Residence Inn by Marriott Rapid City

Our stay here was very nice. We traveled as a family and enjoyed the waterpark. The room was clean and had a lot of space for my family.

This is as fmgood as any other marriott, but what topped this soecific one to the others is the attatxhed water park. Made our whole stay that much better. My kids didn't want to leave

There is no pool at this hotel, only a expensive water park next door. That is deceptive advertising. I know management does not act on these reviews, because the breakfast was lacking in choices and quantity. No pastry, apple's only for fruit, two juices with no waffle or pancake offerings. If you search the reviews you will see the same breakfast complaints from two years ago. Room was comfortable, bed was good.

Great front desk staff and the pool area was fun. Orbitz and Expedia should make it clear that the pool area is a water park, which costs extra. The prices were reasonable, but Orbitz advertising was misleading.

Property itself was nice and convienent for access to the Waterpark. Our tv didn’t work, but I’m sure staff would have been accommodating had we brought it up as an issue. Staff was friendly and always accessible. Utensils are in kitchen area for use, but my first experience ever having sharp kitchen utensils stored at toddler level. May be a suggestion to keep in the top drawer or even cabinet.

All was great! Parking was horrible at night….we always had to walk quite a ways to the hotel.

While the hotel itself is excellent, the addition of the BOX convention center has made a crowded parking lot even worse. The facility was built attached to neighboring hotel with no additional parking making it a disaster when there are events.

This hotel says it has "Swimming pool with a lazy river, a waterslide, and a lifeguard on site" It DOES NOT! There is a water park connected to the hotel but it is an additional cost of $24/person/day! The hotel writeup is very misleading. Beware!

We have enjoyed staying at this hotel for almost a decade every year during black hills stock show. It’s always been very clean and staff has been great. This year we walked into our normal suite and were blasted with the smell of pot. So strong we could chew it. My 3 small children put their swim suits on and my husband took them to the water park while I went to the front desk. Front desk said they couldn’t do anything about it. After returning to the room it suddenly had taken on the smell of cigarette smoke which was literally rolling from under the door to the adjoining room next to us. On my way to the bathroom I discovered human feces on the kitchen floor and that someone had very recently showered in the shower. I asked for our room to be recleaned and they said no. They did give us another room, not as nice as the suite we had paid for. The next morning I thought the manager could do something better… like a free stay or at least he reassurance that our stay would be better next year. She actually told me she knew the other guest was using our room, using drugs and breaking hotel policy but she was an extended stay guest and they didn’t want to disturb her!!! I asked for a full refund then. She laughed and said only if we’d leave. No apologies for human feces, our luggage & clothing was rancid from the few hours it was in our hotel room it was that bad. So frustrating!!

The room was disgusting, dirty clothes left on floor of closet from previous guest, dirty sbot rag with blood under pillow on bed from previous guest, old food caked on cabinets and walls of kitchen area, half the lights burnt out. No shampoo or bodywas in bottles. Been better off staying at a 50 uear old motel.

The room we stay in was had dog hair all over the couch. We all had allergic reactions. We cleaned the room ourselves to get rid of the dog hair

Found a shirt left in our room along with the entertainment center covered in dust, food still on silverware, left our receipt partially under the door with personal information(also seeing many others in front of doors on floors), housekeepers were the friendliest staff, front desk staff were snooty. If you can get over that overall the stay was very nice. Even the walk to the water park was nice not having to go outside.

The hallways floors leading to the elevator were always really dirty. Also my room was 211, the view out the window was a roof that was filthy, had old junk stored on it with a rat trap. Was very disgusting to open the window to get some sunlight and that’s what you had to look at. It should be cleaned off.

My husband woke up with bed bug bites all over his arm. Thankfully my kids didn’t get bit!

Really too close to the interstate. Noisy all night.

Large room Well equipped for extended stay

Nice hotel though we had to change room due to intermittent vibrating humming sound coming from the central air conditioning pack on top of the building. Our room was right below. The staff were nice and friendly so we were moved from the top to the bottom of the building with no problems.

Room was spacious and comfortable.

Great room, lots of things provided for in kitchenette- utensils, pans, plates etc. Large spacious suite. Comfortable king bed.

Good rooms had 2 queens and pull out and kitchen . Pull out is fine for a kid but isnt very comfy . Room smell weird but maybe was from previous guests not sure like a wood or food smell but room was very clean and works good .water park is great and accessible from the hotel thru a connecetion hallway and is secure safe place . Rapid city itself is nice town and lots of food options . water park food is good and good bars in it and decent prices . My kids rate it 10/10 i rate it 9/10 overall . I will return !

Clean, comfortable, breakfast was good. Our location of room there was alot of freeway noise. Even at night. Thermostat was funky. It would go from heat to air-conditioning to keep temp in room.

This was the best hotel we stayed at in our 2 week trip. It was incredibly expensive, though $100 cheaper than going through the hotel itself. The water park was really cool, and our 14 year old boys loved it. The room was spacious and cool, with ample room to move. I was really pleased with the size, to be honest, as it was probably double a normal room in another hotel. The carpet was sticky in places, and that was gross. The door knob to the bathroom fell off, and I had to put it back on. And I’m sure the showers are meant to look classy, but they are completely ridiculous and impractical, and you get water everywhere. That being said, it was worth it for the water park. Important to note: the water park is a HAUL from your room. Prepare for a hike.

The stay here was great. The employees were very nice, happy to help with everything and was able to answer questions when I had some. The room was very clean and comfortable for the three days that I was there. It was nice to have the hotel in that location and travel to Mt. Rushmore and even the Devils Tower was easy.

I got charged twice from the hotel and hotels.com so had to deal with that but the person was helpful and fixed it after I realized. I also didn’t know there were parking fees. Otherwise, loved that the waterpark is included, nice hotel, great breakfast. The Hispanic breakfast worker was amazing and helpful as it closed at 9 and she helped the late-comers still get waffles. The other lady wanted to just shut it down right away. Although this was the cheapest hotel connected to the waterpark, it was still a bit expensive but also Sturgis time so figures. We will choose this waterpark hotel over the rest in the future as long as price remains cheaper!

Be aware that the hotel does not stick to the agreed upon price and will not correct it. They also did not mention that housekeeping is by request only and that there is no longer a manager’s reception despite it being advertised on the website. I had to ask about when breakfast was and about water park access. It would have been nice to be told those things at check in. The coffee and tea in the afternoon was cold (clearly just left over from breakfast). Both the clerk and manager were quite rude about the discrepancy in the price. For the price point I expected more.

The hotel was the absolute worst I have ever had to deal with upon check in. They had us in wrong rooms even though we had called and confirmed the day before. Also had us paying 500 dollars more then what we were supposed to pay and when we asked them about it they just basically acted like they didn’t care! We got our money back and went to La Quinta right around the corner. Much much better customer service and much cheaper!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!

Location for sightseeing was good. Multiple hotels hooked up sharing a restaurant and waterpark. Checkin was disappointing. Failed to inform us of no housekeeping services. When a request for extra blanket and towel was made at front desk in the morning, it didn't take place, had to make second trip to front desk. 5 adults staying in a suite and no one came in to empty the trash for three days. Paid for a suite sleeping six and charged for extra person. Lack of staff to assist with breakfast. overall disappointed

When I arrived a staff member had cancelled my reservations and she was still on the clock and she said she doesn’t know why but she did. The next day we had to check out and check back in and after I did we were asked to leave the room even though we were staying in the same room. We also called for towels and ended up calling 4 times because it took 5 hours for towels to arrive. We were trying to purchase Waterpark passes and the front desk to us to come back in 30 min because she was doing her morning paper work.

Super busy when checking in. Both personal were very courteous, nice and handled it great. Very impressed! Rest of stay was great.

The hotel was nice however I called for my room to be cleaned twice and they never came then the front desk handed me a vacuum when we returned in the evening to find it had not been cleaned. It was horribly rude and unprofessional.

The place is very accessible from I90, good place for a family stay.

Nice stay for family with a kitchenette. The hotel is connected to Watiki water park indoor which is great and convenient.

nice property and the staff was very friendly esp at breakfast. Limited places near to eat and noisy neighbors to our room. would like to have safe in room

There was a nice waterpark attached to the hotel and there was a different breakfast every morning. Very good restaurants close by, one block away from I-90

Everything was great but the breakfast. The eggs were yucky and it would have been nice to have a little variety from day to day. Maybe change out bacon and sausage. Need some sweet options too.

Positives: Arrived late night ( 10 pm) a very nice young man at front desk greeted us and was fantastic. He was able to accommodate a last minute request for another room quite quickly with a pretty booked hotel. Rooms were nice and clean. Great value. The reason for less stars…. And this will be the first “negative “ review I’ve ever posted but I think this can be a learning lesson hopefully. -breakfast only served until 9:30, and they PROMPTLY LOCK DOORS to all food (our bad we overslept and arrived at 9:36 due to long travel and time zone differences). I fully accept that I was 6 minutes late, however still a bit shocked that we were not allowed to grab ANYTHING not a bagel, muffin, piece of fruit, anything. Please keep in mind they had just started clearing the hot foods on the other side of kitchen so I would not have been in their way or disrupting a schedule. When I asked the staff if I could at least get a coffee, I was rudely pointed to the direction of the last pots out. Told if there is any left and that if there wasn’t cream there then they do not have any. There wasn’t, but they did have milk on the counter locked up. I knocked on the door and asked the gal if I could please have a little of that for my coffee if it wasn’t too much trouble- evidently it was. She reluctantly gave me some in a cup. Maybe they were just having a bad day, but it’s something to work on. The first time I have ever experienced anything like this at an hotel brea and I travel enough.

The hotel breakfast was crowded, not enough seating, food was limited and not kept up by staff.

The rooms were good size wise for a family. But it was dirty when we arrived with the previous occupants garbage in two places. The staff at “free breakfast” were rude and not helpful. The breakfast was awful and so limited. They didn’t even offer something as basic as toast. Coffee was out most days we went, cereal was out another day, oatmeal was out another day. When you ask a staff member if more food was coming they never knew! Not sure why they were working in the breakfast area if they didn’t know what food was available. All and all the worst breakfast I’ve ever seen at a hotel. Water slides were great, a bit of an odd set up with getting wristbands upstairs through another hotel but you figure it out.
