We had a great stay here. All the staff were friendly, we loved our room with the ensuite, the pub had lots of atmosphere and we really enjoyed our dinner. The breakfast was the best breakfast we've had so far - everything was tasty and piping hot. Thanks.

We checked in at the restaurant. The employee, who seemed like he was the owner was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a small house around the corner from the restaurant. The house was nice and comfortable. Our only disappointment was that the washer in our house did not work. However, my wife made contact with the owner and he allowed us to use the washer and dryer that they use to clean the linens for the apartments. Overall, a great experience.

Our room was lovely. The pub and outdoor courtyard was great. We enjoyed the quaint village of East Linton and attended church a short walk away. It was more expensive than similar places we stayed in Scotland

Great experience, room was spotlessly clean and bigger than expected. Used the bar downstairs on arrival and the manager was super friendly a credit to the hotel gave me some good local information so stayed in East Linton and did a riverside walk in the morning before heading to St Abbs. Morning breakfast was delicious full scottish and sets you up for the day. A great hotel with great helpful staff. Well worth visiting.

East Linton is a pretty village and the pubs in the centre by the church. There is no carpark, but we were able to park easily on street just round the corner. We stayed in the Gallery room. It’s up a lot of stairs, but really nice. The bathroom is superb, with a big shower and big bath. We had dinner in the pub which was also really good. There’s a good vibe in there, everyone was having a good time. Best to book your table as it was busy. The cooked breakfast was very good, but there is no alternative. So if you prefer a continental breakfast this isn’t an option. No cereal, porridge or fruit juice either. I would recommend this place to anyone. It was excellent value for money.

Welcoming Pub with nice rooms, huge bathtub and shower, good food, beer, whisky. Very helpful staff, kindly portered bags up upstairs. Only street parking so don't leave things on sight overnight (area safe, but best be careful). Would stay here again

Terrific hotel in the heart of East Lothian. Facilities you would expect from.a pub - excellent evening meals and included breakfast. Room was well furbished and spacious. No noise from the pub below, some traffic noise from being on the main road but not too busy. Great location.

Great location with easy access by car or rail. Excellent location for visiting Edinburugh. Spacious clean rooms with good facilities. Nice pibe with good food and friendly atmosphere. Staff friendly and very hlpful. Definitely will return.

Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We had a lovely and clean room. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. The bar is cosy and offers plenty of choice. We felt right at home.

The room was very comfortable, clean and well furnished. The only issue I had was that evening meals were not being served as it was a Monday evening. Breakfast was excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly.

Bedroom floor had not been cleaned. Masses amount of hair belonging to previous occupant ! The close proximity to the high speed railway line was a bit of a surprise because the cottage was not actually next to the hotel.

Besides a dirty pillow and dirty coffee/tea pots it was a nice stay. Very quiet and cozy. I like the decor but not a separate bathroom. Turns out only one room has a bathroom outside of the room.

We stayed in the Fountain room, while it doesn't have an en suite it has a private bathroom just across the hall. The room and bathroom were spotless, the bed comfy and the breakfast was great. The staff were amazing, the chef even ran down to the local shop to get gluten free bread for my toast! We will definitely recommend this place to our friends and family and would love to stay here again.

The room cost £90 for b&b which was adjacent to the actual pub area. It was advertised with a private bathroom which is a bit misleading as it was not en-suite but over a corridor and up a stair which isn’t ideal. The room was small but very clean and well appointed except for TV which didn’t work. The food had great reviews but was really disappointing. Ordered nachos to start and share. Salsa, guacamole, sour cream all obviously out of jars etc. and prefabricated. Had cod which was overcooked and a Cajun burger which was ok but served with the obligatory frozen chips. Choose Italian red wine at £29 which was fine but actually retails around less than £9. Leave others to decide if that’s value for money? When bill came tried to charge for 2 portions of nachos which was ridiculous. This was removed when spoke with the Manager. When I pre booked dinner expected to be served in restaurant but on arrival was informed we would have to eat in the bar as there was a private function. Nobody advised of this prior to our arrival. Staff did apologise which was more than be said for manager who was less than impressive. In fairness all the other staff we had dealings with were helpful, courteous, pleasant and friendly. Made an effort to stay at this hotel on our way home from elsewhere due to food reviews etc. Unfortunately didn’t live up to the hype and was in the main very disappointing. Would not recommend and most certainly not value for money in my opinion.

The room we booked was rather small - not much room to get around the bed and very hot and stuffy on a warm night, with road noise if the window was open and no fan to cool it if the window was closed. The biggest issue was that it was not ensuite so worth checking what you are booking. My booking said "private bathroom" which turned out to be across the hall and up some steps and I wouldn\'t have booked the room had I realised that. I\'m told there is just the one room that isn\'t ensuite so just be careful when you choose. Not the best night\'s rest because of the heat, but likely just this one room as it was so small. No hot water on arrival after a long drive and day’s walking, little heat from the radiator, broken handle on the shower unit and noticeably loose flooring in the bathroom. The hot water was resolved before bedtime and the manager did all he could however far from ideal. This said if the issues are addressed it is a nice place to stay.

We enjoyed our brief stay in the quiet village of East Linton. The welcome and food was very good and the room, cosy. However, the room was very hot and lacked an ensuite. We had to venture out across a corridor to a private bathroom; this was not made clear at the booking stage.

A great find within 15/20 mins of North Berwick. Couldn't fault the room which had huge bathroom with roll top bath and walk in shower. Very comfortable stay. The menu in the pub is not extensive but everything we had was beautifully cooked and presented. The place was buzzing with locals and visitors on both nights we were there. Highly recommended

Shower handle broke, radiator temperature controller broke so room was too hot. Woke by guests staying in another room being abusive with each other that went on for a couple of hour, no staff on site to sort it out but did report these things next morning

We really loved our overnight stay at The Crown and Kitchen in East Linton. Really cute little place with beautiful room. The staff were so friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Would highly recommend this place. There is a train station in East Linton and only takes 20 minutes away so it’s perfect for a wee day or evening out in Edinburgh if you don’t want to stay in the city itself.

We had the most wonderful overnight stay at The Crown and Kitchen and we stayed in Town Square room. From our request for early check-in being granted to the service to the fact that we were allocated a table for dinner despite the pub hosting a private function, our expectations were exceeded. The food in the restaurant was superb and had a wide variety of choices that worked for us (vegetarian). The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. Staff was friendly. We had a room that had a private bathroom (not en-suite) that needed a bit of work. Only down-side was there were no towels when we arrived. We asked, but none appeared. Evening staff was very busy in the bar that was packed and I think they were short staffed, so somewhat understandable.

Great experience, room was spotlessly clean and bigger than expected. Used the bar downstairs on arrival and the manager was super friendly a credit to the hotel gave me some good local information so stayed in East Linton and did a riverside walk in the morning before heading to St Abbs. Morning breakfast was delicious full scottish and sets you up for the day. A great hotel with great helpful staff. Well worth visiting.

Great location with easy access by car or rail. Excellent location for visiting Edinburugh. Spacious clean rooms with good facilities. Nice pibe with good food and friendly atmosphere. Staff friendly and very hlpful. Definitely will return.

A great find within 15/20 mins of North Berwick. Couldn't fault the room which had huge bathroom with roll top bath and walk in shower. Very comfortable stay. The menu in the pub is not extensive but everything we had was beautifully cooked and presented. The place was buzzing with locals and visitors on both nights we were there. Highly recommended

East Linton is a pretty village and the pubs in the centre by the church. There is no carpark, but we were able to park easily on street just round the corner. We stayed in the Gallery room. It’s up a lot of stairs, but really nice. The bathroom is superb, with a big shower and big bath. We had dinner in the pub which was also really good. There’s a good vibe in there, everyone was having a good time. Best to book your table as it was busy. The cooked breakfast was very good, but there is no alternative. So if you prefer a continental breakfast this isn’t an option. No cereal, porridge or fruit juice either. I would recommend this place to anyone. It was excellent value for money.

Bedroom floor had not been cleaned. Masses amount of hair belonging to previous occupant ! The close proximity to the high speed railway line was a bit of a surprise because the cottage was not actually next to the hotel.

Terrific hotel in the heart of East Lothian. Facilities you would expect from.a pub - excellent evening meals and included breakfast. Room was well furbished and spacious. No noise from the pub below, some traffic noise from being on the main road but not too busy. Great location.

We had a great stay here. All the staff were friendly, we loved our room with the ensuite, the pub had lots of atmosphere and we really enjoyed our dinner. The breakfast was the best breakfast we've had so far - everything was tasty and piping hot. Thanks.

The room cost £90 for b&b which was adjacent to the actual pub area. It was advertised with a private bathroom which is a bit misleading as it was not en-suite but over a corridor and up a stair which isn’t ideal. The room was small but very clean and well appointed except for TV which didn’t work. The food had great reviews but was really disappointing. Ordered nachos to start and share. Salsa, guacamole, sour cream all obviously out of jars etc. and prefabricated. Had cod which was overcooked and a Cajun burger which was ok but served with the obligatory frozen chips. Choose Italian red wine at £29 which was fine but actually retails around less than £9. Leave others to decide if that’s value for money? When bill came tried to charge for 2 portions of nachos which was ridiculous. This was removed when spoke with the Manager. When I pre booked dinner expected to be served in restaurant but on arrival was informed we would have to eat in the bar as there was a private function. Nobody advised of this prior to our arrival. Staff did apologise which was more than be said for manager who was less than impressive. In fairness all the other staff we had dealings with were helpful, courteous, pleasant and friendly. Made an effort to stay at this hotel on our way home from elsewhere due to food reviews etc. Unfortunately didn’t live up to the hype and was in the main very disappointing. Would not recommend and most certainly not value for money in my opinion.

Supposed free car parking meant parking in busy and narrow HIGH STREET. Was lucky enough to get place 20m from bar entrance but it could have been 200m away even later in day. When picking up room key was told kitchen closed for 2 of 3 days of stay. Stairs up to room on first floor were on carpet which looked dirty and had seen better days. Room itself was clean and tidy but armchair padding was worn down to wooden frame and kettle had to be on floor to connect with extension power lead to boil. Excellent shower pressure although heat controls a bit stiff to manipulate. No info available on emergency provision eg doctor or on local (not Edinburgh) amenities or on TV channels or operation although WiFi fast and consistent. Breakfast options were limited and service very slow and did not see either serving staff SMILE at all - not very welcoming. On second morning we (and other guests) had to sit in bar area while beer barrels took up all floor space in dining area. Overall this was NOT value for money and I would not go back and probably not use uk.hotels.com ever again

Staff were very friendly and the food was good. I had an evening meal when I arrived and breakfast on the 2 days I stayed. Evening meal was a burger and 2 glasses of wine that was a little expensive but was tasty and a good atmosphere in the bar where you dine. Room (Fountain Room) was not 'en suite' which was a surprise and whilst there was a 'private bathroom' across the public corridor it wasn't ideal and could imagine might cause a problem with some guests. I also had cause to pull the bed out so I could access the plug socket (there were only two in the room), and it was evident that when cleaning the room, the beds are not pulled out to hoover. Overall would consider staying there again but probably only 50:50.
