This hotel is absolutely charming! Cute room -- it felt like time-travel into the past. The room was small, but comfortable. The food in the restaurant was absolutely delicious, as was the free breakfast (biscuits & gravy!). In the evening, there was an option to go outside on the patio for live music, or next door at The Barn for a drink. There are chickens in a coop outside, and a garden. Loved this place and were sad to leave.

This little gem was really a nice surprise ☺️. Absolutely loved the amenities and the uniqueness of the facility. Great food and drink options at the little restaurant that was attached to this hotel. The elevator was out of service and that was a challenge. The stairs are not marked well for people with limited vision and my friend fell on the stairs. But I really enjoyed all the peacefulness of the hotel. Also there was an outside garden for enjoying coffee and early morning meditations. Highly recommend a weekend getaway to this place if you are seeking a quiet spot and slower pace. 🥰

We love historic properties to stay at; this one was no different. Room was very small, really no room to put large pieces of luggage if you have it. Thankfully there is an elevator. Nowhere to eat if you chose not to go into the basement of hotel for their restaurant. They do serve breakfast & have coffee. Was an odd stay bc we were told the night before that the entire town would be losing power at 8am & not turning back on until noon. Didn’t affect us as we were heading out early for another leg of our road trip.

This restored gem pleased us greatly. Not only is the property attractive, sparkling clean, well-managed and easy to get to, it’s a charming step back into history. Even the attached restaurant has history and a fine menu. We absolutely loved it and would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a quiet, friendly visit to a delightful town.

The hotel was in great shape and we enjoyed the old style they have kept. The only negative was that the mattress needs updated and the comforter was stained. The building was very neat with the original decor.

Cute little hotel. Felt very historic and I really liked it. My only complaint would be that it was very hot and each room doesn’t seem to have its own a/c. When we set the thermostat it just blew hot air.

If you are into trains, you will like this place. I thought it was quite charming and felt like we were in an old-timey movie. The local art in the display case and the Czech Egg statues were fun for a bit, but would probably be even better in the summer. Our room was quite small especially for the cost and had a transom window with a red light outside that kept me up. Be warned that there's also a train nearby that goes through town a few times a day.

This is a lovely old hotel, but the room I was given (204) is at the top of the lobby stairs and was very noisy. I was awakened several times by noise from the lobby and kitchen. I'm certain other rooms are quieter.

I Do LOVE old hotels like this one. I Love antiques and old things. It was really a nice hotel. The only thing that I didn't like that there was no small refrigerator, no microwave, and No telephone. These things are standard in most of your hotels now. I even know of some old hotels that do have these things in the rooms. Other then that, everything was great. The rooms were a little small, but that was just fine. To me there should be a phone in each room, what if you had an emergency? Not everyone might not have the hotel number programed into there phone. I know I didn't because I did my reservation online. So in the future, you might want to put phones in the rooms. Just in case someone has an emergency and needs some help, or just go call the front desk for information about something. So maybe in the future you might want to get phones in the rooms... Thank you

The room (101) was so tiny that we could not pass esch other, we had to walk sideways, one @ a time, and I only weigh 114lbs Also, that room is supposed to be "accessible" there is no way a wheelchair could get through, or even a person on crutches. We were very disappointed, we had stayed there before, and the other, not Accesable rooms, were much better size.

It is overpriced. The room was tiny and so hot. We had to have the windows open and luckily i had a fan in my car. The walls are so thin, i could hear the individual in the next room snoring. I understand it is an old building and the history is cool but not for the price they charge.

The front staff dealt with my check-in without enthusiasm and welcoming banter, but they answered my questions well and explained dining options and reservations. Dining options are broafened with both a classic American dining room and a barbecue "barn and garden". Altogether a far better value and experience than you will find in the larger cuties in central Kansas. Dining 5 of 5 fir options, service, and taste. Cleanliness 5 of 5 ... no explanation necessary Safety 4 of 5 minky due to restorative lock choices Breakfast 4 of 5 due to casual handling Best travel value for traveling adults that I have found

We were going to be arriving close to 9:00 pm and needed to eat. We called to find out what time the restaurant kitchen closed, and it did close at 9:00. However, the front desk suggested we could place a to-go order, so they could have it ready for us when we arrived. We did, and they did! Thank you so much for making sure we were well fed.

This is a cute and quaint historical stop with loads of character and time honored style. All of the historical details of the hotel remain intact and it feels like you are taking a step back in time. The room was accommodating and comfortable, outfitted with an antique wardrobe and writing desk. I wish I had more time to stay but was needing to get back for an appointment. The staff was amazing, I had broken my ankle prior to my move to Wyoming. When I arrived (in the middle of the night) I informed the gentleman’s I had three large totes of live plants in my vehicle and asked if there was somewhere in the lower level I could leave them overnight. (It was -15 outside). He informed me I could leave them in the parlor. I thanked him and headed out to my truck to ponder how I would get them inside. Did I mention I also had my dog on a leash at the same time 😂. As I grabbed my bag out to take it inside the gentleman walked up to my truck and began grabbing the totes for me and taking them inside. I was amazed at his kindness and eagerness the help me. The small town houses a Worlds largest Czech egg and historical locations. The small gas station offered friendly smiles, fresh coffee and treats for the road. Go visit this happy little town and this unique 1899 hotel.

We had an amazing stay! Hotel was perfectly historic and charming, staff was very friendly, restaurant meal was delicious, and the town of Wilson is like stepping back in time. You definitely need to take a stroll around town to find all the decorative eggs. (Part of the towns history) We travel back and forth from Alaska to Florida 2 times a year and we will absolutely be staying here every time.

If you are into small town quaint experiences but with modern amenities as opposed to chain hotels near the Interstate this is the place for you! This hotel has been maintained very well despite being built in the 1800s. There is a very good restaurant/ bar on property. It is situated within 5 minutes of Interstate 70 so it’s convenient. It marks the halfway point from Kansas City and Denver. The town is cute but not much left in the way of open businesses which is a shame.

The hotel is beautiful — built from local limestone and fully restored to its 1920s charm. The bed is very comfortable, and the town is quiet yet centrally located, close to other small towns and Wilson Lake. The town features several Czech eggs throughout, including the largest Czech egg in Kansas, which is within walking distance. There’s also a lot of grassroots art in the area, giving it a unique local flavor.

Very nice staff, rooms clean and comfortable. Unique place that is not your cookie cutter hotel! Very beautiful and quiet place to stay. The only con would be that there was nowhere to get anything to eat after 7pm in town. Had to drive about 20 minutes to another town to get dinner, otherwise stay was perfect! Would definitely recommend!

unique experience at this historic location. But on Mondays there are Zero places to eat for 20 miles. Very remote location. Nice facility and clean.

They have done an excellent job integrating modern conveniences into an old-time hotel. The breakfast buffet was the best I have ever had in the U.S. There were European touches of a 5-choice coffee urn, bierocks, kolaches as well has good old American biscuits and gravy.

Quant and historic was the key factors for this hotel. Not the most comfortable beds, and it was a bit cramped with the furniture in that room. It was cool that it was so old. The diner in the basement had great food and good drinks. That was the perk of the whole stay.

Supper we had beef stroganoff. The meat was tough and fatty. The stroganoff sauce was very bland. Breakfast you had an option of toast muffins cold cereal, overall, the hotel room beds property were excellent. Have fun little town.

This little gem was really a nice surprise ☺️. Absolutely loved the amenities and the uniqueness of the facility. Great food and drink options at the little restaurant that was attached to this hotel. The elevator was out of service and that was a challenge. The stairs are not marked well for people with limited vision and my friend fell on the stairs. But I really enjoyed all the peacefulness of the hotel. Also there was an outside garden for enjoying coffee and early morning meditations. Highly recommend a weekend getaway to this place if you are seeking a quiet spot and slower pace. 🥰

Morning breakfast was poorly monitored, and something was wrong with water or coffee ability to be made. I watched several people waste Kuerig cups attempting to make some. The restaurant is fabulous.

We absolutely lived the hotel. The room was a bit warm so we opened all the windows. However, the train blew through out front at 2am... HORNS blarring!! Pillows too BIG for us. Luckily ours was in the car. Breakfast & the COFFEE several types, expresso, latte, cappachino were AMAZING. Farm fresh eggs & homemade pumpkin bread & pastries. Supp & salad available for $8. 😋👍😊

What a wonderful place! The hotel itself is beautiful and fascinating, gardens so cool, great cocktails and dinner. So unique and thoughtful, also all staff friendly and helpful, I’m already planning my next visit!

Really cool old hotel in Wilson with a great restaurant. Front desk is not staffed very well and multiple calls to the front desk from my room went unanswered. Lots of random hair in my room and bathroom from the previous occupant so not the most thorough cleaning. Had a great meal downstairs. TV could not be viewed from the bed. Room was a bit awkward to move around in. Breakfast was excellent. Parking in a dirt lot. So a bit of a mixed bag but overall positive.

We travel across Kansas fairly often and always make a point to stay at the Midland Railroad Hotel. Quaint old hotel with modern updates, a GREAT restaurant, and on weekends there is a cute barn/bar right on the property.

Our trip and stay at the Midland was not about the amenities. There is no pool or hottub, but we weren't expecting one. The little town of Wilson, KS was really hopping due to the "Big Boy" steam locomotive stopping and the start of their Czech Festival. That was reason for our visit. The restuarant that is in the lowest level of the Hotel was quite busy and we, not realizing we needed reservations, were still able to get a table and we had the daily special, which was way more food than either of us could eat. The food was very good and the service, although extremely busy, was excellent. If you are staying at the Midland, I recemmend eating there as well. The room was clean, albeit dark and old...but we knew it was an old hotel going into it. It is a historical landmark, but the furnishing are representative of the era. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will consider it again if the need arrises.
