to get my work done. This is the only negative. Apart from this annoyance, which is fixable, I love staying at the Aspen Inn.

The room was nice & clean but the desk chair fabric was torn in a couple places & foam padding bulging out. We were surprised we could use the side door entry from lower parking area without having to use our room key. Also disappointed no coffee machine in room and lobby/breakfast coffee not available until 7 AM.

Great hotel to stay at in Grand Marais! We loved that we could walk to town. Beds are extremely comfortable. Pool, hot tub, and sauna was a real treat after a long hike. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We especially loved Don, the gentleman who checked us in. He was charming! We would definitely stay there again!

We requested a new room because the room we were put in was dirty and was not cleaned properly. The manager was very rude when we requested a new room. The front desk worker was also very rude. Very poorly managed property . Would not recommend this property to stay at.

Overal very unsatisfactory. Smell of sewage in the hallways was almost intolerable. Breakfast room was disgusting...Too much soap used on floor & shoes squeaked, tables ip against very dirty window ledges & breakfast offered was very poor. Upon checkiut, I returned room key & clerk was using her phone telling Siri to call so & so, she didn't hangup when she saw me, didn't ask how my stay was, didn't thank me, but kept on her phone & gave me a thumbs up as I walked away...She barely acknowledged me & didn't say one word to me. All in all, a very unsatisfactory experience.

It was advertised that the pool room is open from 10am to 10pm, however, we were told by the front desk that it would be closing at 9pm so that he could go home. He was quite grumpy. The whirlpool was closed entirely. The wifi kept disconnecting from the TV as to be unusable. The coffee in the morning was not good. There wasn't any local information about hiking trails in the area. The room itself was clean, quiet, and comfortable and there were plenty of towels, pillows, and blankets.

Great location, easy walk to shopping, the harbor. The decor is stuck in the 1980's, but it was clean. The only thing I didn't like was the electrical outlets were all under a counter or piece of furniture. Not convenient for plugging in our electronics. Not even a USB outlet. People today travel with electronics and would recommend this hotel update their access.

The hotel was a great value! And the value did not sacrifice any great qualities... very clean, convenient, great view of the harbor and light house! Check in and out was easy! And the location is great, so close to everything!

Hotel is old but comfortable. Room was spacious with 2 queen beds, frig, desk, table, dresser, closet. The bed was good. The bathroom was not 100% clean. There was a piece of hair on the floor. Shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, bar soap was provided. Breakfast was bagels, bread, toaster, muffins, oatmeal, cereal, peanut butter, applesauce, orange juice, apple juice. No fruit. There are not a lot of places to stay in this little town, but I would stay here again. The hotel was very quiet and I didn’t see a lot of people. The parking lot was always full, but the people were quiet. Front desk, housekeeping, and maintenance employees were nice. The town and surrounding area is beautiful and wonderful. I did not see a water dispenser anywhere and I don’t drink out of the tap so I had to get bottled water from the store.

Property doesn’t have an elevator,they don’t provide housekeeping unless requested. Breakfast was dismal, just breads, cereal or oatmeal in a box. Location was good for my visit, the view from my window overlooking the lake was good.

Our room was clean, odor free and comfortable. It’s quick and easy to get to the main shopping center and eating spots. The hotel is a bit dated but we would happily stay there again. Disappointed in the overall condition of this hotel. Rugs were dirty in our room, bed mattress was like 20 years old. Our room window was broken with bugs flying inside it. breakfast was nonexistent. Muffins and cold pancakes are not acceptable. Needed hot food. Eggs/sausage etc. not really a fun experience for our time up there.

The available choices for breakfast were dismal at best for the cost of the room. It's already bad enough to drink coffee you're not used to, but this coffee was the worst I've ever tasted. It tasted like the pot had not been cleaned for weeks.

Room carpet extremely old and it’s turned out black with lots of stains. AC is not working. I was asked to open windows when complained the issue. In bath tub water is not draining while showering. Tub is filling up with water while showering as to clogging issues. Staff saying “we are sorry and unfortunately can do nothing “. But room charge was 250$. I never ever recommend this place to anyone

Place looked worn out and tired. I have a bigger tv in my garage than was in my room. Hallway and stairway carpets were dirty and stained, rips in the stair carpeting, Tripping hazard. Rooms were outdated, old sheets and comforters. Continental breakfast was a joke. The majority of the items were in plastic containers and set out on a table. Even the pancakes were premade and in a container. The night before we stayed at the Park Point Marina in Duluth for $20 less and made the Aspen Lodge rooms look like a dump. Place is over priced and worn out. Find somewhere else to stay!!!

The biggest downsides of our experience were the poor quality of the mattress, a broken window in our room, no cable tv service (everything streaming using unfamiliar platforms} and the lack of a reasonably good breakfast. There was nothing hot (all carbohydrates), and no covers for coffee cups. If it were the only choice available in Grand Marais, we wouldn't go.

Some staff were helpful and friendly, others not so much. Room was clean and spacious enough but the hallways could be better. Deadbolt lock did not work on our door. Continental breakfast was included but was pretty basic.
