A quaint, lovely inn. Room was well-appointed with everything that we could possibly need. We stayed three nights in the Cambridge Room. Unfortunately we stayed on days that the restaurant was closed so we didn't get to have our dinners there. A continental breakfast was provided for us in our room as well as a well-appointed basket of snacks. We are hoping to retire to the area and we will be sure to return during our house hunting trips!

Quaint small inn basically in the middle of nowhere. Rooms are dated and could use some updating, but ours was a suite with plenty of room. Excellent bar and restaurant in the Inn (loved Natalie the bar tender!)

Wonderful ambiance at this historic inn! The owner and staff were friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean. So many little touches that made the stay homey. Loved having a basket of snacks and breakfast food provided to be able to eat in our room and relax in the morning. They accommodated my dietary restrictions that I had notified them of at time of making reservation. The interior decorating fit the historic building perfectly! Giving a feel of old, but with the comforts and cleanliness of new. Dinner in the restaurant was delightful with good food and live music (Thursday night).We slept well and enjoyed our stay.

The room was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The location was perfect for our travel and the town was lovely and peaceful. It was so nice not to wake up to mowing and blowing. The tavern looked great but wasn't open the night we stayed but we will return and check it out. We had everything we needed and more. I almost forgot that it was also spotless.

Seemed friendly until they wanted to close an hour before closing time on a Saturday. Be sure to have a back up plan for something to do after 8 o'clock on a Saturday night if you are staying at the in, because Carmen is not hanging around just for you...even if you had a $100 dinner and tipped her $40...kinda lame.

My room was warm and cozy on a very cold New England night. If you’re going to be in New Hampshire you should at least try a night at the Inn. Read your favorite poem and have a glass of wine downstairs if you’re lucky enough to be there when they are serving dinner. Would recommend and will visit again when I’m in the area.

We stayed overnight while in route to a conference. The building was historical and very inviting. The grounds were beautifully scattered with flowers and greenery and very relaxing. The suite style bedroom was cozy, had an old New England Colonial charm and was a delightfully unexpected surprise! The on-site restaurant & tavern was a pleasing step back in time. The food was innovative and tasted fabulous..especially dessert! Service was friendly and exceptional! The evening's Irish musical entertainment was a memorable way to end a long day! We will definitely be returning again! Highly recommend this inn!

The Birchwood Inn was out of the way, but it was worth it. It was a nice country in on a very quiet road. Our room was very comfortable, and snacks as well as a continental breakfast was included. A restaurant was attached to the Inn and although we didn't eat there, we had a drink at their bar and the atmosphere was very friendly. The staff could not have been nicer or more friendly.

Very cozy place! Owner was very responsive to our needs. Nice selection of breakfast items and snacks in room. Convenient parking. Close to area restaurants/businesses. We stayed over Christmas so the onsite restaurant was not open but it looked quite nice. Only thing that could be improved is the scent used for the linens, as it was a bit strong. Otherwise, would definitely recommend for anyone needing to stay in the area.

I travel a lot for work on my own in remote areas of NH & VT, so finding a safe and comfortable place to stay is very important to me. The staff at Birchwood were so kind and welcoming. My room was well prepared and very clean. The only thing that made me a little nervous was the back door in the room because I was unsure if the lock actually worked and only a thin see through drape covered the window. Just something to be cognizant of for young women traveling alone! Overall, I loved my stay and would definitely come again!

The Inn and Tavern are listed on the National Record of Historic Places. The people are very accommodating. The room in which we stayed and the restaurant were very clean and tidy. The exterior could use a bit of spring clean-up and maintenance. Our stay was in the early spring. Perhaps that process is about to begin.

Rustic inn in a quaint town. We stayed during an unprecedented heat wave. The air conditioning unit had a hard time competing with the warm air that was coming out of the return. We opened the windows which worked great. A screened door on the porch door would be great. Overall easy check in/out and staff was very responsive.

Loved having a basket of snacks and breakfast food provided to be able to eat in our room and relax in the morning. They accommodated my dietary restrictions that I had notified them of at time of making reservation. The interior decorating fit the historic building perfectly! Giving a feel of old, but with the comforts and cleanliness of new. Dinner in the restaurant was delightful with good food and live music (Thursday night).We slept well and enjoyed our stay.

Rustic inn in a quaint town. We stayed during an unprecedented heat wave. The air conditioning unit had a hard time competing with the warm air that was coming out of the return. We opened the windows which worked great. A screened door on the porch door would be great. Overall easy check in/out and staff was very responsive.

We stayed overnight while in route to a conference. The building was historical and very inviting. The grounds were beautifully scattered with flowers and greenery and very relaxing. The suite style bedroom was cozy, had an old New England Colonial charm and was a delightfully unexpected surprise! The on-site restaurant & tavern was a pleasing step back in time. The food was innovative and tasted fabulous..especially dessert! Service was friendly and exceptional! The evening's Irish musical entertainment was a memorable way to end a long day! A restaurant was attached to the Inn and although we didn't eat there, we had a drink at their bar and the atmosphere was very friendly. The staff could not have been nicer or more friendly.

Very cozy place! Owner was very responsive to our needs. Nice selection of breakfast items and snacks in room. Convenient parking. Close to area restaurants/businesses. We stayed over Christmas so the onsite restaurant was not open but it looked quite nice. Only thing that could be improved is the scent used for the linens, as it was a bit strong. Otherwise, would definitely recommend for anyone needing to stay in the area.

Quaint small inn basically in the middle of nowhere. Rooms are dated and could use some updating, but ours was a suite with plenty of room. Excellent bar and restaurant in the Inn (loved Natalie the bar tender!)

The room was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The location was perfect for our travel and the town was lovely and peaceful. It was so nice not to wake up to mowing and blowing. The tavern looked great but wasn't open the night we stayed but we will return and check it out. We had everything we needed and more. I almost forgot that it was also spotless.

Hygeligt sted i Temple. Vi savnede kontakt til en reception eller ejerene. Kunne kun kontaktes via telefonopkald. Vi var der 2 overnatninger og det skulle være incl. morgenmad. Der lå youghurt og andet i køleskabet på værelset men blev ikke ikke genopfyldt efter første overnatning. Vi var på gennemrejse sydpå og syntes stedet lå godt på vores rute.

A quaint, lovely inn. Room was well-appointed with everything that we could possibly need. We stayed three nights in the Cambridge Room. Unfortunately we stayed on days that the restaurant was closed so we didn't get to have our dinners there. A continental breakfast was provided for us in our room as well as a well-appointed basket of snacks. We are hoping to retire to the area and we will be sure to return during our house hunting trips!

Birchwood Inn is great vintage inn! Perfect stay for our family visiting for a show at The Range. Hosts are gracious and food at the Inn was excellent. BlackBerry Banana bread for breakfast was a hit. Will definitely be back.

Very cute place. Had dinner at the restaurant which has great food and drinks with friendly staff. Check in was smooth and our first impression was good. It was a major inconvenience, however that there was no hot water (something to do with the restaurant using it all). We had to go to bed without showers. Additionally, the site advertises continental breakfast from 7-9, but you must know this is not true. Instead, they offer a prepackaged breakfast items in your room. The spread is extensive which great, it's just not as expected. Overall we had a lovely stay.

The Birchwood Inn is a great place to stay. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. They make you feel like family as soon as you get there. Don't waist your time looking for another place to stay in that area. I highly recommend the Birchwood Inn and would stay there again in a heart beat. While the owners are lovely people and their restaurant wonderful, our accommodations were not really clean. The ceiling plaster was falling. Some of the areas were not dusted for a while, our bathroom mirror still had splash marks from the previous guest, and the carpets were not vacuumed. This place really has great potential with upgrades and cleaning. These are constructive criticisms to help.
